on Are You Ready - Original Mix by DjAvad
It has great production values and interesting lead ins, but to me sounds like 2 completely different songs being mixed in and out One melodic, and one a killer bass, electro-deep house sound with dissonant scales. If you are using this as an intro song it won't stun the floor as it goes back and forth and people will take that as a perfect time to go get a drink. maybe remix this with the awesome intro build with the dissonant bass sounds, build to a climax, then the breakdown is the beginning of the melodic sound which you build back up and then add to it more bass and effects. Otherwise great potential

Thanks for your feedback, this is the reason why I want ASAP feedback so I can change my track so it is perfect for that night.

on Wonderful - Feat Patricia Edwards by DrvanLansberg
I love the sounds you have created and the spacial mixing is awesome, I do agree the intro is a bit long. This is clearly a futuristic jazz vision. great work

DrvanLansberg replied 7th Oct 2013 - 12 years ago
That might just be a little too much honor. I just like producing jazzy stuff, no vision here :-). Like decorating a house, just choose the items you like.

Thanks for the compliments!

Much much better. I love the drums. Even the piano was made to be softer in the mix, bravo. nice use of phase effects at the end, also much more compressed sound.

on SOAP Chris feat Carole Sous l etoile du soir by janis71
Ahh Carole's voice is sublime on this. The song-writing is very good as well. I could see the mixing be a little wider in the stereo field. The voice is a little too much forward in the mix. This is an amazing song and with a little TLC could be over the top. I love the crickets at the end which invoke an august night-time scene. Great job!

janis71 replied 20th Sep 2013 - 12 years ago
Hi Steve,
And thanks for your postive review :D
I really don't know much about mixing _ don't even know what TLC stands for, haha _ so I'm "passing the mic" to Chris :)
Happy you enjoyed it,
Cheers

I am trying to imagine what kind of vox you would want for this. Nice tune though. love the chord mix at 1:23

there could be heaps of different vox used with this.. from girlish singing to a big rapping black guy :)

on Real World Version 2 by TheNewWaveGroup
Totally agree with Shortbus. This is a very good new wave like tune, and if you could expand the stereo field bring the drums and bass up in the mix. This would be fantastic.

on Dark Sky by Spivkurl
Depeche Mode meets, early Human League (Before Dare), John Fox....very very good, I want to enhance these drums and make a killer dance remix of this! (BTW...the syncopation of the vocals is perfect for this style of music)

Thanks for the comparison to good artists! Yeah the Zoom RT-123 has some kind of old school drum sounds, but I like to go back and use it every now and then. Thanks for your support!

on Pieces Ft Devyn Rose REMIX by SeriouslyJoking
Reminds me of the chord changes of the ATB tune Your not alone. very eclectic work from you! And I see your developing your FL piano style. 2:58 is not out of tune per say but just in the wrong key. Has potential though!
Steve
SeriouslyJoking
SeriouslyJoking replied 10th Sep 2013 - 12 years ago
Hello Steve!
I loved that ATB tune and the Olive version even more! Just listened to it after so many years when I saw your comment. Thanks for bringing all these epic old tunes back to my ears!

Oh, so it's the wrong key at 2:58! I'll look in to that, that part really gave me some headaches...maybe I'll removed it alltogether.
Thank you Steve for listening and giving advice!!
Have a nice day over there.

on Gave You away by topvega
down n dirty this sound is. I could see you expanding this tune. By kicking ass like this tune does, then bring the verse down to just drums and a bass line (like the pixies used to do) then blast us in the chorus with this guitar sound, all along with a stone roses like vocal, then you would have one hell of a song!

topvega replied 9th Sep 2013 - 12 years ago
Thanks bro... Appreciate the kind words. I agree with your ideas and when I track down the master I am going to try and implement them. If I can't find them I will re-record this and work them in. Thanks again for listening and leaving a comment.

on Liftoff RedZone Productions by Pippa777
Very creative, I have to agree with Mr Wolf that this seems a bit like a huge intro into something big. If you made a sister song called say "Flight to ---(something)--- that was high energy. And then a Chillout piece called (I don't know... )"Taking it all in", and then a final mad scramble piece called "The journey home" You would have a very nice 4 part electronic suite that would mirror the old formats of classical suites.
Just an idea ;-)

I dont think I could creatively stand making 4 pieces all the same tho, I would get too bored of it. This was more a one off, huge intro or not haha

on Lies ft Kae Furious and KCentric by SeriouslyJoking
Most interesting chord structures in the first 45 seconds, then I agree with Danke the tune lifts off at the :45 mark. love the bass and the chords and the vox here. With your permission I might want to tinker with this one as I have an idea for a drum sound that will kick this tune even higher, what is the B.P.M.?

SeriouslyJoking
SeriouslyJoking replied 4th Sep 2013 - 12 years ago
Hi Steve - please do!
The bpm is 84 (but I originally went down from 130bpm somehow...nothing really worked and this is what was left of it.)
I can do a version without drums also if it helps.

Thanks!

It's interesting, and you are right the vocals do fit, I would like to see a kick-ass beat (maybe syncopated?) over the jangly synths and piano stabs. Keep at it your on to something here.

Finally a comment!! Thank you Steve! =D
The drums are always really tricky for me, I almost never manage to make my own drums, it just doesn't work. So I'm going to seek some other drumloops to fit in then.

Maybe some changes in the melody also, it gets really boring after a short listen...

(Or then I'll leave this as it is - it's just one of those failures. Nobody is commenting which means it's probably no good. Ha ha ...moving on...)
Thank YOU for listening and commenting!
