Don't know why hadn't reviewed this one, very different for you, but in a good way mate...Track seems to take you on a journey, well it does to myself, mix sounds brilliant, don't know anything about genre at all, but liking what I am hearing here, that's the main thing...has a Indian feel about as in India the country, excellent...Fav'd...Peace friend, hope you and family are well matey...Mosaic...
I love the vibe and groove of this track - totally my kind of sounds and I really should look to obtaining these sounds somehow. I'm not talking about samples but playing the relevant instruments(I have a sitar but don't play it)or synth settings. My main problem with it is that it doesn't real go anywhere. Perfect pure background stuff for films or any chillout event, trance, ritual or similar but it doesn't seem to have any clearly defined sections or changes, though this may be how you made it and what you want. So, all in all, I have no problem with what is there, more of a problem with what isn't there. More reviews to come of your good work, just thought I'd review your least reviewed track.
One of the first in this medium that I really liked. It was also the first to fall from grace for me - lol. Funny the difference in perspectives between the audience and the performer. I've wondered several times now about trying this one again, and you've got me in contemplation mode again. Thanks Wayne, both for the review and inducing thinking on my part. Cheers.
nice.. I love the eastern feel those instruments really get my hairs on the back of my neck up... this track is dub smoking a houkka in Marrakesh brother.. nice I love it.. you work those effects so well beautiful... keep 'em coming brother
Hey Numberjack - cheers again for creating that little game! This is one of my first 3 tracks made in this medium, and probably the one that convinced me to continue doing the "solo" approach. Thanks for the review and encouragement, my UK brother!
excellent track, liking the unique dub style and classic eastern sound on this one, really feeling those hats bind and bring together the instruments which are trying to pull away.
Explorations in music is the order of the day, another for the faves.cheers.
I love the sound of instruments that are non-traditional to the West, as also those here that tend to be obscure. Maybe it's the Psychedelic sensibility that's there. The hats - definitely the unifier here, in an attempt to subvert World Music and introduce some spirit. Thanks for the review!
The intro was really unique (but i'm not an avid dub listener). Is that sitar? The swirling synths were cool..really helped spring the track along. percussion seemed ethnic, but went with it
When I made this one, I was so happy - and yet it's the track that has fallen the farthest from my favor yet. Yes, that's a sitar (sampled) and I still like how the synths swirl in this. Thanks for the listen and review!
Play 2 now...
I'll readily admit that 'dub' isn't a genre that I know all that much about. Though lately I've been wanting to rectify this situation by listening to more (as I have done with some other genres on www.di.fm).
This one has a decent lil mix of indo-chinese grooves going on (with the sitar sounding synth). And the drums kinda remind me of reggae fused with either hiphop or pop. This is kinda trippy stuff ya made here mate. Later on!
The genre situation... I'll probably go to my grave scratching my head over this one. Dub seems to be a good "generic genre" for just about any full-on sampling approach (sonic collage) so I think I'll stick with it until someone slaps my hands. It's funny how "questionable" this track sounds to me now. It's really hard for me to hear it without also hearing the limitations of the software I was using for this one. Thanks for the listen.
I still haven't taken any of it very seriously yet. Sincerely, sure (music's about that) but since I'm using other people's samples how can I not give it back? Glad you like what I'm trying to do - the software's creating lot's of limitations, but I suppose in a way it's part of the fun (or drama).
Nice one man, this is really music for exploring the magic of the world around us, your music has so many influences that it's hard to categorize..and that's the best part about it! your mastery of polyrhythms really comes out here against the sitars and other sounds weaving in and out..did u use psychotropic circle loops too? His stuff is great too..
thanks for sharing your artistry!
victormusic01x...in the nyC..trying to figure out if I can stop this anoying rain with all the great music I've been listening to lately on looperman....!
It's a funny thing - this was the first track I felt I'd "succeeded" on and now it's my least favorite. I love the samples psychotropic circle has posted and I think I should probably send a personal thank you note for making them available. Glad you enjoy!
A very eclectic peice. Your style sounds alot like an Ambient Dub. Worldly sounding through and through. I feel like I'm encapsulated by a swirling wall of sound. A good processing of your sound. Sweet chillen.
Thanks. I'm not satisfied with it entirely, but I've been unable to create a better version - yet. I'm going to keep trying. I think I can get the sitar loops to work a little better, and adjust down some of the effects through it all.
