This is quite an expertly created song! It really reminds me of some Kate Bush stuff, and would be excellent with a nice vocal. Interesting selection of sounds you've included. Seems to tell a story to me. Really good work in all respects! Fav'd!
Jammin tune you've created here! I like the complexity of the synth work, that generally makes dubstep more listenable for me. It fits the title nicely as well. Nice arpeggio work for sure! Mix and mastery sound pretty sweet on this system. Great work!
Very interesting agressive style you've created here, which fits the samples well. Like FR, I would've liked to here a longer version, especially with some twists and turns, but I see why you left it this way... seems more like a cinematic interlude sort of piece rather than, say, a pop song. I still may get in on this LZA thing, but I have to be prepared, as it will involve a couple photo shoots and some live recording... and has already given me the pressure I needed to rearrange the studio. You do good stuff! Fave!
Very enjoyable listen! I like that amplitude modulated voice in the middle, it sounds awesome! Not the usual glitch I hear for sure, so that's a good thing, much of it is so generic. A lot of variety of sounds in here which keeps the listener interested. Nicely done!
Pretty intense stuff here, I dig it! You definitely know your chops! I've been working on learning tape looping lately, and this gives me flashback to the first one I got looping. It's fun to give new life to an old sound. Very well mixed as usual! Great work!
Thank you so much. Choping is exciting and challenging at the same time,am sure you will succeed at it.Thanks for your feedback again.Always great to hear from you.
Oh man, where have I been, I didn't even realize this was finished! That darn cat! (Literally!) I love what you've done to take this idea too a complete (and completely vital) state! The ending was just crazy in a good way. I know it was a challenge to use those loops I sent, but you've done superbly in trying to understand my way of thinking. Burton has a great mind for cinematic arrangement and atmosphere, and this would be missing something without his work. Very happy to be a part of this, so thank you! Fav'd!
I'm glad you had a chance to listen to the final! it took a minute to bring this one around both conceptually and with the mix. but I think it landed in a decent place and I'm happy. thanks again very much.
Vary calm energy to this piece, and I'm really enjoying listening! Love your bass line, it's nice and powerful. A very good thing to hear after going out in the world and dealing with all the frustration at how people have become, so thank you for that. I think it's great! Fave!
Pretty cool effort here! It's style is definitely not my usual listening preference, but I can here the creativity and focus within. I like the sound quality and frequency range very much. I guess, like StaticNomad, I enjoy more variation in songs I listen to... though I would admit to being into a different kind of variation from SN. Towards the end it got more exciting for me, so that's a good thing. I like to hear you trying some different things, and I will definitely keep listening!
Thx for the listen Pat. You already know how much I respect your opinion so I wont repeat it. In this track, I stayed true to my intent which was to make the original loop carry the track. I had a clear idea what I wanted to do and I'm happy with it. Glad you noticed the sound and frequency range. I tried a few different things in the mixdown and mastering and I'm happy with that too. Always room for improvement though :)Cheers!
Dark vibes to this track! It's pretty well done so far! You said that you had to lower the quality of the song to upload here, are you just saying that it's not wav quality? You should be able to upload a pretty high quality mp3 for a song of this length with the 10 Mb limit. To me, it sounds like the vocals were added on top of an already mixed mp3 instrumental, which will lower the quality of the instrumental each time it is turned into a new mp3. It may pay of to try to get a wav version of the instrumental for your final mix with that third verse. Any way, it's pretty cool! Keep at it!
Thanks! The original is an MP3 from a contest so the quality will be lower no matter what for sure. But the MP3 file I have was still over 10MB so I had to drop it a bit.
Pretty cool blend of sounds in this track! It has a shuffle sort of feel to the timing, which makes me wonder how intentional this was... but it sound cool, so who am I to question you. The lead melody sounds nice, and is played with a good sound. My main concern about this, is that it seems like the gain staging and output level at rendering is off. There is much distortion, especially when there is more going on, like the heavy kick beat. My first clue was seeing the waveform, which looks very flattened. My guess is that if you put it in a wave editor, it would show you several sections which are clipping. You could have all the levels in your mix very high, or you could be overloading the effects on the channels, or in mastering each stage of plugin could be adding distortion from overloads on the input, or the last stage in mastering is putting out a level that peaks past 0 dB, or a combination of these. It may pay off to check these different things. Keep in mind that I am only trying to help, not trying to insult your artistry, because I do very much admire your style. It was a fun listen!
Very impressive effort you've made here! To me, this has a very minimal techno vibe to it. With just some subtle changes throughout, it would sound more finished and enticing, but I love it as is. The stereo toms are quite impressive, and I can hear why they were inspiring to you. I also like renewing quite old songs as something new and different, so I see where you are coming from. Very hypnotic and enjoyable electronic song, and your voice is quite good! Keep at it! Fave!
This is (just) a real raw file. Often i like this raw things more then the finished work. Thats one of the reason why i need so long to do things new :)
This toms are very cool and in my ears they cryed for some vocals. So i done it.
Nice to hear that you enjoyed the listen and give the track a fav.
Right from the start, this has a sweet live improv sort of feel to it! Loving the percussion so much! Classic sounds you've incorporated in this number. ferryterry has contributed some awesome parts to the jam! Digging the outro, very stylish. Great work! Fave!
thanks a lot for nice words! Glad you enjoyed the percussion work - I tried to create some colours as well just like you can find it in the jazz-drumming. thanks again for your time and listening to my music! Alex
Very cool minimal but effective composition! Reminded me a bit of the Repo soundtrack for some reason, I guess I just watch it too much. Your use of the voice samples was good timing as well. Going to have to get involved in this thread of tracks! Great one!
Thx Pat. Minimal was definitely the plan. Zombies endlessly marching forward and devouring and the chaos it inflicts was the idea. The voice sample was a great find. I give him full credit and hope he gets the chance to hear this track.
And now that you said you are getting involved I'm holding you to it! We will be expecting an epic Spivkurl contribution to the LZA in the near future....unless the zombies find you and your studio first that is :(
Sounds very cool so far! I like the bright sound you got on the piano part. Nice calm tone to the bass as well. Cool balance of frequencies in the master! I still find that some of the electric guitars are masking eachother, but they work well together. Definitely a nice stereo field here. Cool how everything gets sparse near the end. Great work!
thanks Spivkurl that piano yea I noticed on the spectrum it didn't have any top end at all and I decided it was sounding a bit dull and I wanted it to sound brighter so I put a high shelf filter on it. I monofiltered the bass below 80hz to tighten up the subs. But yea the guitars were the hardest thing to mix they were all over the place bits out of tune and all kinda shit I decided that 2 of the guitar parts had to be more dominant thats what I went for. Cheers
Love the acid tech vibes early on in this mix! Very pumpin beat/groove you set up! Some unusual sounds included here too. I have nothing against using loops to make something fun to listen to, and you've done that here! Sweet voice samples there, and now it's getting kind hardcore... ah hoover. sweet. This mix seems to have a consistency throughout in subtle ways. Man, you're giving me the mixing bug now. Almost verging on acid trance at this point! Nice build near the end, sounds cool on this end. Jammin mix friend. Keep at it! Fav'd!
This is definitely one of my favorites from the competition. Very nice frequency balance, and the whole mix sounds very open. Interesting take on the guitar which seems a bit different from the other mixes I've heard. Cool throbbing feel to the low end, I liked it. Very nice work on this!
Amazing trance work here my friend! Super potent, and it sounds oh so good loud! The vocal parts really are awesome, you did an excellent job. Definitely one of the best trance tracks I've heard. Love the way the whole mix pulsates, very creative. Oh bummer, no download... I'll just have to fave it and keep coming back to listen! Nice one!
Definitely dig this one! Has a nice flow and arrangement to it. The mixed sounds good as well, and I could hear everything clearly. The main thing I hear which could enhance the vibe of this track is to replace the organ with a real vintage organ, preferably recorded live. I understand that's not within reach for a lot of people though. Sounds really cool as is!
Thank you Spivkurl. I see what you mean about the live organ- but I'm sure you can understand why this is not available to me! Thank you anyways for your feedback, it always helps!!!
Very very cool mix you've done here! I am loving the tone and detail of the bass in this, sounds great! Nice stereo field! Sounds like you EQ'd some things in a similar way to me, but that bass is just so cool! You've done really well!
Listening to this, as well as the clips for the project we're working on, I find myself getting accustomed to your composition style. It's very comforting! What I hear/feel is that pitch is being used to form the dynamics, rather than the more common amplitude route. Makes me wonder if this method would leave more up to the listener as far as physiological response etc... everyone hears and reacts to pitch a bit differently I think. Hope I'm making sense. Any way, I really enjoyed listening! Have made some more progress on the art track this morning. I will be in touch!
Pat, it is an interesting observation. i don't really understand what amplitude is so i can't say. honestly - i feel there are very basic pieces of this electronic composition process that I am clueless about. nevertheless - as i think you are saying - i have come up with a way to achieve some expression and presence in the music. if you are liking it, man, i am happy! tomorrow is a cat day. today was finishing this thing (which of course they are never finished). best regards - Dan
Deeply soulful and true to life! As I see it you're still my fave of the hip hop artists that I've heard, which admittedly isn't as much as many people, but I do know good music when I hear it. You've hot the swing thing down. Dig it! Fav'd!
Very fun track to listen to! Shammi's vocals are fun to work with, and you've totally done them justice with this mix! Nice and bouncy too! The library will never know what hit 'em with my buds smelling like this skunky sweet track! Keep doing it man! Fave!
Hey, pretty sweet track here! I'm getting out of my dubstep phase, but I'm glad I clicked play all the same. You had some interesting stereo effects going on. That ending was very cool for sure! Nicely done!
Very interesting style! A nice minimal group effort! Loving the gentle percussive work. The vocals definitely are important to the overall feel of the song. E-piano is used in an original way as well, has an exceptional tone regarding frequency range. Cool stereo field too! Fine work!
hi, many thanks for your nice comments on this music. Yes, somehow I tried to create a recording that suggest that it could be just improvised piece by a band although the song evolved and I added many elements changing completely the colour of it in two days... Glad you liked the recording also. Im not using too much effects on the mix to get some realistic sound...
Thanks again and all the best to you,
Alex
Hey. very groovy track you've made here! Love the jammin sampling! Cool sounding instruments you chose. I'd have to agree with StaticNomad about the vocals, I guess they just sound a bit too wet in the reverb zone, and maybe to heavy on the high frequencies. The rest of the mix sounds really nice to me though! You've done a nice combination of styles in here, and it stays interesting. Well done!
