Seeing you return to the site is certainly something I can welcome. The fact you've done something liquid too is certainly also something refreshingly good to hear; and so incredibly chilled out.
The pad work is fantastic, the vocal sample rings something of Boards of Canada. The drumwork is beautifully done. Sounds very unreal tornament/90s video game inspired, which is certainly not a bad thing at all.
A 6 month break certainly hasn't caused you harm my friend. In fact, I would argue the opposite. This is a beautifully composed track, an absolute pleasure to listen to.
Most importantly this track never breaks atmosphere; it has a very nice, very consistant feel, and flows incredibly smoothly.
Beautifully executed Phyrius, welcome back to the site.
Ok, sod sleeping and sod not reviewing, so here I am returning the favour with the review, and I gotta say this is an absolute pleasure to listen to. Love the ambient drone. Nice sounding piano, albeit a bit Japanese in places to some degree. Don't know if that was the intention, but it's what I felt from it. Very nice melody work on it regardless. Nice sounding bass amongst some brilliant sounding pads that follows up. Nice vocal sample, with some cool sounding effects on it :D
Love the percussion. Minimal, but has enough emphasis to last. Indian chant sounds really cool, love the delay on that.
The hats and snare that follow are fantastic. No idea how to get them to sound so punchy without them overpowering the whole track, like you've executed perfectly here.
Very, very good track. Absolutely love it, definatly agree with the sci-fi ish feel, but I see nothing wrong with that.
I'd favourite if I could, but a download will most certainly suffice :P
Thanks mate. You're right, It does sound very japanese and believe it or not that never occured to me until you mentioned it. I grew up in the far east so there's probably a lot of influence from that neck of the woods/jungle imbedded in the back of my mind.
Cheers for the great review and cheers again for listening.
Love the pad on the intro. Electric piano sounds cool. Digging the buildup of bass and high synth. It does sound a little piercing to me in places though, with certain high notes. Vocals sound really nice. Synths all sound brilliant, melodies sound really nice to me. Drums sound like they might need a tiny bit of work, that hi-hat seems a little out of place to me, and overpowers the other sounds a bit. Nontheless, this is a brilliant sounding track, love the buildups and breakdowns placed in this. Effects on the vocals sound really cool, absolutely love those about 2/3 of the way through.
This is cool as heck Simmer. The blend of sounds is absolutely brilliant. Love the background noise. Brilliant performances from everyone, especially love the guitar. Mixed together perfectly as well, nothing being drowned out or pushed too far forwards, which is always a pleasure to hear. Brilliantly done :D
Been far too long since I heard something of yours. It's rare that I use the site nowadays, but I figured I'd take a listen to this.
Absolutely adore the bass, drumwork is fantastic, love the story behind it in the description, kinda reminds me of some of Bonobos work,if it had less swing on it :P
But no, I honestly truly love this track, the massive blend of sound, the atmosphere created..
Yes! Loved this track when it first came out. Absolutely love the blend of Carribean-esque piano with the drumloop and absolutely epic guitar solo. This is a fantastic sounding composition, you should both be extremely proud of this.
A definite download, thanks for re-posting this Allen.
Stephen,Thanks my friend!
Yea,when Nick left he took all his great tracks with him but I did have a little part in the song so I contacted him and was surprised that he is returning.
Nick does deserves all the credit.
Thanks again Stephen,I didn't know if this would ever be heard again and Nick did such a wonderful production...I just didn't want it to go away:)
I definatly like this one, it sounds so cool. Awesome sounding bass and vocals. Saw you post in the forums, will attempt to do a remix of this, will let you know if I do.
nice sounding synthwork too.
Downloaded.
I've missed the DNB that the people on this site produce. This songs put me right in the mood to be back, really liking the pads and sub bass. Really cool sounding build up in the middle as well, and its great how it goes from peacefull to a more destructive feel.
Wow, I like this. Has a nice trippy feel to it. Everything seems to blend. Everything seems to progress the track along. Liking the subtlty of the delayed sounds.
Nice sounding drums at the start, really like the rhodes, nice sounding pad in the background. The wind instrument in the foreground and the guitar both sound really good, and its got an excellent relaxing feeling to it. Kinda reminds me of one of the tracks off wii fit actually, now I think about it.
Thanks for your kind thoughts and words. I was just thinking about how this track came together while I was responding to Toonz' review.....I think every instrument besides the guitar was played on my MM6. TK
I noticed this yesterday but lacked the time to actually listen to it, but because I liked the original, I wanted to see what you'd done with this. The timpanis were definatly what you needed for this one, it just makes this song so much more powerful, the panflute, as mentioned before, is also awesome.
Difference between Constructive criticism and insults: insults do absolutely nothing. You don't need to be an ass whilst reviewing, just give the uploader a hint in the right direction. Here Justing, let me show you how its done:
The pads and drums in the start are pretty good, but the pad is a bit overpowering though. The drums themselves are good, and they work pretty well with the guitar. The drum layering is pretty cool, and has a nice buildup to it. However, the actual part where the melodies come in could usea bit of improving. The first chord is pretty good, but it doesn't really work with the arp melody, although the filtering on the arp does sound pretty cool, it just doesn't fit really. The bass guitar also doesn't fit that well with the arp.
Its a pretty good track, but you need to work on it a bit more, because certain parts feel a bit awkward. What I reccomend is trying to find out which chords work well together.. unfortunatly, I cannot help you there, as I do all my work by ear, and know absolutely no theory.
Don't think I've listened to anything new of yours in a while, so I went around and found this, and I gotta say, its a really nice sounding track. The bass is great, nice sounding vocal sample, some awesome fx in there, and a great bunch of drums too. Really enjoyed listening to this DB, its really chilled out and a nice buildup too.
Wow, what a powerful intro. Really really like that pad. Nice sounding sliding lead noise, with some nice sounding delays, nice sounding drums in the start, a little different from most dnb tracks, which is good. You've done what I can't and actually used an original sounding drumloop, whereas mine always seem to have the typical kick snare (pause) kick snare :P
The bass is fantastic, the whole track is amazingly chilled out, maybe we can collab on that track, maybe make a 3 way collab between RollaG, you and I :D
Haven't listened to much of your stuff in a while, so I figured I'd take a listen to this. Really like the electric piano in the start. Fantastic drum work, really nice sounding bass, the oriental instruments near the end are really cool.
Whenever I listen to your tracks they always have these chilled out, yet simoultaenously uplifting, and the drum production in each one is just epic... I think I've got a long way to go before I start producing percussion with a standard this high.
Really nice sounding track alivid, keep up the excellent work!
I have to agree with Ryan. It clips and distorts a fair bit, and I think all your bass is a bit loud mate. Just lower it down a bit. The actual synthwork sounds good, but its just a bit distorted by the bass.
Nice try, just try not to overpower everything with a rediculously loud bass.
Saw this and thought I'd take a listen. Really nice sound on the intro. Kick and open hat are at just the right volume, really nice blend of synth sounds, nice sounding melody. The pattern on the chord synth kinda reminds me of the bass on Guru Josh- Infinity. The lead synth has a really nice feel to it, and the filtering on the track is really good as well.
Figured I'd take a listen as this song didn't have any reviews. Gotta be honest, that intro is fantastic. The vocals, pad, and bass blend perfectly, the piano chords sound fantastic. Excellent sounding drumloop, really moves the whole track along, has a real professional feel to it, everything just seems to fit perfectly. Really like the grainy vocal sample, and how you mix the samples together. Nice sounding Pendulum-esque arp in there too.
One of the best DNB tracks I've heard in a while. Excellent production quality, a real pleasure to listen to.
Thats a really nice synth line at the start, fits really awesome. Some really nice sounding drums too, that fit quite well with the synth/guitar in the background. The EP is really cool. Really nicely done composition, really like the bass from the kick.
Figured I'd take a listen after seeing your forum post, and I gotta be honest, this is a pretty cool track. The drums have a nice punchy, almost 8bit c64-esque sound, which I think is pretty cool. The pitch shifting at the start is really cool. The growl bass sounds pretty damn awesome.
Love the vocals and fadeout at the start, some really nice slicing in there. Awesome sounding bass. Love the sound of the drums so far. Sounds pretty good for a rough draft. Let me know when the full version gets uploaded!
Thought I'd take a listen to this because I haven't heard anything from you before despite bieng on the site for almost 1 1/2 years :P
Some really nice drum rythms, it never feels uncomfortable at any parts, and the sounds that go with it are pretty awesome too.
Let me know when the collabs uploaded, I think I want to hear it.
Its cool Ste, as I was just telling Elaine on another rev-reply, there's no rush with this stuff. We'll bump into eachother whenever, ya know?
As for the track, been wanting to delve more into D&B/Breaks for a while now. Just kept having other stuff come up & get in the way of my truly delving into it. There's just something mesmerizing about its structure I think. So I've been dying to put my spin on it. Dunno how many people are gonna jump on this, but I'll try to keep you posted. Thanks for stopping by. Later on!
Nice sounding synth patterns and drums. Nice sounding bird samples too. The various breakdowns and changes throughout the track. The different synth sounds blend perfectly with each other and fit perfectly with the drums, sounds like you put a lot of effort into writing this one.

I made my own drum loops for this project... I don't really like using pre-made loops, I feel like I'm cheating otherwise lol
But yeah if Rollagee's up for it I'm in, like they say, 2 heads are better than 1,... and 3 heads are better than 2 :p
