Hey mate sorry for the late reply....you know I actually like this one myself! lol..hehe..you know how it is,some tracks you do but on reflection don't stay with you...this one did..cheers buddy Dave :)
Aww man this is slick. I LOVE the bassline (obviously I would coming from you, sir), and Slap softly over top! Are you playing a fretless? I love the smooth sound of a fretless, the way it has no defining boundries of what the note should be other than the artists movement! And the rhythym section gently carries this through. 4th Fav on LM! OUTSTANDING!
Ken
Hi Ken..thanks for the cool review mate..actually this is a fretted bass (Fender Jazz of course! lol) I play only with my fingers and very close to the bridge using only the bridge pickup, that's where I get that 'Jaco' tone..in fact my favourite Jaco tune 'Teen Town'is performed by him using his fretted bass....awhile back I sold my fretless five string..and I'm looking for a four string one at the moment..cheers mate Dave :)
Its only just occured to me that I haven't actually listened to your tracks despite knowing about you as a member for about 10 months.. glad to say I finally got round to take a listen.
This track is amazingly relaxing, great strings, nice fx's in the background, it all flows together really well and you've done a really good job here.
I can't really point out much for improvement either, which is always a good thing.
Nice job, I doubt this will be the last track of yours I review!
oh man this is just too kewl - great work- yer one talented musician - or is this a team of folks? LOL - great bass sound and playing - also dont know if you built this around any loops or if all live playing - but either way is amazing!!
Hi mate..glad you could drop by and take a spin on the Magic Carpet..yep this track is 100% live playing..Synths/Electric Bass/Drum programming/Arrangement by moi..Horns/Flute/Clarinet SlapJohnston...I never use loops either, that is unless I've made them myself!lol...cheers buddy Dave :)
Think this is the first track I have heard of you and damm want be the last lol. I love jazz music SLAPJOHNSON came through and did his thing nice track
@Planet, You are still one of my all time favs on Looperman and this track again shows the talent that you have. I only wish I could play bass like that :(... Truely wonderful C69
As I listened to this track I sat on my porch in a lite fog at six am. The music flowed as the fog rolled in. Your music was the sound track for this mornings experience. My uncle and reedman, Buddy Collette would have loved hearing it. "We dig" is my reply as I am sure it would have been his. Peace...
Hi Bert..I'm very touched by this review, apart from the splendid environmentally 'being there' aspect of it the thought of your Uncle Buddy enjoying it fills me with good melancholia...the lives of people really amount to how they live on in other's memories..cheers mate and thanks for the listen! Dave :)
Perfect title for this track! I'm loving this! It's haunting and engaging! Always nice to hear some JFW on guitar! The synth work was spectacular too! Nice drum loops! Thanks for sharing this great audio experience! Faved for sure!
man ur style is very odd so odd that it can be been unotice if ur not keen on the fact that u play form within ur soul thats has a universe of sounds in it LOL.
wow Dave,
your fusion tracks are like opening a xmas present from your favourite eccentric relative....you never know what you will get but you do know it will be #%*^#% great!

Hey Damien..sorry for the late reply mate, hey aren't all us Aussies related,lol..well at least on the loop we are..we're thin on the ground here mate!..cheers buddy and thanks for the listen..Dave :)
Man, that bass work is awesome! I really dig the spacy feel. Very Progressive and original. Really like the flow of the song.
The drum spread created a nice thick environment for my mind to play around in. The synth line has a secret agent feel to which is cool. Man, as a bassist I just can't get over the bass work in here.
Soooo relaxing... I love this arrangement. Too many Jazz tracks on here have really synthetic sounding drums, or just sound like some straight up Kenny G elevator music (sorry to any Kenny G fans out there, the man may be good, but I do NOT like his style) This on the other hand was smooth smooth smooth. First Looperman Jazz track I've really gotten into. thanks.
He mate thanks, sorry for the late reply..I feel the same way about Kenny G it must have been his association with Michael Bolton maybe! lol..cheers buddy and thanks for the support..planet :)
well ... i hate fusion, but this is just my taste, i like the compo i think its rock solid, i didnt hear anything offbeat, it sounded dark-ish and creepy-ish, but thats fusion i think like sitting inside a microwave what do you expect from that.
great work
I absolutely love the atmosphere of this track. Makes me want to get up and dance, haha. The horns give it an almost 1950's feel at first. The whole mix honestly sounds like it was done in a recording studio and I think it sounds great overall :)
