Love this intro to this man, really caught my attention. Suprime elements you portray here, a great mix in all I think, and the quality is pretty darn admirable. The vocals are a tad out of my comfort zone I may say, but the overall production was a great job. Keep making "them" beats ste.
StephenPotter
StephenPotter replied Unknown
I used the vocals in this all sliced up because I literally could not figure out how to use them. Ray and Minette are both really talented musicians and I just really felt out of place trying to use the pellas.

Tempo changes are always good.

Thanks for the review!

SERIOUS POTENTIAL in this one...
LOVIN' that synth melody you got going
after the intro...
just relaxes me to the max...
good use of vol. automation too!

YOUR DRUMS PATTERNS off the CHAIN!
yup yup Bass is BANGIN' too...
perhaps a tad bit louder might be
better imo, BUT

Glad that you enjoyed the track, The melody after the intro took me the longest, the pad and fast melody didn't take me too long. The bass is Ummet ozcans genesis- I reccomend you look for a copy of computer music magazine, its on every disc after issue 154 I think.

Thanks for the review and the fav!

yeah wow. this has got great potential. The intro (as stated) is totally priceless very epic sounding and intriguing. I luved it!
Not sure why you put this in Trance as the Dkit is more Chill/Electronic style unless you plan to go Trance with it? But either way I luv the build up and all the synth sounds. can't wait for the finished product yo! :)

Hey Ste

Mate this is one very special piece, liking the pad at the start, to me sounds like a cat purring with content, very ambient feeling to this one, I would say more ambient then trance, nice beat and very nice synths, talent plus matey, one of the bright stars for the future, top stuff my friend...Fav'd...Peace dude...Estefano...

StephenPotter replied Unknown
I always thought the pad sounded like a vocoded helicopter, but your description sounds better :P
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the review and the fav, still got a long way to go with this track.

Sorry, I wanted to listen to this yesterday only but my internet didn't allowed me to do so. Glad to know your laptop is now fixed. OK let me start, intro grainy pad is superb. Then that Rhodes type of thing adds good ambiance to this track. Overall everything is top notch. I just hope that you are going to make it a bit longer because this one has got great potential. I am also happy to know that you are planning some album...Good Luck with that.
StephenPotter
StephenPotter replied Unknown
Believe it or not, the pad is actually 3xOsc, just tweaked a little, and the rhodes is actually WASP, again, tweaking the sound.

Not too sure about the album thing, but I think its about time I start trying to do something.

I've already started working on this track again, even though I just got back off holiday.

Thanks for the review!

LOVE it when the bassline kicks in! too short tho brother, maybe work some variations of the bassline. drop out the drums let the bass go for a bit, bring it all back then drop out the bass. switch up on and off, theres ALOT of potential for a monster here my man! BigUP!

hi ste :)
man..thats great...really nice melodies...great atmo in it...
really good drums...not typical for trance...but it fits well with the other stuff...good job for a demo...keep it up man :)

I'm glad you enjoyed it Joyful. I may need to re-catagorise the genre, I'm not too sure if this is a trance song, but I'm keeping it the same for now, cos I don't know what else this would go under.

Thanks for the review!

Wow there are some beautiful sounds in this track, I really dig it! I really like that arpeggio sound a lot! Awesome bass line! Interesting percussion, it has an almost jazzy vibe to it. Anyway, nice track so far!
StephenPotter
StephenPotter replied Unknown
The purcussion is a sample based drumkit in kore player. Normally I go for an analogue drumkit but it didn't feel right in this track. I'm glad you enjoyed the track, and thank you again for another review!

Never heard the looperman song, but this is a stand out track in its own right, kicks in nicely right from the start, catchy vocoder with some great sounds and beats, really well done man, could go an extended version of this for i had to hit it twice. nice one brother.
StephenPotter
StephenPotter replied Unknown
I forgot about this track, but I'm glad you liked it. The looperman song was a big collab (with smaller collabs inside of it) which was people volunteering to get their style of music into a big compilation. Unfortunatley, this one didn't get in because the tempo change was too awkward to mix into the final thing and because halfway through this song I lost refx nexus which was the majority of my sounds in this track.

But still, I'm glad you liked it, thanks for the review!

i like chill out and i like this song nice mellow intro you should try using a big ping pong pan on the echos of the start synth.. the beat is good decent amount of reverb but you should try layering the kick with a deeper one then break the song down to a good outro insted of it just ending or add more stuff like pianos and strings etc :)
StephenPotter
StephenPotter replied Unknown
Maybe I will do that if I change the genre, but its the simplicity of this song which is what made me proud of this one, as JahKnow pointed out in his review. I'll change the kick, and work on this track soon, but I got other tracks to do, I need to upload!

Also, schools out for six weeks :P

Thanks for the review and the fav!

WAO! The pianos and organs in this song are freeking awesome, Ste! Love the intro build up a lot! and then the 303 sounding synth in the middle break down with the filter sweep...supereb melodies my Friend. I would like a cleaner kick in the drum line, ususally with trance I would go with a real booming synth sounding kick. And I would like to hear a little less threshold on the side-chain comp. Other than that you got a masterpiece, Ste!

Great Song, Friend!

fav'd
StephenPotter
StephenPotter replied Unknown
I sorted out the sidechain when I made a High quality version for that guy below :P The drumloop is all from one drumkit so maybe another kick sound is in order, but I don't think those would take me long to sort out.

I feel the same about sony acid 7 as you do about fl 9, I prefer acid 6 because half of my vstis (both free and purchased) will not work on 7, but I keep 7 because some vstis that didn't work on 6 work on 7 lol.

Your track is great. You probably noticed that I went to your first track (the last on your list) two songs ago and have since been working up your list. I want to get some idea of your development process. So far I have to say I'm impressed. You apear to have a natural ear for combining sounds into a very interesting and coherent whole.

Looking forward to the next track.

Getting good comments from you in this genre means a lot to me, because your the one that introduced glitch to me really. This song wouldn't exist if it wasn't for you and everyone else contributing to the glitch logbook, so thanks for that, and for the reviews you've given on this and ZyKoh!
