Thanks MrBen!
Recording was done going direct into the audio card, plus 3 mikes for drums (2 OH +kick). I was surprised by how good it sounded :-)
Take care, Domenico
As a rehearsal recording this is absolutely fabulous ! Also watched the youtube video and my impression of a very skilled and tight band got even more emphasized. Your band truly demonstrates high standards on all levels. Keep up good work !
Thanks for the kind words.
Actually I am not in this band anymore: I am now playing in a "german pop band" ... after 15 years living here German lyrics still sound a bit exotic to my ears :-)
This track was the last one I uploaded here... I need to get more active!
Take care, Domenico
Wow......it is a great song Domenico...love the vocal & its delivery & the accompaniment is as good as it gets...the limiting doesn`t seem to hurt the dynamics at all so you must have done more than a little work there too...I have done a little live work (mainly just taking feeds from the main mixer & a room mic or 2) so I know a bit about the challenges...you did a great job my friend....and you have a superb result to show for it...you have a talented band....I will buy a ticket if you ever come here.....cheers....Ed
Hi Ed,
Sorry for the huge delay in replaying.
Thanks for the kind words.
If I should ever get close to you I will definitely try to meet you in person: it would be a great honor for me.
Take care, Domenico
Hi there!
i prefered go on youtube, and watching your live was a great experience! relly good sound!
i hope like me others people will share your video on the web, sometimes nature give us good virus, it's the case with your rock band!
respect for your work!
Nice practice recording Domenico, we miss you're music around here! I like the song, it reminds me of a song from the 90's and like Spiv I can't put my finger on it. That must mean it has a professional sound, the real deal.
I've been down my friends house recording his band live a few times. His room is an echo chamber so the drums are big and lost, they sound awful when we record them. We use a set of mics designed for the small kit using 3 mics, one at the kick, one under the ride/above floor tom, one near the snare/hihat/crash. How important to you is making the rehearsal space sound proofed and a bit dead sounding to get the drums better? Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks for the nice comment Wayne.
I also believe that this song has a "90s commercial" taste but I cannot point a specific song.
Regarding how to record, I'll send you a PM with my contacts if you want to get more details.
I also recorded the drums with 3 mics only and in these cases the "room sound" makes a huge difference: you can get good results only if the drums have a good "live sound". This mic configuration captures what you are hearing and it's hard to improve this.
There is something really special about this song, and the sound you've achieved in it! It is reminding me of something I've heard, but something which I heard so long ago that I can't even place what I'm thinking of. I can hear a song in my head, but can't make the connection to who it is. That does not matter though, what matters is the potency of this song!
The performances are are spectacular from what I'm hearing. The mixing is especially good for a live performance. I don't know if it could sound any better!
I too would like to get an album of this group, and I will bookmark your website as soon as I'm done with this comment. Thank you for sharing the very cool music! Love it! Fave!
Thanks Spiv. I am on a learning curve: this is the 3rd session where I am trying to record something for a video. I think that I improved on the mixing part, but it must be said that this song was also "less challenging": to mix/master hard rock songs where much more is going on requires a lot of skill.
Take care, Domenico
A band is a band is a band.
Great stuff Domenico. I bet you had invest much time into this one and you really didn't waist any second of it. You all did a good job and i enjoyed the listen. I am not a mastering expert so i can't say any on what you should do to make it sound better. But if you want you can send me the steems and i will do a Joe Cramer mastering for you :)
Thanks for the kind words Joe!
Unfortunately I can't send you the stems for a remix, it would have been interesting.
I am always trying to improve: I think that this recording was already at a good level, I am not so happy about the quality of vocals (but this is probably due to the microphone we used).
Ciao, Domenico
Wow I just watched you old dudes on the tube and you are rocking!
The standard of stuff on here is so high!
Me I'm just an old fart (64) who messes about as a hobby and I know I'm never going to reach such dizzy hights.
Thanks for the kind words Silverman.
We are hobbyists as well and playing music is fun: that's the main purpose of it!
So, keep rocking man!
Ciao, Domenico
Great to see rockers here on the loop ! We are just a few my friend hehe, so keep droppin some angry distortion ! Really like this one, congrats on this work !
Rockers are everywhere!
Maybe we are "under-represented" on a loop website, but I think that's kind of natural: rock is sweaty people in a small room making huge noise! :-)
Ciao, Domenico
Warning: The following comment contains Adult content (language) because Neomorpheus totally lost his composure when listening to this kick ass f'n track!
WTF! Thats a killer f'n track man! Holy f'n shit! You guys are an awesome band! Wow, i'm really impressed bro. I had no idea you were on this level. After checking out the website I can tell I definitely need to pick up some of your albums. Andrea has a fabulous voice, lots of power and range, perfect for this type of music. I love this style of music and with Andrea at the mic it's a different sound from the older stuff. Very Amy Lee - Evanescence sounding. All the instruments are spot on tight. Extremely well played Guitar, drums, and the bass player killed it man! How long have you guys been together? Didn't see that reference on the website but its obvious you guys have been playing together for a while to be this tight. As far as any suggestions, my only thought would be to tweek the high eq on the vocal track a bit more, Andreas voice sounds a bit muffled in spots. I imagine the album version will take care of all that anyhow.
Great stuff mrwolf, best of luck to you guys. By all means let us know when this is available to purchase. Thanks for the preview and the look into your rehearsal room. That is super cool shit right there. Huge props and much thanks.
And thank for the input on Andrea's voice: I also believe that we should improve the quality here. She uses a wireless system from Shure (not sure about the model). She has a better model for concerts, but I think that the one we use regularly has too much "mids" and it gives her a nasal/muffled voice.
Take care!
Domenico

Description : This is my newest creation, at a stage very near to completion. No third-party mastering or mixing, as with all my tracks. Just have to fix a few tiny things. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO MIX EVERYTHING IN THE SAME SESSION. This song has all human-played instruments - no quantization or MIDI! My brother does all the vocals except for the interlude part, which I do. My other brother plays the rhythm guitar (a Gibson Les Paul Custom - only one of 12 in the world!!) and I play the accompanying guitar (a Johnny Mar Jag and PRS). He has a lot of guitars :P A good friend of ours, Ronnie, plays the bass and another friend, Freddie, plays the drums. The drum track was done in one take (had to use an electric drum set due to time constraints - but acoustic kits are so much better). Overall, pretty satisfied with the result. Let me know your thoughts.
Description : Feel free to check out the lyrics video on YT as well :) This is a new track based on the great vocals by Ashes and Dreams! Again, a mix of electronic/progressive/rock, any feedback is welcome
Description : The first track I sing on. Cheap stage mic & no fancy plugins. Heavily guitar laden to the point it's got a bit of a shoegaze thing going on. I pulled the lyrics out of my ass & yes, they're a bit silly.
Description : This song was not supposed to be the fourth track of "Diverse waves", but it finally is. Anyway it's a rock oriented track with some interesting sounds. I hope you like it. Worked in zenbeats DAW, by Roland.
Description : BIG UPDATE 26/02/2014 - So, this was an 18 min track that I have now successfully split in two. 2nd half I uploaded a few weeks ago (Things That Should Always Be, with the bouncy 2 min reggae intro). This is the first half, which has a new mix, a mega chill, meditative ending and a little jazz thrown in for good measure. Takes a few minutes for beat to really kick in. Constantly evolving electric guitar, bass guitar, acoustic drums and lead banjo driven by fat, busy 80BPM grooves with a bit of a reggae and shuffle feel. Also: synth choir voices, dulcimer, violin, cello, shimmering pads. Builds up gradually to nice and rocking and then gets taken back down for the big comedown chill. I really don't know what sort of genre this is except 'far out'. I think it sounds more like a live band than one guy playing instruments and manipulating a DAW. Not my best track but a bit of blissful, sunny island fun. Real positive vibe here so I hope you give it a chance to unfold and unfurl. Sit back, clear your schedule and immerse yourself in these trippy sonic experiments cooked up deep in my off-planet underground laboratory. I have to send the MP3 to Earth via space courier (not cheap).
Description : This track was like the inhale after an exhale of aggressive industrial-electro-sludge tracks that I had put out that summer and fall. This was the more reserved, and introspective winter track. It's nothing spectacular, but I still really enjoy it. I hope you do too. Take care. V.
Description : when i was a kid you could go down and buy acid drops at the dairy - sour boiled sweets....vox, guitars and keys by me. Bass a LM loop by megapaul.
