Description : I posted this song some time back, but removed it after I entered a consultant agreement on the video with machinma.com. I decided to alter it so I could retain the rights to my music and give it away free. It is a song I made for a portal machinima video. It is only the second song I ever attempted vocals for, but it is fairly popular in the machinima community none the less. If you want to watch the video here is the link:

This industrial track was uploaded by RayKoefoed. They retain full copyright and you are only entitled to listen and in some instances download. For further details on how you can use tracks see the terms and conditions and the tracks section of the help area.

ThePissedOffRobot 1st Apr 2012 03:52 - 14 years ago

You should put up a acapella of this. I would love to remix it. Great song man!

CyberSon 20th Jun 2011 09:53 - 15 years ago

Hey Ray

This track is totally awesome! I really love the pitch bending with vox and the celtic feel. I only know a little about Portal, but this track really does illustrate it for me. Very inspirational work! Excellent and faved for certain!

Kirb 2nd Jun 2011 07:32 - 15 years ago

hey I wanted to know where did your demo go of your up coming CD? it had a rocking part in it it was like the first 30 seconds of it it was a heavy guitar riff i love that will you be putting that up so we can here it any time? that would be wonderful

RayKoefoed replied Unknown - 2028 years ago

Sorry Kirb. I took it down. I plan on being finished with the album in the next few weeks and then I will be posting the finished tracks. I think I know which song you are talking about. I have a feeling that will probably be most peoples favorite out of all of them.

Fuuuuu 14th Apr 2011 01:37 - 15 years ago

Two words to describe my reaction to this song: Impressed and amazed.

Portal is a gift from god and this song really made me smile.

Sweet! I had heard it before after I saw the video for that Machina vid for TrackMania. Brings back good times with Portal. The video's so cool also. That chorus is so damn catchy lol. Hopefully we will get another tune for Portal 2 from ya Ray. Cheers :D

StephenPotter 23rd Jul 2010 15:59 - 16 years ago

The video was great for this track, do you still play gmod ray? Cos I'd like to talk to you on it sometime.
The lyrics are great, must have taken ages to do and I think this is probably the best tribute to portal thats out there.. its the only reason at the moment I miss my xbox (because I can no longer play portal) The chorus singing is great, and it sounds like one of the turrets. I like the part about the companion cube, that was my faviroute line in the song.

I also said a great comment to you about it on youtube, congrats by the way for having over 1 million views on the video.

I favourited this one because you must have spent a ton of effort on this track, plus more for the video.

Ste :)

RayKoefoed replied Unknown - 2028 years ago

Thanks a lot Stephen. I haven't done much with gmod lately. In fact, I don't even have any of my HL2 stuff on my PC anymore. I have kind of been trying to move on to making original cut out type animations to avoid the copyright issues with machinima videos. I am sure it would be fun to hang out with you in the game, but the truth is that I never set up the Steam friend thing. I only played it off line to avoid all of the extra addons uploaded from other people that would have slowed things down worse then they already are.

Thanks again for the very nice review and comment on YouTube. Feel free to send a friend invite to me there if we aren't already friends on YT.

i like this.. this is trippy ass cool stuff

CrashTheSystem 27th Jun 2010 23:50 - 16 years ago

Oh wow i had no idea that you made this masterpiece! A while back i was watching sum portal vids cuz i was just starting the game and i found that and i instantly fell in love with it! Now i found out you made it and i couldnt be more surprised. Btw i used sum of your lyrics in a song i will send you the link once i upload it thanx a ton!

rfalkenburg 27th Jun 2010 18:35 - 16 years ago

Listened to this halfway while I was reviewing your website, and then watched the video in full. Thats cool, but as I am not familiar with half life, a lot of it didn't make sense, but to be able to create that was neat. I also checked out your art. The snake bite was interesting and I appreciate the Greek ruin. There is a guy here that draws serious angel warrior stuff. I will get his site if you are interested. I can't draw so I use a camera. www.RussFalkenburg.com. check it out if you get a chance.

phantomhim 26th Jun 2010 01:17 - 16 years ago

Have you been playing portal? : )

Very orig, very nice stuff, off to the next track...

ChaseManhattan 10th May 2010 17:51 - 16 years ago

the beginning is awesome lol.

the lyrics match well with the beat. i like it a lot. a new fav!

After_The_End 19th Apr 2010 14:30 - 16 years ago

yeh, im into this love the beats and the feel....

Sobea 17th Apr 2010 23:29 - 16 years ago

The first time I saw the Taste the Cake machinima, which was several months ago now I believe, I fell in love with this song. Incidentally, this is the very first song from Mr. Ray Koefoed that I heard. It almost got me in the mood to replay Portal just to hear all of GLaDOS's hilarious one liners.

RayKoefoed replied Unknown - 2028 years ago

thank you Sobea. It is a fun game. I am looking forward to the new portal 2.

Alen9R 13th Apr 2010 01:41 - 16 years ago

wwooowww!!
what to say ...........
fav. for sure
You put great vocal from the girl!!
finish of track,with Irish tune

RayKoefoed replied Unknown - 2028 years ago

Thanks again 9Rihter. Yeh, I did some pitch bending and other effects for the chorus. It was meant to sound like the turrets in the game. It is cool you say it sounded Irish, because I always try to go for a celtic sound with string instruments.

jethro2010 8th Apr 2010 15:14 - 16 years ago

Wow I am amazed its so original and catchy love it!!!!!
keep it up!!!

RayKoefoed replied Unknown - 2028 years ago

dj_anthro 19th Mar 2010 18:27 - 16 years ago

this track be great, man why did not valve get you into their music division?

RayKoefoed replied Unknown - 2028 years ago

Funny you mention that Anthro. I sent an email to the job department of Valve last weekend (when I learned they are making Portal 2), and said I was applying for the job of making the music for the credits and gave them a link to the video. I of course haven't heard back. It would be great though.

Smith 28th Feb 2010 02:27 - 16 years ago

Awesome completely genius:)Your right about the cake!Damn cake was evil. That was a damn hard game when i played it but of course i used cheats:/ Anyway good song man!Peace!

RayKoefoed replied Unknown - 2028 years ago

Thank you for the nice review Smith. I thought it was tough too the first time. I am anxious to see what they do with Portal 2. I know now they are making one.

Salook 22nd Feb 2010 22:41 - 16 years ago

Hey Raykoefoed, caught this in the feature box, saw your name and gave it a listen, man i knew this would be great before i even pressed play. love what you do and the stories within your music, that was a tasty piece of cake man, cheers.

RayKoefoed replied Unknown - 2028 years ago

Thanks for the nice comment Salook. I am pleased you liked the taste =)

DJAid 8th Feb 2010 20:45 - 16 years ago

Kinda eerie track but it sounds great. Both vocals regular/ Pitched are cool as hell too. Nice instruments too. The beats basic but brings great flow to the track. Nice track Its going on my favs.

RayKoefoed replied Unknown - 2028 years ago

Thank you DJAid

LittleRailTrouble 1st Feb 2010 04:30 - 16 years ago

The song was awesome. I watched the machinima video aswell it was hilarious...Very very cool.

RayKoefoed replied Unknown - 2028 years ago

Thank you. For some reason that is the most popular video I have done yet. It is funny, because I sent it to machinima as just an idea for making my own music for videos. I guess I need to go back to making music for fun and stop trying so hard to progress. Anyway, thanks for the nice reply.

RogueAi 21st Jan 2010 14:51 - 16 years ago

Great track! I played this game and thought wouldn't those voices be cool in a song?

RayKoefoed replied Unknown - 2028 years ago

Thanks Travis. I know what you mean. The sound effects seemed like they were even meant to be in some kind of strange techno song, to me.

DextDee 21st Jan 2010 09:16 - 16 years ago

oh my first love with raykoefoed, always loved this bass man, and yes i remember this track. as soon as i played it again i knew it was familiar b4 the bass came in.
glad to c it back.

DextDee

RayKoefoed replied Unknown - 2028 years ago

Thank you DextDee. It is funny how it works, that bass track was something I just threw together to go with another instrument. The instruments I spend a lot of time on trying to make sound as good as I can don't end up being as good as the ones I don't put much effort into. I haven't quite figured it out yet. It almost seems like music isn't meant to be too fine tuned or tweaked.

theHumps 21st Jan 2010 08:51 - 16 years ago

This was very cool and a little different approach with the vocals. There was just the right amount of production in this song, wasn't overdone, just perfect.

RayKoefoed replied Unknown - 2028 years ago

FrankysDevCorner 21st Jan 2010 06:44 - 16 years ago
