Oh yeah, definitely Zep influenced :D Sounds good, Jimmy Page would be proud. Now you just need to get Robert Plant to sing for you!

Thanks...if you have Plant's number can you give him a ring and see if he is free? :)

Thanks for listening.

It's under my own name Burt Philbrick, I haven't set up much more than an FB page specifically for that project and been so busy haven't done much there. Here's one track anyway that I did everything on except the drums are from loop packs. https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/173149

on You Are Never Alone by Spivkurl
We are never alone! That could be interpreted in a few ways too. Worse now with all the social media available at our fingertips. Love intelligent music that makes you think. Listened to this a few times earlier while working on my cookie tin guitar. Checking out your pics, my lab doesn't look like that yet but the way things are going it wont be long before it does!

Hey man, thank you for taking a listen and leaving your words! Honestly, the "You are never alone" line is mostly a complaint... with just a hint of positive affirmation. Living in a decent sized city, I feel that it is very hard to escape from all the BS which is present in modern life. Very happy that your builds have been going well! You mentioned my "pics," and I can't help but wonder which ones you mean. As far as I know, the only actual "lab" pic on the wearerecords.com site is from about 10-12 years ago! Everything else is pretty much studio pics more recently. My actual electronic/design lab is pretty much shut down until I get the new room finished, which should be only a couple weeks. (which is what I've been saying for a couple of months!!) When my lab is consolidated, it's a mess of various lengths of wire, parts, salvaged gear, and vintage toys. I'll be sure to post new pictures when I get it all sorted... I'm on the fine sanding of the hardwood floor now, and will be testing the iron oxide stain later this week. Thanks again!

Speaking of atmosphere, Deviant Internment is my metal project. Atmospheric, death, black, doom, symphonic, cinematic, melodic all rolled into one. Love Gothic!!! Need a bassist for the next one? I have an Ibanez 5 string I like playing for my metal.

I just looked up that name on youtube so I could hear your style but I didn't see anything. Care to toss me a link? Not sure where you've uploaded to but I'd love to hear ^_^

I also have an Ibanez 5 string! Maybe we can figure something out for a future song together ;)
Burtsbluesboxes
Fk yeah! Reminds me of Tristiana. Can we get more please? \m/ I'm due myself to record more metal, been on bit of a blues kick, my other favorite music B) and building cigar box guitars lately. Love symphonic melodic metal especially with a female vocalist trading off with a male vocalists \m/
AxonRise
AxonRise replied 14th Mar 2016 - 9 years ago
Thank you dude! Really glad you liked it! I love heavier symphonic stuff too with "dueling" vocalists, especially when one's melodic and the other is really aggressive. Just compliments the atmosphere even more. I'd like to do another song in this style as well so we'll see where it goes ;)

on The red velvet hat song by joecramer
Sound like a plan :p I'll work on it a bit and send you something a couple days. Maybe your blues lyrics will get used after all. Do you listen to heavy metal while playing with heavy metal? ;) Don't you love when plans change and the songs take control hahaha Accordion has a cool sound, I think I have an accordion vst but not that one. Watch for more unusual instruments in the future. There's so many I'd like to try but the price is too much so why not build cigar box versions :D Slide ukelele sounds like a good idea! Maybe a violin too. I saw plans for making a rawhide bow for use on a violin/cello. I've seen a homemade cigar box (maybe not a cigar box but a big box) cello!

I love when things happend that i didn't had planed .... mostly :)
The blues song is almost ready :) just need the stems to do a real master.
No i don't listen to heavy metal while work on heavy metal. Mostly i listen to radio and there they play not much metal. But thats ok for me :))
Sounds a bit like you will open next the - Phatkatz Srings Manufacture - :)

Love what you did with that loop! It's has a world music sound, the accordion with the cigar box guitar. I think it fits the picture well, she does look like you ;) Love the added depth music can add to pictures. I downloaded plans for a russian folk instrument, a balalaika, that be fun to try and make. I have a few more cbgs in the works and started my first full sized regular electric guitar YAAAYY! It's shaped like a coffin. Beautiful day today so I'm trying to get things cut outside and glued. Did you start on your guitar build? Fav'd here and on audiosparks. Great to hear music played on not so common instruments and that loop was useful! I started something with it just haven't gotten back to work on it anymore. Not sure if I already have a copy of this but downloading and adding to my player now.

joecramer replied 8th Mar 2016 - 9 years ago
Nice to read that you liked what i had done to/with your loop :) cause the accordion improvisation changed your loop completely.

When i watched this pic the first time i had that strange feeling that i know here really well. like a little sister or a loved one from another life. There where a kind of relationship between us both......

No i didn't start this "self made metal guitar project" right now, cause i worked all the last weeks only with real big and heavy metal stuf. I had/have to cut and saw and work out and weld more then 50 tons of square tubes. That is much to much "heavy metal" for me right now :)

Around 36 years ago i had some lessons for 6 month on accordion and then almost 1 year in clarinet, so i am not really new in using not so common instruments. (but i wasn't any good in both)

To be honest, i grabed your loop to do a cool blues track and i had already some lyrics for it and so on and then the accordion came and i couldn't stop .... so maybe we should do a colab on your blues project to finish the first idea that i had :)

Nice to know that you will place this little track on your player, cause i love it to know that people listen to my music outside of any music sides in/on the internet.

So thanks for the listen, the fav's and the dl and your comment

stay tuned

on My Condition by toastedavalanche
Love sci-fi and poetry! Poetry can be such great inspiration for projects. Have a look at public domain poetry(dot)com for tons of poems free to use and abuse any way you see fit, if in need of some inpspiration. Midispark's art site is another good one, composing music to be paired up with images :p Maybe you could take up slide cigar box ukelele? I bet that would get some creative juices flowing ;)

I've been on poetry, com a few times. I have quite a few books as well. But writing lyrics isn't the problem, its just finding inspiration in general. And slide cigar box ukulele sounds awesome!

on Apocalypse 2016 - power version by joecramer
Definitely a punk/rock vibe. This sounds really good properly mixxed :D I like the virtual guitars playing with the real guitars, makes them sound so real! I'll send you those basslines while I'm thinking of it. And I'm putting magix on a memory stick now to try out on my laptop!
joecramer
joecramer replied 27th Feb 2016 - 9 years ago
Hey Burton
nice to read that you could enjoy the mixing of all the steems. I place the virtual ones a bit behind so that your guitars sounds a bit more on top. But you are right this virtual ones sound really not bad ...... Tell Bryan that i love the bass lines he made for the - nothing to fear track - and that i already used them in the Peter Pan track :) .... I hope you like the Magix one or lets better say i hope you can use it for your work.

stay tuned for the next cool track :)

on Tang Butterfly World by DanGoldstein
Really cool Dan! Is this how the butterfly hears the world? That's what I think of looking at the pic and listening. I wonder how it looks through their eyes too!
DanGoldstein
DanGoldstein replied 5th Mar 2016 - 9 years ago
sights and sounds from the butterfly's view - yea - that's pretty much the concept. actually - Drew Relf has taken the threads and come up with a long "journey of the buttefly" sort of narrative which gets back to some gentler material and these harsh threads in the background. I'm sure you will see some of it posted on facebook pretty soon. thanks for stopping by Burt. I hope to propose a collab soon. Dan

on Silent tears by mudhoen
I don't think I've ever heard a sad electronic song! Music is the best medicine. Very well done! The title immediately made me think of this poem
'Silent Tears'

By Henry Kendall
What bitter sorrow courses down
Yon mourner’s faded cheek?
Those scalding drops betray a grief
Within, too full to speak.
Outspoken words cannot express
The pangs, the pains of years;
They’re ne’er so deep or eloquent
As are those silent tears.

Here is a wound that in the breast
Must canker, hid’n from sight;
Though all without seems sunny day,
Within ’Tis ever night.
Yet sometimes from this secret source
The gloomy truth appears;
The wind’s dark dungeon must have vent
If but in silent tears.

The world may deem from outward looks
That heart is hard and cold;
But oh! could they the mantle lift
What sorrows would be told!
Then, only then, the truth would show
Which most the bosom sears:
The pain portrayed by burning words
Or that by silent tears.
mudhoen
mudhoen replied 24th Feb 2016 - 9 years ago
That is a very deep and nice poem which reflects (partly) the mood I am in right now.Poetry is a great art as well. Thank you very much for showing it to me.

It is very hard to make a sad electro track. It will be melancholic the most..:-)

Music is far better than any drug!! What a trip :p You're correct, I was staring at the wall wondering what the hell was happening. For a minute I thought someone put a little something in my coffee. What a description you gave to Promenade! That's the absolute best art, expressing stories through music/sound. You nailed it here.

on Resurrection by Byleth
Revenant - one who returns from death :D another creepy word for you. I heard a story about a guy that drank Draino to kill himself, he managed to destroy his stomache but survived. Everytime he ate he had to poop almost immediately after because the doctors removed his stomache and attached his intenstines to his esophagus. Very interesting story :p Was it warm in hell? Couple more weeks there and you could've skipped all this cold ;)

Here's that Cthulu track I mentioned https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6M_Bm7OTpTc If you're into metal a band called Catacombes does Lovecraft Cthulu mythos themed stuff \m/ I like the beeps, its like being in a yellow submarine in an octupuses garden deep beneath the sea :p Is that spongebob i see?

toastedavalanche replied 28th Jan 2016 - 10 years ago
Thanks for sharing Pkatz. It's very doomy, but I prefer your interpretation if I may say so. You have a better sense of atmosphere and progression.
And Spongebob got eaten by the monster. That will teach him for creeping about an octopuses garden. Filthy creature.

on The Deep Dark by toastedavalanche
I listened to an audiobook 'Creatures of the Abyss' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5oQQ2UtelY About aliens setting up an intergalatic trading post beneath the ocean. They say the ocean is the last great frontier on this planet as we've pretty much thoroughly explored everywhere else. I would not be at all surprised to find out about sea monsters down there. Cool concept :D I did 'The old one Awaketh' about Cthulu. Isn't The Doom that came to Saranth also about sea creatures?
toastedavalanche
toastedavalanche replied 12th Jan 2016 - 10 years ago
I do recall the track actually. I hadn't realized we were dancing (or moshing) around the same themes. My title is even similar to yours!
I do love the work of Lovecraft, he's the king of written dread. I haven't read Saranth, but I do love Shadow Over Innsmouth.
I'm glad you are as fascinated about the subject as I am, there's just so much you can do with it creatively

on The wild warrior by joecramer
I can see your Observer warriors dancing around a blazing fire in a ritual dance, surrounded by others on the djembes. Dan likes cannibals, they clubbed him a few years ago in Dark Ritual, then had him for dinner. Said he tasted like chicken. Maybe this is the same tribe. I need a better mic too! I don't have much noise problem as I record vocals/spoken word at work with no one around in a quiet enviroment. I use Izotope rx3 for noise removal. Audacity works too but I find it damages the audio. Sounds good though. I have a boiling murder that never got used, maybe the cannibals get a hold of you ;)

No black candle this time; just something a little positive for a change :p
And keep practicing with your voice. Mine is never as good as I want it to be. But just hum along to whatever you're writing and you might surprise yourself; you may have a style of voice that fits the song :)
