Hey, it's cool to hear some new hardcore! I'm trying to be cautious in my comment, as I've recently come to the conclusion that my computer speakers don't translate low frequencies well when plugging in my headphones. So, with that said, people mentioned the lack of high frequencies, and to me this has primarily high frequencies. I don't really hear any thing in the really low range. Even with this listening setup, I can usually hear the bass line, but I guess it seems to be not there? Unless it's the very high-mid frequency of beat sound? I like the general arrangement, and the vocal samples are cool as well. I might try to listen later with the sub on so I can verify what I'm talking about here. I dig the hardcore vibes though. I should probably mention that this mp3 is clipping through nearly the whole track, so you may want to check out the mixing and mastering gain staging for a better result. Fun to hear!
Thanks for the coment ,
And i try to fix the problems with the frequencies ,
But can't do any beter now ....
I uploaded the remastered track and i hope it is better now..
I always learn at every track i make ..
and this is a point of attention ...
im glad you like the arrangement because that is the most important , lol ..
Hey, very cool and enjoyable ambient here, and I think it works with the photo. I don't know if I'm looking at the wrong photo or what, but it just looks like a normal cloud to me... hmmm. Really had a good time listening friend!
U r right. I actually spoke with the photographer and she confirmed that it was a cloud. I thought one of the streaks was from a plane.. I actually have very little experience mixing these old synth pads so it has been interesting. The profile you set up over on my site looks cool. Thanks for taking care of it. Regards, Dan.
Very cool flowing track you've done here! Those glitches really do pop out of the mix like they are some kind of insect buzzing around your face and ears. I like that. Some of the sounds you've used here are very unusual, and that's generally a good thing too. You've definitely developed your style considerably recently, you should be proud! Seems like I missed out on the free EP download, oh well. Very enjoyable listen!
Hi Patrick
I have a soft spot for glitches and it was only natural to start incorporating such sounds on my very own productions.
Feeling that little by little i am doing my own thing and very satisfied with the results.
As for the free EP it has not yet be released but hopefully soon.
Hey, this is quite spectacular! I am far from my days listening to lots of ambient and "new age" music, but I can still appreciate something as fine sounding as this - especially when created by two awesome musicians such as you and Tumbleweed. Very interesting percussion textures when the rhythm gets going... I like the sort of pumping compressed feel of them. Smooth and flowing composition you two have created here, and I'm happy that I listened. Hope that you are well!
Thanks alot, my friend...I can only appreciate again and again
when you have to say so many nice things about the song within the genre that you usually don't listen any more...
This is the kind of ultra creative chopping and mixing that I visit your page to hear! Love the natural feel of your digital manipulations. The guitar sample in there really adds a lot. Cool synth percussion which travels all over the stereo field as well. I guess that the only part I didn't get into is that lead synth which sounds kind of saw wave... it just seemed out of place, maybe it's just timing even that I'm hearing? All other parts are definitely cool! Keep doing it!
Thank you so much for the feedback, always a pleasure to hear from you.I definitely understand what you saying,i kinda struggled with that synth in a way,i can easily remove it from there. Thanks again.
This may just be one of my favorites of your tracks! Everything is very nicely balanced and clear. The vocals are prominent and powerful. The drums have a nice relaxed vibe about them which really compliments the vocal parts, and also seems to have help you compose some very nice instrumental parts. Smooth and fresh, dig it! Fave!
thank you again for an interesting reply and such a nice comment on this one. I appreciate that.
This song is a very original combination of sounds from different looperman members: I started with the synth pad by devodale which was played on wavestation synth. Then I kept adding more stuff (as always) that I downloaded earlier to came up with some corresponding sounds/textures. I tapped these drums from the keyboard (funk drum kit from ezdrummer plugin). The rhodes piano improv line is mine too.
I do not have any recipe for making a good song. Each one is different. Truly I did not expect it will sound like this at the end!
An important thing, I was listening a lot to the classical and jazz acoustic recordings of good quality earlier so that affects my current work. And basically this is my favourite 'area' which in my opinion brings great listening experiences. I can't say this on the loud electronic sequenced music but I might be wrong of course. Just a personal preference. I tried myself in producing a bit of electronic music on this site as well.
I think if I am just able to merge together the sounds that will share the same harmonics then it is always a great start.
I do not know what to say more about all this. I did not develop a theory, it is more an 'creative' practical approach of the moment.
I am happy you liked this track which is also a 'collective effort'. Thanks for your interest in my music. Best, Alex
Hey buddy! This is a very pleasing track! Really cool arpeggios used in here, and the stereo field is quite nice. Can't really tell that it's loop based, I wouldn't have known if you didn't mention it. Sounds a bit like some older styles of trance, and a touch of 80's vibe. I like the mixing style on this, it's powerful but still gentle. You've done well! Fave!
Thanks Spiv. It's been a while and sorry for the late response. I've had puter probs. Got em fixed now and am back up and running.
I love stitching loops like this. It's kind of a theraputic hobby so to speak. I Just love doing this.
Pretty cool mix you made here! I like the chopped vibe you managed to induce. I guess funk is not amongst my favorite genres, and Daft Punk is definitely not in my top 100 (heh), but I can totally hear your creativity and ingenuity in this mix. I will admit to not listening as closely as I should have, but I enjoyed it as music for thought. Keep at it!
It's a pretty cool beat for sure. You just need to watch your mixing and mastering levels, as there is some really sever clipping in this mp3. Easy to hear in headphones, there is heavy crunching and cracking in both ears. Just want to help. I like those synth hits though. Keep working on it!
Thanks for the feedback! Gonna admit I'm a rookie so I was playing around with the controls trying to figure out how to get rid of it but got fed up of working on it, but I'll give it a go again!
Pretty fun track you've put together here! I'm liking the drum and bass groove very much. The other instruments you've added have a nice feel to them as well, they kind of make for an unusual fusion of styles. I won't beat the bass thing on the head anymore, I'm sure you've heard enough...heh. Keep making cool music like this!
Hey, friend, I'm digging this track thoroughly! I find myself intrigued by the mechanical sampling you've done here. Can't say I've heard much of that going on in tracks, especially in recent years. Sounds pretty cool to me. Do you care to explain how you are recording these objects you put together? I'm listening in headphones, so keep that in mind... It seems like the bass is a bit in the background in the heavier parts of the tracks, though maybe it's totally intentional. I liked the vocal bits very much, and I'm thinking they could be a bit more prominent as well. Overall I really enjoyed the song, in fact it's probably one of my faves as far as house tunes go. You have your own style, and I respect that!
Thanks. To be honest I need better recording equipment. I have a little AKG condenser mic and I just put it in an acoustic-treated box with whatever i'm recording. The quality isn't great but I just EQ as much or as little as I feel is necessary. Also, everything I do IS intentional but that doesn't necessarily mean I made the right decision. I have two bass lines running so I duplicated one and panned the duplicates slightly left and right to widen it and keep it away from the other bass line (which made it feel further away). I personally don't mind it but if it sounds weird i'll see if I can work out something else.
Anyway thanks again for your comment and input on the forum and i'm glad you enjoyed the song! :)
This is really very beautiful my friend! I love both the guitar and the voice... not to mention those excellent lyrics (thank you for the translation). I spent some time trying to learn Romanian quite some time ago, but quit when Love and I realized we wouldn't be moving there any time soon. It's a very beautiful language though. Your guitar playing is an inspiration to me. Peaceful lovely song! Fav'd!
This is a very enjoyable couple of track! Very soothing and dreamy. Overall I thought that the quality of the mix was really nice! I only noticed that there was a little crackling in the right side near the beginning of the first track, which could be clipping, but maybe it comes from the melotron VST? Not a big deal. And then in the second track, the bass seemed very heavy to the left, which of course could be fully intentional. Just thought I'd bring it up because I just was talking to you about mono tracks. Everything else struck me as very pleasing! Nicely composed and performed! Fave!
Pat: I really appreciate your advice and explanation about use of mono in your response to my comment on the "Proximal Vicinity" track. I'm in the process of trying to figure out how to convert stereo tracks to mono. I'll check out the Logic Pro plugins, but I thought there might be channel strip setting that I could change. Some of my VSTs give me the option of loading a mono version of the instrument, so starting off on the right footing might be the better solution.
Your comments on the Don't Keep Your Love Away track were really interesting to me and I've just spent some time trying to figure out what was going on. I had an adaptive limiter set for a max output of 0db as the last plugin on my mastering output track, so I thought that would avoid clipping distortion unless I had clipping occurring in one of the instrument channels. My master output showed a max level of -2.7 db for the first part of the project so I thought I was OK. Then I inserted a metering plugin and changed its location in the sequence of plugins I was using in the mastering output track to see what each of the various compressors, EQs, etc. I had on the channel was doing to the output signal before hitting the adaptive limiter. I discovered that I had a compressor that was pushing the signal above 0db on the left channel. I also found that I had levels in a couple of the individual instrument tracks exceeding 0db, although it was my understanding that there actually is headroom on those tracks in Logic Pro and slight overages do not cause clipping.
The bass imbalance on the second track is a puzzle to me. I checked level meters for the bass tracks and left and right channels are completely aligned in their movements throughout the track. I need to listen to the track and not watch the meters I think to see if I can figure out what's going on. Anyway, thanks for the advice. It has prompted me to pay more attention to details on my mixes and not to just assume that a limiter at the end of the signal chain will right all wrongs! :)
Went looking through your page for one with fewer comments made already, and came across this one... luckily it wasn't one that I had already faved! I've kind of gotten away from listening to ambient stuff lately, but this one totally crosses genres, which is one of the things I like about your music. Very unusual sounds you've incorporated here, which make me wonder what the hell they are! I like the title as well - makes me think of the feeling I have when walking by the elementary school down the street when everyone is idling in their cars waiting to pick up the kids. Whilst choking, I pick up my pace to escape the monoxide cloud which covers more than a block... then I reach the end and there at the edge of the cloud... a gas station... ha ha. Anyway, it was a a very cool piece!
This is pretty cool so far (I know it's pretty old now of course). Got a cool groove, and a good start to the songwriting. My only real trouble when listening is that the vocals get pretty harsh at a few points when they push the dynamic range. They just seem so loud at those points compared to the music. I guess it's just personal preference though. Hope to hear some new music from you at some point! Nicely done!
Pretty cool groove and keyboard performances here! I do like your style of playing. I'm thinking the only part of the early track that I don't get into is the drums... for the most part they sound really subdued, as if if they are missing a bunch of frequencies. Like they have a filter that removed all the highs or something. Makes that part sound lower quality than it should. Just a thought. The second track in here is quite nice! A bit punchier in the rhythms, and the mixing sounds very cool so far! Keyboard parts are featured as I've come to expect from you, and they sound great! Seems like that one would make for a good breakbeat remix or something, no offense heh. Nice couple tracks though!
hi, thank you so much for a nice comment! Currently I am working exclusively on vst instruments (mostly free plugins played from Casio CDP220r). I am using the other cheap keyboard to get rid of the artificial weighted keys sometimes and just to get the actual idea of how the plugin may react lol). In a sense it's only an 'artificial' music, so I entirely agree that it's 'filtered' and some frequencies are obviously missing!
I will return to the acoustic music soon anyway, but the artificial world is really fascinating so far.
Thanks again for some nice words and interesting thoughts,
the groove on the first track is from PJB. Alex
Oh man, this is quite deep! It's swimming around my head as if it were reality contained in only sound. Love the stereo image you've created here! I don't watch much for disaster movies, but it's so close to every day reality that I can understand. I've been in earthquakes, as well as near a volcanic eruption, so I suppose that makes me qualifies to ignore the disaster flicks a bit. Fine quality creation you've made here, it's very powerful! Fav'd!
Thanks Spiv and sorry for not replying until now. It gets really crazy here at the shelter sometimes and I wear multiple hats here and sometimes don't know which one to wear. LOL
Very uplifting piece you two have worked together on here! Songs like this give me reasons to keep involved here at looperman, oh and to have caffienated vodka drinks at 8 AM. I can almost see you dancing about your studio when hearing this, and that pleases me! It's nice to hear songs made by poeple who create music for the love of it. Haven't heard much from devodale lately either, but he's obviously still got it! Great work my friend! Fave!
Thanks Spiv. I kinda miss devo..in a manly way. He is so good with his piano.
You got camera's in my room...LOL..I couldn't help but get and wiggle a bit to this as I worked on it. Very energetic and uplifting.
My mom heard it before anyone else and told me I needed to post this one. I asked why. She said it made her get up and boogie..LOL..I'm babbling..thanks Spiv..
This is definitely in your style, but you have incorporated other's fine audio work, and thus opened up to new ideas here. I'm really enjoying this one! Lots of subtle elements for such a minimal composition. Sounds really nice in my headphones this morning! I'm making it a point not to listen to the loops used, just the final work, so I can't say what is loops and what is not... but it's all very listenable and relaxing! Fine work! Fave!
thanks a lot for some nice words. I am happy that you simply enjoyed this track and just found it relaxing.
The choice of loops was exactly my taste indeed. I had to use ferryterry's sax solo jazz line and two other fine loops in the 'chillout' style. I needed to move from A minor to F minor so finally the composition has some nice freely played jazz intro and let's say 'main body'. There's really no way to combine those loops together - so I decided to build the entire arrangement according to the traditional harmony and I simply recorded the e piano throughout (there's actually 4 different e-piano parts here).
This piece sounds simple but there's so many layers here and I used even some separate sampled fragments from these loops here and there to create some consistent soundscape.
The ferryterry's jazz line made me think about the chord changes and I had to work in reverse to find some corresponding chords. So basically I started with harmonising the melodies from loops/samples.
Wow, this is really good and amazing! I made use of google translate to catch those lyrics, and I was blown away! Tastes like happy! Definitely my kind of track! Deep and dark with a positive edge. Amazing! Fave!
When you post the loops and i took them, i told you that i would do an awesome track.
Ok, i realy just wrote that without any knowing what will happend but it looks like i done it realy so the way that you get what i sayed you would get.
Realy nice to hear that this track let you go to google and you invest some time for a translation. I hope google did a good job and you realy like the original lyrics and not only a google version :)

Always nice to read a gentle comment like this. Thanks for that and for the fav.
This is nice, it's slow, but still maintains an aggressive edge. Very cool loop sampling work throughout! That lo fi percussion that comes into my right ear after the 2 minute mark sounds awesome, goes right inside! Stylish and classic sounding! Love it! Fave!
I dig this one very much! It has a nice stereo field in my headphones. Very cool minimal industrial with an old school vibe. Interesting break in there with just drone and kick mostly, sounds good! Would be fun to have some doom sort of vocals on here. Nicely done! Fave!
Hey this is cool and unique! I really like the part around 1:50 or so when the pace seems to pick up... the vocal timing seemed weird, but it really worked that way! Way past my dubstep phase it seems, so that part wasn't my favorite... especially since the timing seemed to get weirder at that point. I like your use of the vocals in this though... might I ask if they were mp3 vocals? It sounds like it a bit in spots, but it is hard to tell. If you are using mp3 vocals, then it should be hard to tell, so you've done well in that respect! Definitely enjoyed the first three minutes or so especially. Quite a cool creative track!
Seems like a cool idea for a track so far. I like the bass line quite a bit. I felt like the first 2 and a half minutes were a bit static or repetitive, but after that things were a bit more deep. I think if taken a bit further, the theme will be successful. Nice one.
Very groovy and enjoyable spoken word here! I totally enjoyed listening, and the music seemed to support the words very well. Would love to see you post more stuff here on LM! Excellent track! Fave!
