Very cool style here! Not the usual that I come across on looperman. Has a nice sheen to the mix which just feels good. Nicely done! I think the only thing I would change (though I know this song is getting old now) is the atmosphere at the beginning, it ends very suddenly and is very static when it is there... to the point where I started to thing it was just really loud hiss from a recorded track or something. Once it was gone it was fine though, so fading it or something might help. Any way, very cool and creative track you made here!
Enjoyable preview for your current work! The scratch elements were interesting... people underestimate the power of that little plugin. I enjoyed the rhythms so far as well. Definitely minimal at the moment, but you've got a good start! Keep at it!
thanks Pat. yea - we are very much in progress here. but stay tuned. I don't think I have scratched the surface with that scratch plug-in! the secret seems to be a greater variety of mouse motions. anyway - more to come on this one. having fun. happy holidays!
Hey, really creative jammin tune here! I like the autheniticity of the performances within. Was looking on your page for something newer, but I'm assuming you are deep in your bass build at the moment... I know how that goes. Glad I'm hearing this one though, as it's quite fun yet a bit sad sounding... admittedly sounding a bit vintage at this point too...heh. You are a very good performer and composer! Respect my friend!
Very groovy style here, and very proficient performances by everyone involved! Has a classic feel to the mix, with the cleanliness which is associated with modern recording. I like most jazz, but haven't heard a song quite like this before. Definitely one of the finer tracks here on looperman! Fave!
Pretty cool unique style on this one! I would like it more, except that it suggests clowns to me... not good!!! Anyway, I like the sounds that were used in the track. Pretty cool rhythm as well, though I don't know if I'd classify it as a waltz as it does seem to be 4/4 time. Doesn't matter though, it's a fun track to hear! Nice one!
It's a pretty cool style you've done here! I like the melody and bass line a lot. I agree with Extraball that that main synth clashes with the vocals at points, but it could be mostly that it's very loud compared to other elements. Not the usual hardstyle I'm used to, but I enjoyed listening!
yea, your right of course. I never could quite get a handle on proper EQing for hardstyle kicks, leads and vocals. really an unacceptable final product tbh.
Well, I guess I'm enjoying this, but I've got to say that the late nineties were my least favorite time EVER for electronic music. So listening to this style I have to wonder about it's popularity. It must be partly a UK thing I'm guessing. In that era I was listening to jazz records and folk cassettes in dark studio apartments. My impression of that time in music is this - a bunch of people who forgot how to use real synthesizers, and hadn't learned how to use computers yet. Not meaning to be insulting at all of course, I'm just going over things in my head trying to figure out what happened back then. Thinking back, I can't think of much for decent electronic music between 96 and 2000... thinking of "The Process" and "The Fragile". You shouldn't take me too seriously, as I've never set foot in a club with a DJ in my life.
Yeah I used to wonder why so many of my friends all wanted to listen to old school stuff when there was so much better new stuff about but after a while (and being dragged out to a few nights) it kind of grew on me so I thought i'd try and recapture that early ninetys sound. I think personally that there was a lot of great stuff out there at that time such as leftfield, aphex twin, orbital, the prodigy, the chemical brothers and so on. The 90's was a really good time in my life so it's nice to revisit those old sounds as it brings back fond memories for me.
Anyway, cheers for dropping by as always man. Your thoughts are appreciated.

Uhm, you are obviously confusing the process of mixing with the process of mastering. I have my speakers turn down to almost nothing and this is still pretty much too loud. Volume adjustments are part of mixing, mixing should be done first. Mastering a recording like this would only make everything worse. I was going to stop listening, but realized I had made it to the end. Please mix your channels lower, much lower... then maybe you can get a good master.
The whole point of this track is to show new producers what a "rough draft" of a song sounds like. When I first started out I was really discouraged when I compared the quality of my music to say the EDM you would find on the radio. This was solely just to show people in that position that even experienced people's songs sound terrible until they go in and fine tune everything during mixing and then send it off to get mastered. Hope you enjoy the mixed and mastered version coming out soon with a download on my sound cloud!
Very enjoyable tune here! Like TheHumps, some of this reminded me of Depeche Mode, which is cool as they are one of my faves. Could definitely shine brighter with some adjustments in the mix, but it sounds very cool as is. I'm thinking that some more atmosphere could really spice up the track, like either some ambient sounds in the background or some effects added like reverb or delays. All in all I liked the song a lot!
This is a cool idea and an interesting style! I too am in the process of merging string elements with electronic styles, so it's nice to hear this. I did a quick download to verify if my suspicions were valid, and they were... almost the whole song is clipping pretty severely. I could hear a lot of crackling, which means you're passing 0 dB in your master and/or mp3 encoding. It seems mastered a bit too loud aside from that, and possibly the mix was pretty loud before that. You should check that you are not overdriving the mastering plugins you are using, and that the last plugin in the mastering chain is not outputting anything past 0 dB. You may want to top out even lower than that when mastering for mp3, as those often clip more than a wav encoded with the same mastering settings. The composition was pretty cool though. Just wanted to help you have a cleaner more dynamic end product. Good work!
Thanks! Currently I was working on the melody and just getting things to work. I'm working on the equalizer and masters now to try to get things more in-sync. Joyce also recommended to me some effects which I will be adding. Thanks for the help!
Well, this is pretty cool effort of a track made from only vocal parts, and I applaud you for that! I too feel that Farisha goes a bit far with the autotune effect, and would like to hear her do more without it. Hard to say if fusion is the best description of this, as I couldn't place what it is fusing, seems more like an ambient or chill out sort of piece. It was musically pleasing though. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for you comments - I originally had it as Pop and that didn't seem right- oh well - hard to classify. Fusion would be Indian and Choral vocals although that is a stretch. Thanks for listening.

Hey buddy, this is really innovative! Love the feel and sound of the mix, it's obvious that you spent a lot of time on it, and tried many things before settling on this version. Sax is not my favorite instrument by any means, but it fits right in with this style. Very pleasing listen in every way!
Hi Spiv, nice to know you liked it in spite of non-favourite
instrumentation...yeah, me and Ed were quite mixy this time before we decided to put this out...thanks alot for your kind and positive feedback!:)
Very interesting and stylish fusion here! Haven't heard from Slap or Zapp for quite a while, so this is a nice change here on the loop! I can always get into your bass style, and I must say that it's my favorite part of the track. I guess the crunchy guitar part around the 4 minute mark is pretty cool, but I feel that it's a bit on the obtrusive side in a mix like this. I got the feeling that there were two guitar tracks going on at the same time which had virtually the same tone to them, maybe that led to me feeling it was on the loud side. The cleaner guitar chords after that were quite nice though. I enjoyed listening to the whole piece, and you all did a great job!
Hey Pat..first off I really do owe you an apology,I've been very slack lately and haven't been listening to much music, which more importantly means your great music!..I shall be rectifying this situation post haste!(well in the next couple of days) :).........I did share a few of your insights concerning this piece,I think it's because both Detlef and I were coming off a little hiatus from music,so it ended up a wham bam thank you mam affair,lol... a smorgasbord comes to mind or an all you can eat steak plaza! haha..thanks for your concise valued opinion mate! cheers Dave :)
This song has a good feel to it, lots of momentum and dynamics! ShemZee has an excellent voice, and it fits right in with this style. Pretty well balanced mix, with a good stereo field. Did you play these guitars? If so, nicely done! I was going to give a suggestion on how to bring focus to the vocals as ShemZee mentioned, but I checked out the pella and it made it more difficult. I was thinking you could make the reverb a bit less wet, but it's possible that the reverb is all in the original vocals. If you did add any, you may want to reconsider, as this may bring out the vocals without adjusting volume much. Great song though! Fave!
Thanks for the kind words! I did play the guitars. I think the vocals probably need to be a bit louder, I didn't alter them at all from the original track. I'll work on an alternate mix.
Realized I hadn't heard any of your stuff for a while, so I took a visit. This is a really cool style of hardcore! Really big sound which is just pouring out of my speakers! I do love hardcore, and I don't usually hear one this potent at 167 BPM. Unusual sounds you've used, but they all compliment eachother. Dig it man! Fave!
Really groovy fusion style on this one! I'm loving the mix throughout as well! These mini mixes that some people do around here are always fun to listen to. Really strange ambient around the 6 minute mark, I like it! You're breaking into some new territories on these, and I appreciate that! Keep doing it! Fave!
I just re-uploaded it a while ago after adjusting volume - it's louder now.
Thanks a lot for nice words - I started with recording some strange sounds using microphone on my laptop on this ambient track - the last one is based on the sample that was processed usind sound stretch software. On both 'fusion' tracks I made the keyboards myself - first one incorporates also some loops from this site.
Glad you liked this compilation. Thanks again! Alex
Hey, I like this a lot! I totally get where you are coming from, as this brings back memories of my audio hallucinations when working in an optical lab a while back. I do love industrial techno, and that is totally the style I would describe this as. Very interesting sound design in here, and the arrangement is cool too! Nicely done. Fav'd!
Hey, this isn't bad for a song made with a single instrument. I guess I was a little disappointed when I clicked on an "acoustic" labelled track and found that it was a VST. That's just me though. It was, however, pleasing to listen to.
Truly sorry for that, my friend. I couldn't find any other appropriate genre listing. I'm glad you were pleased to hear this, but I'll look for another genre listing. Perhaps chill-out. Nevertheless, I appreciate the comment, and sorry for the disappointment. Take care.
Hey, that was a pretty enjoyable listen! I thought that the balance of bass to high frequencies was very nicely done. The timing seemed nice as well. The reverb and delay things were already mentioned, so I won't bother, especially since reggae and dub and stuff commonly use a lot of those effects. I guess my main problem with the mix is that it's very "static", if you know what I mean. Some automation of different things could add a lot of interest and character to the song. I really like what you did with the pella, and your bass and guitar work was really fun to hear! Fave!
Thank you very much Spivkurl! You are right, i have to put more time in the mix and make it feel more dynamic but its not so easy for me hehe i have a lot to learn about mixing and mastering but im already trying . Thanks for the advice and for the fave!
Hey, this is a pretty sweet one, and probably one of my favorites from you. I was enjoying the guitar and bass grooves very much. Also I like the title. Some interesting drum styles in this one as well, and I got into the high hat work in parts. I guess I expected more potent or prominent 303 lines in this, maybe they were just heavily processed. I have quite a few rebirth loops that I made around this time as well, and sometimes it's fun to dig them out... it had a signature sound, though mostly of late I enjoy making acid sort of sounds with other synths or samples for a bit of a challenge. I think I like the first half of this track the most, as towards the later sections it seemed like all of the tracks got louder and fought for space in the mix... it seemed a bit tiring on the ears in the last couple of minutes. One thing I like about your tracks is reading other peoples' comments, as I think your songs tend to expose a listeners deepest preferences when it comes to music. Reading through that sort of thing whilst listening to one of your epics is quite fun. You did great work on this one! Fav'd!
I recommended it to you cos I suspected you’d like it. It’s also a particular favourite of a friend who listens to a lot of extreme metal but he liked the end heavier section much more than you did. He thought that was one of my finest ever live band-sounding sections. I think I have many others just as good but I can’t say if he’s heard all of them (probably not).
I’ve listened back hard and still think you can hear each instrument pretty well in those heavy bits. It is supposed to loud and a bit dirty. I will check back but maybe the problem is the string pad in there that is very bassy (but also doing a good supporting role).
“Some interesting drum styles in this one”
I was slightly surprised at how good the heavy rock kits I used a lot of the time didn’t sound that heavy as the first half is pretty chilled out but driven by those kits. There’s a certain amount of extra drums and percussion eg a timbale sound as well as the pitch swept hi hat part you get right as the drums first enter.
“I expected more potent or prominent 303 lines in this”
Sorry I couldn’t manage that. What’s there is all I decided to go with, especially as I had a load of other synth, guitar and bass parts to work with. Hard to say if it needs more 303. If you’re well into acid, no doubt that’s just what it needs. Metallers will probably want more heavy stuff introduced earlier.
“I was enjoying the guitar and bass grooves very much”
Most of those parts were played a long time ago, quite a few back in 2002. I only resurrected the project this year.
“I think your songs tend to expose a listeners deepest preferences when it comes to music”
Yes – there’s so much going on in my tracks that people will pick out what appeals most to them, which is something I get slightly familiar with after a while. I’m always happy to hear what really stood out to people. It’s sort of my job to make everything and nothing stand out ie all parts to be equally as good as each other, hard as that is to achieve.
Glad you enjoy reading the comments. I write far more than most people but it is my music so not surprising I have more to say about it than most people.
Thanks again.
A big fat funk epic called Bright Side of The Sun is coming soon.
Very enjoyable track to listen to! I guess my old fashioned ideals place this under an electronic or psy trance label more than techno, but I suppose I'm judgemental (as well as mental). I liked the arpeggios very much, as well as your use of my snare loop. I think the biggest thing missing is the low frequencies. Had my sub most of the way cranked and the volume up a good amount, and there really was no low end. Can't quite say what would be causing the problem, but especially for a tech track it would help to fix it. Maybe there wasn't much of a bass line to begin with I guess, so I won't put the blame on you... heh. I liked the flow of the song very much though! Keep at it!
hey,
yeah the bass line was lost when processing and mixing and so on... anyway you can hear it better: https://soundcloud.com/promenade2239/surreal-ambiences-tt-edit but not sure if it is good enough on your listening system - this is earlier version of the track...
Again my main focus is on the music.
Probably my monitors aren't big or good enough to generate the actual low frequencies but still my listening experience is amazing. AMAZING.
Again hard to explain cause Im not an en native speaker.

Well, I see you haven't uploaded anything for quite a while, but I thought I'd check something out anyway. My first reaction to this song was that it was very loud, then I thought "wow that sounds like it's clipping really bad", so I downloaded the mp3, and sure enough in the wave editor there was only about 30 seconds of the song that wasn't clipping. You must adjust your mixing and mastering work to get a good sounding finished product. You can basically hear all the lost data from peaking past 0 dB throughout. turn all your channels down and make sure you aren't overloading the inputs of any mastering plugins you are using. Just trying to help.
Firstly, can I apologise for my late response to your message. It appears that I have not read this email at all. Can I just say I am a fan of your work and have used many of your samples in my work, so it is great to have someone like yourself actually listen and give feedback on my work.
Secondly, many thanks for the sound advise. As with many others who have commented, you rightly put it, I need to master the sounding. I have got a friend who usually has a good idea with sound properties on software and tends to make modifications where he can, whereas,I just do it for the fun and relaxation and throw things in and hope for the best.
I will take on board your suggestions and hope they have improved for the next project.
Very cool and complex piece here! My favorite part has to be the avant garde styling of the piano in the intro, amazing use of intervals and the like to evoke a feeling! Very interesting synth sounds and samples you've used in here as well. Definitely one of the coolest chill out songs I've heard! Deep and thoughtful. Very good stereo field and frequency range throughout. Thank you for sharing this beauty! Fave and DL!
Thanks Spiv, No samples, just sequences and synths. I am happy you have liked this and grateful you acknowledge it. Avant Garde is in both of our souls sometimes and we both need to get it out from time to time.
Always appreciate your words.
Steve
Pretty sweet track here! I like the dirtiness of it! Definitely not what I'm used to hearing when clicking on a hardcore track, but there's nothing wrong with that. Cool sounding break in the middle! That little stereo arpeggio reminds me of bugs crawling all over me, I guess that's okay though... maybe that's the adult content. I noticed that you have a very old track featured, you might benefit from featuring something newer. Who knows... Keep doing your thing!
This is cool! I love the subtle guitar sounding accents in there! Some of those synths are a bit on the tired side for me, but they do sound nice and professional. This definitely has many elements which I've come to know of your signature style, and I look forward to hearing the finished product. Nice one!
