Description : A psychedelic techno cello epic. It's not really techno as it's only 110 BPM but something like that (eg breakbeat), with lots of banging beats and arpeggiated acid synths, plus a whole load of my layered cello playing techniques. There aren't that many synths used but they do a lot of work and are carefully automated. No guitar. Drums are mostly a lot of drum loops, supported by a few programmed acoustic drumkits. Very busy and complicated with loads of different sections (funky, chilled, fast, heavy) that make up a constantly progressing trip. I don't know if there's any other cello music like this so let me know if you think there is. Interesting feedback appreciated - criticism, praise, ideas etc. Enjoy...

Description : Psychedelic, Eastern, dark dance/jazz/fusion based around my cello playing plus minimal other instrumentation. Two sections of electric guitar, one of Fender Rhodes, one synth pad, some swirling female vocal samples and one sub synth bass. Apart from multiple drum loops and programmed acoustic drumkits, everything else is cello, including most of the weird sounds.

Description : Here is a new song I recorded in my new studio. I played the electric guitars, acoustic guitar, bass, resonator, and sang the vocals, the drums are from Ez drummer. A gated moog, organ, my recorded finger-snaps and a reversed bass guitar effect that sounds like throat-singing. Three movements, divided by moments of calm. Thoughts and feedback are welcome.

Description : Made this song with an iPad and a borrowed acoustic guitar and mic on my old rig. Did this song like 3 years ago. It is mixed horribly because I was still using my desktop speakers to mix it haha (didn't have headphones or studio monitors). I was also sick when I recorded this haha. Made this song in about 5 hours. Seriously considering redoing because I like it so much, despite it's flaws.

The track is a bit minimal and I've tried to allow the multi layered vocals shine and not be over cluttered with much else. Percussion is Superior Drummer (using brushes instead of sticks), bass is a Sterling Sub 4 (a recent acquisition) played in live with an attempt at some funky slap stuff in the last chorus (tricky!) Guitar solo is my trusty Godin XTSA on the acoustic setting. Keyboard is a patch from Logic X.
So good to be working with this quality of vocal. Thanks Farisha.

Description : Here's a collab I made with cool guy who goes by Bell Rosen. He's an interesting guy with an amazing way of instrumentation that I'm not used to. His structure with the acoustic guitar with my structure of general instrumentation made this interesting combination. I will surely try to bring him in this site ASAP to demonstrate his unique styles. Oddly, he is in the same state as me, yet in a completely different time zone. This track was incredible to make. I'm not sure what the genre would be, so considering it has different possibilities, I'll list it as fusion, which would consist of what some fellow loopers call Celtic, Jazz, and New Age. What do you guys think?

Description : Chillout, funky fat 95 BPM organic electro led by some fun, tinkly arps. A bit of an organic, tribal feel, especially when the flutes are playing, and some fat smooth synth basses, plus a big fuzzy one later on as the track gets bigger and heavier. Slide resonator guitar in the second half, including a dual slide resonator solo (2 different resonators playing simultaneously sort of duelling with each other). A few drum loops but mostly 3 programmed acoustic kits. The heavy, double time drumming before the flutes return around 3:53 may be a bit unnecessary (I'm not sure, let me know). Interesting reflections, praise, suggestions and criticisms welcome and appreciated. "Nice track bro"-ers can save that unhelpful type of comment for another track (or 50). I hope listening to this transports you to a magical place, even if it is for only a few minutes...advertisement

The song allowed me the opportunity to try my son-in-laws 1981 Gibson J40 acoustic, my new Dean Resonator Guitar and my new harmonica.

Description : Probably the greatest banj-metal-hiphop-jazz joint ever. With lead saxophone, house bass, rock and metal guitars, Eastern banjo, jazz and hip hop drums and a tasty dose of drum and bass thrown squarely in your face. You can headbang or throw some body-poppin hippity-hoppity shapes to this mofo, for real. A lot of genres covered in 7 minutes so hopefully the time will fly by. And, yes, there really is acoustic banjo as a lead instrument on top of some crunching and crashing metal guitar and drums. Long live Banj Metal!advertisement

Description : This collab is with the OCR Boys, (Bobby & Steve), DJ's at KickinCountry101.com. I got the bass, acoustic tracks and drums and Bobbys vocals. I dusted off the harmonica, brought out the oldFender Strat, the pedal steel and the midi-guitar for the fiddle parts for this one. Not my usual fare but I had been in a few country bands back when country was cool in the 90's.
