Hi Dave, well the first thing to hit me was the clarity of this track, your production is crystal clear. Your arrangements are always fresh & original with excellent playing, I can't fault this piece in any shape or form, I would call it a masterpiece.
Howdy Oh great Woodwind God from across the pond...at the moment I'm in serious need of a double bass, playing a simulation Vst is fine as far as it goes,,but unfortunately it has severe limitations..thanks in part to you,my love of the jazz sounds that I grew up with are resurfacing and manifesting on my musical horizon.."if it ain't got that swing it don't mean a thing"..can't remember who said that but it's very true....thanks buddy..Dave :)
Great stuff Dave! I had a blast playing on this!!! I'm lucky to have (that rarest of musicians on looperman) another purveyor of fusion to work with.
Cheers, Jamie.
Cool mate!...there's not too many fusionistas left or so it seems...but always remember one thing,it's very easy to slip your hat on backwards but it's a tad more difficult to slip on an axe and get away with it! lol..cheers buddy Dave :)
Yep.... Planet you just rock my musical world....Kool track with so many sounds on the musical canvas of life....if a sound is the word ...PlanetJazzBass is the instrument....Love this piece...Thx my friend for sharing...Buddrumming
Hey Bud..thanks man, always good to hear from the premier skin man! :) I still don't know how drummers do it..it's like watching hyper complicated juggling,I think they are dipped in a vat of rhythm at birth!lol..I'll be over to the mix to hear your featured spot on Joseph's show ...cheers Dave
Excellent. The bass riff is bonkers, the keys, percussion..all the rest blend in to make this a top notch funk jam. Just in time too, cus Looperman is bleeding funk these days. Well done my friend. -np-
Hey mate...thank you very much for the cool review...we're all rhythm junkies at heart and sometimes I flash onto images of an Orchestra, but with contemporary elements...chuck out the choir bring in some MC's,bassplayers, guitarists, synth players etc...then rev the whole shebang up...cheers Dave :)
Hey Al..thanks man,I really appreciate your input if a guitarist likes what I'm doing I must be doing something right!plus Zappo let me run all over the shop in this one..cheers buddy :)
Wow esoteric it is! I love this playful bass line, it's wonderful! The jazzy percussion really works! Nice synth work too! I've never heard a song quite like this! It's energetic and relaxing at the same time. Wonderful mixing and arrangement! Great work! A fave for sure!
Hey Spiv...thanks mate I was wondering what Zappo would make of this when I sent it to him,and he was very supportive in his playing, the bass line is a bit full on but hey these things happen! lol..cheers mate :)
Nice! Very much Jazz. Smooth and slick. I really enjoyed the bass line also. Usually bass is overpowering and muddy but this one is clean. Use of reverb is very good also. Not too many jazz pieces here but this is a good one.
Thanks mate for your splendid review..I was scratching my head as to what genre I should put this under Jazz/Funk/Fusion? it has a bit of all maybe..cheers man :)
Great playing and awesome production yet again Wowza!!!! Your arrangements always deliver the desired interest and change to keep the listener hooked into the song from start to finish. I like all of your productions Dave, they are always fresh original and exciting, leaving just the right amount of space so the song can breath.
Hey Steve...this piece is a little indulgent but I had to get it out of my system and Zappo did a marvellous job of letting me have full reign, man I remember when I got my first bass and couldn't tune it! lol..when you get your recording system up and running I need a Slap infusion real bad...you'll be interested in my new sound, excellent double bass Vst midi controlled by "Wilma" my Jazz Bass..cheers mate :)

Don't worry, peace is just a time between two wars. I hope consciouness of poeple will reach a point from which any agressivity of nation will be possible !
Thanks for this piece
Yes, I remember this bass sound. Pastorius used this sound. You play really well.
Each time I click on a "PlanetJazzBass" button, I except something great. Always true....and I put my freind in the garden, to have a taste with the music.
Thanks
Really nice one. I'll take time to listen all your productions. But, yet, it's so good that I've prepared my sono Hi-fi, some coffees. I've closed the windows, and I close my eyes to listen to your world.
.......... if you are not a musician,...I am not a human being !
Really beautiful bass sound and play. Very Jazzy and Funky.
I appreciate the composition for the fact that you give a real presence to the bass, which is for me a real and complete instrument as Top, Pastorius, Vitous or Clarke showed.
Nice work, I enjoy a lot !
Hi Danbo..thank you very much for all the wonderful reviews you've given me..I'll reply here in length rather than do multiple short ones :)
Looking at your profile I see that we have many common influences and tastes in music...from a very early age I was always attracted to the 'Rhythm' section of music, from tribal drums to the bottom end throb and thump of the bass...bass players have always been in the rhythm section but for many years their job was to follow and play a totally supportive role, well thanks to many of the player that you've mentioned the dynamics have changed forever and now the bass is a fully integrated solo ensemble instrument where it rightfully belongs...melody lines and call response phrases are all at the bass player's doorstep now..I see that you are a Frenchman!(I was there last in 1975 and my Sister lives in Paris!)..where did a young Miles Davis go when he was disillusioned with his musical acceptance in America and the inherent racial roadblocks to his career at that time..France!..Jazz music has always proliferated in that country and the world is grateful....thank you again..cheers Dave/planet :)
Yo PlanetJB ! Love this track. Eshars voice adding to the journey. Is that an electro-acoustic with a fretless base? Sure iks a very "pro" sound and I would like to know how you got it..(reciprocal favour if required..) Mucho Likeo
Mate knew it was a surfy track right from the very first beat, great beat, guitar nice, vocals great but love the wicked laugh the best, absolute crack up, could not help smiling to myself each time I heard it, does sound like landmines going off, need to put in memory bank not to go to that beach lol, seriously this is one great piece, man that giggle laugh, now has me cracking up each time I hear it, again my friend this arranged so well to keep listener interested, clarity also very high on the level, mate I so loving the laugh...Just wicked...fav'd big time...Track deserves it but a plus for that laugh too :-)Peace Dave...Estefano...
Excellent piece. I'm loving the "music of the spheres" kind of feel and its juxtaposition with the heavier sounds. A great piece, my friend, faved abd downloaded.
