that must have taken forever to sequence just right, good job there. the voices are really reminding me of gescom. this mostly sounds like you were playing around with sounds, the drums are in the background which is extremely unusual for the genre, sounds like you got reverb on it too. your doing very well in this genre
StephenPotter
StephenPotter replied Unknown
It appears I am doing well in this genre! Two reviews and two Favs aren't that bad :P
The voices are from Ray KoeFoed's acapella delicious waffles yum, and from Minettes in my hand. They are both too talented vocally for me, so I sliced them up.

I did put reverb on in parts, and I think I will probably bring the drums forwards. This took me a little over 4 hours to do, most of it was making the drumloop, a little time spent on the vocals and the rest arranging everything.

Thanks for the review!

This sounds very very good, I like what you did with the looper pellas, Just outta curiosity how do you r get that chaotic glitch effect with the samples? Are you cuttin em all up and just sequencing snips or do you use a piece or hard ware or sofware?
The Stuff you do with the drum samples at around 2:00. I would like to know how you achieved the drum bends. Anyway, Superb track!

I've just explained what I did to the track two minutes in on the glitch logbook, check out my latest post on it. I would have posted it here but I think everyone else should see it as well.

Thanks for the review and the fav!

Very powerful piece. Prob a little short for this genre, but as it is it is a rocking little track (if I can use rocking when speaking about this genre lol).

Well done

I thought I may have heard a bit of clipping (Could also be my headphones going). But other than that, I thought the track was awesome. Great beat, excellent choice of sounds\instrumentation and super flow.

Peace

I have a feeling that if I review another one of your tracks, you'll review another one of mine.. until we both run out of tracks and start posting twice on the same song :P

As for the clipping, I think there is some because this song is so old, you could have told me about clipping and my face would have had a really confused expression on it. Like this O_O

Thanks for the review!

I liked the track a lot. One thing perturbed me though, I thought it ended too soon lol. Seriously, it is a pleasant piece to listen to and I look forward to listening to more of your tracks in the near future.

There's a bit too much of reverb to me (after ~1min30), but wow awesome drums really dig this! Nice work and nice choice of sounds and fx. The fun you probably had making this track is kinda noticeable here!
StephenPotter
StephenPotter replied Unknown
This is one of the few tracks where I really wanted to go overboard with the reverb, and it was fun for me to make, I got to play around with things I don't normally do, like resampling, beepmap (picture to sound) and chopping up the drumloop was pretty fun.

Thanks for the review!

Yo fam excellent job on this one
Them drums be BANGING
That synth is CATCHY as F***K
too
NICE WORK

Much Respect from LA
StephenPotter
StephenPotter replied Unknown
I'm glad you liked it, it won't be long before I put this one on youtube.. I just need a decent screen recorder to get some clips.

Which synth were you talking about? The one that was playing with the drums? That one was actually a picture of myself put through beepmap and adjusted a couple of times. The drumloop is just me recycling some old loops I made but never used.

Thanks for the review and the fav!

on Pneumatic Screwdriver UPDATED by StephenPotter
someone was just talking about how there wasnt many dance and glitch combos. How about calling this one Pneumatic Screwdriver? the ambience really puts you in the mood, and i had my doubts about DBG, i find it very unweildy but very powerful when used right
StephenPotter
StephenPotter replied Unknown
I actually think Pneumatic Screwdriver is an awesome title, I may actually have to use that one! Glitch is a really fun genre to make, and it won't be so long before I do another glitch track! But I gotta finish this one first. And Dblue glitch is a bit generic unless used right.. I don't think I did too bad for a first go though. Still gotta get used to everything.

I too liked the piano very much, good work.

First of all I hope that you are not considering this as spam. LOL. That's not my mistake, why you produce such wonderful tracks that I can't resist myself from listening and reviewing them. :)

OK, great use of vocoders in this track. By the way which plugin you use Fruity Vocoder or Vocodex? That brekbeats type of drums are also stupendous. 10/10.
StephenPotter
StephenPotter replied Unknown
I don't see your reviews as spam, I actually like reading them!

I use the fruity vocoder, but vocodex is better. Shame Fl9 isn't as good as fl8. well, thats my opinion.

Your old songs are also awesome. So that means you are a born genius. Loved everything about this song. I only feel that this could have been mixed more nicely. But as you said its your old song, so no worries. And yes, intro of this song is so great. Cheers
StephenPotter
StephenPotter replied Unknown
This was either my second song uploaded, or my third, and its the first one I ever uploaded onto the internet. Looking back on this song, I realise how simple it actually was.

I wasn't born a genius, theres still 7/8 months of experience in this song, but my time making music has doubled since then.

Thanks for the review, glad to see your still around!

Wow that kick is very powerful. All that build ups are also great. On one hand I struggle to make my tracks loud and on the other hand I have to agree with everyone here that this track is very loud!! But that's not a big problem you can fix that. Another great track. Keep it up.

I will do, glad to see your still active on the site. Again, this is an old track but I could recover this one quite easily.

Relaxing Drum and bass!
Very good idea what you are made synth Fx bild ups in intro,
very creative!
Synths give the whole track a very good mood, along with drums!
Considering that you do this for 2 hours, impressive, you're really talented!

Keep doing good work Stephen!

I like making relaxing drum and bass, because I can't make heavier stuff at the moment.

A man after my own heart. I love that arpegiated key riff. That makes for a nice song in itself. Like the minimalism you kept in tact here. Ambient doesn't need a femal Enya vocal overdub or a cheesy string pad played over it all. This weird ambience that I love a lot.

Nice work mate.
StephenPotter
StephenPotter replied Unknown
Really, this is the first song I've made that I've kept simple, the rest of my songs have a lot more layers in. As for cheesy string pads, I normally love them, but I didn't think they would fit in with this one, so it looks like I did a good thing there.

Thanks for the review! I still like dance before the throne, its still a song I want to listen to a lot, but I don't want to fill your play thing with my face. I'd happily buy it.

First I just have to apologize for having your tracks on my own back burner for so long. The sheer volume of music on this site gets really daunting for me at times and it sets up procrastination cycles that aren't very cool.

You have a good ear, and a good sense of timing. With what I'm hearing here, it's pretty obvious that if music keeps your interest you're going to have skills in another ten years that'll make us all jealous. Yeah, at 14 ten years sounds like a long time, but that's the nature of relativity. Keep at it - it's worth it.

Really impressive work here. I promise it won't be nearly so long before my next review!
StephenPotter
StephenPotter replied Unknown
You don't need to apologize, I looked at your songs because I was interested in different genres which I hadn't actually heard of before. I didn't know what dub was till I came to this site and I still don't fully understand it. 10 years does seem like a long time, for me its almost a lifetime, but there are two places that I'm going to get musical help from, here and my school, so thats one good thing.

I got no plans on going back to xbox gaming like I did before, and now I got airsoft off my hobbies, musics become my one and only interest.. apart from eating, drinking, sleeping and the occasional PC game like beat hazard, and even then its a music game.

Thanks for the review, I'll be glad to see more of your songs!

on The storm outside (V2) by StephenPotter
im getting some clicks on the left side, it cuts off short, and it sounds a bit empty at times (though maybe thats a chillout thing, or maybe just me). its got some good ideas though, the guitar and "wind" are good examples
StephenPotter
StephenPotter replied Unknown
The empty parts I think is when one of the vsts I used failed to render the sound properly, don't know why it did or how to fix it because it works inside Fl but doesn't render the sound.

The guitar I had a lot of fun with the delay, and the wind was pretty simple to make.

Thanks again for another review my friend!

Hey Ste

Matey this is very nice piece, very nicely arranged my friend, love the piano, like to hear piano in trance piece's which I have done in a few of mine, good beat, can not fault in anyway, maybe just adding a few of the things that JW suggested would finish it off more, like making it sound more fuller and complete, but man love what you have done so far, fav'd dude...Peace and Respect Ste....Estefano...PS have new trance up now, Aboriginal Trance-Time, diff but hope you enjoy....
