Description : The Route of Industrial Culture celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2024. (Micky will know) For this reason, we wrote this rock anthem out of love for our homeland. It was our contribution to the celebration. Unfortunately, we stood no chance compared to our highly esteemed colleague Herbert Groenemeyer. Sadly, our song did not become the official anthem. *smile Here it is, with the English translation in the lyrics. Thanks at Olafs Big Band!!

Thank you, Richard. Believe me, it took several months for the song to become what it is now and how you hear it. Have a lovely weekend. Kind regards, Manuela.
Damn Manuela! I didn't realize you could sing with that kind of power and range. Consider me totally impressed, I was listening to how you structured the song and arranged it, very nice and solid. Though you didn't win the grand prize, know that you still have an amazing anthem that will be immortalized.
I gave this another listen, intrigued by the lyrics. You really bring it to light, that feeling of 'there is no place like home' and the ancestory connection - your voice is sublime, as always. Lyrically fabulous and sentiments trickle through to deliver something so warm and heartfelt. This isn't good - this is EXCELLENT! Kay
Far out, great performance all around but I don't think I've ever heard you open up and sing that high before. Anyway, this is surely anthemic in my opinion. All the best Chris.
After reading your reply, then re-reading my original comment, it occurred to me that telling a singer that, (to paraphrase myself), "the lyrics don't matter", and vocals "get in they way", could very easily be taken as disrespectful, thoughtless, and/or insulting. To which, I want to be very clear that I meant no disrespect, or make it seem like I was lessening your talents or your role in the band. If that's how I came across, I apologize.
Once again, my choice of words didn't quite align with the message I was trying to convey. ( A common occurrence for me.) Which is this: When a voice is used, but without words, it's much easier for me personally to focus on the emotions and the feeling behind it without dictation swaying my interpretation, thus giving me the opportunity come to my own translation based on the heart of the singer. When using the voice for it's tones, shapes, textures, etc. with no lyrics or words, I feel as if that is how you convey the deepest and truest meaning. When it's a beautifully primal expression which transcends region, language, or dialect, you have the ability to hear the singers soul. Not just their words. In which case, the message can be heard in the language that every human can intrinsically understand. Song. And I love that.
So, again, I hope I didn't offend you. It very sincerely was not my intent.
Take care.
Aaron.
Don't worry, Aaron! I didn't find your comment disrespectful or offensive. I took it as recognition and praise, just as you meant it. We've known each other here for a while, so you know that I always express my point of view! I especially like to do this with people whose opinion is important to me, and you are undoubtedly one of those people! Nevertheless, it's nice that you got in touch again to explain your thoughts from the first message. So, all good *smile, best wishes, Manuela
I am back because I need to explain my thoughts about catharsis, the way I felt it. To me it was here "In the cities of the region, you can feel the pain". It is this pain that this song needs to be cathartic of. Your audience when from your hometown knows this feeling. And your song can be a relief because it talks about worm feelings and strength, unity and brotherhood. To me it is perfectly healthy to try to ease pain and give back love, hope and pride. It is a unique procedure this of music and lyrics.
Thanks for the opportunity to share our thoughts, it always such a pleasure.
My regards, Anthony
"Hi Anthony, thank you for sharing your thoughts again. I believe we are very similar when it comes to the expressive power of texts and music. I know that you are a very sensitive person, which I notice time and again in your own songs. Best regards, Manuela
I'm one of those rare people that actually prefer music without vocals. But, not because I don't think voices belong in a song, but because most of the time, so much focus is placed on the lyrics, that the music itself is overlooked. I've always felt that if voices are going to be in music, then they should be treated as another instrument. Which is why Pink Floyd's "Great Gig In The Sky" is one of my all time favorite songs. I've been listening to that one for over 40 years, and still, it almost brings a tear to my eye.
I opted out of reading the translation for that reason. I was able to hear your voice for exactly what it is, and in this, it is outstanding. You display a tremendous amount of control, projection, and emotion. When you hit the high notes, your vibrato doesn't waver in the slightest. This is definitely a showcase of your abilities.
That "mmhmm" at the very end...I love it!
Very well done. To everyone involved.
Hello Aaron, thank you for your high praise! But you know that we don't always see eye to eye on certain things *smile. As a singer, I do strive to convey a certain message with my lyrics. I don't see myself as "just" an organic instrument. Of course, you're right, the voice is "sound," "words" are "tones," and their sequence forms the melody, which should indeed harmonize. What's wonderful is that it seems my voice left a very positive impression on you, and that makes me very happy. Thank you again for your words, they mean a lot to me.
That's an amazing recording, the vocals are really stunning. I had to read the English translation to get the full understanding and realize the true love you have for your region and their inhabitants. Reminded me of some parts of France in the North where people are really hard working, very welcoming and heartful. Thanks again for sharing.
Hello Oli, you're right. The mentality of the Ruhr area is not only found in Germany but also in many other countries where the industry emerged in the early 1900s. Unfortunately, it is sometimes paired with a certain level of neglect today. However, it has changed very positively in recent years.
Beautiful Little one!!
Nice that you sing about your habitat and your voice is amazing, especially when you sing the high and loud part. My god what a voice you have.
Proud of you.
The music is also amazing.
Hello Mom, thank you! It was an incredible experience to record the song in the amazing setting of a concert hall with absolutely professional conditions last year. 2024 was a particularly good year for us.
Kiss, Your Little One
I think you might be the Greatest overall LM artist (s) of all time. Very few would dispute that, that i know of. When my brother introduced me to this community I immediately understood the value of being part of it. Thank u for for supporting us! We will always be around to do the same. Now, about this song, your voice really stirs the Emotions inside me in a way that only u can do, and this song even more so than the others I've heard before it. U guys are the Goats. - Jared
Hello Jared, well, I am certainly not that! I believe there are a lot of great artists and talents here on Looperman. But I take your words not as an objective judgment of myself, but as a great compliment *smile.
I think there's no need to say how excellent this performance was. You all, manage with your special ways to make a powerful tool out of music. It is emotional but this is not all to me. You communicate your meaningful messages and that seems every time like a procedure of catharsis. For the listener (or the spectator) and the performer. There is so much interaction when music is driven by your capabilities. A bravo goes to all of you.
My best regards, Anthony
Hello Anthony, thank you so much for your truly, truly kind and beautiful words! Although the psychological concept of catharsis never crossed my mind while producing the song, it is true that music can reduce inner conflicts and repressed emotions through fictional expression. This has often been a theme in the songs I have released as Manuela (unfortunately only in German). I deeply appreciate your thoughtful and insightful words, as much as I appreciate your calm and balanced nature, which is reflected in your own songs.
Best regards, Manuela
Hello BaoBou, well, in my opinion, the Ruhr area has changed for the better. But yes, unfortunately, there's still some "dirty" there as well.
Best regards, Manuela
whoa...Right On, Manuela! U dont even have to tell me to smile today lol, Im already smiling. Sometimes really good music endears us so much that all we can do is smile and savor the moment while it lasts. I didnt kno what to expect and I was not let down. Much Love to u and everyone else, Manuela. By the way Ive downloaded a few more of your acapellas, one day soon the right project to use one will materialize. stay tuned. And well done, as always. - Aaron
Hello Aaron, thank you for your kind words! I'm glad to hear that you liked the acapellas. I'm excited to see what you'll create with them!
Best regards, Manuela
Hello
A really nice song, very nice voice and perfectly produced, keep it up!
Here you can hear another mix from me where Manuela sings outstandingly!
Best regards https://www.looperman.com/users/tracks/3895560
Of course I know what it's about. It's a shame you didn't do it, because the song would have been a perfect choice for it.
As a Duesseldorfer, I also know the Ruhr area well. There are numerous historic properties on the outskirts of Duesseldorf that the first major industrialists from the time of the rising Ruhr area had built here... real castles with huge parks and so on.... You can see the rich side there. But I also have many friends whose parents worked down in the mines, and I know the special Pott humor. I also had a few gigs with my band at the "Zeche" Bochum back then.
Best wishes and "Glueck auf!"
Micky
Hello Micky, thank you, I take it as a great compliment! But it just wasn't meant to be.
Yes, I know these large, still very opulent estates. They come from a time when some people achieved great economic success. When I look at today's times, where coal and steel play an ever smaller role, and people prefer to import steel from China and coal from Australia, I wonder what has become of this entire generation of people who worked so hard for us to have a good life. The big names of the once opulent industrial hierarchies, formerly family-owned, now in the hands of large corporations, are disappearing more and more and moving away because the profit is supposedly no longer sufficient.
Somehow I feel like recording this song again with different lyrics that are more relevant to the current situation. Maybe a little protest.
It's great that you also played at the "Zeche". Is your band still around?
Best regards, Manuela.
Hello 2Sisters, very excellent performance again, the vocalist has a stellar voice....as well as the background vocalist. The band was equally great all-around.
Hello Kay, I don't need to explain to you how exhausting and difficult this recording was. You are too good a musician yourself not to know this. So I'm even more delighted by your positive message and your high praise. Best regards, also to Oli, Manuela.
These kind of songs are always very deep, with a lot of emotions, intuition, love for home...
SOMETIMES THE HAIR STAND UP ON MY ARMS ... huge arches and the high ones look good too Manu ... :-)
hats off for both of you,
hug,
Danke
Hello Atilla, I'm really glad that you like this song. Yes, you're right, there's a lot of emotion in it. Best regards to you and your family, Manuela (hope the little one is doing well!)

Description : This is my newest creation, at a stage very near to completion. No third-party mastering or mixing, as with all my tracks. Just have to fix a few tiny things. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO MIX EVERYTHING IN THE SAME SESSION. This song has all human-played instruments - no quantization or MIDI! My brother does all the vocals except for the interlude part, which I do. My other brother plays the rhythm guitar (a Gibson Les Paul Custom - only one of 12 in the world!!) and I play the accompanying guitar (a Johnny Mar Jag and PRS). He has a lot of guitars :P A good friend of ours, Ronnie, plays the bass and another friend, Freddie, plays the drums. The drum track was done in one take (had to use an electric drum set due to time constraints - but acoustic kits are so much better). Overall, pretty satisfied with the result. Let me know your thoughts.
Description : Feel free to check out the lyrics video on YT as well :) This is a new track based on the great vocals by Ashes and Dreams! Again, a mix of electronic/progressive/rock, any feedback is welcome
Description : The first track I sing on. Cheap stage mic & no fancy plugins. Heavily guitar laden to the point it's got a bit of a shoegaze thing going on. I pulled the lyrics out of my ass & yes, they're a bit silly.
Description : This song was not supposed to be the fourth track of "Diverse waves", but it finally is. Anyway it's a rock oriented track with some interesting sounds. I hope you like it. Worked in zenbeats DAW, by Roland.
Description : BIG UPDATE 26/02/2014 - So, this was an 18 min track that I have now successfully split in two. 2nd half I uploaded a few weeks ago (Things That Should Always Be, with the bouncy 2 min reggae intro). This is the first half, which has a new mix, a mega chill, meditative ending and a little jazz thrown in for good measure. Takes a few minutes for beat to really kick in. Constantly evolving electric guitar, bass guitar, acoustic drums and lead banjo driven by fat, busy 80BPM grooves with a bit of a reggae and shuffle feel. Also: synth choir voices, dulcimer, violin, cello, shimmering pads. Builds up gradually to nice and rocking and then gets taken back down for the big comedown chill. I really don't know what sort of genre this is except 'far out'. I think it sounds more like a live band than one guy playing instruments and manipulating a DAW. Not my best track but a bit of blissful, sunny island fun. Real positive vibe here so I hope you give it a chance to unfold and unfurl. Sit back, clear your schedule and immerse yourself in these trippy sonic experiments cooked up deep in my off-planet underground laboratory. I have to send the MP3 to Earth via space courier (not cheap).
Description : This track was like the inhale after an exhale of aggressive industrial-electro-sludge tracks that I had put out that summer and fall. This was the more reserved, and introspective winter track. It's nothing spectacular, but I still really enjoy it. I hope you do too. Take care. V.
Description : when i was a kid you could go down and buy acid drops at the dairy - sour boiled sweets....vox, guitars and keys by me. Bass a LM loop by megapaul.
