Description : This started life as an ambient recording with the Zoom H2 in my loungeroom. Then it got squashed, distorted, twisted and reverbed into what you hear now. It's not Halloween yet but this haunted riser is ready for the full moon. FX used: Trash/Valhalla/Drum Snapper/LA-2A and DD Filter.

Description : Using the same metal tin can found sounds from Koala that I recorded earlier, I made this hi hat loop. Sequenced in Drum Racks. I used Drum Snapper to sharpen the transients and Magic Dice for reverb.
14th Jun 2025 10:45 - 6 months ago
Description : Using white noise only to sculpt some hi hats. Using Simple Side to shape the hats and Magic Dice to add a bit of space. DD filter to get rid of some unwanted low frequencies. Hi hats made the very old-fashioned way!

Description : A nice melody that rolls along. Made with Vital VSTi, NI Dirt and UAD Plate Reverb. All simple but effective utilities - especially Vital! Best free synth by a mile.
14th Jun 2025 07:55 - 6 months ago
Description : Nice background layer loop for EDM of any kind. Made with Odin 2 VSTi and NI flair chorus. Saturated with Ableton's stock saturator.
14th Jun 2025 07:55 - 6 months ago
Description : Trippy top loop good for psytrance. Tin can sounds recorded with Koala Sampler. Sequenced in Drum Racks with Freak and Replika for FX.
14th Jun 2025 07:54 - 6 months ago
Description : Moar techno moar kicks moar rave! This is my RD-9 through the mixer's reverb for the warehouse space feel. The hats were recorded separately and mixed back in with sidechain. The sub is from Odin 2 and the slight riser is just white noise from the Edge. Techno techno techno all the way down.

Description : Drum loop made with Battery 4 and run though Supercharger GT with the saturation turned up. Not sure I like this more than my hardware drums machines but it hits pretty solid.
9th Jun 2025 06:44 - 6 months ago
Description : Another percussion loop made with found sounds. This time I used all Native Instruments devices: Battery 4, Transient Master, Bite and Replika.
8th Jun 2025 16:38 - 6 months ago
Description : Keeping with today's theme of making percussion loops with little DJ effects, here is another one for EDM. Using WA DJFX for the little tweaks and Roland Space Echo for the dubby delay on this one.

Description : Just a little percussion loop for house music made with the Yamaha V50 and a bitcrusher.
8th Jun 2025 07:11 - 6 months ago
Description : This percussion loop uses the WA DJFX vst plugin effect to make a nice little sweep at the end. The percussion itself was made using scrunched up paper sounds sequenced in Koala Sampler. The loop was the processed in Ableton on the PC.

Description : A nice percussion loop made with drum racks in Ableton. The main thing I wanted to try out was the WA DJFX vst plugin effect - I have used it verry subtly on this loop at the end but it can go pretty wild.

Description : More hard techno kicks because I know people love them! These were made entirely 'in the box' with just Ableton Drum Racks and Ableton FX (mostly reverb, saturation, sidechaied compression and autofilter). You don't always need all the expensive stuff to make good sounds (not that Live is cheap haha).

Description : These kick loops are created using a method I learned from Aussie legend Mickey Nox. Basically you just sidechain a sound to a nice kick to create a rumble from almost anything. For these three loops I sidechained and filtered full hardtechno loops (some of my own earlier loops) and the results were pretty massive.

Description : Nice lead sound for a trance track. Recorded from Juno-D. Replika delay used for space.

Description : Trance synth layer. Detuned FX. Recorded from Juno-D.

Description : Lo-Fi layer made with a Roland Juno-D and tape FX.

Description : For these disco loops I have tried to recreate the sound of sampling from dusty old records, using just Drum Racks in Ableton. The result is crate digging without the crates and dust :)
