Cool description mate (though it sux that the guy died). I dunno why, but this makes me think of a setting similar to the one in Monument Valley nat'l park- with the mesas, spiders, and all. Musically, this makes me think of what'd happen if INXS met up with Collective Soul and did a face-off with Steely Dan and Pearl Jam. Very nice jams here mate. Wouldn't change a single thing about it, but if I were to suggest anything it'd be to consider adding some tribal chants/singing (but that's just my craziness chimin in there). Otherwise, this is golden. Will def fave/save. Lates!

Hey Donnie thanks man!....I've only seen pics of Monument Valley (totally unreal looking place!)..the rock climber's mecca!....all our Australian mountainous areas have been pretty well all worn down by time(highest peak is about 5000ft),being a much older landmass than America, their still cool places to look at though...thanks for the listen mate..cheers Dave

This tune sounds so familiar, couldn't tell you why though. Maybe b/c its been floating around on the loop as long as it has (I'm sure this spawned a few mixes or extension collabs). The groove of this takes me back to 80s detective shows (or 70s flicks). And though the primary focus was the bass & horns here I'm actually digging some of the other stuff that went behind this (like the flutes & chimes or SFX). Really adds to the atmos (takes it in a completely different direction from the main IMO). Nicely done mate. Lates!

Hey Donnie..thanks mate!you know it's interesting,I think I spend more time sometimes looking for the right little Fax and syn th transient than I do on the main thrust of the project...haha,getting bogged down minutia always happens to obsessive compulsives!...thanks again mate..cheers Dave :)

I love that fretless playing! It's SO COOL! The 12 string is a nice compliment to the jazz bass! Some of the best music I've heard on looperman! I'd fave it if I could!

Dave,

This is simply brilliant. I love the innocence of the vocals and your respectful treatment of them. This is wonderful from start to finish. It brought back memories of when my daughters were that age.

Thanks for that.

And thanks to your niece as well.

Where is James Brown? Something about this song reminds me of Funk! One of my favorites right here. Great.

Love the production and most everything about this one. I am starting to like this site a whole lot better, already. No ego trip here, but I wish I could multi_task better, as it seems you are good at.

What a great track Dave (and a sad story to boot). The fretless bass here is superb and the mix is top notch! Great stuff - I've taken a download for future enjoyment and would fav it if there were still such a feature.

Dude this sucks! (Is that mild mannered enough for you?)

No seriously, I had to home in on this as 50 downloads from this site must be some sort of world record. I can see why it's so popular as well. The combination of atmospherics, percussion and slap's always brilliant sax playing have conjured up a big time winner here.

51 downloads and counting!!!

The intro had me hooked...crazy how much a life can impact another, even in passing.
The bass is wicked in this. Very wicked. I found the guitar to be a bit... scratchy(?) at times. But it wasn't anything major.
The track paints a picture of that hang-glider in my mind...Soaring high.
Great song PJB.

Every little thing in this one shines, but it is the bass that steals the show (as it should). A beautiful sentiment and a beautiful tribute.

Another classic from one of the best. I hope all is well.

Bravo Dave. Beautiful work.

Hey Dave. This track soars with all sorts of atmosphere and emotion. Sad to hear the story behind the music. I think I'd rather do freestyle ski acrobatics off a cliff and do something that I loved doing at my last moments than waste away slowly waiting for my last day. Your friend may have met his maker quickly, but he did it doing something he loved. Great song

Wonderful track here.
Great intro and when the instruments come in,Wow...breathtaking.
The song floats with the moving separation of tracks that make this an experience as much as a great song, which is rare to me.

The 12string is sweet and your bass has a great tone, the notes are very clear in the mix.
That change at 2:08 made me smile with appreciation that you made those chord choices, refreshing and stay's in your theme but makes you think again, question and definitely conclude that this is a very special song worth a lot more than one four minute listen so thanks for the download.
Oh yes,the guitar picking at and on the change was perfect.

I wish you could see how many plays I gave this:)

Hey Al..thanks for the kind words mate! much appreciated...the 12 string is a sweet little axe,it's about half the size of a normal dreadnought and is a dream to play..I've got two fingers going at the moment in the picking department...man how dudes get the others working is beyond me..though I'll try! lol...thanks again for the listen!..cheers Dave :)

mighty fine piece of art of expression ... the fretless bass is in the right hands for sure ... it needs fine ears and a lot of feeling for the tone to get out the best of that instrument, and you have all that attributes and two more: the ability to compose and to arrange the music you feel inside ...
me as the lucky listener is just thankful ... ;-)

peace, rei

Hey Dave, it's always great to hear a new one from you. This is a really sweet piece, much like the rest of your tracks. Great intro, equally great ending. The mid/ending started to go in a slightly different direction like Ensam mentioned, kinda wished it hadn't stopped. I agree with Toonz, vocals would be a nice touch but that being said, it still is a nicely produced instrumental.

Always a pleasure, thanks for sharing!

Hey Wayne...great to see you back online mate, that must have been a real bummer moving.....I was in two minds about this track...I dearly would have liked to get a singer onboard and no doubt the song would have had a more linear aspect (since I got this 12 string it puts you in song writing mode every time you pick it up)...I guess I better pay more attention to that in future (jeez I wish I could sing, but I sound like a deflating ballon!lol)...thanks for the kind review mate!..cheers Dave :)

Ohh the sounds in the intro are absolutely Hollywood. There is some phasing going on with the acoustic guitar and the same guitar sounds a bit thin.

Anyways beside that small detail...love the bass...the fretless has it's persona sometimes and it works here perfectly. I like the sound of that snare, almost like a Slingerland Classic.

Well I think the song describes perfectly freedom. I don't know why but for some reason that's where my mind want's to go now maybe because of the up-tempo sound.

Cheers!

Amazing track...Loving the acoustic guitar. Great Bass play as it fit in real nicely. Everything in general mashed up real well. Also really like the intro, set the mood.

Also guessing that near the end you brought up the bass intentionally...dont know if thats just me but I actually liked it (didnt really like it at the first listen) after listening to it a few times.

Great job and dl.

Hi Omar..thanks for the kind review mate,I start playing closer to the bridge in the second phase which increases the basses attack and I've got to admit I was getting into it and playing harder,so there is a slight increase in volume!lol...actually as Malu pointed out the 12 string was a little weak...I left something switched off when rendering to disc..however it's all fixed now...thank you for pointing out the discrepancy as well!...you gotta love Looperman for the best helpful comments anywhere!...cheers Dave :)
