Wonderful track: funky with some sadness.
The work on the guitar is really outstanding: the solo at 1:11 is "tormented" at the right point.
The only thing I am not too fond of is the drum-part: it sounds a bit too "drum-machine-like". But I say the same on many tracks from the Sign-o-the-Times album... so it may just be my problem :-)
Ciao, Domenico
Thanks...Mr.
Tormented...Have not heard that in a long time, " I was very much so"
not so much any more these days... :-)
All the guitar sounds and the drums, are the ( Digitech-RP355 )
this was one of the first tracks, I did with this Processor...
It has about 40 different Drum Kits and all the variations there of
sound wise...
Now I just use the click track, to lock BPM's to a track...
Every now and then I may use a cymbal crash or something
but that's it...For Drums now I use the Alesis-SR18 much more
flexible in every way...
Interesting ... a charming and dark piece of music.
I like the sound of the guitar: is it a real guitar or a VST?
Either way... good song.
Ciao, Domenico
Hi MrEpicRecord,
The mix is not too bad: the song has definitely a lot of potential.
You can make really good pop songs: nice guitar lines and enjoyable vocals.
It would be interesting to hear how you "redo" this: I can imagine that you can improve several aspects of the song.
Ciao, Domenico
Hi MrEvan,
Once more I have to repeat myself... very good track.
Brilliant arpeggio in the intro: very effective.
Then the song starts and it has a good drive: good solid rock. Liked
The first stop is very interesting: at 1:47 we have a "main" bass line which steals the show, good. The guitar work is good as well, but the bass is the "champion" here.
A second iteration of the first "verse": it really goes well. I like that you did not "overdo" it and you quickly go back to the "funkier" groove... and from here to the end.
Good song.
Ciao, Domenico
If you were repeating yourself saying "very bad track", then I would worry.
I wanted to get back to the bass guitar. Ever since I got the six-string, it's been my Sirenum Scopuli. I've been drawn to it every day, and the bass has been a bit neglected.
Glad to not have overdone it. I was right on the edge of that.
Wonderful song... very hard to decide which instrument did a better job... guitar? drums? sax? piano? ... I forgot to mention Patricia's voice...
I would just say "kudos to the team"!
Ciao, Domenico
Thank you so much, Domenico. Always a pleasure to receive your comments. So glad you can appreciate our little team as we all enjoy working with eachother.
what a wonderful bass line!!!
Loved it!
My personal highlight: the intro (the first bars with bass & drum at fulls steam are a real killer!)
Ciao, Domenico
Really glad you like it and took the time to comment. Being a drummer, I have always loved a bass and drum break-down in a good funk or rock song. Glad you do also.
Hi MrHLowe,
Good work with the guitar... it adds a nice layer and makes the song a bit more "pop-rock" than dub-step.
At 2:28 and 3:08 we can appreciate the sound you have: good! Very good! (just out of curiosity, is this a VST-amp?)
If possible, you made the wonderful voice of Carole shining even more.
Thanks!
Ciao, Domenico
Hi Carole,
So good to hear again your wonderful voice!
So ... dubstep is not my cup of tea... but I love the chord progression and the melody that you sing on it.
Good ... very good.
The change at 1:58 is a real nice touch. And from there the 3 vocal tracks that work together... Loved it!
Thanks again for sharing your talent with us.
Ciao, Domenico
Hi MrNomad,
Again...you surprise me with something different.
I would say that the Nomad's-Touch in this one is mainly on the bass lines... they are really "distinctive".
My favorite moment: ~3:00 ... this is very 80s
The "string-solo" in the end is also very tasteful and totally unexpected from you. But good.
Liked this song.
Ciao, Domenico
PS: you know that the last "unwanted notes" fit nicely in the fade-out?
Yes, something a bit different for me, as is always my aim Probably because of the use of all these drum loops and more of a focus on chillout dance music. But still some of my signature sounds in there eg the slide solo.
The filtered, arpeggiated (bowed) violins you can hear in quite a few of my tracks. Pretty much the same sound but always playing different melodies. Some of the very best are in here, especially in the last 90 seconds - my favourite section. That's just a return to violin parts heard earlier in the track but this time I do more with them.
"My favorite moment: ~3:00 ... this is very 80s"
Aha, I think you have chosen the funk section as your favourite. I'm not hearing it as being particularly 80s but I did enjoy playing that delicate clean funk stuff. Lots of chopping up and reordering of the bass and guitar parts but the end result is good, though not perfect.
"you know that the last "unwanted notes" fit nicely in the fade-out?"
I still haven't got round to removing those export error notes. Here's what they are:
Listen to 3:15 and you will hear some gentle high notes come in. That's an arpeggiated sequence heard a few times afterwards. It plays all the time, I just fade the volume up when I want it to be heard.
On export, the last second had the volume of that part mistakenly turned up so that's why it's heard. Yes, that sequence could easily fit in the outro but I'm not sure it's necessary. I have since thought of a way I could include those notes but I don't think I need to. That sequence is heard enough in other parts of the track so it's important not to overdo it.
Yes, the distinctive basslines probably do have the Nomad touch. That same bass synth patch can be heard in lots of my tracks but it doesn't seem to get boring. It's really just a very useful bass sound and it's the main bass in the jazz metal track I'm still working on (it used to be part of this track).
Bassline starting at 5:45 keeps reminding me of New Order's Blue Monday - probably one of the greatest club tracks ever made. And it's by a proper band so it's much more interesting than most dance tracks.
Glad you liked this one as I thought maybe it wouldn't be your sort of thing. I thought maybe there was too much synth and not enough guitar for you.
It may be a while till my next upload as I'm working on a few difficult tracks right now and am far off completing any of them.
Hi Spiv,
So good to hear something "made from you" ... and this time in all senses!
It is funny how "pop" is this song: I think this is one of your "easiest" tracks, it is really musical and "pleasant" while reading your description (and knowing you) I was expecting something more "extreme".
Of course, the sounds you used can be defined "harsh" but once put in your mix they get very enjoyable.
Liked it.
Liked it a lot.
Ciao, Domenico
For some reason, I thought that I had replied to this comment already. I must have been just thinking about your words a lot since you posted this. I'm actually pretty pleased that you found it somewhat pop, as I don't think most people would agree. I think mostly I've just been getting a more trained ear, as well as trying new things each time I bring a song to completion. I really appreciate harsh sounds in a clear sounding final product. Thank you so much for the feedback!
Very well done.
As someone already mentioned, wonderful guitar sound.
The vocal track is clear and "on spot".
Good dynamics.
What can I say? This is a very well made pop song.
Good job!
Ciao, Domenico
I have to quote Alex on this: "very stylish production"
You did wonderful job with the mixing: even my humble work sounds better in this context. THANKS!
Ciao, Domenico
Domenico I could have not done it with out you. Your Bass playing is great!, and it fits so nicely with the tune.
I can not thank you enough for your assistance with this tune.
Your bass track made the song.
Hi Rico,
This song has a good and pleasant flow.
I like the choice of the synth sounds and the usage of different melodic elements to keep the interest of the listener.
Well done!
Ciao, Domenico
Hi MrEpic,
Very "enjoyable" song: lot of potential of becoming a real chart hit.
Simple yet very effective arrangement.
On the mix... I think the guitar is a bit overpowered during the verse: the singer has a good dynamic and he (you?) delivers a very good chorus, but during the verse the instruments should leave some more space to him (IMVHO).
But this is a minor thing.
I liked the song: very well done!
Ciao, Domenico
I actually agree with you, Mr. Wolf. It's just a hair too loud, but I don't have my old rig anymore so I can't change it haha. Appreciate the feedback.
Hi Alex,
The guitar is veeeeery good! Credits to MrZank for playing it and to you for bringing it to "life". Very good!
I like a lot the way you build keys counterparts to keep the track "bouncing" around, never boring. Excellent!
Genius touch: the idea of a short pause after the first part ... simply beautiful!
A song I really liked.
Ciao, Domenico
Hi MrEvan,
I really like this new song of yours!
The title is "ironic" and well fitting the track.
Not so fond of the synth sound starting at 1:49.
Some typical Evisma signature "riff" around 1:37 (very KingCrimson-ish ... liked it a lot!)
Not a big fan of the marimba, but it feels good on this track.
Lot of things going on for such a short track... but this is good!
Ciao, Domenico
Hi MrAlex,
A wonderful relaxing track:
- everything is simply "perfect"
- the guitar is tasteful and works very well in this context... kudos to MrFranco...but this is nothing new ;-)
- good work on the keys: they keep the song "moving" and interesting
Are you planning to release this song somehow?
Very good work.
Ciao, Domenico
Thank you Domenico for a nice comment. Yes, for sure I will be releasing complete albums in a long perspective at some point in the future. I have many tracks ready to go but they are stylistically very different. If you want to have this song contact me via my lm profile. I can send you also my newest song, unlike this smooth jazzy one here it is a bit more aggresive and changing: https://soundcloud.com/promenade2239/wave-blues-feat-toneart-and-taratoxic
Hi MrShawn,
Killer vocal track with very little assistance from the beat... but honestly your flow is so smooth that you don't need any embellishment to make it working.
Good!
Ciao, Domenico
Hi MrPromenade,
Great track.
I like the 70s feeling on the drums...nice touch integrating some percussions as well (without overdoing it).
The work on the key and way it "interact" with the guitar, together with the usage of the sound FX is amazing.
It remembers me a bit of Jaffa's Elevator.
Of course, MrFranco is "at high level" as usual.
Again, really a great track.
Ciao, Domenico
Thank you MrWolf for some nice words.
I will check out Jaffa' Elevator. Happy you liked the production and it is really nice to hear such a kind feedback.
I have a new song with ferryterry - with even more interesting guitar and piano playing: a minor blues jam track. I will post it later today.
Thanks again for listening and very nice review. It is appreciated. Best, Alex
Hi MrBlu (or should I call you MrEther?)
Very good track.
I like the "subtle" change at 1:15 and the subsequent slow synth melody.
Maybe the sounds around 3:05 are a bit too "dance-ish" for my taste, but this is only my personal point of view. And there are enough good things in this track to make me love this part as well :-)
Around 4:00 the atmosphere is a bit "depeche mode" (don't ask me why, but that's what I feel here).. good :-)
I like a lot the crescendo in the final section, which leads then to the closure of the song. Good.
Good choice of sounds and the arrangement works well: the song is never boring (this is not always the case with "electronic" music).
Hi MrRadical,
Good track! I know that we must credit a lot to the bass loop from MrF... this is soooooo funky.
But we cannot ignore the wonderful job you have done here: everything works very well and the resulting track is really a mixture of the genius of two good musicians.
Very well done!
Ciao, Domenico
PS: I really like the "moving synth" phrases you build (e.g. 4:02)
Interesting... bizarre but interesting :-)
Actually this is not so "bizarre": very good sounds and good orchestration.
Have you used loops or synths?
Either way, good track, some cinematic moments (e.g. 1:00) and good change of mood throughout the song.
Ciao, Domenico
Hi MrEpicRecord,
Nice pop song.
I like the vocal part: good voice. Maybe not too "original" lines, but they work well.
The only part that was not "on par" according to me is the beginning of the rap section (1:54) ... a couple of words seem not to really fit the "flow".
Lovely piano arpeggio: simple yet effective. Liked.
The overall sound quality is definitely not bad.
So, this one shows some talent!
Ciao, Domenico
