Description : A reworked old tune - one of the most "New Wavey" of my compositions. Always looking for collaborators and constructive commentary. Careful! This is LOUD! Best ~
I'll be honest, I haven't a clue about vocals, but I think it would be cool if you added some mild static to some bits of the song, giving off a sort of disconnected feel. (which you have done a great job with, by the way.)
This is very cool! I'm not usually a proponent of remaking old songs, so in my opinion you should just move into the future with new songs. I like the vintage feel of this, and it seems like it would be hard to convey the message with modern equipment. Did you do the vocals on this, I like em! Jammin tune all around! If you ever want some dark backup vocals or something, I could try to work with you! Faved for sure!
Thanks for the kind words Spiv. Yes, I will definitely have a vocal opportunity or several for you. I think you have an excellent voice - especially well suited for New Wave music.
I think it's quite amazing that verily immediately upon joining this site I find not one but three perfect fits for my project.
Spiv: Vocals/front man
Cruce: mix master, keys
Evisma: Bass
Me (Cole K): Guitar
I'm actually planning a video for Nightmare Girl. Wanna be the frontman? We'll do the Green Screen thing. I'm auditioning a couple models right now to be the "Nightmare Girl".
Thanks for ur insight TV. You guys are all correct, the mix is weak. It's actually a slightly beefed up wav file recorded in 1991. So it's just really a salvage job, Really just wanted to show you guys a my writing style and modest guitar talents.
I'll basically say I'm not a good producer. A lot of you guys are much better at mixing beats bass and samples. My gig is I come up with countless neat ideas and can play a pretty decent riff and power chord. Looking for collabs to help fix that. :-)
Totally agree with Shortbus. This is a very good new wave like tune, and if you could expand the stereo field bring the drums and bass up in the mix. This would be fantastic.
Really nice work here, especially on the guitars......the mix seems a bit "narrow" to me. I think you could widen it out a bit and really do this one some justice...but then again, I could just be nit picking, haha.
Just to respond to Cruce/EV/Short all together. Thanks for the kind kinds guys. I'm impressed by all of you work. You are all quite right - the mix is bad. It's what's left of an old track recorded in 1991. I suck at mixing - and this track was ancient technology. I'm sure I will do better with the new tech, but I would be more than happy if any of you guys like any of my tunes and would like to help me do them right. THE NEW WAVE GROUP has job openings!
What you guys will see eventually is I have a helluva knack for writing cool pop and rock tunes with very good lyrics. I can record a good power chord, a good acoustic, or a good riff if that's of use to anyone. Happy to. :-)
Working together, I think the talent on this site could do some magnificent work.

I see you get the joke Mr Merlin. Haha! Yes it's a comical song. I envision a video - some guy - maybe Johnny Bravo or that dude on Th Evil Dead - he's all suave and trying to romance this chick but too his dismay he finds he's not real - cut to stuck in the tv, melted into a puddle, rubber face - lotsa fun and silliness. And the in the end he's picked up by martians and flown away into the next dimension.
That's what New Wave is all about. High tech futuristic music mixed with a WB SCIFI comedy that kicks ass but doesn't take itself too seriously. :-)
AWEsome man. Loved the synths and the extended jam at the end =). Sometimes hard to hear your vocal/lyrics, but all in all sweet track. Great reworking.

Description : This is my newest creation, at a stage very near to completion. No third-party mastering or mixing, as with all my tracks. Just have to fix a few tiny things. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO MIX EVERYTHING IN THE SAME SESSION. This song has all human-played instruments - no quantization or MIDI! My brother does all the vocals except for the interlude part, which I do. My other brother plays the rhythm guitar (a Gibson Les Paul Custom - only one of 12 in the world!!) and I play the accompanying guitar (a Johnny Mar Jag and PRS). He has a lot of guitars :P A good friend of ours, Ronnie, plays the bass and another friend, Freddie, plays the drums. The drum track was done in one take (had to use an electric drum set due to time constraints - but acoustic kits are so much better). Overall, pretty satisfied with the result. Let me know your thoughts.
Description : Feel free to check out the lyrics video on YT as well :) This is a new track based on the great vocals by Ashes and Dreams! Again, a mix of electronic/progressive/rock, any feedback is welcome
Description : The first track I sing on. Cheap stage mic & no fancy plugins. Heavily guitar laden to the point it's got a bit of a shoegaze thing going on. I pulled the lyrics out of my ass & yes, they're a bit silly.
Description : This song was not supposed to be the fourth track of "Diverse waves", but it finally is. Anyway it's a rock oriented track with some interesting sounds. I hope you like it. Worked in zenbeats DAW, by Roland.
Description : BIG UPDATE 26/02/2014 - So, this was an 18 min track that I have now successfully split in two. 2nd half I uploaded a few weeks ago (Things That Should Always Be, with the bouncy 2 min reggae intro). This is the first half, which has a new mix, a mega chill, meditative ending and a little jazz thrown in for good measure. Takes a few minutes for beat to really kick in. Constantly evolving electric guitar, bass guitar, acoustic drums and lead banjo driven by fat, busy 80BPM grooves with a bit of a reggae and shuffle feel. Also: synth choir voices, dulcimer, violin, cello, shimmering pads. Builds up gradually to nice and rocking and then gets taken back down for the big comedown chill. I really don't know what sort of genre this is except 'far out'. I think it sounds more like a live band than one guy playing instruments and manipulating a DAW. Not my best track but a bit of blissful, sunny island fun. Real positive vibe here so I hope you give it a chance to unfold and unfurl. Sit back, clear your schedule and immerse yourself in these trippy sonic experiments cooked up deep in my off-planet underground laboratory. I have to send the MP3 to Earth via space courier (not cheap).
Description : This track was like the inhale after an exhale of aggressive industrial-electro-sludge tracks that I had put out that summer and fall. This was the more reserved, and introspective winter track. It's nothing spectacular, but I still really enjoy it. I hope you do too. Take care. V.
