AAHHHH SUNDAY!! Shortest horror story, beginning of my work week! Nice clean mix, did you play the piano and slide guitar on a midi keyboard? Sounds good B-)
PapaNelson
PapaNelson replied 7th Jun 2016 - 9 years ago
:D very true my friend haha! And thanks (: Honestly, it was a bunch of layering of recordings with different velocities on the midi. I'm not really a piano player (can't read notes, play by ear and hand positions lol), and the slide guitar was a sample actually! I just really wanted to how the guitar some love, considering how much I love the sound of it haha. Anyways, I always ramble on im sorry, but thanks for the comment man (: It means the world to have people listen!

I listened to this back the beginning of last month just as spring was starting. Feels like summer now! You sure captured the spring vibe and the new beginnings. HA! I knew that guitar was Ed before I read it! Awesome job guys, nailed it :D Now where's that waitress, I need more coffee.

on Cocaine by silverman
Legalizing drugs would take the power away from the dealers., but you know how our governments just love to tell us how to live our lives as if we can't make our own choices.... Marijuana was my drug of choice, have since given that up though in favor of music ;) Always good to experiment, that's how we grow. Did you do a line before this? It's upbeat enough LOL!

on Icy World by Byleth
SLAYER!! \m/ 3:)> oh you're talking about a guitar vst ;) Ever listen to any black metal like Darkthrone? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iaj2w7Bp58 That has a very cold sound to it. This does have a chilly feel. Hopefully sometime this century I'll get some guitar recorded for you. This must be outside high up on the mountain making our way to the fiery boss battle deep in the heart of the mountain.
Byleth
Byleth replied 1st Jun 2016 - 9 years ago
hehe,I think my brain was not ready to open the link. Seriously thanks for the link but I think I do not like that genre.

Im again happy about the fact you noticed the cold effect I tried to make.

''Hopefully sometime this century'' I hope too. im Thinking about our collab on ice we can only make a collab for Fiery Battle so its will be easier for you and a shorter project.

Finally, the current ice world called Grazial is only ice and snow so no mountains and the fire world called Singi is place in the opposite direction of Grazial. Anyway your idea was nice.

Peace and plz pm soon with the guitar recorded :P

on Saturday Bugpop by DanGoldstein
What's terrifying is the fact ants outnumber us us something like a million to one and they're super strong for their size! I think they found some food they're dismembering. If you've seen some metal concerts where the crowd in front (the mosh pit) is going in a big circle, that's the reference there. Definitetly something animated/cartoon of bugs dancing. Maybe the ants are having a ball after a hard summers work :p https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWAIOuWoa6g I love these silly symphonies.
DanGoldstein
DanGoldstein replied 7th Jun 2016 - 9 years ago
I actually saw an image in the National Geographic which reminds me of what you are talking about. It is a massive crowd of athletes forming concentric circles into a human tower base at the center. I think ultimately this track did manage to be joyful rather than terrifying but it doesn't have the pop in parts that i want and might try one more mix. Also fadeout ending is generally a copout in my book so want to correct that.

on Way Back When by EazyBeatz
It does sound similar. I like the hip hop type bass kicks that join in. Oooh harmonica, I'm a string guy, guitar bass and stuff, I may have to hit you up for some blues harmonica B-) A bass guitar groove would be an excellent addition, but very good otherwise. The harmonica makes me think a bit of Neil Young, very cool.

How about an ant mosh pit? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asfDBdob1tA Makes me think of that animated Disney movie Ants or A Bugs life. Can't wait to see the pic it gets paired with.

Burt that is terrifying! and what is going on in the middle? I do have something leaning towards cartoon or animation in my mind for the image. Figuring I will stumble onto it when I have completely forgotten about it.

on Modnex - Blue Drugs by Modnex
Now that's the way to do it!! Love stories through music. I worked in a casino for 3 months, housekeeping, terrible job, I'll stick to my banks thank you!! The things you could find between the slots... One guy got stuck with a needle. One day the power went out, everything went black and silent. I hung out by the security guard that was an ex marine/new york homicide detective 'til everything came back on hahahaha Believable story here, maybe not so much the guy dodging bullets like the Matrix(maybe he got lucky and they were a bad shot ;) )You set the scene well, high energy and the casino music sounds like casino music. The cops are great! Where did you get the cop samples? Wouldn't it have been easier to throw them some doughnuts? First rule about fight club, we don't talk about fight club.
Modnex
Modnex replied 20th May 2016 - 9 years ago
Thanks Phatkatz! I agree, music with a background story makes the music even better and more interesting to listen to. Plus, if you ever make a music video, it would be much easier and faster to do it, because you already have a story line. Yeah, the matrix part probably takes off the real bit, but then again, you'd be surprise what people could do when high on drugs lol.

The police sounds came from a movie, I think. Not too sure, I found it sitting on some free website, so decided to use it. Thanks for all of the kind words, much appreciated. Have an awesome day! :)

on The Warm Glow Of Yesterday by StaticNomad
I like the minimalistic approach, everything centered around the cello groove. I need to make one of them, too poor to buy one ;) You may like this guy, Adam Hurst cello player https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNm6YvTdFRg his is a bit darker but this reminds me a little of his playing, the cello as the main with other instruments accompanying it. Pretty soon we'll be able to upload up to 20mb tracks so no restraint will be necessary! I could listen to this for hours. Only suggestion, make more please.
StaticNomad
StaticNomad replied 16th May 2016 - 9 years ago
Yo.

I'd never heard of Adam Hurst but he's very good. Wish I could play like that but my bowing is still shit. It's so damn hard!

"I like the minimalistic approach"

There are some notable other instruments here but I've been focussing so much on the cello for the last 2 months, trying to use it over and above my other instruments as I explore its possibilities. You can make it go fully badass just by sticking it through some fat distortion. I have a very unfinished cellometallo track in which no one will believe they're not hearing distorted guitar.

Good to hear you liked this.

"Only suggestion, make more please"

I'm trying and I have a few more in the works, pretty much all of which are dance or dance-related tracks. This is easily the best major cello track I have. I guess as I improve, I'll be able to play more styles.

Thanks again.

on Modnex - Never Forget by Modnex
What Pete said :p also try studying a bit of theory, so much free info available now a days!!! and put things into practice (try them out) as you learn, really helps me create new stuff. Experiment experiment experiment! Try listening to other types of music you like, that usually helps spark some ideas. I've been listening to Wardruna lately, Nordic viking music, I love it. Try different genres, step out of your comfort zone. I'll write blues, then metal, then something else. I really need to rty my hand at electronic. I like the white noise, keep it ;) Such a happy piece, what more can I say .
Modnex
Modnex replied 12th May 2016 - 9 years ago
Learning theory would probably help a lot. Those are all great tips. I actually was looking into blues and classical the other day. Both genres are interesting and would be quite a journey to make. A great journey, that is. So, I may try getting into that.

Thanks for all of the helpful tips and for all of the support, always appreciated!

potential for sure! That high end is a bit annoying, would sound more pleasing if some of the higher frequencies were cut(turned down). Nice emotional tune, maybe add a bit of choir? Love the piano! It does build nicely then just fades to nothing like an outro.

Looks aren't everything ;) I bet even Pazuzu gets the girls. I love how you create your own little worlds and characters like H.P. Lovecraft did with his writings. Where's this nightclub at anyway? Sounds like a cool place, well, maybe a bit warm if it's in hades.
Byleth
Byleth replied 3rd May 2016 - 9 years ago
that's true Pazuzu is even a gogo boy for this nightclub.

The nightclub is somewhere in the void and don't worry the temperature is not warm but pretty cold like the freeze you like a Popsicle. And again don't worry the girls and boys are hots in the nightclub so its make a isolate tropical climate around the nightclub. I would recommend you to use a precise teleportation device to be near the nightclub.

Finally if you want to visit it tells to the manager you are sent by Byleth he might not eat you and give you free drinks.

Peace.

Ready for some blues Joe? I've been trying to give you a break, as well as finish up some guitars myself, so you could do some of your electronic music like this B-) Very dark, just how I like it. I like that violin and the eerie sound fx. Too many labels for music now a days... I feel hyptotized O.O
