Very cool from the first seconds! Has your signature epic nature to it! I too am obsessed with growing things and nurturing any sort of natural presence. It feels good when I realize that I am not along in this. Thank you for creating this, and spreading more good feelings! Very bold tune! Love it! Fave!

Great to hear from you Patrick.
Yes we can learn a lot from nature, and in the end nature has so much more to teach us. Nature has no agenda, only humans do!
Keep being true to yourself Patrick.
There is only one of you, and when you're gone, there is no more.
May God give you peace and wisdom.
Blessings - Billy.

Hey, sorry for taking a while to get back to with the respect, but this is an extremely cool track. It's not usually the sort of thing which is my DOC, but the mix and melodies are infectious and special. It's a great arrangement, with all the pop sensibilities! I liked the lyrical suggestion by "Format" earlier in the comments, as it did have a natural "planted" feeling to it. Very cool, reminded me a bit of Savant or something. Enjoyed it! Fave!

Very cool piece, with a very cinematic feel to it. I found that I was able to hear the details well, which is very cool. I'm quickly losing my focus at the moment, but I really enjoyed hearing this. Thank you for sharing it!

on GoldenOokami SaturdayNight - Diskonnect Remix by Diskonnect
I'm so out of touch with online things lately, that I keep coming across remixes of this song without paying attention to the actual thread. I've enjoyed the ones I've heard, and this one is quite chill and "freeing." Soft tones, and good grooves. Has your style all over it, but it keeps with the theme. Pleasant all the way through. Man, it's good to take a moment and re-connect! Thank you for sharing this! Fave!

Oh man, I haven't heard something with this style in too long, and it is so fresh at the same time! Very present and real, and I'm lovin it! I have to ask, did you do any vocal recordings of yourself in this? Either way, I'm tempted to ask if I can do some sort of remix. I'm on a major protest/nature/chemical high right now, but I usually am. I really dig what you are doing here. Just what I needed to hear today. Fave!

Very interesting piece you have made! I really don't seem to have any reference when it comes to what you have done here, which I think is a great thing! Never heard anything quite like it, at least that I remember. Very deep arrangement, and the mix sounds nice to my ears. At first I thought it was loud, but then the mix brought everything together, and the result was so balanced. I did seem to notice some clipping in the intro, and maybe later, but it seemed confined to a specific track in the mix, maybe a recorded hardware instrument? Did not take away from the amazing track though! Expresses a modern urban landscape for me very well. I love the synthetic effects you used sparingly, so effective! Massive favorite!

on PUNK song no vocals by Deathbot
Hey, this is pretty sweet! I'm getting vibes of some cool eighties/nineties groups from this, such as social distortion or rancid, both of whom I like to listen to. Do you have ideas for a lyrical theme which you wish to portray? Very fun and cool song! I enjoyed it!
Deathbot
Deathbot replied 25th Jun 2016 - 9 years ago
I do have some lyrics but I'm not married to them .The first lines come in straight away, " do you believe that nothing really matters , do you believe in thought control?" So I was thinking a big brother/ distractions kinda theme. I'm quite happy to rearrange the music if need be.

Man, I can't tell you how much of inspiring force you are for my, and I'm sure others! This is so pleasing, and unlike anything I hear, or have heard, made by anyone else! It seems especially personal to me, as I've been with my Love for 22 years now. Maybe some similar experiences are inspiring us? Either way, it's an amazing and original song! So good! Fave!

on Used to be HIPHOP by Planetjazzbass
What could it be about your music that always makes me want to pick up a bass? ... as if I didn't know... that bass sound is so sweet! I've been listening to the Miami Vice soundtrack on cassette lately while renovating my second studio, and this really does belong on there! I never realized how much ahead of it's time music ended up on there! Anyway, I love the old school crime theme blended with hip hop style. Your bass is, as always, the icing on the cake! Super cool track! Fave!

Hey Pat thanks mate! I guess all those old television sound tracks get imprinted over the years and finally come out years later (albeit warped and twisted) like the effluvia from a slow moving glacier. Second studio sounds cool man you'll have to post some pics, thanks for listening mate, all the best Dave :)

on I Love You But I Cannot Live With You by Bindanox
Damn, that is an intense sound you've achieved. Feeling it in my spine! It has some sadness in their, and maybe some hopeful feelings, at least to me. Reminds me of some recent New Order work in a way... if you haven't heard "Music Complete" yet, it's totally amazing. Those strings especially sound quite eighties influenced. Cool harmonies going on! This could be quite a song with some lyrics/vocals. Really enjoyed listening to this! Fave!

Bindanox replied 24th Jun 2016 - 9 years ago
Thanks Patrick.
Wow,that's some review.
Yes,the track was inspired actually on my brother.Maybe it's where some of the sadness you mentioned came. That you can see someone that is really in love and wants to live together and move foward and the other don't want that because...well,freedom.
I like some bands and music from the 80s and i feel its a fair comparison.

I wish i had the voice and do a bit of singing on top.

Thank you for taking the time.

on Spivkurl I Fall Down Bindanox Remix by Bindanox
I really enjoyed hearing this remix! I think you used the stems in a unique way throughout. The selection and layering of the vocal stems is especially cool to my ears! Your addition at the end (clapping and vocal improv, yours I assume) is so excellent! It really brought the whole track together for me. Thank you so much for getting involved! Hope you are healing up! Fave of course!

Bindanox replied 22nd Jun 2016 - 9 years ago
Thank you Patrick.Your opinion really matters.
I wanted to make an lo-fi remix. The first version had some hits of several vintage drum machines but then i decided to start again.
Your stems are really well organized and labelled and that made my life easier.
Yes,its my vocals and handclaps.
I think its a nice touch. It had also some whistle but i decided not to include.
Glad it made you smile.

Thanks for the opportunity.

Interesting style of industrial here, which gives me some feeling of late nineties hard rock. I like the drums you've put together on this one! I'll keep my patronizing comments to myself this time, as I realize that I've "beaten a dead horse" more than once when commenting on your tracks. I apologize for that. I will say, for humor alone, that it is no wonder that your headphones are dying! The tempo and the flow of this are quite cool, and I'd like to hear you deepen into this sort of style. Fun to hear!

Thank you Spiv, I hope you can excuse my late response, I have very little free time for the foreseeable future. Heh heh it's all worth it. I'm hoping to focus more on drum orientated music whilst keeping the power intact. This still isn't finished, I have a great idea of how it will be completed, but headphones (and time!) are a must. Thanks again for listening my friend :)

on How We Dream by BigPete
This definitely has the classic funk groove that is what I like about classic hip hop, as well as more modern influences... the synthesizers sound specifically "updated." This is far more complex than most hip hop that I've heard, which is cool, especially since you mixed it so well. Is this actually your vocal work? Well, either way it sounds really good in the context! Makes me think of the rap coming out of Minneapolis recently, such as Sims or Mixed Blood Majority... Both are pretty cool if you haven't listened to them yet! Thanks for sharing this awesome track! Faved!

When I turn my speakers all the way up, this actually sounds pretty decent! With that in mind, this song could be one which would benefit greatly from simple normalizing or gain. You wouldn't necessarily need to normalize to 0dB, but anything that would make it peak between 3 and 6dB would probably help a lot. It would be comparably loud, but without clipping or being over-compressed. I actually really like the composition on this! Nice melodies, and has a dance feel which could stand some heavier remixing for fun. I like it! Nice work!

on standhaft bleiben - feat Phatkatz bayou blues by joecramer
Very interesting take on a classic blues vibe here! I can't think of any other blues songs which I have heard which were written/sung in German, but I think it works just right, especially in this case! You also are tuning in your vocal style! Those cigar boxes are really sounding good, and it's been cool to see Burton making and using them in music. Brings a new spice to Looperman. Very fun song to hear, and I enjoyed reading the lyrics. Thank you for understanding those of us around the world who are simple minded, and have yet to learn any other languages fluently. Great song!

Hello Spiv,
nice to see that you found some time to listen to a non featured (or better a not featured anymore) song :)
It is always a good thing to work a little with Burton and you are right, his CBG's are some fine stuff.
When i wrote the lyrics for this song it wasn't a nice or a funny time but like mostly in life, bad things bring you to a point where you have to do someting to change the situation. And that situation let me leave the place where we lifed and buy a own house. And so we could let all the bad things behind us ...... Now i can enjoy the words but then i was full of hate and hated that so much .....
Now it is just a blues number :)
Good to know that you could enjoy our work

Thanks for your friendly comment and all the time you spend on listen to my music!

stay tuned

on 001 Test by bitronix
This has a pleasing sound to it for sure! I like the subtle melodies and chord work, it all flows very well. I suppose I'd have to say that this is not technically 8 bit music, since it uses NES sounds and the like. NES was of course a 16 bit system. It does have the sort of composition I would expect from an 8 bit tune, and no one is really going to care about the bit rate of the source sounds! I notice from your wave form, that you have a quite a bit of headroom. If you were to be more gentle with any compression or limiting which you have used, and then simply turn up all of the mixer tracks by the same relative amount, then you could push this to fill the headroom... That way, you would gain dynamic range without losing any apparent loudness. Just a thought. It sounds really good so far!

Hey spiv! My deepest apologies on not replying as soon as I receive your comment! My computer broke that time and I have to move to my crappy laptop which isnt compatible to any music DAWs or whatsoever. I might be not making music for a bit of time since I am making a game using these 16-bit tracks as you say so I might be off for a while. I'll be taking your advice about headrooms and compression. I'll be right back and thanks!

Interesting collection of demos here, and they all seem like they could go together on a release. It's not my usual listening preference, and they are not done, so it's hard to know much of what to say. I am curious though - When there is no rapping, what is the difference between a rap beat and a hip hop beat?

on The Rituals Of Spring by Orlando51
I'm really enjoying all of the aspects of this piece! You two seem to really work together well, and complement each other's talents. I like that this has at least some sense of sadness to it. In early spring, I always feel some sadness which can almost border on fear... then there is always the eager vibes, and a hopefulness. I think you two have successfully captured all of those feelings, and more, in this song. It seemed to start me on thinking of words which would complement the song, although it is early in the morning... that seems to be one of my habits. Thank you for sharing this awesome song! Fave!

on SupernovaMusique and New5ense - Say Yeah by IGS
This is an interesting style of house, unlike what I've heard before... I see that as a good thing! The first thing that came to mind is how this could use a really cool light show, you know spot lights, LED strobes, smoke machines, and all that kind of thing. That would be a trip. I like this song, it's got a fresh feeling, and it keeps me interested with the changes throughout. Cool song!

Deep stuff! Love the fusion of tribes which you demonstrate in this song! That "side stick" sort of percussion at the left sounds cool... I love those sort of percs. Nice stereo field, and great dynamics! Low end sounds clear and I can feel it in my legs. I had to move my iced coffee because it was blocking a speaker, I really wanted to hear the movement. So so cool. Another fave! Thanks for sharing! What sorts of things do you do as an Eco-Naturalist? Just curious.

Ah, yes, welcome to the latest genre addition on Looperman... Psychedelic! I'm so glad Shan added this category! I'd say that this song fits right in, as it is super trippy! Lots of different vocal aspects, and the blend sounds amazing! Very unusual arrangement, but it feels right! That break later in the song really took me off guard, I think it's getting me high. Cool. All in all, I'm loving this song! Big favorite! BTW, I see that you are located in Seward. Have not been there for a very long time, but spent quite a few years in Homer, pre-1996. Cool to hear some new music coming out of AK!

I don't know what it says about me that I don't know the original song, but I'm enjoying your remake. I'd like to hear it with more dynamics left in the final mix/master, but it's good as is for a club sort of track. I think you nailed that style, and if I was out there partying, I'd get into hearing this. Nice work.

I apologize if I came off as patronizing, as that was not my intention. It was only to alert you to a problem that would become especially apparent if you were to burn this onto a compact disc and play on a normal hi fi system. I suppose after commenting on nearly 6000 songs over the years, my ears are getting pretty tuned to picking up things in these streamed mp3 versions. It becomes difficult not to mention something. I have always been pretty brutally honest both online and off. Granted, it gets me in trouble, even with people who I appreciate, but it is part of who I am. I wish more people were honest, like you were in your reply. So many people on looperman and other music sites are only out for gaining compliments on their music, and I understand that as well. It still does not change how I react to things I hear. Don't worry about it, as I don't hear things the same way as everyone else. I'm also not a metal head any more, so there's that. If you think you may be going deaf, and the songs you have been making are as loud as this, then it may be a correlation to look into. Please don't take any offense at what I've written, because I do respect you as an artist. Respect and honesty go hand in hand for me.

Tinka0 replied 18th Jun 2016 - 9 years ago
No worries my friend, I understand, you are correct in your analysis, I should have probably elaborated as to why my latest offerings are not as polished as I'd like, simply: lack of time, headphones and overabundance of resources.
I guess I was trying to hack my ego, i.e put a tune out, get a response, release that particular endorphin in the hope of being more inclined to make more music. A bad idea in retrospect. Lessons learned. I'll be back with some more pleasing works in the coming weeks. Again, thank you for your ears :)

Very interesting song here. It was however shockingly loud when it began, and forced me to turn the speaker system down almost completely. I realize that you did not have any good way to monitor, so I can forgive that aspect. It should be simple enough to check for clipping without even listening though. Metal should be able to be turned up loud, but this forces me to turn it down.
Tinka0
Tinka0 replied 10th Jun 2016 - 9 years ago
Perhaps I'm going deaf.. I say that only half in jest.. I agree it's loud but nowhere near to the extend you describe, at least not on my end..

I've always relied upon my ears to discern a mix so I'm at a huge disadvantage right now, all of my tracks clip.. I do this deliberately, although I cannot control it in the usual way thanks to my lack of decent headphones.

I've noticed you've become very patronising over the years Spiv, check yourself my friend.

I would have hoped the quality of my previous works would have allowed you more understanding.. Nevertheless, thank you for listening.

How did I miss this so long ago?! This is crazy cool! Just placed my first song in the Ska genre here on Looperman, and wanted to see what else was in there. Found this track which is so awesome, and then a bunch of others which were not ska at all... mine probably sort of sits in between, so I'll leave it there for now.
