Very soothing yet aggressive track all in one cohesive mix. the lead synth sounds as if it is screaming in pain but yet sounds like triumph to one's soul. the guitar represents life in all it's quick occurrence at the speed of a thought. the drum forever beats and lingers only to one day stop beating and die out. this is a perfect representation of life itself jazz, especially with the minor sound fx in the background towards the end. excellent job. peace
Sorry for the late reply to your great review Neo!..if there was a way to spontaneously create music in real life situations without lugging instruments around like a "Life" sound track it would be very interesting..cheers mate ,I shall be visiting your profile page shortly! Dave
Yes Dave! Man I love this...what a way to start my day! The instrument/percussion you selected are perfect for the movement on this. I love the way you pan the chimes like a wave. Great work and you know I love the tone of your bass, so I won't even mention it here.
Mate another impressive piece from you, sounding little what the humps would do, maybe you 2 need to collab, would be a brilliant result, great guitar Dave, nice beat and percussion, flows along just nicely, something I have come to expect is the clarity in your works and this one is very good also, mate like the seagulls in the back ground, giving it that summer time feel to the piece, another fav coming along here, Dave thanks for sharing here on the loop, always a great listen...Peace matey...Estefano...
Thanks Esti..I really need to put some new tracks up!..listening to old stuff is ok I guess but you know how one's perspectives change over time...cheers buddy Dave :)
...reading the other reviews I am surpised you got a VST for the base line 'cause this almost sounds like a fretless Alembic base or something. very convincing sound of the base within the overall mix. If you're not doing music for film/TV you definately should be. You have the talent, creative perception and a wealth of ideas to draw on. (I got so many drum loops of Looper ID ; 111346 as proOf) Any music industry guys take note..!!....
Hey Daniel..thanks for the cool rap mate!..All my bass work is played on my 1968 Fender Jazz Bass (affectionately called Wilma)..though I wouldn't say no to an Alembic or two! lol...cheers Dave :)
I was expecting an all digitally made track but your bass rings out and gives a nice live feel to this atmospheric gem. I am having a blast with Ableton myself mixing live with digital. It can breath life into us old guys who never had the opportunity to make music in such a way in days gone by and open up opportunities to create great electronic music is such a quick time.
You never seem to let the listener down, thanks Dave, nice track!
Hey mate..thanks for the listen,I had an impromptu jam the other day at a friend's house, the only difference being these days is I don't take along a slab of beer any more!lol...oh by the way,I found a package for you that I'd forgotten to mail..I've just mailed it today..I can't remember what's in it! hehe...cheers Dave :)
wooowooow, INSTRUMENTAL EXPLOSION! love the guitar, wwwwhoa, it like changed. wow, this really is a fusion. Personal query: have you ever fallen asleep listening to this on repeat? I feel like I would have the most epic, African savana, himalayan, monte carlo adventure ever. I love at 3:20 how it like expands, i gotta listen to that part again, h/o.... yeah that pad or something comes in and really fills it out well. Its funny, this also reminds me of the movie, The Time Machine, the new one ya know? I like that movie.. and this song. Well done sir!
Hey mate thanks for the great review!..no I haven't done that..but a good friend of mine Cam (a hot keyboard player)used to fall asleep whilst playing with his band all the time (the bourbon bottle within easy reach))and then wake up in the middle of a song and continue playing without batting an eyelid! lol...cheers Dave :)
Hey John thanks for the New Year cheers buddy :)..I was just looking at some video of a skiing trip my sister is on with her family from Steamboat Springs, and it makes me happy..hopefully I'll get to travel over to the States and see them soon...all the best for the coming year my friend. Dave
PJB...sounds like you threw this together in 10 minutes man...what? Oh...sorry! Great jam. lol! Not really sure what to think about this one, but the bass is superb. I love the jazz fusion sound on your bass parts. It always makes me think you are playing a fretless because of the "boing" factor. And I agree with JFW, very "Zappaish".
Hehe...thanks man,I always like what you have to say...you've been around the musical block a few times and know the score...the weird thing about this track was the get together with Felix,he'd come down from the top end of Australia to stay with me and fulfil his younger brother's last wish (Cam..probably one of the biggest influence on me musically...a keyboard player and life long friend) of spreading his ashes at a local race track..we played this with Cam's remains sitting on top of my piano........anyway here's to the 'boing" factor! lol..cheers Dave :)
Matey this is blow your mind stuff, man I so love the intro to this one, has a very natural feel about it, whole piece throws of a brillaint relaxing feel, everything working excellent together, clarity and the arrangement every thing working so well with the synths/percussion and fx...Absolutey brilliant...heard some very nice piece's today but this one has to be right at the top, well done mate...Fav big time...Estefano...
Hey mate..all the best for the new year and thanks for the great review..all I really did here was compliment the ground work Eshar had laid down...I'll be doing a lot more music in 2011 as sadly this year a lot of my time's been spent dealing with family issues that ultimately catch up with us all.....cheers buddy Dave :)
I am simply in awe...you are by far the most creative and amazing artist on this site. I swear I have heard this as a soundtrack to a history international program! Very cool.
hey so what software do u use,im starting master ableton live with my midi contollers but i never got the chance to ask u until now.
this sh it sounds like rock if a person played in outer space, and so what if there's no sound out there this track would make sound in space possbale with its incredable amwsomeness.
in short serious and hard hitting work man for real.
Hi mate..well I use Ableton as my main DAW..but I get my keyboard sounds from...well,literally dozens and dozens of software synths..Omnisphere,all of EWQL's range,Absynth, etc, etc and a few old Hardware synths as well,Yamaha DX7...Korg M1..Most of my playing is done on Bass and Guitar though,my primary instruments...thanks for your great review!..cheers planet :)
It is amazing what wonderful music can spawn from a single drum loop. This has the signature Planet bass line, brilliant and elegant, coupled with this marvelous synth work, then layered with JFW's guitar work - exquisite my friend.
It's like this fantastic musical cake.
You took all of the ingredients, mixed them perfectly, and voila, you came up with this masterpiece. What a great way to start my day, with a perfect, flawless Planetjazzbass piece of art.
Thanks Bear....I don't know what it is with music, sometimes I wish I could just sing like Iggy PoP and get angry with the world..but when I sit down and hit record..this sort of stuff come out! LOL...cheers mate and it's fantastic your back on the loop! Dave :)
I went deep into your musical stockpile to hear an older track and saw Chernobel and just had to listen. I recently watched a documentary on the sarcophagus and how volitile and dangerous it can still be.
Man this had a really nice groove to it and I like the use of the effects and vocal samples. I think they were very effective in giving a feeling of chaos and disorder. Sweet bass playing and tone and the pads were a nice backdrop. Very nice composition and execution al round. Great job Dave!
Man, you are an amazing musician..bottom line. The bass performance in this track is epic. and the world drums, tablas and such are a perfect fit. I would put this on par with wome of the Pink Floyd experimentation from the late 70's with a def Jazz anchor. The sax sounds perfect...as a matter of fact everything sounds perfect. Very nice journey you have provided me today Jazz. You are a true master of your craft.
nice jungle jazz to this whole thing. lived listening to it. it is not distracting and can sit in the background of any kind of work. reading, house work and others. nice composition Mr planet.
respect
Thanks buddy...that's a feeling I share with you..I like to listen to music while I'm doing other things...music and house work go together! lol..cheers mate Dave :)
Very nice piece, the pad has that creepy feel about but it is like I have to listen to this sound also, very nice FX, vocal drops great, helping with that wierd feel, man you must have some scary dreams, matey plenty of talent you have, each track beautifully constructed and clarity spot on, spooky but enloyable listen, thank you...Fav'D...Peace n Respect Dave...Estefano....
