He had a really good blues jam mix to do his thing with Joe... good Sunday afternoon entertainment and a couple of laughs to go along with it...keep that bugger over there...we dont want him loose on this side of the water (but if he escapes, send some of that music with him).....cheers...Ed
I will see what i can do but this guy is extreme creative ...
And right now i dont know where he is. But i think in canada you are save. It´s for sure to cold for this guy over there.
If i hear any about some canada vacation, i will inform you quickly :)
That transition to the last section (around 2:00) is great Carole...but so is the whole performance....So good to hear that talented voice of yours again...its been a long while....Bravo..Ed
Hello Ed,
So good to get back here... Far from the surrounding dirt. Erm...
I just wanted to try singing that beauty of the gipsy folklore. The music around is crap, nothing compared to what true musicians like you, Behnam, Bear and loads of others here are able to do.
Music and true love are the only treasures on earth to me now.
I've missed you and the fam...
Hug and kiss.
You just provided me with one of the strongest reminders I have had in a long time of why I find the real creativity that my mind seeks on LM and like places that offer a musical forum for the real stuff....superb bit of musical art guys...love that fretless Dave...but the whole damn thing is just so good..and I like the passage of time vibe...I find myself paying attention to everything thats going on (and the production makes that an easy task)...bravo.....and I`m smiling cause I realize I can still get that experience most of have had that confirms what remains possible when musicians get together..(aint been on my radio for ever)....Ed
Hey Ed..thanks buddy, like you I hardly ever listen to radio these days, well the commercial side of it anyway.....I guess relics like Zappo and myself (and you! lol)tend to live in the past experience wise and all I've got to say to that is thank God! (or whatever appropriate deity),there is obviously some great contemporary music being made in the world but it's hidden from the mainstream,we were so lucky to grow up listening to proper music! haha...thanks again mate ,be over to your page..like right now!..cheers Dave :)
that is some great keyboard work Scott..like the stand-up bass..I`m not familiar with the original but I certainly can hear the amount of detailed and talented work that went into this mix...I could get into this style very easily (even though I haven`t been exposed to much of it in the past...its the kind of music that seems to draw your attention to each instrument as it does it part...great job on this Scott...much respect....Ed
Thanks so much, Ed. I appreciate all your kind words and glad you like it. Since you like it, maybe you would like to check out more. Here's the whole album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoPyLJTN7ss It is fantastic and my track is nowheres near as good.
I think its all been said Spiv....and by people much better informed to comment than this ol boy....you seem to have gained the uniqueness that many artists would strive for...and its the kind of thing that demands attention from those who absorb the intricicies of what you do...Its really interesting listening....a tip o the hat to you....Ed
From you Ed, this comment was a pleasure to read! I feel like I'm only scratching the surface at this point, especially considering the rising tide of obstacles that I have been contending with. I chose this life long ago though, so who am I to complain. Either way, it made me happy to hear from you on this song, so thank you!
Hey Eighteen.....this is really creative stuff...makes me appreciate places like Looperman where we can listen to innovation and the kind of non-commercial creativity that the radio never lets us hear... the vocals/choirs are on steroids....that bass is nuts....different in the best of ways.....a tip of the hat to you....keep doing it..Ed.
Nice of you to drop by :)
I too hate all that commercial crap on the radio you get bombed with constantly.
Anyhoo thanks for ur kinds words, and I like that u like the track so much xD I did my best , and I usually focus to make my tracks to be as far away from sounding commercial-like as possible.
I see I missed this one (and a lot of other favs) while I was out playing in the sun...I`m thinking you were having some fun doing this one...when our first little guitar band was done I recall playing with my Brother`s group and they had a keyboard player...what a difference it makes...a lot more versatility/options...but I could never talk my fellow players away from covers & into something more creative..so its a nice treat to listen to the result when two musicians travelling different roads get something together...Just a nice cruising kind of vibe that carries you along with it...good listening out my way TG....great stuff....Ed
Thanks...Ed...
As you can tell I like to push myself at times, doing things that
make me stop and think for a moment...
Just trying to play in a simple format, can change the way you
think about Music...
I don't try to be perfect anymore, just having fun with grooves
that feel good to me...And are road worthy... :-)
I`m glad I got off that motorcycle jamid...I had jumped on behind the girl but there was nowhere she would let me put my hands when I was trying to hang on so I jumped of again.....it is a tragic ending and a sad day but for the slim hope that she will indeed leap from the back of that hearse...Man...you really nailed the whole vibe here...a fine listen and I have nothing to add that would be helpful at this time...great job jamid...Ed
Hello Ed,
Boy am I glad you got off earlier, even though you wear enjoying yourself-grabbing two perfectly formed lemons on you hand.
“hope that she will indeed leap from the back of that hearse.”
With, Silverman behind wheel of the hearse and the way his driving?
I won’t be surprised if she gets up and start running.
I am glad you liked it.
Thanks again for your kind feedback
Jamid
really like the intro and the build up to the big power that follows...really epic...carries the dramatic yet suspenseful vibe really effectively...I began to appreciate orchestral music (and the use of string sections) quite early on in my listening exerience so its always seemed impressive to me...you did it really well on this one EYEDYE...usually the cellos can carry enough bass without anything else but I noted E.Rs comment on bass...It might be a bit challenging to fit in with the low strings but if you give it a shot, maybe try a very low subby type bass with a short sustain so it doesnt wash into that frequency range above 100hz or so too much...I think your low strings/cellos? are centered somewhere around 160 but my ears aren`t as trustworthy as they used to be.....I like it as it is though & really enjoyed the listen...a very impressive bit of musical work...I wouldn`t want to discourage you taking a shot at vocal additions but its stands well on its own too....well done...Ed
Hello Tumble, good to hear from you :) Im glad you really enjoyed this one. I also usually carry the bass with strings alone, but I may just add an actual bass really low underlaying, just to give it that very final 'full" feel. Im not sure honestly where they are centered at though. Thanks again for stoppin :)
its picture painting mind bending good stuff Neomorpheus....I was at some after-parties a few decades ago where we would have just put this on repeat play and listened for the rest of the night....fantastic bit of musical art....I could listen to a lot of music like this...thanks....Ed
Haha, I can relate to those kind of after parties Ed !
So glad to hear that this makes sense to some. As always, good to get your feedback and I'm very thankful for the kind words.
I`m just jumping on behind her and figuring out where I should hold on...haha....really like that section that kicks in somewhere around 2:30...nice prog....way to go silverman...a fine ride much enjoy...Ed
I had great fun making this one but I'm discovering the more engineering goes in the shorter the piece has to be.
This was around two minutes longer with a very slow and soft beginning that warmed up revved up and then accelerated into what you hear now.
I'm surprised seeing as some of my stuff is around eight minutes long ... not any more it would seem.
Half three in the morning here and I'm wide awake!
Thanks for letting me tag along Pat....some of the finest key & sax playing I have ever had the privilege of playing along with...look forward to the next one whenever it may be....You should do a couple of reviews/comments on other tracks & get this one bumped over to the Featured track pages....Thanks again...Ed
the journey is too picturesque and interesting for me to sleep to this one Orlando...you are indeed a master of painting musical pictures for the mind....superb piece of art here...as usual....Ed
Hey, my friend....glad you're back after some time! I hope you
will be soon presenting some new material here on LM!
Thank you so much for another positive and supportive feedback
and I have to tell you that I can't really compose proper lullabies, so you guys will need some stronger stuff to put you in sleep...)
Hi TG...I`ve been away from the music for a while (the good wife may have to phone the cookie truck to come & get me soon)...but stopped by for a quick listen and just had to log in to leave you a big well done on this one....nice backing and the guitar is sounding real smoooth...its all good...I`ll just take it for a spin ...comes with a smile.....keep on....Ed
Every now and then you've got to do, what your soul tells you to...
Other wise you miss the whole point, of being alive...
Sometimes you just have to slow down enough, so the wind can catch
up with you, if you don't you will never hear what it brings with it...
And it's always something New...
Once again thanks for taking the time, She rides well...
If I were having a bad day I would just need to stop by and listen to this...or any of your tracks...and things would be o.k.....there have been rumours of peace here and there but I`m not sure all the tribes on our wee planet have ever been totally at peace with the rest...perhaps some will listen to this and be helped on their way to finding peace...just a great track Orlando....I am away from the music for a while but just had to stop by for a listen.....Ed
Welcome ,Ed....as first I wish you as least bad days as possible and second I have to say thank you again for your continuous support....I hope you won't be away for long...I miss so many people of the old guard here on LM (Vicky, Mark, Anubis etc.).
ant4505...having a plan for the music project...the composition ideas...the arrangement, instrumentation, an how it will come together & sound in the end etc always pays off ...I am not a good example of that for I just compose to have something to play guitar to most of the time and am not very patient.....good for you....it sounds like an interesting project...keep it going...it always pays to take the time...Ed
I definitely like it Stacey...nice job on your vocals and harmonies...you have the vocals and accompaniment fitting together really well....great sounding piano by cellofficial....what did you use for the drums...I like the natural sound of the kit....great job.......Ed
Thanks so much Ed! I really appreciate it! The drums are actually just a kit I used off of garageband! :) Yes, cellofficial did a great job with the piano. I couldn't help but use his loops!! :) Thanks again for the comments! Take care!
You have indeed found a really big talent in Lisa Richie..really like the keys too (I think this may be the first track of yours I have listened to where the keys are the instrumental focus...man they sound good...warm & fat)..the quiet organ bit works better that a pad would have considering the rest of the arrangement..production is all pro...you and Lisa can take a well-deserved bow after this one...I`m clapping....Ed
Always good to hear from you. I hope everything goes well in your life.
Yes, Lisa is a real find and a very talented singer (actress and screen writer too). We have plans to start writing some original material in the very near future.
The keys are simply a patch from Logic X and you're dead right. It's not often I produce a track with no guitars on it. There are two pianos (the electric rhodes sounds plus the acoustic grand piano) plus the hammond style organ so not a great deal of room for much else. I decided to leave it as it was and let it "breathe" a bit.
I will pass your kind comments on to Lisa too. She will be really pleased. Thanks again.
you really nailed the situation you describe jamid...I like the mix of emotional and the light/higher sounds and the way your composition conveys the sadness without being overpowering down...like the ending idea (although I think I would have left dead silence right after the gun shot)..nice job on the mix too....enjoyed the listen...a big well done to you...Ed
Hello Ed,
Many thanks for your warm and motivating comment.
Usually it is an achievement to have a comment from a fellow producer but to have a brilliant comment especially from you it is an honour.
I am glad you enjoyed it.
As regard to the ending my wife had a same idea as yours I think I am convinced now to change it.
Thanks again
Jamid
much has already been said about this one Orlando...and rightly so...it is indeed exceptional...epic....inspirational....cinematic..thoughtfully composed...expertly arranged...and masterfully played...besides, the production is top notch too....I think that about covers it and thats my honest opinion my friend...Ed
Thank you so much my friend for another supportive comment!
You can imagine how hungry of making music I was after that long blackout and I think now I'm much closer to the former strenghts with this composition. I'm glad you have so much positive to say about it....I always trust your opinion!:)
Also big thanks for the 'fav'...truly appreciated!
Hey Static...just stopping back at your place a minute with a further word of thanks for the helpful info on that mix I had posted...Had a little time to solo & analyse the tracks this afternoon...To my great surprise a majority of the issues were with a string pad track (that would usually be about the last place I would have expected)...I have had a stern chat with myself and am now lashing myself about the head and shoulders with a wet noodle....Will update my Sound Cloud version if I find time to remix....In the mean time I`ll have another listen to this one....thanks again...Ed
Audio pops piss me off no end so I'm happy to point them out and have done so a good few times in Looperman reviews. They're really inexcusable (to me) in my music so I have to get rid of them as they're pure sonic errors.
I'm currently working on a dual female vocal track and have spent the last couple of mornings removing loads of audio pop edits. The embarrassing thing for me is that I made the track four years ago (just doing an update now) and I cannot work out why the hell I didn't remove all of them at the time. I can't believe I couldn't notice them and you know what I'm like for scrutinising details.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that sometimes people can miss these seemingly obvious errors in their own work so no one should fear pointing them out.
Interesting that Orlando pointed out those errors in your track (though without any time references) but he couldn't hear the audio pops that I pointed out in his most recent track. People have said to me before that it might be something to do with Looperman/web playback but I'm not so sure. I can only go on what I hear, especially when I play it back a few times and the pop is in exactly the same place as before.
I see you have some very in-depth commentary on just about everything to do with this one Static...so there is little an old guitar guy could add that would be at all informative..Having played bass for a few years, the bass grooves you have going here are welcome music to my ears...can`t imagine you doing anything boring (even if you never changed key) and have to admire your attention to detail, not only in instrumentation but in the way the arrangement evolves...I do like the power drums and the outro leaves me with an oh yeah feeling...You do it well and I enjoyed being a listener...much respect to you....Ed
I never know quite what people will pick out from my tracks as interesting to them. Either favourite parts or areas for improvement. My stuff is so dense that there's so much that could be chosen though I don't mind hearing multiple times that a particular section was a highlight. Some bits just do stand out as being high points, as much as you try to raise the quality of everything else.
Yes, there are some decent grooves in the lead bass work though the anchoring stuff is all done by synth bass. Lead bass intentionally doesn't have any low end and is functioning much more as guitar in this. Unusual but it's the kind of thing Evisma does a lot, which is why this track is dedicated to him. Doesn't sound at all like his music but it's not supposed to - there's just the lead bass connection.
"have to admire your attention to detail"
That truly is how I make almost all my music as I don't plan this stuff out beforehand. I jam, see what I get and closely scrutinize and edit parts and then get inspired to add more and more.
Quite often, the attention to detail is me just fixing stuff that's not working properly. Then, in doing the fix, I come up with something creative and have to include that and that's one of a good few reasons for my tracks being so long. I just keep stretching out what I've already got. I love to try to get the most out of the parts I've recorded though often have to start a new track so that things don't end up being 20 mins or more.
"the outro leaves me with an oh yeah feeling"
That's a good way to sign off. I'm not entirely happy with the very final ending but it's a nice enough return to the start of it all so I guess it will do.
Really like this one X...I really wouldn`t suggest you do much if anything to it...the minimal approach really works...everything sounds nice and clear...its the kind of easy listening stuff that just leaves you with a smile (I`ve been cluttering the hell out of my mixes lately...so I`m paying attention to what you have hear)...Its good listening over my way...really well done..Fav....Ed
The V strikes again....I gotta send a link on this one to our oldest Son...he`s in film production & has been into horror since he was a wee boy....you`ve got the whole vibe nailed Aaron.....no hope of mercy here...the wasteland is unforgiving...and what lives there unimaginable....and this is the soundtrack from the neighbourhood that resides at its edge....holy #####...you`re good at it....Ed
Ed, How've you been, Mister? I hope everything is well up there.
If your son is into horror, then he'll probably recognize the vocal sample right away! Maybe even the opening sound effect, as well.
I think it's because of my love for horror since I was just a kid, too, that helps me capture that dark vibe.
"....holy #####...you`re good at it...."
Heheh. Thank you, sir. I take that as a great compliment!
Good to hear from you. I'll be heading over to your page to check out any tracks that I've missed while I've been out. I'm pretty far behind on a few different people.
Thanks again, Ed. It's always a pleasure.
Take care.

I never listened to much Techno until I signed in with Looperman..and I have to admit I have been really getting to like some of it...so I`m blaming that on you (and a couple of others) silverman..haha....very cool track that I`m enjoying a whole lot...I sure couldn`t offer any useful advice on the genre & you obviously dont need any...really well done....Ed
