The last track in my Planetjazzbassfest. With this one, I've listened to and reviewed all your tracks. And I must say, it has been an abosolute pleasure.

Topping off with this piece is perfect. For some reason, it brings to mind the old spaghetti westerns (might be the whistling). Anyways, this baby is sweet.

Hey John you've been stalking my tracks! LOL...I do appreciate the time you've spent listening to my music and your insights..where would we be without feedback from our peers!...the interesting thing is especially in my earlier work and I would imagine this applies to a lot of people..it isn't so much that my ideas or playing was inferior at that stage it was because I was at the start of the learning curve of my DAW and trying to make the transition from old ways(analog) thinking to the new digital age..this is where Looperman comes in,it's often been said that once you join you improve and I totally support this contention..now that the transition has totally digitized I feel that I can express myself more readily and quicker than before.....plus if ever there was a musical sounding board Looperman is it.......In one review 'Mission to Murmansk'you asked how I got this synth sound..Damn! I've been trying to find it again for years!LOL..actually it's a patch out of Native Instruments FM8,should be easy to find right...wrong! lol I have at present count over 25,000 patches for this particular soft synth and the one I used I subsequently morphed out of recognition..I will find and recreate this sound though!(one day) lol...John if ever there was someone who encapsulates all the good things about Looperman and music in general it's you..you have an open mind and a wealth of experience honed by life's journey...It's not that I don't value younger peoples opinions it's just that there's a divide,is it pre internet versus post internet mentality..I don't know..I'm just glad we're both on the same side of the fence! lol..cheers for all your support mate!..Dave :)

So, Dave, I do quite a bit of work with a bass player from San Francisco. He asked me who my favorite bass player was and I told him Planetjazzbass. He says "who the hell is he?" So, I sent him off to Looperland to check out your tracks. He came back a fan.

I say all of this because this track is a great example of why your bass work is up there at the top of my list. Man, there is magic in those hands...you do know how to caress Wilma ;)

This whole track is just a wonderful auditory stew my friend, and I enjoyed every last bite. I love gravy, but I love the "Gravy Train" even more.

...reading the other reviews I am surpised you got a VST for the base line 'cause this almost sounds like a fretless Alembic base or something. very convincing sound of the base within the overall mix. If you're not doing music for film/TV you definately should be. You have the talent, creative perception and a wealth of ideas to draw on. (I got so many drum loops of Looper ID ; 111346 as proOf) Any music industry guys take note..!!....

Man, that bass work is awesome! I really dig the spacy feel. Very Progressive and original. Really like the flow of the song.

The drum spread created a nice thick environment for my mind to play around in. The synth line has a secret agent feel to which is cool. Man, as a bassist I just can't get over the bass work in here.

    Nicely done! Kudos

    heh

What's this about the VST midi bass???!?
Been really thinking about going the direction of guitar in midi out... there's some cheap interfaces with horrible ratings and of course.. Expensive ones with amazing reviews.

    APC first.

    Anyway I love the track!

Thanks mate..de train takes all passengers and makes unscheduled stops all de time! lol...yeah midi guitar/bass is pretty cool..I got the Sonuus G2M for guitar and the B2M for bass as well..these are a bit iffy, only play monophonically and a little bit of post production midi mapping clean up is required occasionally, but their not bad for the price..I borrowed a Roland Gr2 bass midi pick-up and module ..these are better but still I don't like it hanging off my guitar..what I think I may get is an Industrial Radio Midi Bass..they seem to be the real deal..but I'll have to test one first..about $2500..bit pricey for something you won't use all the time..but we'll see..cheers mate Dave :)

Really beautiful bass sound and play. Very Jazzy and Funky.
I appreciate the composition for the fact that you give a real presence to the bass, which is for me a real and complete instrument as Top, Pastorius, Vitous or Clarke showed.
    Nice work, I enjoy a lot !

Hi Danbo..thank you very much for all the wonderful reviews you've given me..I'll reply here in length rather than do multiple short ones :)
Looking at your profile I see that we have many common influences and tastes in music...from a very early age I was always attracted to the 'Rhythm' section of music, from tribal drums to the bottom end throb and thump of the bass...bass players have always been in the rhythm section but for many years their job was to follow and play a totally supportive role, well thanks to many of the player that you've mentioned the dynamics have changed forever and now the bass is a fully integrated solo ensemble instrument where it rightfully belongs...melody lines and call response phrases are all at the bass player's doorstep now..I see that you are a Frenchman!(I was there last in 1975 and my Sister lives in Paris!)..where did a young Miles Davis go when he was disillusioned with his musical acceptance in America and the inherent racial roadblocks to his career at that time..France!..Jazz music has always proliferated in that country and the world is grateful....thank you again..cheers Dave/planet :)

Description : This track starts off with some Jazzy Neo-Soul then gets into some Funk with a Rock Space-Synth solo, then ends with some straight Neo-Soul.
