This is pretty cool. The vocals are very bubblegum pop, but the drums and backing melodies suitably darken the song. The extro is a little odd. But I don't dislike it. Mixes things up a bit. Overall I enjoyed it. Good work man.
Congratulations on winning the contest! Even without the vocals this is a treat for the ears. Really well composed and executed. Can't wait to hear what you guys come up with :)
Liking the Rock N Rolla quote in the intro. Great movie. The music production is really on point. From the horn stabs to the sweet piano line on the outro, the track holds the listeners attention. It is never dull. You're voice has a great presence within the track, it punctuates your message in all the right ways. Great stuff.
Hey man, first and foremost, that is a great movie. I really resonated to this particular scene, and I discovered Lou Reed because of this movie, so kudos to you for knowing where it came from. Secondly, thank you for listening and I appreciate your feedback and I mean that from the depths of my soul. Peace & Blessings.
Such a beautiful, minimalist approach. The music is light and delicate, like the snowflake. Really gives one a feeling of peace and goodwill. Fantastic
Hi Orlando.
I've been listening to this track every now and again and can never figure out what to write. This is such a beautiful piece, it never fails to make me cry. I played it to a couple of my friends and it blew them away. I'm not gonna write much more because I'm blubbering again!
Many times I have the same problems when I dig a certain piece of music very much and I remain speechless, but that's a very special compliment!:) Thanks alot for your kind thoughts and for sharing this with your friends!
Hi man. Really like the flow and the feel of this track. You've given the vox some great grooves to play over. That sax is fantastic. I'd personally add some pads to fill the empty spaces, but that is just personal taste. It's beautifully arranged either way and a joy to listen to.
This is pure, beautiful insanity! It's like Tool rescored Fantasia. The different motifs are so expertly blended that new images are conjured to the mind with ease. It's carnivalesque at first, then the ghostly choral comes in before the bass growls a low warning of the dangers ahead.
The tension holds as all begins to fade into the distance. We are left to wonder what horrific wonders we have just witnessed. Then silence.
That gets me right here, man. (taps chest)
I've gotten several Tool references over the years. I'm honored by the reference, but hope I never sound like I'm trying to sound like them. I'd like to think that I inject a bit of my sense of humor into my music, but I learned to play bass by learning Tool songs, so comparisons are going to happen I suppose.
Nice clean pop-folk sound. Everything glistens the way it should and the bass is just warm enough. You know how to get the sound that you want and that's an impressive skill. Can't wait to hear how it sounds with the right voice.
This is cool man. Love how you start with her soft, buttery voice over clean, engaging backing.... THEN TEAR THAT S#!7 Up!!
Part of me loves how destructive the second half is, but the other part wants to hear what could be made of the more linear first half...
I'm with you either way.
Other than me singing Manson's The Beautiful People at 3:26, I've never heard anything quite like this. It's so bluesy, ballsy and unashamed that it kicks you in the face before you can make an objection. Basically... It's so much crazy fun that I can't really critique this. It's just freakin' Awesome! :D
I don't think I'd heard The Beautiful People before so went and checked it out and I think I can see a connection to the groove at 3:26.
"I've never heard anything quite like this"
Excellent. That's my aim with every track I make. First, to make something I haven't heard before. And then I hope some other people might feel the same.
"bluesy, ballsy and unashamed"
I like to think so.
"so much crazy fun that I can't really critique this."
Sure - I know what you mean. It's supposed to be such an overwhelming riot of sound that you're listening and perhaps not even thinking about technical details or whatever, just letting the badassery course through your veins. Hopefully you can't sit still while listening to this.
Let me know if you have any other thoughts once you've calmed down as I'm always interested to hear them.
The glistening synths and the sax stabs feel like Kid A era Radiohead. All the elements suggest that you threw the rule book at the window and just did what felt right (which turned out to be a really good thing). The whole composition comes off as competent yet playful; I get the feeling that you had a lot of fun making it. I also had a lot of fun listening to it. Thanks for sharing.
Hi!
Many thanks for listening and the very interesting associations! Music can also be funny and crazy, right?
I've listened to many tracks of your music. I find it very subtle, lyrical, it reminds me of beautiful maturing pearls :)
I would love to remix your song: "The Walts Of Regret", if you like it and give me your individually recorded tracks.
Greatings from Ben
I had to fave this before I even got to the end.
You've mixed all the acoustic phrases so wonderfully that the song feels like it's breathing. Then the piano glides in and adds an extra shimmer to the airiness of the intro.
For me, the first 2 minutes sound like a lost track from Metallica's Master of Puppets. The light and the heavy parts blend seamlessly, driving the song forward and allowing new motifs to unfold. Then the final part brings in that funky bass and the track becomes it's own sound as it struts into the outro. We are left in silence to wonder 'WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED!?". Then we hit 'play' again and all is good :)
I'm glad to hear you liked this track. It became a pretty big pain in my ass for a while. Im not happy with the lead tone in the ending section, but I'm ready to move on the different things.
I really love the style and the feel of this track. Reading the lyrics, along with the repeating guitar phrases and lyrics, give the song a similar feeling to a beat poem. The music is accompanying the words, rather than the words accompanying the music. This really suited your vocal style as well. It feels like you've found your 'sound'. Great work.
A heartfelt tribute to those who suffer from a terrible illness. As someone who has a lot of personal experience with mental health issues, it's always a comfort to hear people speak up about it. Great track.
Holy hell, I love this! So spiritual and seductive. Kinda reminds me of Saltillo with its hip-hop/world motifs. I love the interplay between the guitar and the piano. It's like they're saying different things sometimes, but they carry the same feeling. Fantastic. Loved the journey.
Wow, goodness me...another reviewer mentioning seductiveness....so there must be something..hehe..
"Saying different things with the same feeling"...I think you have a great point here !:) Really glad for this positive feedback of yours....thank you so much mate !:)
Great sound and an important message. Thy lyrics are so well thought out. I really love the chorus. Considering this is a rough cut, it was really easy to listen to. Looking forward to hearing the finished mix. Good work.
Hi man. I love how chilled this track is. You've done well with taking a minimal approach, but keeping things interesting with your vocal interplay. My only criticism is (and I am definitely guilty of this myself) that the vocals might be a bit too over-processed in places. I love the quirkyness of them, but feel they are a bit too distant from the backing track. Other than that, it's pretty damn awesome.
I love how quirky and infectious this song is. It's (as others have mentioned) very fresh. Never heard anything quite like it, which is a shame, I want more dammit!
Definitely a fave :)
Thank you for your nice comment :)
my songs are all, in my opinion at least, unique from each other, but yet a bit of the same..
regardless there is only one song I uploaded before that resemblence a bit of this active kinda vibe, and that song is, 07 Smooth As Me ,right herer on looperman.
You have created a very intense and unnerving atmosphere. It's always changing, so we never feel safe. The vocal soundbites all work together to further the sense of otherworldliness.
thank you toasted i appreciate the feedback i dont get it often, i really think the themed song idea will bring about positive interaction, im glad to be part of it. :)
