Spivkurl 24K - Spivkurl

Name: Spivkurl 24K
Duration: 212 s
Channel: Spivkurl
Description: My latest effort! Kind of techno, with some synth-pop, and industrial. Got some more vocals this time. Hope you enjoy! Edit - Made a new mix today, because I realized I had some messed up EQ's and I backed off a little on the distortion. Enjoy! This track is included on the Spivkurl album "Labrynth Of Self".

I love yer krayzee New wave stylings Spiv. You do got a great voice and I think whether raw or processed - I guessed that's a matter of preference. Fun overall. You'd probably be perfect for my song Real World. Only problem is I don't have a version w/o lyrics.

regards.

Hey, thanks for stopping by! I'm pretty proud of this one because it was so spur of the moment. I'm experimenting with vocal effects more on this album, due to my obsession with Ohgr. I'll go listen to your song, I'm curious!

Let me get in on this. It is cool, I need to talk to you about how you did it. I am up for learning a little more, not too much because my brain is full now. Like the beat, the vocals (mysterious) and the feel of it. Vic

Spivkurl replied 8th Sep 2013 - 13 years ago

Hey friend thanks for taking a listen! Some of these lyrics were written quite a while ago, and I was messing about with the Cyclop synthesizer making a sonically rich and rhythmical patch, I adjusted the tempo a little and realized it would be a great backing for the lyrics. So I wrote the chorus and went with it! The beat I think was mainly composed of pretty standard drum samples. The vocals were pretty spontaneous, and worked pretty well. Interesting you call them mysterious, that makes sense. Each section of the song has a different FX chain, except of course repeated in verses and choruses. The feel of it is hard to pin down, I think the mastering has a lot to do with it. I appreciate you leaving a comment!

Spiv, man...you are the master of your game! This is unique and at the same time reminiscent of Talking Heads (IMO). I really dig it. Good job!

Love & Light,

Mykael

Hey, friend, thanks so much! I love Talking Heads, so I take that as a compliment! I really appreciate you listening!

I like the song. Obviously it's my genre of music. I'll be brutally honestly to help you improve. I like your voice, but the singing is a bit raw. Sounds like the lyrics are actually a little hard to sing. Perhaps a little production on the vocals would smooth out. Don't take this critique hard man - I'm no Freddie Mercury either. I do like the style. Thanks for sharing. I'm gonna add you to my list of interesting musicians.

Spivkurl replied 4th Sep 2013 - 13 years ago

Thanks for taking a listen to my song, and welcome to the site! Actually in comparison to my other new songs, this one is pretty easy to sing, and it was done in one day. The spontaniety of it is what I like. I'm curious about what kind of additional production you would like to hear on the vocals? I usually like pretty raw vocals, but in this case there was a decent chain of effects going on. I appreciate the support!

nice fast weird haunted tempo, with little electric insects (how i called them, joy to listen to, by the way love the lyrics

Spivkurl replied 4th Sep 2013 - 13 years ago

Hey, thanks much for the kind review! I'm glad you liked the lyrics, it's some old and some new, but I think they worked together. Take it easy!

Awesome track as usual! :)
There's so much I could say about this but what struck me most is those vocal effects. I've never been good at that kind of stuff but if I could do whatever you did to get that effect I might actually consider making my own vocals lol.

Spivkurl replied 1st Sep 2013 - 13 years ago

Hey, thanks for listening friend! I'm glad you like the vocal effects, I tried a few different things before I landed on this configuration. You should try doing vocals maybe!

StrikingDaggers 31st Aug 2013 21:21 - 13 years ago

Great track Spivkurl! The beat is tight and the vocals take the whole track up another couple notches. Just awesome to listen too. I have always enjoyed your unique style. The production sound good too. Nice work.
