TV!! Good to see you man! I love the swirly effects on the jamming guitar leads. Yes, lets hope we all find peace through our music and the clearing. You likely remember me as phatkatz4, name change reflecting my new passion.
Hey Hey Hey Just reading the comments about Leonard Cohen, I got the guitar tab for Hallelujah. We might need to do something with that :) I'm only working one job now and all moved, quite the difference from when I was active here before! See if I can do some catching up.
You know it - i am always open for some colabs. Hopefully we do some great stuff again. I am working on a handmade synth pc all in one radioRacktive SoundSystem with the nice name - DiAn v1 and or AnDi v1
Wow it's great to hear these older recordings! 3 years ago, what a time. I'm hoping to do lots of music related stuff with winter almost on us here I'll be indoors alot more. How's things in your world Joe? I haven't been playing my 6 string guitars for a while, alot of slide guitar, but I see I was going to do some solo stuff on this, that may just be a good place to start again.
Much to much work on this side of the ocean my friend. But for making some music with you i will always find some time. I think i have all the steems and stuff and so we could do a nice final version. Send me an email when you need something
Great to be back recording, writing again Joe. I shared Joe and Burt Beyond the sky with some of the leaders of the homemade instrument revolution, they were very impressed with what we did! I know I'm a bit late to the party, thought I'd come raise the dead. Variety is what makes this place interesting with unusual tracks like yours. You know how much I like dark music, love you minimalistic approach here. I need to make a cigar box guitar christmas tune for a mix album, interested?
Oh wow, i missed your comment Burt :) So i am a little late for christmas... mmmm at least for this year. Thanks for your warm words. I hope that we can do some day some new stuff together. Hopefully all is good on your side?
I like the tension you've created, and that choir really adds to it. Love the strings coming in at about 1:12, does help set the mood. Nice and dark, just the way I like it.
Rigor Mortis is one of the bands that really got me into metal. Very sad hearing of his passing but at least he was doing what he loved. We have no control over what becomes of our material possessions when we go. As guitarist oud guitars mean the world to us, to others they just be a hunk of wood and metal. In my time away from here I've become very involved in homemade/handmade instruments and accessories like picks and slide and handwound pickups and have to say they definitely have more mojo than factory made/production items. Your title is right on :D Some do play themselves, were just the medium that makes it happen.
My wife is Asian (Vietnamese) and had to endure some horrific things as a child and survivor of the war in Vietnam. She has told me of things she witnessed that made my skin crawl. She very much believes in ghosts. She also has a strong belief that certain peoples personal possessions can become their link to this world when they die. She wont let me buy items from a pawn shop any more.
80s splatter film music! :D Ethereal is a good description. I could picture like a Resident Evil type sci fi horror film with this. Very cool Jamid, I like.
Cool story. Rigor Mortis guitarist Mike Scaccia died on stage while playing his guitar, maybe it's his! Steve doesn't believe ghosts are real, he should come to work with me LOL! :D Bear nailed it, nice clean soulful playing, always a pleasure Neo. Thanks for getting the annual Haloween thread going, coming up quick! I was trying to play with the Boneshaker yesterday when I got called into work...
OMG I remember that Burt ! I had seen him with Ministry at Lollapalooza and had been to the Rail Club in Fort Worth many times but not the night he died. Yeah I remember hearing he collapsed on stage and died shortly after. I doubt that one of his guitars would be at a Pawn shop, but you never know! I think Steve is just goofing on us with a play on words. Of course ghosts aren't real. Reality is term associated with life. They are un-real.
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!! :D How's it going Silverman, good to see you're still at it. I like the trippy sounds in my right ear in the beginning, makes me think I'm hanging out in a lounge and the monster locked up in the other room is screaming for his ice cream.Maybe it's you after being ressurected from your former life as the hearse driver killed by Jamid's girl on a motorcycle LOL!
I was just thinking about this song this morning talking with a local musician that does graveyard blues! Great to hear from you, definitetly we need to do more! I still have this guitar, my first homemade and cant part with it :D I've taken up winding my own pickups now too. If you ever get to building your own metal one I'll have a pickup with your name on it. Notice the name change, more in line with what I'm up to these days. Ok back to work, talk soon.
Thanks for weighing in Burt! I understand everybody has opinions and I'm hip to any and all feedback. I know I'm not the best at mixing, so I'm open to any and all critique. Glad you like this. Threw in a lot of tight picking and plucking technique on the lead. Bit of aggressive country styling ala Brad Paisley.
Definitely understandable Neo, for many months I didn't even touch my computers, build or play anything, slowly came back to me. Life happens to us all, for good and bad. I thought a name change was in order reflecting how things have changed in my life. Man, I have some catching up to do here! Sometimes we all need a break, we can get burnt out and lose interest. It's nice to come back with a fresh view and inspiration. Great to see alot of my old friends still here, even though I will likely never meet you guys in person, we still enjoy very much one another's company here. I did get to meet the guy I learned to build guitars from in person and a number of facebook friends at Maine's first annual cigar box guitar festival, what a GREAT time!! Hope to see you involved in this years Halloween thread, should be boneshakingly good.
Hey Burt, thanks for the responses. Just wanted to let you know the Halloween thread is up so hopefully you and others will give us some cool new tracks for scaring up some fun at the big Trick or Treat this year !!!
I recently got a Bone Shaker cigar box I'm preparing to turn into a sweet guitar, the name caught my attention looking through tracks here tonight. I'm hoping to take part in this years Halloween thread, even better, I'll record a tune on the Boneshaker guitar !How's it Going Neo?
Hello Burt, I almost didn't recognize you with the name change. Nice to hear from you. I have been extremely busy for many months with family issues, work and with my other hobby, my artwork. I literally haven't played or even opened my DAW in at least 2 months. I guess I have really gotten off track music-wise and that makes me sad. I think it really stems from what I perceived as an overall loss of interest here at Looperman among most of the members that I had developed a rapport with. Many had simply dropped off the radar entirely. This is entirely understandable, since we had all been doing this for quite a few years. I fully realize nothing lasts forever. Anyhow, I do still love music and I'm always listening. However I am starting to feel some serious withdrawl symptoms from not creating. Hopefully I can get things sorted out and get back on here with something new soon. Maybe the Halloween thread will encourage me to get going again. I'm at the least interested in hearing what you come up with from the Bone Shaker cigar box. Thanks for the comment Burt and yeah, looking forward to rejoining the fray real soon. So stay tuned !
Music is the sound of emotions, regardless of how we make it. It's an expression of what we're feeling, our soul speaking. Very very cool tune Marty. I'm a huge lo fi fan. Maker/player of homemade instruments, how's that for lo fi ;)
How you been Orlando the painter of sound? Been a while, good to hear your still at it. Beautiful.... It's like remembering, maybe driving away from a past life on to bigger and better things, reminiscing of good times gone by. Like the enjoyable time I had here in the past :D Can feel this one for sure!
For a few seconds I was wondering "who the hell is this guy?"...haha...Welcome back Burton my friend...are you still building unique guitars? In any case nice to have you back and thank you so kindly for your positive feedback and the fav ! See ya along the road...
He did the mash, the moster mash :p Was this recorded at the crossroads? Maybe Satan on drums. Nothing like the blues neo! I need to pick a monster for my Halloween track this year, already had Rotting Horde the zombie blues band lol!
I figured the Halloween thread would entice a lot of you guys out of hiding ! Yeah its always fun and I know you dig it for sure. I have done Zombies, Frankenstein, Demons and now The Wolfman, so I'm making my way through the list! I actually started on a rockabilly Vampire thing but also had the main riffs for this that just took off quicker. I really wanted to do something more campy, with some old classic movie lines. If I get the time I may still try to finish it. If not I will have a good start for next year.
Ed Gein in the original leatherface :p Did leatherface have a nipple belt too? Brutal \m/ definitely a shortage of this style around here! \m/ more plz
Hey Joe, good to see this up on the featured page again :D I've gotten a number of new guitars recently and got my workshop mostly built. Moving very soon, we'll have to collab again! I don't like forced breaks from writing/recording.
Time is on my side, yes it is ..... nice song but not true right now :) I hate it also be forced to do things. I hope you will enjoy your new place and that you got the feeling you invest your time into something good. Whenever you found the time you need to do some cool guitar work or else, just fb me. I still have no time but sometimes i just need some good steems to find some time :)
Hey CM, what's there to say, beautiful... `Love your work with Sunny. I built that guitar for her, but evidently the pickup I used was bad so had to remove it with all the wiring arrrgh and now it's packed with all my other guitar projects, no shortage of those, awaiting my new home where I'm setting up a shop for building and recording. I'll let you know when it's complete and ready for shipping(be a few months). I found your site with the Sunny Sessions, great listening!
Hey phatkatz, no problem on the guitar. I may not be seeing Sunny for a while so you can always connect with her directly as well, you may already have thru Facebook, which is cool. In the last week of the Sunny Sessions, I got laid off from my job, which is hilarious. Perfect timing, cuz any earlier and I'd've had to stop. The six months working with Sunny were the most creative - and creatively satisfying - in my life. Sunny's not only a fountain of music, she's a magnet for it, and she pulled music out of me like never before. The songs came so easy, and the recording sessions were so loose and fruitful, with the three of us in the room (incl. recording engineer) becoming the tightest little song making team you ever saw. Man, it was beautiful. A very special time for me. I'm sad it's over, but then again I have 3 solid hours of Citizen Mofo ft. Sunny War songs to enjoy for the rest of my life, and I just couldn't be happier with the results. Thank you for all your support along the way! And have fun in your new home!
