Some of the synth stuff in the intro reminds me of New Order or The Cure. Has a pleasing tone. The 'hip hop' reminds me of trip hop or new wave. Pretty cool! Glad you posted a track! Have a good time on the Loop!

I'm not the best for memorization at the moment, but I know vocal talent when I hear it. If you want me to do some instrumentals and mixing, use my contact form. I dig this flow! Fave!

on Its Like Im a Robot by Eratik
Have you ever heard of Sims? Though my knowledge of rap is limited, I find Sims to be the closest reference to this song. That is a great thing, as minneapolis rap is definitely some of my favorite. Has a good pop and electro feel, very unusual fusion, I love it! Fave!

on die slow by VicaMOOR
This is a cool narrative that you are working on! I liked listening to this one, especially since it isn't a musical track in the strict sense... something we are not used to on Looperman. The recording sounds pretty good, and it was fun to hear. Nicely done!

on Losing you by Rhodesy
I liked reading your nod to Prince in this description, and I am also enjoying this piece very much! This has a nice mid-eighties fusion feel to me, which seems to be so lost on many listeners recently. The flow and the mix are very good, and almost remind me of listening to a premium cassette on a great player. The guitar arpeggiations are just exquisite. I must admit that your song inspired me within a moment. I wish that I was in a better place to create something today, as there is some kind of great vibe going on today. Wonderful journey through the whole song... with many different facets and enjoyable moments. Love it! Fave!

on All Of Me - Brooklyn Moon Mix featuring Dinty by Eugeniusmaximus
I read your profile during the intro, and found your list of influences/faves to be interesting, and to make sense in the context of this song. I like the style! I see that you are pretty new to Looperman, so welcome! This sounds like it should be a 7 minute B-side to a cool eighties 7 or 10 inch vinyl. I'd say that it gets a bit more modern in the second half, but it's totally forgivable, especially considering that bass line. heh. I dig it! Fave!

on Xyilent - Morning Waltz by XyIlent
I liked the atmosphere, and that led me to spiritually identify with the rhythmic structure. While it took me a while to arrive at "waltz," I think I understand where you are coming from. Reminds me of something which may have come out a decade ago, and I appreciate that. Very fun to hear! Great work!
XyIlent
XyIlent replied 24th Apr 2016 - 9 years ago
Hey Spiv, yeah the waltz is referencing the vocal in the song where he says something like "with a nice dreamy waltz" so i decided to call it morning waltz, haha i dunno made sense to me at the time

"Reminds me of something which may have come out a decade ago"

Really?! awesome, cant say that was the intention was just messing around in FL :)

Thanks for the feedback man!

on Merci Michel by Musicante
This is some amazing jazz, which happens to be right up my alley! I love the way this is recorded and mixed throughout! The mix has a very live feel... I mean if I move around, the speakers give me the impression that the band is staying put, and I'm moving about the room. I like that. Very sorry to hear about your friend and band mate. This is a good recording to remember him by. I guess the only thing which I could wish to be added to the performance is an organ, but that is only my personal obsession. Ha ha. Thank you for sharing this awesome piece! Fave!
Musicante
Musicante replied 27th Apr 2016 - 9 years ago
Thank YOU, Spivkurl, for checking us out and leaving your kind words.

This was mixed in 5.1 surround sound, so that 'live feel' you're hearing may be a result of this. If you listen to it on a surround sound system, it is really noticeable. Thanks for mentioning this BTW. Nice to know it's being noticed.

Ciao,
M.

on My Contest Intrumental - Opinions Needed by BradoSanz
I enjoyed listening to this, despite it not being my listening preference. I thought the composition/writing was especially good, and I look forward to hearing it with vocals. I'm thinking that the mids and highs of those guitars will be in the way of the vocals as is, depending on the singer's range, but I'm sure that will be an easy fix. Other than that, I found this to have a good balance. Best wishes on the contest results!

on The Spanish Sun by DijamMusic
I am enjoying the composition of this piece. Good feelings, and interesting intervals. To be honest, I would far prefer it if it were played on actual instruments, especially considering it is in the "acoustic" genre. I'm a bit of a purist in those sort of ways though. Writing a piece is at least half of the battle, but continuing it through to acoustic performance wins the war. Had fun listening!

Hello Spivkurl,
You’re absolutely right mate it should have been played on the actual guitar.
But at the time I was thinking of dabbling with sound designing I hope I have succeeded?
Thanks for the feed back and I am glad you liked it.
Thanks again.

Hey buddy, good to see you visiting the site today! I'm digging this tune very much! The sounds are more high fidelity than I expect from 8 bit stuff, but that doesn't take away from the enjoyment of the tune. I think you're improving! Hope all is well! Fave!

on Nether grasp by mudhoen
While this isn't my preferred style of trance, I can really appreciate what went into it. Mostly, I've just never understood what "progressive" means in regards to music, whether it's progressive trance, rock, or whatever... This is a cool arrangement, with some interesting sounds for sure. I think I'd have to agree about the level of compression or limiting in the final product. It's not too bad, but it could be far more dynamic without losing much loudness. I do like that portamento synth around 2:45... that part especially could benefit from more dynamic range... that would sound very cool. I enjoyed listening! Keep at it!
mudhoen
mudhoen replied 17th Apr 2016 - 9 years ago
Thanks for stopping by. I thought progressive was seemly equal to uplifting but is also used to express experimental in its genre(like progressive rock). I think the arrangement is pretty ok but I just have to learn how to mix down a track. I lack the knowledge and will be learning the upcoming time how to mix down properly. Thanks for pointing it out!

Big and deep sound field in this song! I'm liking the epic vocal recording and the crazy rhythms. Some good messages in here, and I always appreciate that in a song (especially a rap). Pleasing and expressive throughout! Great work! Fave!

Very cool and interesting divergence from what I've come to expect on your profile! I can't say that it is an uninvited divergence though! I like very much your work with gross beat on the vocal parts... that is a very useful manipulator. Synthesis is sounding excellent! All in all a very cool track in a style which I enjoy hearing. Fave! BTW, have been spending time on the drum and bass stems which you sent me a while back, and I hope to have something worth sharing soon! Take care!

Thank you Friend! Indeed very different and (on the stylistical level) inspired by your music as well (especially pumping bassline in octaves sort of thing). I tried to make it a kind of House but the jazzy elements are not that very prominent and probably were lost somewhere in the mix. I am really glad you liked this track and some strangeness on the vocals I introduced! I invested a lot of energy in this one.

I am happy that you found some of the materials I sent useful and inspiring. I am thinking a lot of making some piano recordings at last - quite intense time now and a lot of outdoor work.

Thanks for nice review and the fave!

on Wildwood Ambience by DanGoldstein
Whatever you are doing to get this at the desired level, it is working. I like the sound of this! In all honesty, when you are working "in the box" with virtual synths and effects only, then there is usually very little wrong with simply boosting the gain (normalizing or whatever). I say this, because most plugins don't have any noise floor. As long as it's not boosted until it clips, it will probably sound fine. I like the artistry in this one, it's atmospheric and unusual! Keep at it!

I think with the change in drivers there will be a lot more flexibility. It has been like pulling teeth getting something approaching an acceptable mix. I'm glad you were digging this one. Huge thanks again for the recent brainstorming.

on The red velvet hat song by joecramer
Very fun song this is! I don't know if you've heard of the group, but this reminds me a bit of Tiger Lilies, minus the crazy vocals. Enjoy their stuff, especially when I'm very inebriated. I could definitely hear this being great with your vocals, but I understand wanting to do instrumentals every now and then. Very fun listen, and good use of the virtual accordian! I just picked up another magnus chord organ recently, and can't wait to play and sample it... they have a sound similar to an accordian but use a keyboard which directs air from a fan through reeds. It's a model 399 from around 1970, and is the best condition one I've ever seen. Fun. Thanks for sharing this song! Fave!

Hey Spiv,
I totaly understand what you mean about using it with my vocals on. I had or better lets say have that in my mind but i am sure that it will change the over all feeling of the track dramaticaly and then it will not fit to the pic anymore. So i put it to the side an thought i do it better later ....
If i had more space at my home i would collect also a lot of older instruments but i haven't :(

Thanks for your friendly comment and for the fav.

stay tuned

on RC thumper - I Just Wanna prod by MISTA S BEATZ by MISTASBEATZ
Hey, it's cool to meet another artist from Poland on the site! I'm enjoying listening to this collaboration! The music is simple, but effective. I guess there is a part that sounds like it is emulating a guitar possibly... I would love to hear it played by a real guitarist! Mix is sounding good! I like the combination of styles in this piece, very cool! Good work!

on In10gene Sur ma route RAW MIX by Soap
I didn't see anything recent, so I'm listening to this one which got far too little attention. Sounds pretty sweet. Think I'm going to smoke that other bat now. ahhh that's better... I'm liking the rap a bunch. One thing I'm noticing in the beat is the "tops" (high hat and snare) have a bunch of artifacts like they are low quality mp3 or time stretched too far. I think I'm just getting picky, as I've been moving back to mostly vinyl and cassette for listening. Other parts sound better though. Trippy filter synth effects in parts of this track! Good to listen to one of your tracks again, and I hope you'll drop something frrrrresh soon. Well done!

on Where the tracks have no name 1 by MaxBonsi
Interesting dark style of hip hop! I don't usually listen to hip hop without some vocal or rap elements, but I am enjoying this! I like the string melody... it's got that creepy haunting vibe. Nice stuttering percussion effect going on in the left side as well. Good stereo noise in the outro, I love that sort of sound design. Well done, and welcome to the site!

My first impression was wondering how this sounds as loud as it does with a waveform like that! I expected it would need to be turned up after hearing my song which I just replied to you on, but no it's actually louder! Sounds very good though, and would be especially cool in a film. A lot of sonic depth, and great use of the vocal parts! This is super creative. If you put out a movie, let me know! Fave!

on Touch Of The Irish Aka One For Ed by Orlando51
Very cool and interesting composition here! My initial reaction was to reference Emerson, Lake and Palmer, if they had not been so tied in with rock and roll. Very similar sounds to many of theirs that I remember listening to in my youth. I'm partly Irish, but have little cultural reference to it. I can appreciate the peaceful feelings, and the instrumentation. This sounds like it is more complex than it seems. I enjoyed listening very much!
Orlando51
Orlando51 replied 4th Apr 2016 - 9 years ago
Good old ELP....what a nice reference!:) I think all those influences are in the subconsciousness, cause I never try to copy anyone intentionaly except when I decide to do kind of tribute (Pax Europea) or a cover (Pilate's Dream) which are extremely rare features in my repertoire anyway. I'm really glad you enjoyed the listen...thanks alot my friend!

Interesting style of hip hop for sure. It's good to hear some more real instruments! My first impression was that the lyrics could have been delivered more accurately, but then I started wondering if I could do it even this well. So that led me to think that it's fine, and the accuracy will come with time. I did enjoy listening!

Thanks for listening and thank you for your comments. It is very interesting what you are saying, I have a theory why this is. Basically, HEMANIFEZT recorded this song, most likely to a very different beat, and then he posted only the Acapella. I took the vocals, and tried to find a beat and tempo that matches it, and built the whole song around it. Hemanifezt is a very good rapper, if you check out his Bandcamp site you will see what I mean. Thanks again for your comments, I really appreciate it!!!
