Not quite sure I can say anything of any particular use as a 45th comment. Here goes:

I came across this track by briefly checking out Loopradio.

It's that bass tone that really does it for me (plus the playing). Wish I had that tone to my bass playing. I'd like to use it quite a bit.

I must say that the top layer noise swirling atmospheric effects (what is that?) are far too loud for my tastes. They drown out the percussion, which is also really good. I think they're good but interfere too much. At least on the headphones I'm listening on.

And some of those highest sounds within that atmospheric swirling are too piercing and harsh. No one else appears to have felt the same thing (or maybe they just didn't say it) so perhaps it's just me.

I would say it's also a good mix if it weren't for the one big problem of the overly loud swirling.

Otherwise, it's a classy composition reminiscent of deserts or all sorts of other sunny landscapes. Maybe you recorded this in the outback?

Hey Static, thanks for the review mate!..I must say I totally agree with you!I cringe a bit when I listen to my older material these days...in my defense I will say,I know these are going to sound like excuses but their not meant to be(lol)..this track was made 5 years ago and I wasn't totally conversant with my DAW at that stage, let alone the mastering side of things, more importantly though at the time I was using headphones and monitors with a heavy bass response(got rid of them thank god)and as mixes always tend to represent the inverse of their monitor's frequency range the mix is very thin in a lot of places...anyway enough with the excuses!(lol)I really respect your frank and honest appraisal and believe me it's been taken on board..all the best mate. Dave :)

I was thinking about all the work it must have taken to program that percussion...but the rest of the music just picked my ears & mind up & carried them along for the ride...and a great ride it was...aside from that its a real tonic to hear some of the compositional inventiveness that goes into a mix like this.....Wicked, wicked bass...love it...another dandy Dave.....Ed

I came searching for another great travel tune to add to my collection and I've found it - EUREKA!!! This is just about as tasty as they get, superb bass, crisp percussion and Steve on the sax. God man, this is fabulous. I'm burning the mp3 to disc as we speak and then running out to the car to put it in the player, hahaha.

You are a rare gift my friend and the world is a better place with your music in it. Bravo maestro.

I hope all is well. A huge thanks for the download :)

This one goes to my iPod with your permission... :)

The mix is brilliant. Bass and Sax meet at the perfect point... This track is so "cinematic" to me, that it reminds me Eric Serra's work in the early days... Awesome job on mixing your percs !!! Very smart overall mixing in fact !

This is Intelligent Art... There's nothing missing in the recipe...

And... WTF ! you both are very skilled musicians !

Playing a bit of sax, and a bit of bass, I can tell these players will rock your ass... !!! :D

Dude this sucks! (Is that mild mannered enough for you?)

No seriously, I had to home in on this as 50 downloads from this site must be some sort of world record. I can see why it's so popular as well. The combination of atmospherics, percussion and slap's always brilliant sax playing have conjured up a big time winner here.

51 downloads and counting!!!

You seem to have captured the essence of your definition of the human zone. The people's voices in the beginning made for the texture of the piece, the tabla beats give for an asian ethnicity, the sax made the contemporary sounds of the west, the bass gave it the groove, and synthesizer really gave it a modern edge. A piece well compiled for the ears of a higher sound. Will definitely be checking out more of your tracks sir.

Man, you are an amazing musician..bottom line. The bass performance in this track is epic. and the world drums, tablas and such are a perfect fit. I would put this on par with wome of the Pink Floyd experimentation from the late 70's with a def Jazz anchor. The sax sounds perfect...as a matter of fact everything sounds perfect. Very nice journey you have provided me today Jazz. You are a true master of your craft.

Aww man this is slick. I LOVE the bassline (obviously I would coming from you, sir), and Slap softly over top! Are you playing a fretless? I love the smooth sound of a fretless, the way it has no defining boundries of what the note should be other than the artists movement! And the rhythym section gently carries this through. 4th Fav on LM! OUTSTANDING!

Hi Ken..thanks for the cool review mate..actually this is a fretted bass (Fender Jazz of course! lol) I play only with my fingers and very close to the bridge using only the bridge pickup, that's where I get that 'Jaco' tone..in fact my favourite Jaco tune 'Teen Town'is performed by him using his fretted bass....awhile back I sold my fretless five string..and I'm looking for a four string one at the moment..cheers mate Dave :)

Hey mhyst..thanks for the cool review...one thing I've found about using percussion instruments is their ability to get that higher frequency presence without the overload of cymbals that an ordinary drum kit projects...plus I always master the rhythm track first by itself..then add the other elements into the mix and finally do an additional final master...cheers :)

slap is a master.
i think you have managed to take what i have always wanted to say with music... and say it.

i was thinking... about life. the feeling you get when you take a deep deeep deeeeep breath. the solidity. the feeling of life.

time and hunger. the mind. it's nagging effect on the conscience.

i really love this dave. this is... incredible.
can i be really real with you?... have you ever tried distortion? i felt that with a track like this. the human zone, despite the synths... i felt that distortion was needed on your dialogue.

thank you either way. i feel more lost than found in reality than ever.

i agree with mr.e tho, a planet slap CD would be pretty sweet. but try some distortion on size one time?

LOVE IT. FAVORITED.
you know, it reminds of the FIRST track i ever heard on looperman, which was Chernobyl. that thing rocked my world after rei's follow the sunset.

anyways, thank you, highly recommended.

Dave, this is sounding excellent, though there is one thing that is bugging me in it.

The bass sound you use, maybe it's just my speakers, but hits a combination of ugly frequencies that just create a resonant bass sound, I have to work with it in my bassline all the time in hardcore.

I LOVE the use of ambience, sounds like a plain taking off in the background.

Amazing Track!

Wow I agree with a lot of people, the bass in this one is just sweeet! Love the ethnic backbeats too, and Slap is awesome in the sax as always =) It's very atmospheric without overdoing the ambiance, which I think is what's mostly the problem with a lot of chill out tracks. Another thing I like is that great balance between the staccato rhythm of the drums and the smooth notes of the sax. It's strange, but this track gives me a sense of tranquility, but at the same time a feeling of freedom and a want to dance. I really really enjoyed this!

Hi Dave,

Wanted to come over here and see what was going on in the mind from way across the world. Nice drum sounds/beat. I like the synth type bass sound....like a fretless bass sound to me since I also play bass.

Great Sax playing by Slap too. He makes that instrument just talk!
I am working on a rock tune again with some keyboard input this time. I've had a Korg for years and didn't use it a lot, but now I want to add some variety into my tunes as I am running out of ideas.

So thanks for uploading this tune. I see it as a featured as well, so that is great so others can catch it if they missed its opening debut.

Later and thanks for sharing.

The desc reminds me of The Jurassic Park films. Namely, Jeff Goldblum's character and 'the chaos theory'. Then it leads me into I Am Legend. And strangely, I'm left thinking that what the world needs now is... Zombies, flesh eating Zombies. Wait, that isn't right. It's love, sweet love. Silly me!
Eh, maybe someone could blend 'em and make it- Sweet Zombie Love. Yeah, there ya go... Someone needs to make a Zombie love story script. That'd be so great, baahahahahaha!

As for the track, it has this kinda cool awaking/being born kinda vibe to it. Falling back on the Jurassic Park thing from above. A baby T-Rex hatching and opening it's eyes for the first time. And there we'd be 1890 African Safari get up and all, with a bag of Reece's Pieces and a tranq gun to entice the thing to come back with us. Interesting vibes mate. Later on!

Hi Dave, I really dig the mood you have created in this track, it's totally original! The first thing to strike me after the wonderful intro was your bass playing and the sound it has. Wow man that's a sound... I can imagine a lot of players would love to get that sound. The song sounded full and vibrant before I added the soprano ( a kid didn't turn up for a lesson, so I did it then. That's the beauty of carrying the stuff around with you. You can record anywhere). I really love the atmosphere, so I just played and hopefully left enough space for the track to breath...
