This is really great. Your voice works well with the piano and you don't hold back on the performance. As has been mentioned, you may need to turn the vox down a tad so that the piano has a little more room in the mix. But other than that it's fantastic.
This is a lovely minimalist track. The sound evolves naturally and tells your story of the abandoned sanctuary very well. It gives the feeling of something frozen in time, mixed with memories of both joy and sadness. It's a beautiful first song of the day for me to listen to. Made me feel calm and pensive. So thank you :)
Yes, "something frozen in time"...very intelligent observation and I'm glad you recognised all those mixed sentiments. So thanks alot for listening and for this
lovely feedback!:)
Dude, save some genres and chord progressions for the rest of us! The complexity of this track is amazing. It never stays static and although I know you must have put a lot of effort into the changes, 9/10 it seems effortless.
Although throughout it's chaotic length, there are some parts that are weaker than others, it really is an impressive piece of work. Exhausting and brilliant. Thanks for recommending.
Thanks for giving this a go. I get what you mean about saving some genres and chord progressions for everyone else. I was in some crazy, rich vein of form making this and most stuff that I threw at it seemed to find its way in.
" It never stays static"
That's because it's a nomad working it, moving it here, there and everywhere.
"I know you must have put a lot of effort into the changes, 9/10 it seems effortless."
Yes, loads of effort in carefully trimming and automating everything but good to know it all seems to fit together and, I guess, flow smoothly.
"there are some parts that are weaker than others"
That's inevitable as it's hard to make every section a highlight. Many exist just a means of getting from one existing section to another. And then they keep getting extended as the ideas flow. But feel free to point out any particular problem sections and I'll see if I can make improvements.
"Exhausting"
Yes - there's a very welcome break at 3:24. Before that, I felt it was wave after wave of intense madness.
This track has two sister tracks (this is perhaps the best) ie same project so same tempo, many shared sounds etc. I could have made them all as one 40 min track but it's much better for them to be separate. They are:
Hi budalhoco. I'm not really into rap music, but this is really well executed. Those little guitar lines are infectious and the drums are perfect. It's a joy to listen to. Great stuff.
Hi 7evnth 12.
I like the way this track builds and the samples are great. The ticking clock on the break is a really nice touch. I can really appreciate how much thought you've put into the composition. The horns are different and quite catchy as well. So it's a full package of musical goodies. It's a like from me :)
Beautiful melodies and composition. You've created a very strong and emotive track. You have a wonderful voice. It's very suited to the track.
As has been mentioned, you may need to bring down the highest frequencies when you EQ. It will cut some of the microphones fuzz. Also, fade the track to near silence when you finish a line. It will clear up any static noise in between. Oh and make more beautiful music. You are very talented.
And as for the EQ, I'm a complete amateur, so this kind of advice is gold to me. I have actually invested in Alloy2 and am putting some time in to learn, so hopefully any future songs will be better mixed.
Well it certainly isn't the Time Warp! But I really enjoyed the grittiness of this track. It makes no apologies, it just does it's things and screams "f00k y0u!!!", whilst biting the head off a drug-addled bat... Or something.
Wish I had the kind of vocals that could work for this. But I'm not a metal vocalist. I look forward to hearing more.
This is very trippy and hypnotic. Your voice really grounds the madness. It's obviously not recorded with the best microphone, but it somehow works! I like how your tracks never sound the same, there's always something enigmatic about them. I enjoyed this very much.
Thanks TA for your friendly words.
Always nice to know that there are people around who listen to my music and like the way i do my stuff.
Sounds maybe a bit strange but i never own any good instrument or mic or recorder or computer or or or . I call myself the real low teck man but now, after 35 years of makeing music, i think i should invest just a few euros into a better mic :)
I don't usually like this genre, but I think you're really onto something here. It's like someone gave Trap a Xanax and told it to chill the F00k out. And it worked and everyone was happy :p
Wow, you've really captured the genre's joyful feelings of nostalgia. I bet uncle John will be tapping away to this with a grin on his face. I know I was :)
I'm loving the mix and sharp production. The lead melody does get a little repetitive though; It's basically "Making Christmas" from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Differentiating the motif will help this track come alive. Other than that, it's really good.
Much appreciate cheers to the mix as for the repetitive melody i try to not have to many things happening the idea might stray away will take your point in to consideration on another piece Listening to other trap tracks but still like my arrangement more than what u get most guyz doing out there cheers
Those synth strings are so beautiful. It's like silk for the soul. And you've mixed the bass wonderfully; keeping it humming away underneath the other instruments. The progression is perfect, sorrowful refrains give way to uplifting moments of hope. This really was a pleasure to listen to.
I was marveling at how clean and expansive your sound was, then that acoustic guitar drifted in and I swooned! This is all kinds of epic. Really great stuff.
Cool track. Very nice production. I always enjoy hearing something that is familiar, but has it's own voice (this most literally). I would like to have heard a little reverb on the vocals. Just to really blend them in with the soundscape. But that's just personal taste and some would strongly disagree. I loved listening to it either way. Thank you for sharing it.
I love time-stretching guitars. It creates a haunting "shimmer" that can really make a track come alive. I love the opening melodies and the feeling of sheer joy you seem to feel when just rocking out. The psychedelic doom fusion works surprisingly well and keeps the track feeling fresh. It's gonna take afew listens to capture everything that's going on here. So I shall have to favorite it and keep coming back!
Have you got any tracks with extremely stretched guitars in them that I could hear?
You're right about the timestretch shimmer effect. It's amazing.
It seems to work particularly well with slide guitar parts. Something to do with the fact that the slide is moving through each microtone as it moves up or down a string. And then that gets seriously elongated, producing some haunting sounds. But the vocal qualities produced here I still don't understand!
"the opening melodies"
I guess you mean the lead melodic guitar starting 0:21. I used a section of that guitar playing for timestretching (and sprinkling throughout the track) as the chords are so pleasant. Strange to put that kind of melodic chill vibe over this powerful doom-like stuff. I think it actually stops it from being doom.
I'm working on a chillout ambient funk remix/continuation of this track right now though it's not going too well.
"the feeling of sheer joy you seem to feel when just rocking out."
Very pleased to hear you feel that too as my instrument playing is mostly about joy and groove and melody. Even when hard rocking or playing metal it's very rarely aggressive but about luxuriating in powerful, psychedelic sounds and fun grooves.
"It's gonna take a few listens to capture everything that's going on here"
Always the aim with every track I make. I look to make deep stuff that offers more and more and that is unlike throwaway pop music.
I think you're very right to be proud of this track. It has a wonderful magic that allows you to float somewhere between the bassline and the high piano line. I particularly enjoyed the moment at 2.45 when the bass begins to bounce around playfully. Great work.
Thank you! I am very happy with how this came together. The keys and bassline made this track so amazing, I believe. I'll definitely stick with this style more. Thank you again!
I'm glad the thrill is back, I always miss it when it's away. This a very uplifting tune which struts about the place cool and confidently. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it.
hahahaha yeah man, definitely cut the track before the mic hit the floor. I'm so glad you were able to vibe to this one. it really was a pleasure to spit over that beat.
Loving this track. Very chilled and easy to listen to. The vocals sound great and the staccato bassline that comes in after the chorus really livens the track. The spritely pads are a really nice touch, they play a lovely catchy melody.
My only criticism is the claps in the second chorus. They're not quite snappy enough to punctuate the beats as they should do. However, It's a small qualm in an otherwise brilliant track. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Subchief. I'm liking the sounds, it's got a nice chunky groove to it. I get the feeling that you've taken a lot of time and care to get the sound you wanted from the guitar and it's paid off. Now you need to work on expanding the arrangement. Maybe some higher guitar leads, like a cleaner guitar with lots of delay, would give the track a kind of Tool feel. If you wanted to be experimental you could also try playing a synth through a VST amp. That would make the track even grittier.
Best of luck in developing the track, I look forward to seeing where you take it.
