Wow this is one very dope track. You are truly a master of psychedelic groove my friend. Very slick intro guitar that fooled me on its line until the percussion kicked in. I always dig that ! Totally bitchen bass throughout the entirety track. You pack so much into each of your tracks its unbelievable.
I really love that vox effect on the synth there at 3:25. First time I recall hearing something like that in one of your tracks. I also really dig those spacey sounding pads starting there around 4:15. Loads of cool synthesizer layers mixed with some hard hitting distortion guitar lead there and then the nice mellowed outro, with some tasty guitar riffage to end it.
You definitely nailed it when you labeled it as a constantly shifting landscape, but that's really your signature. Theres never any boring rides with you my friend thats for sure !
Im lovin it.
Yes, it’s a funny little guitar intro that I have no memory of playing and you don’t know what you’re going to get until the bass and drums properly enter. And then there are some fun, funk basslines.
“You pack so much into each of your tracks its unbelievable”
I know – sometimes I think if I cut them down a lot more, they would be more memorable as there’s just too much to remember (even for me, seriously). But then you’ve always got the fun of coming back to one of mine and being transported through so many different terrains and moods and sounds. I find I can sort of rediscover many of my longer tracks when I listen to them again after not having done so for many months.
“I really love that vox effect on the synth there at 3:25”
Yeah, my oldish Korg Z1 synth there. Should use that sort of sound a bit more, perhaps. Very exciting sort of instantly arresting sound that grabs you though it can easily become a bit cheesy if you don’t get it right.
“bitchen bass throughout”
Yes – I think it’s an unusual mix of funk bass guitar and synth bass. I think people tend to stick to one or the other in a single track but I’d say that this has distinctive basslines from both.
“also really dig those spacey sounding pads starting there around 4:15.”
Yes, it’s two pads and they’re playing a melody I find quite moving. And very far out. Pure ambient groove there. You could remove the bass and drums and it would still work fine. But I’m a bass and drums/groove obsessive so I like to keep them pumping.
“Theres never any boring rides with you my friend”
I find I have to keep myself interested throughout whilst making the track and don’t dare bring a part or section back unless I present it in a new way. That way, the track is constantly moving. The trick is making the transitions feel natural. Or at least desirable.
Thanks for your thoughts and congrats on your bitchin’ new slice of spooky dubsteppery.
Ookami this is fabulous !
The guitar intro almost sounds like a spinnet.
The piano and the spacey sounding synth are quite contrasting but I love it.
Totally fresh and unique.
Really enjoyed it man.
Thanks Neo! This was absolutely different for me. I've never made nor heard anything like this before. Rozen has a very different style which made this possible to make. I'm looking forward to working with him some more. Thank you again!
Really sweet minimal Renz. Yeah you pretty much nailed the Moroder sound. Very retro disco. I think StaticNomad is right on the spoken audio. Harrison Ford in "Blade Runner" using some kind of machine to enhance a picture for uncover clues on a suspect. I liked the movie and thought Rutger Howards performance was awesome.
This is a very unique and twisted mix snow.
Quite a mash up of many genres. I hear hip hop, House, Electro, Industrial and Dubstep.
Speaking of which I totally dig the last segment starting there at 2:38. That's very cool.
Thank you Neo and indeed it is glad you like it. There are those sounds that you mentioned and some subtle ones. I will actually let everyone know that the songs I do sound different in the car, on the tv, on the computer, and on an ipod. I wanted to actually create some trippy type of thing with what I do. I agree with you the last part is pretty nice. Thank you again for liking and listening. If you would like to help me out with next song I am open to create something unique and tells a story.
Spauly, I dig this man.
Really nice minimal. If this is your 2nd track, you really got some talent. The production is really good and I enjoyed the choices made on the instruments and effects.
Cool track, look forward to hearing more from you.
Scott you nailed it bro.
Its loaded with all the classic sounds and its got the spy vibe down to a "T". Its a perfect theme for a cartoon or one of those spoof spy movies where the main characters are animals. I like how you changed it up with the various sections.
Very clever and expertly done. I really enjoyed this.
Totally tripped out track Spiv !
Yeah that Mighty Bass is a Sub Punisher for sure.
I dig man, its different, wacky, wild, weird, crazy and well... genius.
Love it!
Hey man, been a while it seems! Hope you are well! Happy that you enjoyed listening to this one. From what I remember it was a great outlet to create... hope I can live up to this in the future. It's so enjoyable to make minimal techno, and I have to force myself to do something different sometimes. Thanks so much for the good comment!
Yeah man that's nice Deep!
A lot of people don't realize how capable those vst's are.
I had FL Studio for over a year and never touched any of the included plugins. I tried a similar experiment on my "Psychosilliscope" track with Wasp and 3Xosc.
Hey Evan.
It seems like your experimenting with some things here and I like. Very catchy and upbeat melodies. I really dig the first section with the acoustic and the bouncy synth. Was hoping to hear some heavier guitar there where it got a bit darker around 1:10.
Nice work on the mix down, lots of good separation and super clean. Dig it bro.
High praise. Commenting on the mix being good is something that almost never happens. So much bass guitar muds my tracks up, so I feel I over-cut some lows just to make room for more! Thanks for the kind words.
Yeah you really went techno on this one Des, but I like it.
The vox fits well and I liked the way it builds toward that lead. Which by the way is killer. I dig the contrast of the heavy sustained guitar against the gentle synths and orchestration.
Another heavy installment Destero.
I like it the sustained chords over the chugs. The leads are wicked as usual. Wish you would have worked in a bridge or chord change to break it up at some point though.
Good stuff all the same bro.
Its not a bad track, I actually like the melodies a lot but seriously you cant make a statement like that. This is not a great example of dubstep. Sorry.
Killer band, Killer song, but man does the world need another cover of this tune? Sorry but it seems every wanna-be guitarist out there has a cover on this.
I've got to say your a bit of an enigma. Im not sure if you are producing or actually playing or a combination of all three. Your track descriptions dont offer up much details. Im gonna take a shot here and assume since this is a cover and you refer to it as a demo, that you are most likely playing guitar. Your profile describes you playing guitar, drums, keys. Free up some details in regards for better reviews.
I really dig progressive metal and the baritone guitar thats become a signature element in defining it's sound. If your in fact playing on this, you've got some skills. This is really some technical stuff and just being able to make your way through this is quite a feat in itself. Its a little muddy in places but your obviously aware since you mentioned still having to clean it. I really dont know what more to say other than keep at it and definitely look forward to seeing/hearing more from you. I scoped out your other tracks but the descriptions are pretty much on par with this so again not sure what your level of involvement really is.
On a side note I will have to debate some with StaticNomad's reference to djent as a music style or genre. It really only relates to the detuned 7-8 string guitar setup and palm muted technique of playing.
Hey man thanks for the feedback! On this track i played everything except drums. I actually got the clean break from a friend because i couldn't recreate it. I used my TR-8 Rhythm Performer and liked the deep sound i was getting from them so i ran with it. I do agree that everyone and there mother has a cover of this but i just thought it was fun to play! I didn't think anyone would take in interest in my stuff so that's why i kept it vague lol. Anyway thank you for the positive vibes!
Hey Orlando, I've been so busy the past week, just now getting round to checking out the latest tracks. This is a particularly brilliant piece of music you and Ed have composed. Its one of those that immediately reaches deep into you and touches your soul with some kind of strange and wonderful energy.
Music has long been recognized for its therapeutic value, its ability to affect mood, trigger memories and foster loving associations.
This one I think, is verification of that and fully delivers on every level.
Thanks for sharing this with us and certainly wish you both all the best in whatever the future has in store.
Hey Azzy pretty cool track.
The piano melody reminds me of a tune I recall in one of the old Legend of Zelda video games.
Lots of straight forward wobbles, saws, pitch bends and FX thats reminisient of such artists as Skrillex, Knife Party, Kill the Noise etc.
Check out your placement of the volume envelope there at the very beginning where your fading in the melody. I get a noticable bleep at the start.
Thanks for listening ;) I tried to make something in Skrillex style, but still not copying him at all. I didn't notice earlier about that bleep, thanks you mentioned it :3 Have a nice day :)
YEAH, now that's how its done bro !
That is one tight mix.
Nice progressions, builds, flow and transitions.
Pretty damn good with the Harmour stuff too.
I think the fade out around 4:00 sort of destroys the continuity though. A little blending there without the fading would make it seem more like one continual track.
I liked how you finished by bringing back the initial melody and totally dig the ending too.
Great track bro, nice job.
Thanks man, Theres a few things in this track i don't like so i'm not actually very happy with it and kind of wish i'd just left it as the one track. I don't like the kick drum in the first section because it has this annoying click on it and there's a synth i don't like in the second part. Sadly i didn't realize i hated it until after i'd posted the track. But i guess shit really does happen sometimes.
Cheers for stopping and leaving your thoughts.
FR
Hey friend, I appreciate your stopping by! After yours and other comments I'm think of adding to the song a little, we'll see how that goes. Glad you like the groove
Dude the first section is dope. Love everything but then it just goes into a different song. Too drastic of a change. It sounds like the samples you hear on websites selling sample paks. This is the trouble with purchasing these paks.
I would suggest you work more with the first section and save the rest for another track.
It is samples from a loop website so it's exactly what it is. I was just messing with some loops and vocals but got bored with trying to find things that worked. I'm still working on it now though so hopefully it will sound better when i've finished.
I purposely made it into two (and a half) tracks as well as i'm out of space on my profile and just trying to squeeze as many tunes as i can into one.
But peeps seem to prefer the first part so i might just make it into one.
Cheers for stopping by.
