Very interesting style of song here. Has a very pop vibe to it, which is not what I would usually listen to. All the same, I do dig the composition and arrangement. I found the mix/master to be extremely loud and harsh, especially for this sort of "emotional" song. I had just listened to one of my songs in order to reply to a comment well... then I started your song, and I had to to lower the volume on my speakers so that they were nearly off. This is a bad sign. You want the listener to be able to adjust the volume on their own. There is some clipping present in the song, and I would back of on any compression and limiting thresholds/gain. Good work on the composition though for sure. Don't be discouraged about Looperman, just keep doing your thing here, and people will come around.
This is very cool and deeply interesting! Where did you find these vocals? They are pretty haunting in some way, and well recorded. The bass work sounds great as well... is that your upright bass? Quite the unexpected change in the middle there! Very jam band, improvisational stuff in this part. I hear jazz, blues, rock, pop, folk... and it's all rolled into one indefinable wrapper... like a fine cigar. Very fun to hear, and thought provoking! I found myself dreaming about playing bass all night last night, and this song encourages me even further, so thank you for that. Amazing song! Fave!
Hey Pat, glad you enjoyed the tune mate....The vocals come from Native Instruments Ethno World Voices, Iranian Neda licks in this case (there's some seriously cool samples in it) I played the licks using my midi keyboard then built the track around it..yeah this is the acoustic/electric bass I made, strung with black nylon tape wound strings I'm getting about 75% of the upright tone I was looking for and will be adding a Myer mini microphone to the sound hole in an attempt to get more acoustic growl but nothing will sound as good as a real double bass, man I had a cool 3/4 upright in 1981 and swapped it for a bass rig, dumb! dumb! dumb is me!(I was mainly into rock at the time)...when you play this bass the tone makes it's easy to slip into hoedown mode, blue grass and jazz! lol, so that explains the little excursions to the groove, ah man dreaming of playing bass is way cool more people should do it!haha...thanks for the cool review mate!!!..cheers Dave :)
Hey new friend, thank you for doing this remix and sending me the link! I'm liking this so far, and I don't find the intro slow or bad at all. It's minimal, but I enjoy that! I applaud you for being the only remixer so far to obviously use my modular circuit bent voice synth stems! This is a really unique style of electronic! I expected to hear some modern "EDM" sort of remix, but this is pleasantly surprising. Very fun! I like how you used the drum loops with the "whistle" part as well. Cool vocal manips as well! Freaky and fun all the way through! Rockin! Faved! If you ever manage to export a wav file, I'd love to have it for my collection, as I prefer to listen to uncompressed whenever possible. Thanks!
Oh man, this is perfect and very emotionally charged. I love it! You did succeed in capturing those feelings which you set out to capture. I think you should ignore Static's comment about a noise removal plugin, personally. There is, in my experience, no good "noise removal" plugin. Noise, by it's nature takes up most if not all of the audible spectrum. If it is removed, during the sound of the intended subject of recording, then by default something of the frequency present in the intended sound is also lost. Microphone recording has noise, and it is part of the character of the recording. I think that much of the emotion would be lost with processing such as this. He probably just listened to it at too high of a volume. I think you've done great work here. The whole thing was really pleasing to the ears and the heart. Sounds like you are having a good experience with protools! Keep doing what you do! Fave!
Thanks Spiv! I just now saw this comment and my apologies for not replying sooner! I really loved how this one came out, the vocals were great to me because they sounded raw and real. The girl has quite a voice, and I appreciate that she let me do this with her recording. Appreciate it!
Very cool and creative piece you've done here! I enjoyed it all the way through! I know people have been bringing up global warming and stuff, but I really took a different reference to the lyrical idea... Around here, even though we have a lot of days which are 30-40 degrees below zero (at least wind chill) in the winter, it is becoming the only safe time to enjoy the outside (such as parks and bike paths). This is because as soon as spring hits, the city and many of it's citizens begin spraying with toxic herbicides. I can walk for miles in dead cold without a problem, but take a short walk along the river during the warm season and I'm usually poisoned for days after. So basically things have switched in the last few years, where I feel safe going out there in the winter, and I enjoy it more, while in the summer I fear for my life. Either way, it's a cool and thought provoking song. Dig it! Fave!
Thanks Spiv!! I'm happy you enjoyed this one. I agree with the points you make. Winter is definitely better when it comes to piece, as most people usually stay inside, because of the cold. Once summer and spring comes along, everyone leaves their house and in doing so, the streets turns into the circus. With louder streets, more crowded stores and parks and more disturbances as a whole.
Like you said, people start spraying their bug spray and other types of spray all around, causing more toxins to pollute the streets, making it an overall less peaceful and unpleasant season. I guess all seasons have their pros and their cons.
Thanks for always stopping by and showing your support. Always appreciated.Take care and have a great day!
I enjoyed listening to this one! I think that considering you are working with these people over the internet and not in person, that this is a very cool effort! This sort of music is something which I always appreciate more in a live setting, but I liked it all the same. People mentioned RATM already, and I can definitely hear the similarities. I honestly haven't liked any of their stuff after the debut album in 1992, but that's just personal preference. You should be proud of this collaboration. You guys need to get together and tour!
Thanks man, I am so happy you and many others like it...makes us really happy. I wish I could play withthese guys life, but I don't think that is ever going to happen...too far away... but who knows, maybe one day... dreaming... :)
Very interesting style of electro here! Minimal in a good way, and it gets you moving! Cocaine has never been my drug of choice, in fact I've watched it ruin people too many times. I do believe that it should be legalized and regulated with all of the other drugs and psychoactives out there. Who am I to judge what people use to get through life, right? Then at least the law etc would not be the reason people's lives take a turn for the worse. Sorry to rant a bit, I guess your song just got my mind moving! I like the sample chopping in here, it's pretty trippy! Fun to hear all the way through! Definitely a change from what I've heard you do before, and it's good to try new things! Keep doing it! Fave!
Cheers Spiv. Done plenty of drugs in my younger days and seen some people get damaged alonbg the way and a few dead bodies too but the vast majority come to no harm.
I think it should all be legalised too then it they really would be controlled drugs as opposed to now where they are uncontrolled.
Any problems arising from use should be dealt with as a medical matter not criminal. If a junkie steals your car there's already lawst o deal with that.
Yeah just trying this one for a bit of fun especially as my last bluesy jazzy one was so laid back!
Hey this is sweet! Really remind me of a combination of fusion and blues jam bands around the eighties or nineties. I can totally get into that vibe, though I'm not a festival-goer. The vocals and guitar jams sound especially pristine, and I enjoy that. The bass is very groovy and deep! I'd say that the only thing that gets old is the EZ Drummer... it's really mostly personal preference though. People tend to get defensive when I talk to much about that sort of thing. Everything else including composition, performance, and lyrics is GREAT!
Hey my friend, thanks for the feedback. I agree with the EZ Drummer. Besides Vocals, it is my biggest weakness. I really need to spend some time working on getting a good drum sound. This was the result of needing to do something other than Rock. A pallet cleanser if you will. :)
Thanks for giving it a listen and for the feedback. Much appreciated.
I like the sound you have achieved here! I too almost expected Joe Cramer's voice to break in with his style of vocals. It stands well on it's own, but I always enjoy this sort of music with lyrics to anchor them. With that in mind, it does remind me a lot of Depeche Mode. That is something to be proud of for sure, as I have heard few that can successfully do that sort of style. Sounds very good throughout! Very cool composition! Fave!
Thanks a lot for the comment! As mentioned below I was occupied teh last time and did not pay attention to music. But now I am back and filled with ideas again :-). I definetly think Joe his voice would be damn good on this one. I might ask him what he thinks about it.
This is sounding great through the headphones today! On top of that, anything with a cool organ sound gets me right away! The vocals are too cool, and remind me a bit of the song "Stray Dog" on New Order's latest album "Music Complete." Love that album so much, and that song stands out to me, especially for the different vocals... and the alcohol abuse expressions. Either way, this song you guys made is really great! Dig it! Fave!
Don't hear this sort of dnb very often lately! Definitely borders on glitch hop, but I'm enjoying it. Pretty cool synth basses. Trippy stuff throughout. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for listening. My intention was to make a style of music called "Cloud". It has elements of another style of music called "Witch House". Both of these styles do have have musical origins in DnB.
Merci de votre attention. Mon intention était de faire un style de musique appelé "Cloud" . Il comporte des éléments d'un autre style de musique appelé " Witch House " . Ces deux styles n'ont ont des origines musicales dans DnB
Each time I hear this, I enjoy it that much more! Sounds really good to me right now. Been a very taxing day today, and leave it to music to be my medicine. Thank you for sharing this song with me. Fave!
Guessing it sounds different then when you heard it when in draft form, glad it helped make you feel little better are a hard day, thank you for the fav too, will upload stars later today or tomorrow, very happy with it now too...Peace n respect my friend...mosaic...
This seems to have changed a lot since I heard it last... or possibly it is I who have changed? Either way, this is sounding powerful. It does not sound like clipping to me, but more specifically something which is mainly in the left speaker, which is probably a sample which is clicking when it is triggered or cut off. That is definitely the only distraction from an otherwise very cool creation. I like it much!
Well - we are continuously changing, evolving! But the track did in fact evolve a lot as well. this was my first track since we did all the troubleshooting. I wanted to thank you again for all that help.
i have a few theories about the clicking and I appreciate your pointing that out. I am hoping to give one more intense pass to this one and possibly add another section or two to fill it out.
glad you were digging this bugpop concept. regards, Dan
This song stands well on it's own! Don't let others dictate what your art means to you. There is little need to deepen something which is deep enough for what it is. It's an interesting diversion from where you have been, and I can appreciate that simply for what it is. Great composition my friend!
I didn't know what to reply, dear friend.
Im sorry.
But I really appreciate your feedback!
recently my mind changed a bit, you know what im talking about. :)
im more day dreaming now than anything. But its better than what im used to.
I made a song about it, maybe you can relate to it.
I miss talking to you.

I can appreciate the theme of this piece, especially right now. Have just returned from speaking to a few corporations regarding their use and abuse of toxic lawn chemicals on their grounds. Things are getting so out of hand that I can't even feel safe and healthy in my own home, and on my own chemical free property. The worlds natural medicines are being eradicated in the name of "management," especially in a city such as ours, which is based on the medical industry. If there is no free and safe medicine, then people will be forced to purchase their prescriptions, with all of the deleterious side effects. Then they will be forced to have repeated surgeries to correct the problems that all of the poisons have induced. Then they will have to return for treatment for the infections which they received in their treatment. Then they will die, hopefully, and step aside for the non-idiots. Then the plants can thrive again. Thank you for sharing this piece, and listening to my rant! Faved!
Very deep and deconstructed feel to this piece, and I love it! Very pleasant to listen to through, and so complex due to the reality of it. I'm so happy to hear songs like this show up on Looperman of all places. Things are changing, albeit slowly. Very cool epiano solo, which sounds so authentic. Great wonderful song! Favorite!
Thank you Friend! I am sorry for responding with such a long delay in time! There is so much energy needing contribution to the actual reality of matters to survive and preserve myself (as a body-mind entity I mean) at this particular moment - a reason for my slow attitude in reacting to what I produced to Looperman. All Toax's sounds are midi based but I used only he's audio stuff here. I played some keyboard licks from sheet https://pl.scribd.com/doc/268519461/1001-Jazz-Licks-pdf This particular lick I used was form 'fusion' labeled instance of this book.
Obviously this is a kind of a 'fantasy' music - my take on Toax's 'Mebenwirkungen' materials transformed anywhere further.
Last Friday I've listened to fine discussion about Human Transgression and similar stuff on polish radio http://www.polskieradio.pl/8,Dwojka It made me think of that kind of concepts perfectly fitting to what actually Toax said about a track: it's an new age afterlife prolongation (in compositional sense) to his production.
I am happy you liked what I did and commented! Thank you once again!
Hey man, this has a lot of potential for the genre! I think it has cool elements of dub and trip hop, which is refreshing. I've mostly listened to trap for purposes of ripping it off to create a new style, but you have refreshed it. Very cool!
I very much enjoyed reading your description as the song progressed! I found it to be a believable narrative with the cinematic qualities of the music. A good success in the atyle for sure! I liked the energy and the mix throughout. Fun stuff! Fave!
Thanks Spiv! Glad you liked this one. Also happy you felt the story line went with the track. I might attempt at making story lines more often, as I believe it gives the music more of a meaning.
Thanks for always stopping by and leaving great comments! Take care!
Beautiful, and minimally epic! I'm loving it! Very good sounding depth to the mix, and the stereo field is equally impressive! The lyrics interest me, and it seems like the ideas could apply in many situations. That always makes for good lyric, I think. It was pleasing to hear, and very well created! Fave!
Very pleasing to listen to these two tracks from you! You are really coaxing some great sounds from that casio and the subsequent processing! With your keyboard skill, it is no surprise. When it comes to jazz, my real heart lies with jazz created before electronic instruments were commonplace, but the most appealing thing about jazz is the improvisation in composition and performance, and those are abundant in these tracks. After the minimal outro of the first track, I found the second track to seem quite loud, but after realizing that it was just in comparison, the second listen was not nearly as shocking. Both of these are very enjoyable and disarmingly complex. Second to hearing your awesome tracks, I always find it enjoyable to read your replies to comments. Your ideas and attitudes are inspiring, and are not what I am used to reading on the internet... which is refreshing. Thank you for sharing these pieces. Have a good day! Faves!
I am really glad you enjoyed this one! The very attitude I probably present here is a kind of a searching attitude. Just an example: I decided to spend some time (took me at least 2 hours a day over last 2 weeks) to explore the Harmony. This means I did 'reductions' of some 'written tracks' or 'compositions' by classical composers (mainly Chopin, Wagner, Reger but preferably Shumannn, Mendelssohn and like). The way I did it was still quite primitive: analize and transpose to CM or Am (paralellel minor).
I whish I could be able to contribute more to the 'sound', so to speak - in terms as it is presenting itself to this recording, for example. Definitely this will require some new, probably hardly refreshed attitude and an energy which is mostly desired here (by me).
Switch this up for cassette tape and 1/4" and XLR sources, and you would have something kill. I like your flow! Only it sounds very virtual at the moment. Keep doing what you're doing and explore more!
Lol interesting comment. Not only do i not know about any of the conversion methods you talk about I probably won't do any of them. Ill take that you like the track as you should because its not great, but definitely good, because i put thought and effort into it. Just let your approval or criticism come through more purely so I have something to go with. Thanks for listening.
Oh ha ha I already commented a couple of years ago. This encounter makes me wonder what's going on with you since we interacted? Are you still making music? Still alive? On a different path? This is super-funky and I have little recollection of hearing it before. Got that rehabotec vibe going on, with this culture of individual violence. Hope you are still doing your thing! How is Germany doing these days?
I find it difficult to listen to songs like this in general, but I can also appreciate the efforts and creativity involved with this sort of creation. This has a mix/master which I seem to becoming accustomed to by the end of the track, and this is something to be proud of in itself. I mention this as a preface for my initial reaction... that the mix has a very sharp mid-high frequency range. This is something which I seem to notice from many popular releases from the late nineties to early zero's. Needless to say, that time period was one of extreme isolation from pop culture for me. Most of the time, I find myself thankful for that. I think that this is a really good pop song, and thusly I am not the best person to react to it. I'm thinking that if my brain worked like the majority of people, then I would be in love right now, and I think that if you had released this in 1993, then I would have told you that you were ahead of your time. Please take what I'm saying as a compliment, because it means no less than that. I wish you the best of luck in this contest!
Thanks Spiv! I did have a struggle making the vocals stand out through the mix haha. That sharp mid-high range you're hearing may be coming from a result of my last-resort attempt to make the vocal cut through a bit better in the song haha. I appreciate your kind words, regardless of your musical taste :)
I am really enjoying the dynamic range in this piece, and I think that the instruments and how they were recorded adds to this considerably. The bass line is pretty sweet and groovy! Got to love one finger chords! They are well placed, timing wise, and everything sounds in tune (not always an easy feat). Good relaxing electro, not this modern EDM jive. Very fun to listen to! Hoping you can contact me about that mix. Great work! Fave!
I'm thinking, and I'm thinking that the solos are definitely the best part of this song. Very well played! Though, in the third solo, around 2:20-2:40, there is some very strong digital clipping present. I kind of figured that I would hear it somewhere in the song, as it was all quite loud, but I did not expect it to stand out that much. Some mixing adjustments would definitely bring out the best in these cool performances. I like what you played, and the composition very much! Puts me in mind of fusion a bit more than smooth jazz, but that matters little... and any way, I like fusion more! Keep it up, and it's good to have you back posting your songs!
Spivkurl thanks for stopping by and taking a listen. Was not sure who was still around but glad to see you to here just like the good ole days of looperman. Thanks for that tip on the clipping man you got some good ears. I will make some adjustments. Still little rusty from not doing this for a while but will keep that in mind. Again that for stopping by and comments appreciated. Filãofsoul
