Description : This hymn, (also known as the Navy Hymn), was my wifes grandmothers favourite hymn. Wasnt familiar with it. The Wikipedia article had an arrangement which I used for this track. Harmony is not my work, but the orchestration is. Made the track more as an exercise in exploring harmony, counterpoint, and orchestration. I realize this is not anything close to the norm of tracks here on Looperman, but its always good to stir things up a bit, right?
Description : Typically, I'm not a fan of this extremely popular and overused chord progression, but it worked out well with my new equipment/strings/piano and DAW. So whatever works, right?
Midi recording is live on everything, sans the drums. I had to compose/write those in to make sure I had something to work with live. I especially love me some french epic horns.
***Decided Gm would be more fitting for the track, so re-recorded a lot of the parts.
Description : This started out as an exercise in learning how to do a rolling bass line. Seems simple enough but getting the velocities set right and finding the right amount of swing took me a while to work out.
Then just decided to put it to good use - added some pads and a variety of vocal loops that are included with Logic Pro.
What I really wanted to do was make a track that was as well-crafted as the latest stuff from Bob Moses. But, thats still out of reach for me, Im afraid.
