Description : In 1981 while working at a ski resort during summer I was driving in the local country side while a huge thunder storm was gathering...I happened to look up and saw this hang glider spiraling out of the sky in the most amazingly controlled corkscrew manoeuver I've ever seen...I pulled over and watched as the pilot at no more than twenty feet flared into a perfect three point landing..This guy was obviously a master at his craft...I strode up and offered him a lift and found out he was Juan a Brazilian hang glider expert over for the world championships at Mt Buffalo....two months later I heard that he'd been killed flying into high tension electrical cables in neigbouring New South Wales...this track is in his memory.

Really cool tune. I like the thing going on with the panning...of course the fretless really brings the gel to the track. Who played bass on DAvid Gimour's About Face album???can't recall but the bass feels like something from that era,,,,,and that's a real good thing. I too thought the 12 string was a little thin in spots, but that's just on one listen. Won't be the last though. TK

Well, I don't know all the technical lingo but I really enjoyed that intro. The atmosphere of this takes me to a relief of some sort, a lifting of the spirits because of something left behind, something you didn't need, baggage.

Good vibes on this! May even have yourself a vocalist ;-)

Cool description mate (though it sux that the guy died). I dunno why, but this makes me think of a setting similar to the one in Monument Valley nat'l park- with the mesas, spiders, and all. Musically, this makes me think of what'd happen if INXS met up with Collective Soul and did a face-off with Steely Dan and Pearl Jam. Very nice jams here mate. Wouldn't change a single thing about it, but if I were to suggest anything it'd be to consider adding some tribal chants/singing (but that's just my craziness chimin in there). Otherwise, this is golden. Will def fave/save. Lates!

The intro had me hooked...crazy how much a life can impact another, even in passing.
The bass is wicked in this. Very wicked. I found the guitar to be a bit... scratchy(?) at times. But it wasn't anything major.
The track paints a picture of that hang-glider in my mind...Soaring high.

    Wonderful track here.
Great intro and when the instruments come in,Wow...breathtaking.
The song floats with the moving separation of tracks that make this an experience as much as a great song, which is rare to me.

The 12string is sweet and your bass has a great tone, the notes are very clear in the mix.
That change at 2:08 made me smile with appreciation that you made those chord choices, refreshing and stay's in your theme but makes you think again, question and definitely conclude that this is a very special song worth a lot more than one four minute listen so thanks for the download.
Oh yes,the guitar picking at and on the change was perfect.

I wish you could see how many plays I gave this:)

mighty fine piece of art of expression ... the fretless bass is in the right hands for sure ... it needs fine ears and a lot of feeling for the tone to get out the best of that instrument, and you have all that attributes and two more: the ability to compose and to arrange the music you feel inside ...
me as the lucky listener is just thankful ... ;-)

Hey Dave, it's always great to hear a new one from you. This is a really sweet piece, much like the rest of your tracks. Great intro, equally great ending. The mid/ending started to go in a slightly different direction like Ensam mentioned, kinda wished it hadn't stopped. I agree with Toonz, vocals would be a nice touch but that being said, it still is a nicely produced instrumental.

Always a pleasure, thanks for sharing!

Hey Wayne...great to see you back online mate, that must have been a real bummer moving.....I was in two minds about this track...I dearly would have liked to get a singer onboard and no doubt the song would have had a more linear aspect (since I got this 12 string it puts you in song writing mode every time you pick it up)...I guess I better pay more attention to that in future (jeez I wish I could sing, but I sound like a deflating ballon!lol)...thanks for the kind review mate!..cheers Dave :)

Ohh the sounds in the intro are absolutely Hollywood. There is some phasing going on with the acoustic guitar and the same guitar sounds a bit thin.

Anyways beside that small detail...love the bass...the fretless has it's persona sometimes and it works here perfectly. I like the sound of that snare, almost like a Slingerland Classic.

Well I think the song describes perfectly freedom. I don't know why but for some reason that's where my mind want's to go now maybe because of the up-tempo sound.

    Cheers!

Amazing track...Loving the acoustic guitar. Great Bass play as it fit in real nicely. Everything in general mashed up real well. Also really like the intro, set the mood.

Also guessing that near the end you brought up the bass intentionally...dont know if thats just me but I actually liked it (didnt really like it at the first listen) after listening to it a few times.

Hi Omar..thanks for the kind review mate,I start playing closer to the bridge in the second phase which increases the basses attack and I've got to admit I was getting into it and playing harder,so there is a slight increase in volume!lol...actually as Malu pointed out the 12 string was a little weak...I left something switched off when rendering to disc..however it's all fixed now...thank you for pointing out the discrepancy as well!...you gotta love Looperman for the best helpful comments anywhere!...cheers Dave :)

My older brother does the lead vocals and I do everything else, from instrumentation to harmonies. No vocal-editing whatsoever in this one. The guitars were all one-take recordings. Updated the audio - I added tambourine hits in the 2nd and 3rd choruses; just helps make for a more moving song.

Description : Written for Claudio's birthday (my Italian friend) in obvious waltz manner and with slight classical touch this tune appears to me almost painfully simple and minimalistic (and indeed it is)....and yet, Claudio who's very familiar with my music says that this is one of the nicest pieces of music I've ever written even if it wasn't his birthday present....well, who knows if he's right..:)^^
