The smarter you are, the more humble you become as you understand things that are bigger and more ominous than your own existence. And the more anxiety you will experience because of that Gnostic experience. That is the paradox of humanity. And that is why the ones who experience fear and uncertainty will always choose superstition and emotionally based reactions and shun reason and facts. It's always been this way, I'm afraid. So, now about your voice, holy fry, so good, so good. I really enjoyed this one. You are such a talent. It's a pleasure to listen to your art. Ciao
Hello Steve, thank you very much for your profound words and for your generous praise.
You have already expressed a great deal with remarkable clarity, and I agree with much of what you have said.
I would merely like to add the following: People often begin to elevate themselves out of fear, insecurity, or sheer misunderstanding. They place themselves above other living beingsas if they were separate, as if they were *more*.
Yet it is precisely humans whodriven by a restless hunger for ever *more*throw this planet out of balance.
Plants and animals would never do this.
They move in harmony with the rhythm, not against it.
They do not destroy in order to feel alive.
They are wiser than we allow ourselves to admit.
Damn, that is almost the perfect pop song. Kudos to the band as well; awesome arrangements and perfectly placed sounds. I genuinely enjoyed that tonight.
Thanks, crucethus, it is great to know you enjoyed this song. It's the result of many people's work, so it's wonderful that so many can share in the joy. Don't forget to check out the video crafted by The True Sisters, it's truly beautiful (I know I shouldn't get carried away with praise, but it's really amazing).
Best regards, Anthony
So where are we now? I am listening now in the studio. I have Sony speakers, but I have very special Bose 2.5b angled speakers from 1984. I love the subtle phased pads underneath the tune. Perfection mate. You have done so well on this one. There is a great spread of frequencies from sub to high, and the EQ on them is perfect. I had to Fav this one. Bravo, open up a nice Cava Jaun and enjoy it because you did awesome.
You have no idea how much your comment means to me. The fact that you took the time to listen to my song again in the studio... I'm amazed. And your approval of the equalization and the frequency response fills me with satisfaction. I know I don't have a very good ear for all this, but I do tests and equalization with Sony MDR-7506 headphones to try to get the highs and mids as balanced as possible, without emphasizing the bass because I know these headphones are lacking in bass. Then I listen to it through Adam Audio monitors, and if I like it, I listen to it again, this time with Pioneer headphones to gently adjust the bass. I listen one last time with the Adam Audio and make the final, very subtle adjustment. And if I'm happy with how it sounds on both (headphones and monitors), I consider it finished. Since the speakers have very different frequency ranges, if it sounds good on all of them, it's because the equalization is more or less correct, without being perfect.
This is my method, very rudimentary, but I can't think of any other since I don't have a very keen ear for sound.
Thank you so much for your time and encouragement.
I'll raise a glass to you.
Ohh yeah, That's some sweet guitar, but the vox is what makes this for me. Almost a Robbie Robertson meets Billy Gibbons approach to singing. You get two turntables and a microphone for that, a Ktell record of the greatest hits of Smoky, and (Drum roll, please) one delicious Clamato. /S
Hey crucethus, I shat my pants for that 2 turntables and a microphone, made my day :) that what I love, never listened to Robbie Robertson and Billy Gibbons. You are one of the more crazier people here, love that and keep it.
Hahaha as the old joke goes, the doctor says I have good and bad news for you. The bad news is you have Alzheimer's, the good news is you'll forget about it soon.
I loved the diversity of sections, I have been guilty of that indulgence in the past, it does showcase your immense talent. I wish you all the success in the world.
WOW !!! Such words are so beyond amazing and so encouraging to me, My brother you have gain more than respect from me, i cant thank you enough for your kind words to this old man , have a great weekend my friend !!!
Ok, I love this, almost Glitch, but Damn I really could use something to relax my mind at night. This is perfection, Fav'd. I love that vox at 1:38 so etheral. This, to my ears, is the best song I have heard you make. This is Such a positive vibe, and a cool groove. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this one, so much i almost forgot to tell you how top-notch the production is. Were not worthy, were not worthy (Waynes World)
Alright, my amigo, you have gotten the spatial mastering down well, now it's about the movement of the sections, at 1:22 we need some sub bass in there, and then at 1:57, it's time to bring the percussion up a notch. That's what moves a song along and makes the listener want to come back wanting more. Very nice step in the right direction. Keep at this one, you have it in the pocket, now make it explode! The key is how do you build it and bring it back down. This song was a 1999 master class in underground deep House in NYC Michael T Diamond. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgjLq9xF8qM
Thank you so much for your advice.
I still have so, so, so much to learn. Every little bit of progress I make takes a lot of time because I can't dedicate as much time to it as I'd like. I live alone with many animals that I take care of, all of which I rescued years ago. The one you mentioned you like (the one in the photo) is called Oso (Bear) because he weighs almost 11 kilos and is the oldest of them all; he's 16 years old. Between taking care of the house and them (medications and everything else), I barely have an hour a day to come here and see what you've posted. If I have a little more time, I watch a video tutorial on mixing or mastering and try to put it into practice.
I saw Michael T. Diamond's video, and it's excellent. I think my style isn't Deep House; it would be more like Chill House, but there's no option like that when posting.
Thank you again for your advice; this is how you learn.
Best regards, Juan Carlos
Good morning,
thank you very much for your time and for listening to our track.
Honestly, Im not familiar with either the bands or the specific songs you mentioned, but Ill definitely give them a listen as soon as I get a few free minutes.
There was no direct influence from those bands in the creation of our song. Even in the blueprints we share with our members, the directions and ideas are not related to any specific well-known track. Of course, some similarities may naturally occur whether in chord progressions, solos, or even certain vocal approaches.
Our intention is not to sound like anyone else. At the same time, like every musician, we carry years of musical influences from many different bands, and inevitably those experiences shape the way we write and create music.
I don't underestimate you, mate. Keep on keeping on. The title reminds me of a blasphemous joke if I may... Jesus may turn water into wine, but I can turn Wine into pee. ;-)
lol, i heard that one mate only the punch line was different to the one i heard, it was i can turn lager into Niagara falls lol same meaning tho, it turned out ok to be fair, thanks for the stop too Steven, its always a pleasure to see my ol' mate about
Oi Mark!, I needed that jazz tonight, such a nice mix indeed. But that bassline. Some really nice cord choices on this one. This was an excellent journey all around. The Dolby Atmos had this tune a-cooking on my system tonight.
Alright, so here is some basic stuff for you! Reductive eq. Do not push up, but actually down. If you want those snares to snap, reduce the 200 band down to get that. Lower the master volume when you put compression on it, you get a better dynamic value, as opposed to pushing the compression so much that you join the loudness wars. And annoy ears all around the world :-)
Thank you so much for taking the time to explain it to me. I'll keep your advice in mind as soon as I think of something new to create. I have an acapella of MansasWorld's "Before I Go" that sounds good for doing something different. I'll try your suggestions with it.
Ooh, I love the soft vox here. You almost reminded me of a Quebec Artist, Arianne Moffat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fF1KyZqadw
Obviously, the Leder is heavy here. We need a modern Tristan and Iseult narrative, and this song delivers. Unfortunately, Modern Warfare doesn't wait for our Romantic natures as humans. And it's all such a ridiculous waste of energy and hubris. But Art like this narrates the struggles and difficulties we are presented on a daily basis. Some of us are privileged, and some of us suffer horrendous sorrow. This song captures an ennui of us, the listeners, vs the passion of the song's subjects. brilliant song.
I know Arienne, not personally, but I'm familiar with some of her soulful ballads. And by the way, the song you linked is truly beautiful. I'd be delighted if others here would listen to it as well.
It's an honor that you're comparing me to such an exceptionally talented artist.
You mentioned Wagner's Tristan and Isolde. While that story revolves around revenge, atonement, entangled relationships, and a magic potion that transforms hatred into love, only to ultimately end in death, Denis and Alina's story is quite different. It's about an unwanted separation caused by the madness of war, a separation Denis doesn't survive. Alina is left alone and gives birth to Denis's child. He never got to know it.
When I think about how many young men, who never really had the chance to live their lives, have fallen on the front lines, simply because power-hungry, so-called political leaders want to expand at any cost, driven by economic ambitions that cannot even meet their own limits it's unbearable. People are dying because of this madness.
And unfortunately, this isn't only happening in Ukraine.
Nice work, mate. I used to use Audacity as a mastering tool eons ago when I was running Linux systems strictly. How do you feel about using it? Are you using it with Linux and Jack, or a Windows version?
Hey thanks man! I really appreciate it. I run windows, it's just my current machine sucks. I'll be upgrading soon. Also, I only started mixing about two months ago, and I've just been using Audacity because I kinda already knew it a little. I need to learn a real Studio. I've been playing around in FL Studio but hadn't invested the money yet. Figured I should see what I like first.
