really really good evan. I agree with evil army that you need a breakdown section. my suggestion musically is to make that breakdown start with a pad that switches from C#minor(Key of the song) to C#major and you can do some wonderful wild things with the key switch then re build it back up to the frantic pace you have set with your bass.
Steve
Tried to go with your idea here, no pads though. The closest this came to anything electronic was the drums and an Auto-filter on the drum break in the middle and outro. I try to do as much as I can with just the bass guitar , trying to learn what sounds and textures it can create.
Though way too much of my stuff has sounded the same. I have about 10 tracks on here at 120bpm, don't know why I never thought to change it in the beginning of each track, just went with it.
Let me know how it it as of 1/2/14, the part I did that you and EA83 suggested needs a guitar present, a good lead line that is not in existence at the moment.
Thanks again for the listen and feedback, and don't be afraid to say "No! Dumbass!! That's not what I meant! Put the C# chorus thing HERE, and the jangling nonsense THERE! LISTEN TO ME!!".
Remember, my friend,... I'm married too. Abuse like that is like water on a duck. Beads up, Rolls off.
hi bro. thanks for the feedback. yes i am proud of the chorus. plenty people spittin out old school style rap but the chorus is origonal. thanks for the compliment bro.
Nice deep hard sound! drums could be equed' a little better in the mid range. bass is outstanding. Have you tried reductive eq at the 200hz level to get the beat to snap better? that could help, but a monster of a sound(beat) you have going on
well i master none of my joints i have someone do that who has the correct ear for that i try my best to take some of the load off but when i put it up it was after i finished it. but its done correctly now im just a producer not a engineer lol i let someone else do that tedious work. but thank you for the comment and for taking the time to listen.
This is very interesting. I came here because of spiv's lauding of you on face-book. This is definitely not house but the closest house artist I can think of who would be this eclectic would be Green Velvet. That being said. If you have the raw vocal stems and an instrumental version of this. I would love to remix it. I feel I would like to build from the earlier minimalism to a bigger sound and see what happens! if your interested let me know!
Steve
Am glad you liked this, however the stems are ancient history ,maybe i will re record something because i would like to have a stab at an acoustic version of the track ...glad you liked and merry xmas
Ahh this is really nice and smooth. great usage of spacial mixing, love the rhodes like piano, and that style of guitar is one of my favorites (Tumbleweed, Chris Rea, Neal Hubbard etc). ahh an oboe as well. fav'd and d'loaded (Thanks) this is a special song!
Steve
I would have to agree with my esteemed colleague (static) the verb is a bit much at the beginning but I know why you are using it as it can hide some imperfections ;-) . Let your natural voice come thru with a smaller verb but those dub (slap echo) effects are nice. Now when you are singing "Whoaaa" the verb effects are nice on that as it sounds like background singer. check out some drum loops on this site as static is correct as the drums are very monotonous. but this tune has some great potential.. keep working at it learning your pro-tools. And welcome to the loop!
Steve
thanks alot for the input steve. appreciated. i will check out some of the loops on here and hopefuly improve all the time i look forward to learning from guys like youselves and hopefuly producing some great stuff. as i said to static please keep an eye on my progress and i will defo follow you guys. cheers.
very nice track, great use of this pella, I really enjoyed listening to this. Good beats...sort of a cross between big-beat and trip-hop almost Red-Jerry like in some ways. Good stuff
Steve
Thanks. I agree as well but it is just a sample beat and I currently only get to put in 4-6 hours to create these beats and it does effect the finished product.
Beautiful mix, great minimalist approach, fav'd from moi. This is Classic House as it should be! Nice synth solo. good break-down and powers right back in with the groove Great job Steve really impressed with this one.
I liked this a lot Patrick! It's not necessarily dub-step per say but something deeper in a more nouveaux way. Some ideas to call it....Spastic-step, Industro, Vitrol-step, bitter-better, AUIYF (All up in your face)or the ever popular Trip-step-fall. You can tell I am using my Evil-marketing degree to good use here. I like the way you use vocals and specifically hard consonants as a percussive sound on your vocals. good work!
Steve
Thanks for listening my friend! I like your marketing ideas, but at the same time I shudder to think what more related genre labels will do to the music industry... ha ha! Did you mean vitriol-step? That would make sense. This was all made pretty quickly, so that percussive vocal element was just a glitch that worked. It's good to hear from you on this one!
