    Good morning my friend,
as always your music enchants and surprises with its great variety. At the same time it is almost impossible to close what you compose into a defined genre, but this in my opinion is precisely the most innovative and interesting characteristic of your music.
    A warm greeting

OK, Steve! This is a great track. I loved the contrast from section to section. You are getting more and more inventive.

As I was listening to it I felt like it definitely could be a song performed live by a progressive rock group. Great energy.

Guitar parts were really, really good. Drums just drove the track, especially in the section beginning around 2:40.

    Very nice work, my friend!

It´s ironic because I did a song years ago called She is Untouchable, and apparently so did a rapper, so everyone clicked on my song thinking they were gonna get this.

Yeah, they didn't get that from me.
Sigh, got a lot of plays though back in the day.

Hi Cru sorry i was being a tad cheeky when i said about greatness i was referring that your music is great therefor the creator must also be great in what they are doing. The sea tale just came from your choppy bit i know you were not on about the sea but being a seaman and the mention of choppy instantly brings to mind rock in roll on a boat.

I try to do with loops what you do maybe not to the same degree but i like to take a loop that catches my ear and try to make something else out of it without destroying the actual ingredient funny tune i done last night is like that but the synth part did not come out as well as i had expected. (trial & error)

Thanks for your in-depth explanation on what you are achieving musically and trying to achieve.
Greatness comes in many forms and you certainly have an abundance of it when it comes to making music.

Ah just one thought question on loops before i forget if you take a said loop and do what you say and make a new tune out of the loop or loops can you then claim it as your own or do you still credit to original maker?
its a sticky area im not sure about so i always give credit even if the loops sound nothing like the original. what is your take on that?

    crucethus
    Reply by crucethus

    Whit like are ye?
Ehh? no worries mate. I love the cheekiness, I just wanted clarity so I don´t come off like a dick! The loop question is interesting, as I don´t really release these loop tracks as sellable tracks on the Interwebs, but I understand that a loop here is a royalty-free loop, as well as all the loops I use or make, so I haven't tested those waters yet. If the melodic strength of the song, or bass is from one particular loop maker than out of common courtesy I would acknowledge them. What I do here, is really more for me in my car and for a few people. At my age, I have no illusions of being a rock star, let alone dealing with the pressures and BS of the music industry. That time has come and gone. But hell if I´m not having some fun ehh?
BTW you said Seaman (Beavis and buthead joke). I grew up on Long Island New York and my family has a sea tradition (My uncles were clammers). I used to go off of Montauk point into the continental shelf to fish for shark where we would provide our own chum for the beasties if you know what I mean. I love the water, and even Now even here in Gatineau Quebec, I live near the river (Ottawa) because the water is my tranquility. And making music is my peace.
    Here's tae ye!

This is freaking! amazing!...Another supreme track by you love the guitar in this and the change of pace was just divine! very ethereal. The vocals are so on point and add a nice touch to this track. Steven, you are in a league all of your own, another golden nugget here indeed, always blown away by the level of music you produce. Nice, interesting track. Liked the syncopated vocals part, almost like horn riffs. Only thing I would maybe do is dial back the phase intensity on the lead part that happens a couple times. Other than that great sounding track.

Thanks, mate, I agree with you on the usage of the vocals as almost another instrument. I can play around with the solos since I am using a modified fab filter volcano patch and I can try backing down a bit on the wetness in a future mix.
    Cheers

Sometimes it has to be just some rock.
Really rocking stuff with a nice relaxing part.
Everything is, as always, well produced and sounds over all very good.
But, :) and thats really only me and my feelings to sounds, i had made the guitars sound more like a real guitar or more like a hard synth sound, cause so it sounds to me like a synth that should sound like a guitar :) if you know what i mean.
The drums are extremly cool sounding!
A really cool work for sure and i enjoyed it a lot

    stay tuned

    Thanks, Joe.

I know you are a purist when it comes to sound and authenticity. So please bear with my experimenting trying to drag rock into the future. I purposely am trying to blend the guitar-synth sound textures using VST´s to create something new. This is a strange hybrid of Blast beat drumming, Ambient pads, U2 edge like guitars over thrash chugs with a moving bass, and strange synth burps. None of that should work together in theory, but magically it does.
But that's the fun of experimentation, you never know what you will get until you try.
    take care.
    Steven

Where do you start on greatness the tune that is not you, you could be that is still to be decided ;)

So many thoughts passes through the brain when listening here are a few.
Vocals Wow who is she? Bass at start mental love it. Hanging guitar at the end right up my tree also the wee solo, the rock to ambient almost then back to rock kicks ass. Dam your good without a drop of sweat and tears. Erm what else?

Ah choppy ride, when i was a young lad working on supply boats we had a trip the ship rocked back and forth all month bad weather a newish kinda a ship so should of been able to handle the North Sea anyway many a sleepless night with the weather then 2 days from when we were due to go home the captain realises there is ballast tanks in the engine room and distributes the water even between the ballast tanks ah steady ship, So in the mess deck where you eat your food and of course robin being robin shouts up 26 days at sea and he just sorts the ballast out now what kinda captain is he!!! To who was standing right behind my chair with his dinner, Never said a word and about turned and walked out. Apart from that was a cracking skipper got us all drunk the night we sailed and put me on watch lasted 5 mins on bridge hit the breakwater and was sick everywhere. I like when music brings thoughts out in you.

Thank you for the music and sharing it :)

    ¨Vocals Wow who is she:¨
Function loops Vocal inspiration Commercial edition.
¨the rock to ambient almost then back to rock kicks ass. Dam your good without a drop of sweat and tears¨
I have been experimenting with contrast in dynamic sounds and ethereal sounds competing with each other in the tune.

Cool tale of the sea mate. (ballast, lol) Interesting that this song gave you that memory. I never intended to make it a seafaring metaphor, but I guess that works as well.
¨Where do you start on greatness the tune that is not you, you could be that is still to be decided ;)¨ not quite sure what you are getting at, so some clarification, please. If you are referring to that I do more electronic dance tunes, I have a long extensive catalog going back to 99 of me doing many genres. I love Metal and rock. I even do strange electronic jazz. This site is fun for me as I concentrate on taking the loops of others and bending them to my will or need as the song sees fit and try to come up with the most creative sound that I like. But I also like playing my synths and in having an affinity for Metal, I love soloing on those synths, even imitating guitars with a Roland ME-30. Someone years ago on this site called me Yngwie Korgstein because of the ridiculous and pretentious solos. Now I concentrate on the song, and I like teasing the listener with short intense solo sounds. I feel I am a better arranger producer and engineer now than a songwriter or performer.
But its all a journey of discovery. Thanks for your listen

Description : I wrote this song some time ago when I was living in Florida. It's even more true today.

Vocals by Arthur Granquist, guitar by the great Kevin Lysen, drums by Marc Karmatz, also the recording engineer.

The idea musically was to take some rock and some bluegrass elements, mash 'em up and see what happened.

Every day is a struggle to do better in a crazy world.

Description : This is my newest creation, at a stage very near to completion. No third-party mastering or mixing, as with all my tracks. Just have to fix a few tiny things. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO MIX EVERYTHING IN THE SAME SESSION. This song has all human-played instruments - no quantization or MIDI! My brother does all the vocals except for the interlude part, which I do. My other brother plays the rhythm guitar (a Gibson Les Paul Custom - only one of 12 in the world!!) and I play the accompanying guitar (a Johnny Mar Jag and PRS). He has a lot of guitars :P A good friend of ours, Ronnie, plays the bass and another friend, Freddie, plays the drums. The drum track was done in one take (had to use an electric drum set due to time constraints - but acoustic kits are so much better). Overall, pretty satisfied with the result. Let me know your thoughts.

Description : The first track I sing on. Cheap stage mic & no fancy plugins. Heavily guitar laden to the point it's got a bit of a shoegaze thing going on. I pulled the lyrics out of my ass & yes, they're a bit silly.
