Tasty fusion track, superb work on the bass and as PJB pointed out the interaction between bass and melody is perfect.

Hi MrNomad,
After a long break I come back to Looperman and I don't find any new MrNomad's song in the featured tracklist. Toobad!
So I had to dig into the track section of your account...and I found something.
Here my humble comment...
wonderful intro; liked the guitar sound a lot
nice bass line in the section starting from ~40", I don't like too much the bass sound but the line is catchy and "sexy". Funky?
The "cure-ish" guitar at 2:00 is a little gem: this is the characteristic that I like the most in your music: you throw in a gozzillion of these little brilliant phrases in your tracks and you never indulge "too much" in repeating them.
...some bass slap notes ~3:00, cute :-)
Around 3:20 we get psychedelic once more.
"Alien sounds" at 3:30: I don't know what this is but sounds good (and strange).
Unexpected change at 5:00 ... maybe a bit disappointing for me. Not your best section, but still good enough for me to listen through it.
And then ...synth arpeggios, lots of them: not my cup of tea but I liked it.
Approaching 7:00 we have "epic strings" bringing the mood more into known ground.
Some ol'good dist guitars at 7:30 ... liked it.
The track raises up ... are we approaching the end?
Lasers...dist riffs...wow, these nasty guitars have kicked away the poor bass...
Very good "riffing" in the last section (from 9:00) ... and finally the end.
Overall: I enjoyed this song.
I expect I will come back to looperman to listen it again later.
You are an excellent musician MrNomad.
Thanks.

Hello. Thanks for searching for new tracks from me (like a proper fan). It's true that I haven't uploaded a new one in ages (about 6 weeks) but I have a new one now (Bright Side Of The Sun) and here are two others you may have missed that I suspect you'll like:
Yes, clean funky autowah guitar sound that I should use more.
0:40 some sort of synth bass part made many years ago with my Korg Z1 that I've used in a few tracks (the exact same part!). I love that sound.
""cure-ish" guitar at 2:00"
I had no idea that sounded like The Cure. I'm not a fan but I have heard a fair bit of their music over the years. I respect more than like them (not keen on Robert Smith's vocal style).
Yes, one of the major highlights of my music in general is just how many short little interesting bits pop here and there. I really do try hard to reuse these parts and make the most of them but sometimes it's best to hear them only briefly. Sometimes it's more memorable.
I very rarely do any slap bass but used to a lot more in my teenage years (I started out as a bass player). The slap here was probably played in about 2002 though there is also some in my new funk track Bright Side Of The Sun.
""Alien sounds" at 3:30"
Lead Korg Z1 synth part that is indeed quite alien (see Evisma's description). I should use that sound more often.
Sorry you didn't like the change at 5:00. I do. That'd where the track changes direction and becomes more acid synth. I guess you're not so into 303 stuff. That's more for people like Crucethus and other dance music lovers. Me too but it has to be done right (most of it I find quite boring and unimaginative).
You also don't like the synth arps eg 6:31. Probably because it's over more of the synth dance stuff. I know you prefer the rock/funk/guitar stuff. That's OK.
Yes, 7:00 epic strings - very powerful and bassy Korg Z1 sound.
7:29 not distorted guitar but an earlier funk bass guitar part (eg 2:15) put through one software amp. Classic example of me reusing parts. This time it's hard to recognise it from before.
"Lasers"?
No lasers here! Must be some of the crazy distorted, delayed lead synth parts arriving on 7:47.
8:07 I love that weird melody.
Finally some heavy guitar comes in on 8:26. Before it was just bass g, drums and synth.
9:43 I'm really pleased with the beauty of that guitar part (and drums). Like a whole new track but also a calm ending.
Super track: I think the word "understated" is really fitting well the work you have done.
...and this is a real art!
I think this should always the first goal of a musician: give the song exactly what the songs needs, not a single note more!
With that respect, the short guitar solo is a perfect example: it is helping tremendously in creating a "movement" in a point where the song may slip into "repetitiveness".
In short: I loved this song!
Ciao, Domenico
PS: ...forgot to mention...I hate the auto-tune effect and I fully believe that Farisha doesn't need it... but who am I to dictate what others should do?
And the final result is "very enjoyable", this is all that matters.
Thank you so much for taking the time to post your comments. Much appreciated.
I like the "understated" view very much and just about sums up my approach to all of this. I guess my view is "little is more" and sometimes it's what you leave out that is important. Thank you too for the comment on the solo. Again you hit the nail on the head as providing some contrast was indeed the purpose of it. You have a good insight into how I work I think!!
OK I am all auto tuned out so glad you found the overall track enjoyable.
Very good.
Actually it is so good that I think that the piano "alone" would even be better (IMHO).
You have a good touch and lots of good ideas in this one.
Really liked
Ciao, Domenico
PS: I would have downloaded it if it was possible. But no download, so I mark it as favorite for listening again later :)
I considered doing the piano solo but decided it would take a lot of new piano progressions which are pretty hard to come up with after a while, so I decided to layer them for the variation to make it a slightly longer piece without letting it become boring after a while.
Interesting experiment, less innovative than other things you have done but still kept my interest while hearing.
As already mentioned in other comments, the simplicity is the key and keeping things simple is not as easy as it may sound.
Good work!
Ciao, Domenico
PS: Now I am going to check out the work promenade did with your ideas... I really liked your sentence "music finds its home in spite of us"... I think this holds true for every form of art.
yea. art finds it home - your are domenico. we are like channels for a higher Creative power. we don't always know what we are creating and what it is for! as far as simplicity goes - i will keep working at that. I appreciate your style man! thanks for stopping by! dan
This a beautiful composition.
The vocal and guitar parts are really walking hand in hand through the all songs, it makes me thinking of two persons walking closely on a sand beach at sunset.
This song is pure poetry.
And I of course loved the sound of the Romanian language: it is such a musical language.

Hi MrNomad,
Thanks for the new track. Something different this times: the synth sounds here are more "impulsive". Interesting.
Few notes around...
~0:40 I like the "paml muted" notes, they create an interesting rhythmic pattern. Good.
~1:20 Nice "crescendo" with "strange sounds"... one of them seems almost a human voice.
~2:00 I didn't like too much the "bell" sound, but it worked fine to introduce the next section.
~2:30 the drummer goes crazy for few seconds... the first time you listen to the track it sounds strange, but later I recognized this is just an appetizer of what will come later.... funny. Liked it.
~3:00 I won't say much about the guitar here. I think this is one of your trade marks. You have many, you are a lucky guy ;-)
Only one remark: I think the initial volume is a bit too high. Only for the first few notes.
~4:30 the thing that I like most in this fast section is the end. I like how it resolves into a new "chilly section".
From now on, no big surprises.
Well done.
All in all, probably not a "memorable" song but a very good one.
I started to like your music some months ago, even if I think your are not really "writing songs": your tracks are more layer of sounds one on top of the other used to provoke feelings.
But whatever, who cares: the important thing is that I like it. Period.
Ciao, Domenico
Greetings. Best review so far is from you. Good detail and thoughts.
Not sure what you mean by the synth sounds being more impulsive.
"0:40 I like the "paml muted" notes"
Yes, well noticed. I am doing palm muting because I'm playing triplets with fingers and want the notes to be very staccato so the muting is for the close control to make the notes staccato.
1:20 human voice.
Maybe. I have lots of synth sounds in my tracks that sound a little like voices - sometimes human, sometimes animal.
"2:00 I didn't like too much the "bell" sound"
I guess the bell sound you're taking about is the synth instrument that has a bell sound to it. I like it and the melody it's playing.
2:30 yes you're right about the double time drum fill making more sense when you hear the heavier, faster stuff later. However, even without the later drums changes, I still think it sounds good. Double/half time is cool - just as long as it's in time!
3:00 my signature resonator guitar. Hope it's not boring. I use it in many tracks but play it over so many genres that I hope it's presented in a new, interesting way.
I hope I have lots of trademark sounds. Can't say I really invented any but maybe it's just the way I use them that stands out.
Yes, fast section drop back down to the regular tempo chill is good.
"I think your are not really "writing songs": your tracks are more layer of sounds one on top of the other used to provoke feelings."
I agree. They're definitely not songs. Just me being creative with sounds and instrument playing and arranging etc. I'm just exploring things I haven't heard people do before and enjoying and celebrating some of the great sounds I'm able to use and combine in new, strange ways.
I hope it is a memorable track for some people. I try to make every track like that. DOn't want to make simple, easy pop music that sounds like too many other people.
Wow! This is really good!
I am not sure how much "room for changes" you have on the vocal part: if possible, you should try to get it a bit cleaner (like proposed by Evan).
A possible approach would be to have the same vocal part on two tracks: one of them will stay "almost dry" and the other can get the effects you need (and you can also apply a subtle detune to this latter one).
Also, what I often do, instead of applying the delay to the whole vocal part, I cut the bits I want to get delayed and I put them on a separate track: so the delay effect is only on a special vocal track. This is all to keep the original vocals so "intelligible" as possible.
You did a wonderful job with the guitar sound: simply beautiful! Both clean and distorted sounds work incredibly well.
So, please let me join the others in faving this song: this is one of the greatest songs on looperman ever (top 10? maybe...I need to think about it, but top 50 for sure)
Looking forward to hearing your new songs, but be aware: you set the bar very high ;-)
Ciao, Domenico
Hey D,
thanks for that much praise glad you like, fixed the vocals ,hope it sounds a bit cleaner :)thanks again for turn in and have a listen, by the way the bar is very high and there is a lot a work to do for my next rock project i´ll try to set the bar a little higher,(possibly) we´ll see, nice review

Hi Spiv,
Another good one! You know I like when you sing :-)
A lot of good words have already been spent on this one, so I won't say much.
I completely second the comment of MrValveDriver.
If we're looking for "comparisons", definitely the TalkingHeads brought up by MrPJB are one possibility but I won't forget about Devo as well.
That said... I will now download and re-listen to this many times ^_^
Ciao, Domenico
Hey Dom, thanks for stopping in! Your comment made me happy when I read it, I always appreciate your opinions on my work. Hadn't really thought of the Devo parallel, but I think I get it after all. The album will in all likelyhood be released this Sunday, so hope you watch for that. Thanks again my friend!
Ciao mrwolf14, hope things are well with you and the family.
Thanks for the nioce compliment on this track. We tried very hard to make it sound like the orginal. I guess it paid off.
How could I not listen this? I *love* King Crimson!
And some echoes of KC can be heard here... not too much though. But that's good. This is an original work.
The start is good.
I enjoyed a lot the next section, nice bass work ;-)
And a good usage of the keyboards. Liked.
Then we have a section with a marked rhythm that will accompany us for a while. Good.
Then some good riffs, with a good ratio "strange" to "bluesy" scales. Liked as well.
Ciao, Domenico
Good! Liked it a lot.
It has groove: liked the bass work here.
Superb guitar work: a lot of little things "running in the background"
The key-change works fine: it kind of breaks the track in two sections and keeps the hear awake (...and as you mentioned in your comment, probably you need it to join two other songs)
The final "unisono" scale is tasty: liked!
Ciao, Domenico
PS: at 1:53 you have a "noise" on one of the guitar tracks (plectrum noise?) ... nothing disturbing by the way
Hi Billy,
It was time for me to listen again to one of your songs... thanks for providing this one! I enjoyed it. Very good track, as usual man.
I like a lot the initial piano part, very dreamy. And I like contrasts, so it was a pleasant surprise to hear the next section with the "short-synth" notes.
On top of all this, your voice, powerful and "interesting" as usual.
Thanks!
Ciao, Domenico
Mr.Wolf,
It was a surprise to hear from you. Thanks for listening and commenting. Always appreciated, yes the piano intro was meant to be like that to set the scene of the movie(in my head) before the contrasts kick in. I was also experimenting on chopping my voice and adding different filters.
Anyway well done Germany(your country) on the soccer world cup thrashing Brazil - was unbelievable their skills, very clinical. Stay strong Wolfman. Achtung! - Mr.Dragon
Hi MrEvisma,
This is a good song. Very good.
Your bass is more in the background this time, but the melodies you play on the acoustic guitar are working very well. At 1:08 we have some very "bassish" lines though ;-)
The section starting at 1:42 is my favorite moment: I like how it gets introduced and here everything is "perfect". A wonderful moment.
What I did not like is the synth sounds that follows (starts at 2:14) ... I think this melody is a bit too "simple", which wouldn't be a problem per se but doesn't work with the "fat dance lead" synth sound (IMVHO).
One suggestion: I like the ending piano, but it would be nice to repeat it a couple of times more, adding a delay (with fade in, not all at once).
Just an idea...
Again: thanks for sharing this track with us! Very good level as usual from you (actually no, it's even better than your usual stuff...)
Ciao, Domenico
Acid... yes, definitely this is "acid" :-)
I have to admit that this is not my favorite song of yours, but at the same time I have to agree with what other Loopers already wrote: you are never short of creativity and your bass lines are always killer ones!
So, not my cup of tea, but nevertheless a good listen.
Ciao, Domenico
Thank you friend for leaving a nice comment, even though the song isn't up your alley so to speak. Was really just trying some different things, and I liked what it turned out as, so I shared it. Glad some people are enjoying it at least. Happy that you liked the bass, that's definitely important in an acid song. I appreciate you listening!
Very interesting track!
You used good vocal parts (I like the voice of our DJSZ) and complimented them with a superb guitar work.
Really outstanding:
- I love a lot the guitar sound (in some moments it's very close to VHalen)
- you alternate more "energic" sections with more epic ones (for these, BlindGuardian is a name that comes to my mind, but you keep your own original style). Very Good!
For me, this was a real discovery: one "avatar" more that I need to follow ;-)
Ciao, Domenico
Hi MrDestero,
Nice track. An interesting variation on the "chill-out" theme.
Liked.
You have a good guitar in the intro (very good... it's you playing it?)
Interesting "clock" sound introducing the beat. Liked it.
Very powerful (loud?) drums, but that's fine.
I am not too fond of the snare roll at 1:50: that's nothing wrong with it, but I find it "not on par" with the rest of the material (which is very good).
Catchy rhythm guitar at 1:56: simple but very effective. Liked it a lot.
I would lower a bit the volume of the choir in this section: gothic is nice, but maybe being a bit more subtle wouldn't be bad.
The "middle part" is a bit long, but that's not necessarily bad: this rhythm is really cool.
Nice guitar solo: good tone, a bit "shy" but that fits very well this song.
Interesting vocal part at 4:00 (it's you singing? if yes, you have a very interesting voice...)
Overall: I enjoyed it a lot.
Very good.
Ciao, Domenico
Hi Domenico,
thanks for turning in,the Guitar and Vocals are not by me but thats only a question of Time, still in progress!!
yeah the choir is a bit to loud i´ll fix this immediately, the snare roll is a DRO-quirk (for my own style)maybe i try to change it, we´ll see, nice review:)
Cheers,
Marco
Hi MrJsYoung,
Thanks for posting this very interesting track of yours.
First of all, I liked it, a lot. One of the most interesting things posted around here in a while.
Glad to have found you.
I will keep an eye on you ;-)
A couple of words on the track:
- it starts immediately and it starts with the most powerful section; good: straight to the point.
- nice interplay between bass/guitar at 0:30; here the drums are a bit in the background but that's more than OK.
I would say this is the song's main Theme (is this the phantom speaking?)
- good change at 1:14; I like the "first note" with the doubled guitar on thirds giving it a broader sound. It's a small thing, but such details make the difference.
- very funky bass part... how could I not love it ^_^
- at 2:06 we have a killer guitar solo; we have good licks, some wha, a bit of tapping and even "doubled-guitars" at 2:37 ... what do you want more? good
- the reprise of the "metal" riff works very well. liked
- weird scale at 4:10 ... liked it a lot
- nice ending, a bit abrupt but it works very well here
(did I like the fading keys? not so sure... but that's not important)
One possible thing to be improved: I like songs which are not over-compressed, but maybe a little more compression could help your track. I would also try to compress the drums separately on their bus, just to see if you can improve something that is already VERY GOOD.
Ciao, Domenico
Beautiful production.
You did a wonderful work of "simplifying" everything and letting the qualities of this song shine through.
Every choice you took serves perfectly "the track".
Maybe I would have lowered a bit the volume of the "gimme the night"s around 2:10, but the song works so well as it is.
Special mention: your guitar solo, short & straight to the point :-) Loved it.
Thanks for sharing such beautiful piece of music with us.
Ciao, Domenico
Thank you so much for your comments - much appreciated. I am particularly knocked out with your observation regarding the "simplifying" and "letting the qualities of the song shine through". It is always rewarding when fellow loopers really pick up on an aspect of the production I have been aiming at. Thank you. I am also very chuffed with your comments on the solo. Again you hit the nail right on the head!!
this is weird, in a good way.
I liked the dark atmosphere. The guitar in the final part is a nice touch: it's not fitting the rest of the song, but in a good way (it adds some "tension" with some slow riffs, I liked it)
What I didn't like too much are the sound-fxs you used, but I am not a big fan of them, so I am not the best one to judge here ;-)
Overall, this is a very good song!
Ciao, Domenico
Thanks Domenico,
every Reply is welcome, your´s too,yes sound fx and his child i try to reach a good balance about:)thats not easy coz ,some need a lot fx and others say no fx or only minimal. What ever!!

New music coming soon...

Ciao, Domenico
thanks for that much praise glad you like, fixed the vocals ,hope it sounds a bit cleaner :)thanks again for turn in and have a listen, by the way the bar is very high and there is a lot a work to do for my next rock project i´ll try to set the bar a little higher,(possibly) we´ll see, nice review

It was a surprise to hear from you. Thanks for listening and commenting. Always appreciated, yes the piano intro was meant to be like that to set the scene of the movie(in my head) before the contrasts kick in. I was also experimenting on chopping my voice and adding different filters.
Anyway well done Germany(your country) on the soccer world cup thrashing Brazil - was unbelievable their skills, very clinical. Stay strong Wolfman. Achtung! - Mr.Dragon
on Jason Only Gets Two Hits by Evisma

I take your comments very seriously, and they are appreciated. My only bass player friend.
Take care Domenico.

I have to admit that this is not my favorite song of yours, but at the same time I have to agree with what other Loopers already wrote: you are never short of creativity and your bass lines are always killer ones!
So, not my cup of tea, but nevertheless a good listen.

Very good.
Ciao, Domenico
thanks for turning in,the Guitar and Vocals are not by me but thats only a question of Time, still in progress!!
yeah the choir is a bit to loud i´ll fix this immediately, the snare roll is a DRO-quirk (for my own style)maybe i try to change it, we´ll see, nice review:)

Many thanks.
