Interesting interpretation of a butterfly Dan. I've never looked a butterfly and thought of it as ever being aggressive or industrious but I suppose at some time it has to go about his butterfly world taking the good as well as the bad.
The drum part at the beginning I thought of as it's tiny heart beating and starting it's day. Then comes the stress and tension of the daily life of a butterfly, fighting winds, looking for a bite to eat and avoiding bug zappers.
I can see industrious - but aggressive - maybe in somebody's horror movie. and maybe this could be some music for that. thanks for the great comment, wayne. great to hear from you. regards - Dan
Hey Dave! As Pluto was demoted from the planet status a few years ago I found it interesting how you were going to represent a new ninth planet. The intro was pretty cool, some spacey distortion set a mood right away. I thought I might hear more synths than real instruments but the guitars were a cool thought and well played. The synths didn't overpower the mix and added some neat textural elements. This is the kind of music I like to listen to when painting or doing odd jobs around the homestead.
Hey Wayne how's it going buddy. yeah I was going for an ambient feel and I know exactly what you mean by music to 'do' things by. I'd even be happy if it were played in elevators! lol..thanks for dropping by mate I'll be over on your page soon, I really should tune in some Saturday over at Mixposure but I'm always doing stuff it seems..I will make it over for sure sometime soon!..cheers mate Dave :)
Hey, sorry I missed this one when you posted it, must have been during one of my blackouts! hehe Sounds like a piece from a Stanley Kubrick film, especially the first half.
I've never been to the desert and have always wanted to go. I get an ocean sunrise every day so I imagined that instead. The second half had sort of an Asian feel with the plucked instruments. I did get the feeling of discovery, a new day dawning even though there seemed to be some darker moments or tension in there as well.
Cool piece Orlando, it's open to many interpretation and it seems to be a hit as well!
Many thanks for this positive feedback! I'm on a very tight schedules lately so my new material will have to wait for a while to be uploaded, so I decided to give some more exposure to some oldies in the meantime and so I picked this one for no particularly good reason apart from the fact that it wasn't played too extensively before..:) Also thanks alot for faving it !:)
Absolutely faaantatstic!! Where did you get the vocal track? The vocals are tremendous, really! This is a very professional sounding track and I could hear this on top 40 radio.
How many mics do you have on your drums when you record them? You always get a solid sound.
Dl and a fav , so thanks to both of you for sharing!! Always a pleasure man!
Thanks so much Wayne. Your comment really humbles me, sir.
The vocals were in a collection I found a while back. They were broken up in short line, so I just put them together to form the lyrics. I, than, worked the instruments around them.
For my drum tracks I use an Alesis electronic drum kit: http://www.alesis.com/products/legacy/dm10-studio-kit and record my tracks on a Tascam digital recorder. I can get whatever drum sound needed. My acoustic kit these days is for display only!
Lots of emotion in the vocal performance, very powerful. You matched the vox with the music very well. The vocals sound a bit loud in there in spots, that's an easy fix. Gotta hand it to you for not holding back!
Very cool intro which led me into a funky laid back groove. I would say it also is a bit r n b and soul, I could hear Daryl Hall singing on this.
The guitar sounds nice, I've never heard of it so I will have to check it out online. Sounds like a PRS a little. Solid track sets a certain mood with the solid groove and almost hypnotic guitar with some neat effects.
When does your tour start? You guys sound like a live band jamming. Vocals always add to a track, that was good to hear. Seasoned pros having fun, always a pleasure folks!
I have never heard this song before, it's a nice pop song. I don't listen to the radio much. I can't imagine the original being much better! I am enjoying the way you are mixing your vocals now and I must say your performance is fantastic. I noticed the words are well pronounced and clean, you paid a lot of attention to detail with the vocals.
Your neighbors are fortunate you don't play the drums. ;)
I couldn't help but laugh at phatkatz4's comment, ha!
Very cool production, all the pieces of the puzzle perfectly fell into place. The introduction is built up nicely then the guitar takes the track in a different direction. A good variety of changes and some cool effects like the delay you used on some of the loops. I like it! I am going to dl this so thanks!
Honestly, I couldn't tell you one thing about electro so I am going to comment on how I felt about it. I came away with a feeling that this track could be used as a cinematic piece. The constant pulsing of that note reminded me of a heartbeat or a machine in a hospital that monitors your heartbeat. I could hear this in a cyber thriller type movie during a chase scene as there seems to be a feeling of tension or excitement.
Powerful track man, mean, nasty, thick and heavy headbanger's music. I would try to cut down on some of the loudness by adjusting compression or limiter you have on either the tracks themselves or on the master track to give the track some breathing room and make it a little easier on the ears. There is some ass kicking music happening and with a few adjustments this could sound even better.
Made me think of ice crystals forming on a window on a frosty winter morning. The wind blows the light fluffy snow in every direction as you quickly scrape the ice off your car windows hoping your car starts in the frigid temps. I don't miss those days one bit but we did get frost the other day.
I liked your last track as well, similar concept and just as interesting and can be interpreted many ways.
Yes, I agree...it's a similar concept as the previous one
with a bit more versatile palete of instruments and sounds.
I really like your alternative imagination that the track evokes for you and it's absolutely true that it can be interpreted in many ways.
Thank you so much for listening and for this friendly fedback...and the 'fav' ofcourse...means the world!:)
Pretty slick track. The vocals work together well. The synths you used add a lot of interest but they aren't overdone. Pretty catchy tune and a great collab, keep doing these man!
Whats popin Wayne, glad your feelin this track these are some of my favorite rappers on this site i think it worked out well meshing them together..I appreciate you listening and commenting ..thanks
Very nice piece of music. Some cool dynamics that are impactful, an interesting collection of instruments and a clever idea made me enjoy this one. It's simple and interesting. Well done!
Very calming piece of music. Dig the guitar, subtle early on but shines like a beacon in the light in the second half. Nice changes throughout the song. A bit ethereal, spacy and dreamlike feeling to the track. The vocals suit the piece of music, some nice effects on them, the guitar and the overall piece.
Once I read the lyrics I had to laugh. This one rocks and i like music with an attitude. How are you processing your bass? The middle part is a little less rockin but it stays within the context of the song, badassery.
Mix sounds good, I can hear all the instruments separate in the mix. Rock on dude!!
Same as always. Line 6 pedal, it gets compression, very light chorus and a digital delay, then into the interface and DAW. The biggest thing is that I record EVERYTHING twice, getting each line right twice, then panning them. I never duplicate something and pan it, it's always a separately recorded line. That is what gives it such a full sound. I hear SO much bass guitar that sounds like it was a D.I. feed that just got dumped in the middle of the mix. Tool's "46 & 2" grabbed me by the chest when I first heard it. It really made me feel like the bass was the most powerful and colorful instrument.
The middle is a bit more calm, but I felt the bombastic flankings needed a separation.
This is pretty cool, such an awesome vibe here. The lyrics are simple, to the point and tells a good story that the listener can absorb themselves in and feel the same emotions the singer is. Mix is great, the "pings" at the beginning set the stage, the drums were nicely mixed I dig the effects on them. Vocals sit real nice and give the song a hauntingly eerie, deep in the ocean sound.
Very well put together on all levels of songwriting and production.
Thank you very much for your kind words. I'm glad you liked the introduction, I didn't want to stroll right into the main theme and not have context. It felt right to build it up.
Pretty solid sounding track. The bones are there, some might say. Reminds me of The Church's "Under The Milky Way Tonight" the way the acoustic is played and the overall flow of the song. Like everyone else, some proper vocals will be the icing on this one!
Happy anniversary dude! One year here and you're still sane? lol Great loops, too!
Haha thank heavens I am sane :D Had to make a few trips to the hospital for my nervous breakdowns. They told me it was a case of LMS, or LooperMan Syndrome. :P
Damn man, this is impressive! A quality piece of music and production Scott. I don't think I have ever heard this song before but I may go check it out on youtube to hear how Dizzy played it on the horn. He was fun to watch play as well.
The piano is extremely well played and a nice tone to it. Is is real or a plugin? Drums are perfect, I can hear all the parts of the kit, toms sound great and I dig the rim shots. How many mics on the kit and where did you place them, just curious?
Fine job, as usual, you are having a good year so far. I will thank you for the dl!
I've been working on a dixieland type style with some rock thrown in for a few months. This one is more authentic though. I am a fan of dixieland and have a few greatest hits cd's. It's energetic and full of power.
You really managed to put this song in a specific time period, great job with the arrangement and instrument selection and performance. The horns are great and the banjo sounds cool as well. Way cool vocals and crowd noise.
Thanks so much, Wayne. I really appreciate your kind words. I look forward, and will be watching for your Dixieland track. Your music is very creative and I always click on it when I see it.
Some cool changes of pace, certainly pretty creative use of the loops. I have come to expect that from you. The mix sounds pretty good as well. I liked the acoustic guitar loops and the sax sounding lead you used in the middle of the song was a nice touch.
Glad I listened to this, nice groove! The horns are fantastic, you don't hear a muted horn used much here. Feels like I am sitting in a smokey club listening to a band play. Well done man, excellent job!
Nice track smallpaul! I miss mosaic posting this kind of quality music. Lots of energy, cool piano and a mighty fine mix. I liked the vocals, just enough with some nice effects on them and throughout the entire song. I don't claim to know much about this style of music but I know this sounds damn good to me!
Hi mate thanks for listening and commenting. Yes Mosaic was a big Trance enthusiast, I am currently re doing the mix on this track tacking into account some comments on the beat etc, will repost when i am happy with it. Thanks again.
I don't know what gravity falls is either. Have you ever tried doing 8bit chiptune cover songs of big hits? Could be kind of fun to hear. It's different short and clever!

Thanks a lot for your kind words. This is a favorite jazz piece, in which I've done this and another big band version done a couple years ago.
The drums are done with my Alesis electronic kit. It's much easier than trying to get a good sound out of my acoustic kit. That would be a nightmare!
