Description : Update 12.09.2016 - I widened the Metaled vocals a bit, reduced volume on the "machine" rap section at around 3:00, and also added some effect to make it less harsh. dropped a little the guitar so the drums are louder, and some other small stuff. Let me know if better now :D
This song started with me finding the vocals by Metaled, and thinking what can I do with it. Again, is it rap? Rock? Blues??? Please give me your thoughts on it, and also about the mix, always happy to get input. And if you just listened without commenting, that's cool too my friends. Description : This is something unusual stuff from my side but something very special. First thing i have to say is that Phatkatz made a cigar box guitar by himself and loaded a blues loop up. Next thing was that i just played around with a virtual accordion that is inside my new DAW. the third thing is that i watched a picture on audiosparksforart. Description : Hard rocking, euphoric and triumphant stoner/slide blues rock with dance and deep ambient elements and some tight grooves. Most of the guitar playing is old recycled slide resonator guitar parts of mine put through some fat distortion. Also features some ethereal, ambient timestretched resonator guitar parts (in the middle breakdown section and at the end) plus some electric guitar and a little bit of bass guitar. This has probably the least synth work of any track I've ever made - just a sub bass and a bass arp patch. A few repetitive dance drum hits and the rest is multiple programmed acoustic drum kits, with the main two being a metal kit and a reggae kit (though there's no reggae in the track) and then other rock kits and a "trash kit". No drum loops. Some serious rocking out here so if you like that sort of thing, you might like this. Let me know what was interesting to you and which were your favourite and least favourite sections. Title is an anagram of 'resonator'. I hope the track isn't too painfully loud but it is supposed to be pretty damn loud. Enjoy...

This could be classed as Country Blues or Southern Rock...either way I think it may get your toes tapping. So grab your partner and jump on the dance floor with this one.

Description : This track is the first two sections of what will (hopefully) be a three-part piece — essentially a suite. I am posting parts 1 and 2 because I think they are ready for feedback from Looperman members. Part 3 isn’t done yet because it requires Human League style vocals from a singer with a distinct British accent. I have the melody and lyrics worked out. I sent a private message a while ago to a Looperman member who I think has the right voice for the job. But, haven’t had a response. Until I find a vocalist for it, I can’t finish the piece. In any case, the total file size of the complete piece would be greater than the Looperman limit, so it will have to be split into parts anyway.

Parts 1 and 2, in fact the whole thing, were inspired by acapellas posted here on Looperman by Jacques Demers:

If you haven’t checked out Jacques’ tracks yet, you really should. He doesn’t set them up as “featured” so it might be easy to miss them.

The harmony in Jacques’ acapellas sounded very “Beatle-ish” to me, and that made me want to try my hand at doing a George Martin style treatment. I remembered that ScottsCovers here on Looperman had mentioned an instrument called a Mellotron, which was used by the Beatles, the Moody Blues, Genesis, along with other groups of that era, so I decided to use a VST mellotron as the primary instrument for Parts 1 and 2.

The acapella in Part 2 was in a different key than the one used for Part 1, so I needed to find a chord progression in Part 1 that would modulate the key. Jacques gave me some advice on that, which you can see in the comments on his first acapella.

Part 1 has harp, mellotron flutes, clarinet, french horns, and my attempt at a Penny Lane type trumpet solo (but much simpler). Part 2 has a string ensemble, solo oboe and trumpet in unison, and some Daniel Langois type processed guitars. Both parts were recorded at 60 bpm, largely because that’s where the acapellas seemed to sync best. However, I played the instrument tracks freestyle (rubato), so the tempo actually varies somewhat. Definitely not quantized!

There is a storyline behind this track. Part 1 is the blooming stage of a relationship. Part 2 is about the relationship in decline. Part 3, with vocals, will be about ending it.

I’ve included the transition to Part 3 (which will be a more traditional synth pop section) and just a bit of the first verse backing instrumental so you can get an idea of how things are headed in the final part.

Description : Truly one of my greatest tracks. An intense, constantly changing psychedelic deep groove journey through reggae, rock, metal, funk, blues, electronica, deep chillout and more. Slow, fast, funky, beautiful, weird, fun plus a few more adjectives. Big arpeggiated strings, slide resonator guitar, electric guitars, detuned guitar playing massive funky basslines, wicked wah, squelchy synth bass + other synths, acoustic metal and brush drumkits, hip hop drum hits and no loops. I think I've written this piece several times before but never got around to finishing. It shows my "dark side" (I like synthesisers!) Some of the sections may be a bit long but the main idea was to create an infection groove.

It's an early mix and there's still lots to do but would appreciate some thoughts on what I have so far. Should I stick to Pop, Blues and Rock? Anyway, it's an effort on my part to push the envelope a bit and see what comes out. I hope you like it.
