Description : This was on my tracklist for a period of time, but I obviously deleted it.. I remember it was something weird with the bassline at that time.. But I'm uploading it again, since I feel it deserves to be one of the 50 songs I have here.
Hardware is a Jackson RR5, Line 6 Pod X3 and my laptop.
Software is Reaper, Addictive Drums, Gearbox.
Guitars, bass and drums by Steinaa - cant remember who did the piano parts.. My apologies..!

Not much I can say, buddy. Your work is always top quality in my books. Since you already stated that this was a "rough mix", there's no reason for me to point out any problems in that area. Musically, I think it's a great track.
First of all, this is amazing, awesome arrangement, mixed well. Faved it. But did you use gearbox? I use gearbox too, and truthfully the tone just never impresses me. It's uncanny, I wish I still had a copy of a metal song I did with my port because you'd hear it for yourself. I'll see if I can't find it. Your settings might be completely different than mine, you have a Jackson and I had a Schecter, etc, but to hear the tracks, especially when doubled, they sound identical. It kind of puts this hollow tinny thing into the mix no matter what you do to beef it up. It's funny you said that about your bassline too, I tried bringing my bassline up and just fricking hated it, hence the song's deletion now. :) I'm looking for a better option for guitar effects myself because of it. It's ok for the cleaner effects, chorus and flange, but hearing your skills, I definitely think you should consider a better port or whatever. You know what you're doing. :) Again, it's still great, and the first thing I've heard by you. I'm off to hear more now.
Hey KateTheGreat :) First of all- thank you very much. I have used Gearbox for approximately 4 years now (since I bought my Pod X3..), and I'm really pleased with both things. Although it took awhile for me to figure out the sound I wanted, I feel like its working like it should now. Dont get me wrong here, its not close to the perfection I want, but its fair enough compared to what other stuff do in that pricerange. I would love to hear that metal song you're talking about. And by the way.. when you are doubling tracks - are you just duplicating them, or are you recording two different tracks..? (Just gotta ask..) And what setup do you use in gearbox? (Amp/cab models.) This song is not one of my better mixing-wise, and if you got time and want to hear one of my latest - this is it:
Anyway, really appreciate your review. I'm sort of in a hurry here, so I gotta bounce - but I'm leaving the fan open on your page to listen when I get back. Thanks again Kate.
Another awesome track. I would probably add a thicker, deeper sounding rythm to complement the lead, and add some vocals, but that's a personal preference. You have the skills to go professional, you just need to get a vocalist and contact a record company. You may need to try several, but one will eventually listen, and then ka-blam!! If that's what you want, i mean, it's your song. Fav.
Awesome track. As usual. Even if I'm not into metal, your work is always thrilling and your musical skills impress the hell out of me. Much respect

Description : I asked Danke if I could add some vocals to his track Future Machine and he kindly agreed and sent me the track. The lyrics are about a soldiers experience in war as he and his trench mates are told to get up and out of their trench and attack the enemy across open fields. I can only imagine the fear, tension and chaos that goes through one's mind at that moment.
Description : I discovered Meshuggah around 2003 and was blown away by the power, complexity and super Heavy sound of their music. Their "Nothing" album marked the switch to 8 string guitars and pushed Heavy Metal into a whole new territory. My track is a variant cover of their song "Nebulous". I have stayed pretty close to the original but added a few dynamic elements of my own. Its loud, its super heavy and way out there...Beyond Nebulous.
Description : This unconventional metal track is dedicated to Valvedriver https://www.looperman.com/users/profile/841435 though it's not a parody of his fine music or me actively trying to sound like it. I struggled for months with the first few minutes of this track knowing that I must be able to take it somewhere deeper, more psychedelic and powerful. Then I loaded some sampled choir voice instruments, as used in my track Reckful https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/160356 and suddenly found myself happily in Valveland - not a place I visit often. Feeling amply Valvedriven and newly inspired, I added the last few minutes fairly easily and very quickly. So: it's a twisting, turning mixture of grunge, menacing ambient, mystical metal and ultra-heavy funk. Instruments: electric guitar+bass, synth basses, female choir voices, one synth pad, some other synths on the nastier side of things and a few programmed heavy acoustic drumkits playing a mixture of triplets and straighter grooves. Interesting thoughts appreciated. Favourite bits? Shit bits? Please listen on good headphones/speakers as there's a lot of heavy bass in this. Now get ready to rock: balls out, hands in the air and with rebellious joy in your heart. Just try not to headbang the hell out of your laptop. Go!
Description : Whats up guys?! Been a while I know. Iv'e moved around a lot but have finally settled down and have been hard at work with my metal band. Unfortunately I've had to put my solo work on hold for a bit while I'm recording with the band. We are being professionally recorded now, a very big step up from the last recording of my band that I posted here. Anyways, hope you guys enjoy! We are, Raze The Pyre.
