Description : This track is based on the Randy Crawford "Chill Night Mix" and features the amazing talent that is Pauline Wright - a wonderful vocalist.
All done in Logic X with Superior Drummer for the kit and most other patches coming from Logic. My cheap and cheerful Strat copy for the solo and I even get in on the backing vocals in the middle section.
Hope you enjoy it and as always comments very welcome.

beautfull , stylish & calm ..with a well designed moderateness and pleasurable softness of a throughbred & sane mentality of composition . best wishes Richie Win , nice to have U back after a while .____Behnam
It's good to be back and nice to see you again. Thank you for your kind words which are most appreciated. You sum up the mood of the song so well and I'm glad you liked it. Comments like "beautiful, stylish and calm" are very rewarding. Thank you.
I see I`m way late catching up with this one.....dont change a thing....you hit this one out of the park man.....the lady is great on vocals (like the harmony bits too)...very smooooooth indeed and you`ve place the instruments (spracely) around your starring lady about perfect from my perspective....top notch Richie...as we have come to expect from all you do.....Ed
Damn, man. This IS chill. It's about as far off to the opposite end of the spectrum from my usual tastes, but, even so, it's not out of my realm of enjoyment. I mean, I listen to Sade. Sometimes. As luck would have it, I'm in kind of a chill mood tonight, so this goes well with the mood.
Thanks for sharing this with us. It's a quality piece, that I'm sure I'll be listening to again sometime, mister!
Take care.

Thank you so much for stopping by and posting your comments. Much appreciated. OK the chorus is the section just before the solo? We'll it's Pauline and my good self helping out with a couple of harmony parts. The solo? Yes that's me. Glad you enjoyed the track and thanks again for the kind words.
Yes beautiful. Less is def more, letting the vocal shine in simplicity and clarity and very restrained. I always want to to fill in the gaps too much, so nice to hear the space in this...although a distant sax somewhere...? :)
Yes a distant sax somewhere would have been good but I felt maybe a bit predictable too. The guitar solo was a challenge and I didn't want to overpower the song in any way. Nice you have commented on the space and "less is more". Many thanks for stopping by and posting comments. Much appreciated.
Beautiful production.
You did a wonderful work of "simplifying" everything and letting the qualities of this song shine through.
Every choice you took serves perfectly "the track".
Maybe I would have lowered a bit the volume of the "gimme the night"s around 2:10, but the song works so well as it is.
Special mention: your guitar solo, short & straight to the point :-) Loved it.
Thanks for sharing such beautiful piece of music with us.
Ciao, Domenico
Thank you so much for your comments - much appreciated. I am particularly knocked out with your observation regarding the "simplifying" and "letting the qualities of the song shine through". It is always rewarding when fellow loopers really pick up on an aspect of the production I have been aiming at. Thank you. I am also very chuffed with your comments on the solo. Again you hit the nail right on the head!!
This is absolutely one of my favorite songs from back in the day. I have not heard the RC version, but I have heard George Benson's version. Your version here ain't shabby at all, my friend! Great job!
Yeah man, this is nice! I thought I had never heard of the vocalist, but then got to a part of the song and the memories came back instantly! Had forgotten about this song completely. I'm especially fond with the guitar solo you did, it's smooth and toneful! Sometimes it's a fine line between chill out and pop music, and I think you're walking the line expertly in this track! Very good sounding mix, and I enjoyed listening this morning with a little iced coffee. Fine work!
Thank you so much for stopping by and posting your comments. Much appreciated particularly the compliment on the solo which I found a real challenge trying not to overpower the track. Iced coffee and this track sounds a great combination!
Hey Richie....Whoa man,Chill Out is so appropriate, this just nails the mood from note one!I love this version,it's beautifully suspended with acres of poise and space just dripping with fluid cool...superb vocals from Pauline Wright, she has her presence dial turned way up and the richness of her voice hits the sweet spot about mid pitch, the more I listen to it the more I'm digging it (second time is even better,awesome!)....fantastic mix worthy of a separate critique,it just steps off the curb and floats out of my monitors,brilliant....usually I would rave on about guitar solos and how impressive they are (the good one's that is! lol)however this one deserves a special mention, not so much as to what's going on as to what it achieves within the arrangement, the timing is so good it releases the static electrical buildup of the sexy vocals and lets the song literally bloom....excellent work mate, everytime I listen to one of your tracks I smile.
Dave
It's great to hear from you and thanks for stopping by and reviewing this track. I am always knocked out by comments that refer in detail to specific elements of a production and your perceptions of what I try to achieve with my work are always on the money. Yes I really wanted it to be "empty" in places and believe "less is more" can work very well. Pauline is becoming very comfortable in the studio (can you believe she never did any recording until recently?) and her talents are beginning to shine through very strongly. She is an absolute delight to work with. Thanks for the comments on the solo too. It was a challenge trying to play something that lifted the track without overpowering it. So pleased it sounds good on your system too.
Mate impressive work you have here, excellent clarity and arrangement, you have use the vocals perfectly, I'm a little with Soundhound about you using them copyright wise, even loading here to the loop is taking a risk, suppose just hope they never come here to check out tunes lol...Apart from that man you have done brilliantly with this tune...Fav and respect...Peace...Mosaic...
Thank you so much for your kind words and I am knocked out with your comments regarding the clarity and the arrangement. Very rewarding for me to hear such positive feedback.
Thank you so much for stopping by and posting comments. Glad you liked the jazzy feel and yes, I agree, a really nice sax solo would have worked well with the track. I kind of spoilt it all with my guitar solo eh?!!!! My friend Charlie is a saxophonist so I'll see what we can do.
First thing that comes into mind is the flawless mix. It is open en crisp and I really love what you've done. Just read the comment on the guitar, I think it has the perfect spot in the mix as it is, but I know that a lot is deciced by just taste.
Nice touch on the rim shot when the guitar is playing, gives a bit more power when needed.
If I would have to make up one comment, it would be on the EP. It plays the same chords in the same way during a big part of the track. It might be a noce addition to have it syncoped (is that the right word?) every now and then, so have it play a short chord on the 2nd 16th and a long one on the 4th or 5th.
Apart from that, flawless track. If it would be available in wav, I would download it imiediately :-)
Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and post comments. I appreciate it.
Your view of the mix is exactly as I intended and "open and crisp" just hit the nail on the head for me. It's sometimes about less being more and keeping it simple. On that tack I guess the piano part does just sit there the whole way through and doesn't really go anywhere else so I take your point. Nice you notice the change in drum part over the solo too.
Contact me through the Loop if you want a wav file of the track. Happy to send it to you.
Richie, you plus the talents of Pauline, what an amazing combination. I loved the original version of this one, but have to say you have improved it with this one.
Everything about this one screams hit record. Mix is amazing, your playing is amazing, absolutely flawless production.
Nothing to do here but smile and marvel at your talents man. As good as it gets Richie. A beautiful interpretation of a classic. Thanks so much for the download as well. It will be listened to many, many time.
Great to see you here and thank you so much for your very kind words. It's always good to read your comments and know how much you have enjoyed listening to the track and appreciating how much effort goes in. Much appreciated.
Good to hear a new one from you, but what a new one...man, it's brilliant...top prod in every segments of this business...top voice, top mix, top guitars, top song...what else we want? more success for you...you deserve it...
Nice track, good voice and mix put together in a cool way...
Don't know about CopyRights, don't think you can go anywhere
with it without permission...
Unless the song is in the Public Domain not sure if that's
the case just yet...
Yes..By doing the tune you have put it in the Public Domain
on this site...
But if you try to run with it, the boys will pull your chain and hard...
Thanks for the comments on the voice and mix - cool is good in my book! Don't worry, it's not going anywhere other than here on Looperman so I hope not to have my chain pulled! Thanks for your concern and advice.
I am an old git and I remember this song well. However, what a blissful cover you have come up with. Sounds beautiful and the lady has a voice. Just a little bit stronger on the strings, not much and you've cracked it. I love this.
Us "old gits" tend not to forget such great songs like this. That said this was Pauline's idea and she is but a mere young thing! Anyway glad you liked the track (blissful is praise indeed). Mixes are such a personal choice and I do hear what you say about the strings. I just wanted to have them sitting "in" rather than "on" the track. I appreciate your comment on the "emotional" context too and I have to agree - it's a lovely vocal performance with real soul.
Thanks for stopping by and posting comments. It's much appreciated.
Now we're cooking! I don't see you here much, but when I do I always know I'm about to hear some quality work, and this is no exception. I've only heard the George Benson version of this song, but you've given it a whole other dimension. And lastly, the beautiful vocals of Pauline.
I've been so busy renovating the house after our relocation back to UK. It's almost complete so I'm getting a bit more time in the studio. So pleased you enjoyed the track and thanks for the compliments on Pauline's vocal. She will be very pleased with that.
Thanks for stopping by and posting comments - much appreciated.
This is a nice bit of what i call summer time music. I'd most definitely let this one out at a garden party. The vocals really suit the track but at the same time it completely differs from the original (which i always like in a cover) It's really professionall done as all your pieces are.
Now i'm just going to kick back and finish my smoke whilst i listen to the rest.
Wonderfull piece of music.
FR
I am really very grateful for your comments on the track. It's good to have such positive feedback and to know how our efforts are appreciated. The arrangement is very much based on the Randy Crawford Chill Mix but with a few additions of our own. Glad you liked it.
Hey Richie! Glad to see you around these parts again and to hear that the work is almost done at the house, that must be a relief. I remember this one when it came out but can't recall who did it. I haven't heard the version you mentioned that this one is styled after so I can give you a pretty unbiased review.
This is very laid back and simplified as far as the music goes, maybe even r n b in a way. When it started I gad no idea what song it was, the piano run at the beginning was a nice touch. Pauline has a beautiful and clean sounding voice, love her rendition.
Mix is fantastic, like where you put the vocals, maybe lead and fills could be a little louder, I mean if you got got it flaunt it, lol. The tracks sounds great, totally love this chilled version.
Yes, almost two years with a paintbrush in my hand! It's nearly there so I'm getting a bit more time in the studio now. Should be back to producing music on a regular basis soon.
Thanks for the positive comments and your thoughts on the mix and my guitar parts. I mentioned in an earlier response (see djkillapaul's comments above) how subjective and personal a mix is and I do appreciate your thoughts on having the guitar fills a bit further forward. For me it sits nicely without overpowering and I guess my overall approach is very much "less is more". Anyway, good to hear from you and I hope all is well. I'm sure we will catch up again sometime soon.
Best regards
Richie

Description : Sounds of the sea and trippy acidy washes with a cool beat and some live acoustic guitar. Written in Cubase with live guitar and keys etc. The sound of the sea and birds was recorded on the beach where I used to live. After moving to the city one sunny day I was telling stories to a friend about living by the sea and started making this track.
Description : This improv recorded a few years ago powered my interest even further than I expected.....recorded using tc electronics pedal and tascam studio recorder and a Fender Squier tele electric....
Description : I used some new "Anthem" pickups from L.R. Baggs on my Martin acoustic to see how it performed, and it definitely beat my expectations. Captured the sound perfectly as I needed.
Anyhoo, this song is almost a prayer, hence the repetitiveness of the verses. As Christians, we believe that God will one day return and take away every suffering and all evil for good; in that regard, this song is almost one of waiting too. Very simple, with vocal harmonies and whatnot. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did making it. Made in 13 hours.
Someone else wrote the words, I was just inspired to use them. I only added the "Yeah" and "Amen."
Description : This is a track off of one of my EP's I dropped last year. It is based on True events. Sometimes when people finally take a second in life to slow down and breathe in..... The oxygen is deflated and it's too late. Take your time people, because time is what differs a good decision over a bad one. Life is precious!

Description : So a guy buys a nice guitar at a pawn shop but returns it a few days later after waking from a sound sleep to hear it playing by itself. When he tells of his experience he is shocked to learn the owner had actually died while playing it. Is it fantasy or truth? Is the guitar in this track that very same guitar? Its all part of the mystery and fun of Halloween !
EDIT: modified ending to a deeper voice
Description : This track describes a magical state that I experienced a long time ago. Maybe you also know the feeling that you can't describe something like this with words ... luckily we have the music for it!

Description : A progressive journey incorporating deep ambient chillout, swing jazz, hip hop, d'n'b, trance and a slight touch of acid with a thousand ninjas battling in space. Features a great deal of my lead slide resonator guitar playing. Also a whole load of synths, programmed acoustic drum kits and manipulated drum loops, big basslines, regular electric guitar, vocoded guitar parts and bass guitar (distorted right at the end). If you like deep chill, far out soaring beauty, fat beats and 170 BPM uplifting slide trance controlled mayhem, you might just get into this. In my heaven there is an endless supply of honey mangoes (an exquisite beauty of the fruit world) and even more slide guitar. You must be very good to be accepted into my heaven to hear the full thousand year version so best start now. It may be heaven's main theme tune but it's not above criticism so feel free to let me know what you think of it. Maybe you prefer the soundtrack in hell. I hear it's pretty badass...
