Listen To Hey Hey Hey - A Meeting With The Devil Rock Song By Joecramer At Looperman.com

18th Nov 2016 18:23 - 9 years ago
Description : I worked around on some guitar loops made by Phatkatz. At the end i got something that one could call dark and evil, but i would say it's just a little dark and human .... some kind of rock music with handmade guitars and some self played vst's like organ, chorus and guitar. Also some drums and vocals. ..... You should take a look into the lyrics to get what i singing about. Lyrics are in german and also translated into english. Hope you will like it.

Hey Hey Hey Just reading the comments about Leonard Cohen, I got the guitar tab for Hallelujah. We might need to do something with that :) I'm only working one job now and all moved, quite the difference from when I was active here before! See if I can do some catching up.

Wow it's great to hear these older recordings! 3 years ago, what a time. I'm hoping to do lots of music related stuff with winter almost on us here I'll be indoors alot more. How's things in your world Joe? I haven't been playing my 6 string guitars for a while, alot of slide guitar, but I see I was going to do some solo stuff on this, that may just be a good place to start again.

This is a really cool piece, and in a style which is not well represented here on the Loop. Puts me in mind of blues rock ballads, maybe from the mid sixties or something. Seems not to be a popular sort of song now, but maybe songs such as this will change that. I always enjoyed folk a bit more than blues, but excellent ballads are common in both. This sounds like a new sort of classic to my ears, or at least it will be if you can work with Burt further on the composition. I enjoyed reading the lyrics, as I usually do, and again I thank you for the translation. I find the process of translation itself to be very interesting, considering that though processes seem a bit shifted depending on native languages. Very special song! Fave!

Hello Spiv
Hopefuly Burt will found some time to work a little on/with this track but right now it seems like he is working all night and day and has no time for anything else.
Thanks for all your friendly words about the music and lyrics. Always good to know that people also listen to the lyrics or read them cause they are mostly a big part of in work.
This translate thing is really a special thing and i bet that i do mostly bad translations, cause sometimes i really use not common words and that make it not to easy to translate it good :) But i am much better then a "normal" google translation would bring it to you .... like the row
- der Teufel stand langsam auf und fing an zu tanzen
ganz lässig - ganz für sich allein -
this -lässig- i translated with
- The devil got up slowly and began to dance
Quite cool - just for himself
But maybe a -Quite casually/unceremoniously- fits better ...
Your are extremely right, translation is a very interesting process

So thanks again for your comment and the listen and reading and also for the fav. I am pleased that this song is so well liked.

this kind of singing make me think to leonard cohen (rip, it was a genious): a low and deep voice.
On an instrumental plan, there's some blues in your rock ;) that's why i won't say it's dark, i'd rather say it's full of sadness :)

nice track

Ah, Leonard Cohen, yeah one of the best voices i ever listen to. Like i told you already, i am a child of the 80's and he did one of his best track in his 80's :) Did you ever listen to - Almost like the blues - ???? so good. so sad
With this blues and sadness thing you are fully right
But rock and dark is also not wrong :)

Nice to know that i could remember you on Mr Cohen with my music. That's a kind of honor.

this does have a western feel with a pinch of dark. the deeper voice is perfect for that dark feel. when the backup choir enters at 4:07 it would sound good with mabe a slightly louder bass beat. just a flavor suggestion. Is great the way it is though. guitars are smooth. great for a guide line for me. may try anouther guitar piece. great song.

Hello Mindhiest,
Nice to read your gentle comment. I really enjoyed that.
Hopefully Burt (Phatkatz) will add some more guitar lines and or a bass line. So this one will not be the final version. But i have to wait until he has some more time for music and not spend all his time into work :)

Cool, dark, brooding style of rock. Sets an ominous tone right from the beginning with southern/swamp blues style guitars. The lyrics fit the music well and tell a great story, well done Joe!

Hallo Squennix,

The Chorus is so Teutonic. I liked this one, you really processed Burts guitars, but it works well. I´m humming to myself Hey. Hey. Heyyyy! Teufelwerk indeed.

I really love the style and the feel of this track. Reading the lyrics, along with the repeating guitar phrases and lyrics, give the song a similar feeling to a beat poem. The music is accompanying the words, rather than the words accompanying the music. This really suited your vocal style as well. It feels like you've found your 'sound'. Great work.

joecramer
joecramer replied 20th Nov 2016 - 9 years ago
Hello Centralsdev,
nice to see you back.

My voice is deep as it is :)
No pitching at all.

So a bit higher would mean 1 octave higher and then i think it would change the feeling much to much .....

Sure i could make the instruments just a few notes higher but that would destroy the sound of the guitars ....

So i think it is good like it is

Hello!

Hmm, really unusual track i think. Musically the track is a bit boring to me for 6 minutes (it's because i don't understand the vocal i think), it would have to been good a bit more variation. Despite that, i liked what i heard, fundamentally sounds really good and refined to me, just my style is a lot more action-packed.
However, i understand the fact that this monotony were the conception too because the vocal, so i do not wrote this as a critic. By the way, the lyrics are really cool!

Regards, traz

joecramer replied 19th Nov 2016 - 9 years ago
Hello Traz75,
i am fully on your side when you say that this one is a little monoton. One big problem here is that Phatkatz has no real time and i had to use only some loops he made. And change guitar loops to a different key sounds mostly creapy so i didn't like to do that. At least the chorus should have some different keys but ......
Good to know that you think that the sound is good and that the vocals fit in a way to what i done.
Also thanks for the friendly words about the lyrics.

I think that you are right that working with Burt is always something special but right now he hasn't no time at all. And so i just can work a bit with some of his loops he posted here ..... But he told me that he will maybe do some solo stuff to this one when he got some more time.
