Hi MrEvan,
Liked a lot this new track of yours.
This time I would like to hear some vocals on it: I think a good vocal part may really exploit the beauty of this track.
My highlights:
- 0:40 to 1:01 this section has some real "epicness". liked a lot ... and of course its repetition as well ;-)
- 1:58 the "slap-like" bass is really working well and the melodic part that follows is a killer.
What I didn't like too much: the fadeout sounds a bit "poor" ... nice try with the drums fading out later than the rest, but I fear it is not enough for such a great track.
Ciao, Domenico
I appreciate you letting me know about the ending. It has received some attention so I hope it's better. I just didn't feel it going anywhere else so faded it out. I was pretty beat. Thanks again!!
Beautiful track, without a doubt.
Full of feelings, a touch of sadness, but lot of love.
Really good vocal part: beautiful voice, very well used and perfectly fitting the song.
The guitar part is building a wonderful carpet: I like a lot the "theme" you composed.
The part beginning at 1:37 is a real master-piece: I love how the guitar parts complement each other.
And the ending is so soft and delicate.
Beautiful. Really, simply beautiful.
Ciao, Domenico
PS: in questa canzone ho sentito molto Amore per tua Mamma. Bellissima... davvero bellissima.
Mrwolf14 thanks for the compliments. I really do apprciate them. I wish I could have gotten this one out to the loop faster but I just had to get it right. It means that much to me. I hope she hears it in Heaven ( Cielo ).
PS: Grazie per le cortesi lode sulla composizione e la mia chitarra. Essa sarÃ
perso così tanto la mia madre bella.
what a pleasant journey.
mixed perfectly (as usual) and good choice of the sounds (even if they are all loops coming from different people, they are "homogeneus" and sit perfectly in the mix)
Less disturbing than your usual things... but enjoyable all the same.
Ciao, Domenico (who is looking forward to hearing another track with Spiv's vocals)
What a kind review you've given me! Thank you! I've been experimenting a little mixing wise, and expanding my mixing style a little, so I'm happy that you still find it listenable. I like trip hop, partly because it's listeners are very open to variety in sound, tempo, and style. I'm sorry I have disturbed you in the past, though admittedly it probably won't be the last time. Been working on some new lyrics lately, so hopefully it won't be long! Thank you very much!
Good work.
Clever usage of the skills of our talented musicians. Well done.
I like a lot this vocal part: clean, with some "body" in the lower tones, very well done.
Nothing to say, just that I liked it.
Ciao, Domenico
PS: the final fadeout could be improved, a little softer on the last seconds (make it last 10 seconds longer)
Man thank you for stopping by and reviewing, sorry about late response, haven't been in the best of health, but all good now, very pleased you enjoyed the track, will consider looking at what you suggested when have some more time and see what goes...Peace n Respect...Mosaic...
How lovely this track is!
Outstanding drums/guitars, but from Scott+Franco+James... I was not expecting anything less than this ;-)
The vocal part is a bit "crazy" ... therefore I liked it even more!
Wonderful work... if I should pick up a genre, I would say "Lounge Music" (the bass & drum reminds me a bit of montefiori cocktail's stuff)
Really good.
Ciao, Domenico
PS: if you are looking for the "Baboon Moon" you may want to ask MrNilsPetterMolvaer, he may know something about it ;-)
Yeah, 'lounge' would fit, but don't think that's an option for LM, is it?
I agree, the lyrics are a bit unique. When Franco sent it to me I liked straight away. I had to split and line the pella up with the music, since it did not sync'd up too well, but it wasn't too difficult.
Beautiful song Mr MidiMan!
The vocal part is very well sung and "catchy". Maybe a more "hooking" chorus would be needed to make this a chart-hit, but it is still better than most of the things we heard in the EuroVisionSongContest this year... way better.
Outstanding guitar work: love the sound, love the solo, love this half-palm-muted rhythm. Simply perfect.
Actually your guitar part is so well done that it deserves a couple of questions:
- guitar used? (I assume something in the direction of a strato on bridge+middle position, but I may be completely off)
- amp? emulator? it really sounds sweet... (it reminds me a bit of the rocktron sound ... very 80s, a bit "Eddie-sh")
Thanks again for letting us hear this track!
unfortunately no download... but at least I can hear it online
Ciao, Domenico
Ok The song was composed my my03 also know as my05. He just asked me for a killer guitar part. Which I was honored to do for him.
The guitar is a 1980 Fender Stratocaster. Modified with a Kalher locking tremolo, seymourduncan Hot rails stacked humbucking picks up in the bridge and the others are seymourduncan strat humbuckers. I did not want to cut the body since it is a classic. The neck is the original one, I do need a fret job. :-) The amp is Amplitube and also Guitar rig. I use a Focus rite Pro 40 and DI to it. I can get some really killer sounds from it.
I do appreciate your commenting on my playing. yes I have leaned more toward Eddie and trying to add his playing style to mine. He was such a great player since Hexdrix died. He has a very original sound. Some of his riffs not all. Since then I would just be a copy cat.
I do not allow downloads since this is original maternal of ours and is owned but us.
HI MrEvan,
Already a lot said on this track, so I will just add my words of appreciations without too many details.
Very good!
Sax sound isn't the best one, but it works.
Good drumming (not outstanding but good, very good).
Superb bass playing! Somebody said tool-ish but I still think you have your unique and incredibly good own style.
If you ever touch this song again, maybe you could change the ending and make it a tad longer.
But I loved (and downloaded) it as it is.
Thanks for sharing your music.
Ciao, Domenico
Beautiful song.
Beautiful voice and good melody. Liked a lot (somebody mentioned Ozzy... I can hear some little influences from him indeed, but you definitely have your own character).
Outstanding work on the guitars: they work perfectly with your voice.
What could be improved according to my very humble opinion:
- the transition from the intro to the real song could be better (1:04) ... beautiful intro by the way
- some guitars are too quiet (2:50 to 3:04, 4:18)
- the bass sounds a bit "too" repetitive; very good idea but throwing a small change here and there would make it even better
- changing the bass sound so "dramatically" between intro and song takes out a bit of the "live band" feeling this song has (very minor thing...)
That said, I have to agree to Bear: this is one of the best things I have heard on looperman in a while.
Very well done!
Looking for more!
Ciao, Domenico
Good track. I have not much to add to what the others already wrote: I like the contrast and the tension deriving from it.
It keeps the song interesting.
Very well done.
Ciao, Domenico
Powerful riffs, well played. No doubt about it.
This sound more like a sketch than a complete song though: would be interesting to see how it develops.
Good "nasty" guitar sound, maybe a cabinet emulator could improve it further (just a thought).
Thanx dude. Ill check out some cabinet emulators on line and c what happens. Its amazing though the difference in sound quality when recording from windows xp to windows 7. Actually two different computers as well so theres a few variables but in any case my frickin guitar kissed the tile floor so now its got a broken nut so ill have to handle that. Thank you Domenico, i appreciate your time and comment.
Wow! I loved this one!
Wonderful!
You are right, there are a lot of Weather Report atmospheres in this track. Then, around 3:10 we have a Miles Davis section (Tutu era).
Respect guys!
Listening to this is pure joy!
Ciao, Domenico
PS: the final drum solo is very tasty, maybe not the best way to end a track, but I enjoyed every bit of it :-)
Thanks allot, Domenico. Glad you like it. Funny, I thought about Miles when I worked on the trumpet section, but didn't think anyone would reference it. The drums at the end is a technique I've heard on a few fusion tracks where you fade all the instruments out except one. Than fade that one out. I've used it with other instruments, but never with drums. It just seemed to feel right for that atmosphere.
Very convincing. Wonderful choice of sounds (unbelievable you did it everything with vsts...)
I like the "soft" part (eg: 1:20)
You have a lot of things going on for a less-than-three-minutes song.
Well done!
Ciao, Domenico
What a beautiful track.
The interplay between voice and guitar creates the perfect atmosphere.
And I see some "Benham touches", specially in the way you have processed some words with strange-echoes.
I also like the choice of "powerful" drums which seems almost out of place in this context, but it gives the song an interesting touch.
Loved!
Ciao, Domenico
many thnx for attention Domenico .
about the way this track was made I should describe that once I wanted to tell Mike about the way I felt those days & also about the way his guitar sounds(his guitar had a strange an unique sound if U remember) , so played this(I've named this piece Inanition) & sent for him , in reply Mike sent this vocal version & I haven't processed the words...all U hear about the words in what Mike has done & I haven't changed anything in it...just Mike(like U're like this too)always could felt & underestand my music very well and maybe that's the reason why U've thought the words process have my touches.anyway I was not supposed to share this with loopermates but this was the only collaboration of Mike with someone in looperman & the only & the best way I thought i can make the others remember Mike to appreciate what he had done for me in my bitter days ...hope we've made Mike feel good..thnx & thnx again Domenico for usefull feedback as usual.take care____B
Hi Carole,
You have been away too long!
I am glad I found this new song of yours: your voice is beautiful as usual, warm on the lower register and simply lovely on the higher tones.
I really like this "Janis71" unplugged feeling :-)
Very good!
Ciao, Domenico
I was sad to be kept away from here and I'm all the more happy to come back now that the sky's clearer.
Reading such warm words as yours make my heart smile and I thank you a lot for that.
Thx for being and letting me know you're there...
Big hug and kiss.
I love the "italian-pseudo-rap" section!
Franco should do this more often: deep and interesting voice.
And I like how it has been recorded: very warm.
Ciao, Domenico
PS: I haven't written anything about the guitar and drums, just to avoid repeating myself... excellent as usual!
Keep "rocking" guys! (or should I say "funking"?)
Thanks, Domenico. Yeah, I really dug Franco's raps, too. Originally, he didn't have this and I said he needed more vocals and he asked me to write some in English, so I did and when he sent them back to me, the rapping was added and it blew me away!
Wow! With this bass line how can I not love this track? :-)
Superb drums.
Perfect guitar: not too "present". Works perfectly in this song.
Groovy organ solo.
Good brasses.
Liked the trumpet parts.
I liked a lot of things in this one :-)
Very well done!
Ciao, Domenico
Thanks, Domenico. I found this pella the other day and laughed my ass off, so got to work on putting it together. I like the part where he says he never visits porno sites, but maybe when his girlfriend's away. Did you recognize Jeff Spicoli from the movie 'Ridgemont High.'
Great song! I like the fat bottom end: good!
And I like the 140bpm drums: they play nicely with the guitar and bass.
Very good use of the vocal part: I like it a lot!
The whole track has sets a typical A Perfect Circle atmosphere, but with a female singer. Good!
You mention in the comment you didn't get to 100%, but this is already a very good track. Very very good.
Ciao, Domenico
Hi MrWolf,
Thanks for your comment. I think I should spend some more time on the song. e.g. close the gaps between the guitar samples or play a solo guitar. But I got no patience.
Normaly I need to finish the song in one day, it's really difficult for me to get the same 'musical-mood'.
So I am very happy about your comment.
Hi Spiv,
Good to see a new one from you.
I will start telling you what I don't like: nothing!
I loved this! You create crazy sounds with that guitar... I want to hear more often. Your singing is very eighty, a bit of Bowie can be heard and some of Curtis as well (the way you use a nasal tone on the deep notes and the way you stretch the vowels).
Liked it!
Ciao, Domenico
PS: this song has way too many chord changes, the sex pistols would have never been able to play it... what? only one chord you say? but that's already too much for them :-)
[just to make it clear... I LOVE THE PISTOLS!]
Such a nice review my friend! You made me happy yesterday when I read it! I was really putting myself into the recording process this time, so it's cool to get good reactions like this. I will be trying to play more guitar in the future, I've gotten away from it mostly. Being compared to Ian Curtis and Bowie is a real honor, they are some of my favorite singers and songwriters. Glad to hear that you noticed all the chord changes, show's that you have an ear for music for sure. I've liked the Pistols for a long time too, I guess I can't help but get a little inspiration from that. Thanks very much for your supportive comments!
Hi MrNomad,
This was really a surprise! A new song below 4 minutes!
Can't really believe it... and in fact this is only a "teaser". So it's better :-)
A couple of words on what we have here: the intro is great, like these initial bass notes, almost "rough" then at 1:22 the high bass-notes are a bit "dissonant" which brings some "uneasyness" to the song, soon confirmed by the deep synth notes, which make the section darker. Liked.
And then you start your guitar solo, nice sound: in some points a bit "nasal" but always very bluesy (a "cold" type of blues, almost Gilmourish in some passages).
The sitar notes are a nice touch: subtle and gentle, they don't try to push the song somewhere else but they rather accompany your guitar as good friends. Liked it.
What I didn't like: the ending. But of course, I'll wait for the complete version ;-)
Ciao, Domenico
Some good detail in your review, as normal. Yes, amazingly short for me. This has got a lot of comments for the number of plays. It was at something like 10 comments for 30 plays - the best ratio I've ever had.
First bass you hear in this at 0:20 is synth bass. Then at 0:40 it's my processed guitar thing that I do a lot of.
1:19 it moves to bass guitar. I will try to explain the uneasiness and dissonance. This track is made on the same DAW timeline as a whole bunch of other tracks. I took some bass from another track and stuck it in there at 1:19. But that bass playing is not playing to a shuffle groove so it shouldn't really be in time. But it works OK.
Depp synth notes you mention are that synth bass again, just with a cutoff filter sweep applied to make it sound more like a synth than a bass.
I know what you mean about the slightly nasal guitar solo parts and that's an interesting word to choose. Lots of beauty but also a slightly strange feel. Yes, a bit like Gilmour and probably also like thousands of other guitarists. I don't try to sound like anyone else and don't try not to sound like anyone. Musically, I don't really know what I'm doing - I just play as I feel along with the music, always trying to do interesting things with a lot of soul and passion and groove.
You totally understood what I was doing with the sitar. That instrument is sitting on the timeline (as it features in other tracks) so I thought I'd try augmenting the guitar solo in a few places. No my intention to turn the track into an eastern/Indian thing and I don't think I did. Unusual to have sitar under a guitar solo unless you're making it a full-on Indian track.
Yes "good friends" is an accurate way of putting it.
3:08-3:10 is the best part of the solo.
Lots more to come from this one. Ending works OK here but that end fades perfectly into the start of the second half of the track and the continuation of the shuffle blues odyssey you will get to hear sometime soon.
Good tribute to one of the best bands ever.
And as pointed out by others, this has a "vague" Zep taste but it is original: this is jamming with 70s spirit in the 21st century :-)
Liked it (as usual with your tracks).
Ciao, Domenico
PS: the riff with the minor 3rd reminds me a lot of the atmosphere of a Vinicio Cappossela's song (one of my favorite italian songwriters)
Thanks much Domenico, appreciate the support and the very kind words. Yeah I ran across the drum sample and it just felt like a Zeppish track needed to be done.
Hi MrNomad,
Glad to hear a new song from you.
A lot of words have already been spent on this one, so I will keep it short.
Good track: it delivers what the title promises. Maybe my favorite StaticNomad's track. Very good indeed.
My personal highlight:
- the middle "psycho-rock" section (4:24)
- the wonderful development towards the end
crazy-rock at 7:05, stopping at 7:17
and growing once more to bring us to the end
Loved.
Ciao, Domenico
Glad you liked it. It's my heaviest track ever though I'm sure I'll do something heavier in the future.
This currently has 13 favourites - the most for any of my tracks, along with Circular Motion (the one that I describe in my track description as maybe my best ever track).
This is almost my favourite ever title. See my very first reply to hear how I came up with such a title. In terms of words and linguistics, it's a very interesting arrangement of letters and thoughts.
Ah yes 4:24 it gets a bit more psychedelic. That's not my favourite section but I of course like them all. I'm sure you liked the walking bass guitar at 4:43.
My favourite section is probably 5:29-7:17. I see that all as one thing as I keep building it. Best bit 5:50 when that new heavy riffage enters.
7:48 to the end definitely needs some more work as it feels a bit rushed as I bring a new heavy guitar riff in. I can make it more fun and interesting so will go back and do that. But I'm working on some deep shuffle blues tracks right now so only feel like working on them for the time being.
I was really looking forward to finishing this track as I've been working on it for a long time, with big breaks inbetween, trying to decide what to do next, so I'm pleased to have almost finished it.
I know some people like to work quickly but I like to take ages and really get all the pleasure I can out of a track. And the exploration and experimentation is all the learning that I do. And I make many, many tracks out of one project.
I was stuck on one project a couple of months but then went and made two full, finished new tracks out of other sections sitting on the timeline. Now I'm returning to the problem section from before and I think know some of what I have to do.
Nice chilly atmosphere. I liked it.
I think the comment on the bass notes from our good DeciBel is worth a consideration... and if you decide to change the bass line I also would recommend you to choose a slightly "deeper" bass tone.
Thanks for putting this track out of the drawer!

Good to hear from you.

And as pointed out by others, this has a "vague" Zep taste but it is original: this is jamming with 70s spirit in the 21st century :-)
Liked it (as usual with your tracks).

PS: the riff with the minor 3rd reminds me a lot of the atmosphere of a Vinicio Cappossela's song (one of my favorite italian songwriters)

but this is a song on Greek mithology, so nothing to do with your work, it just excited a link in my brain
Thanks again

Glad to hear a new song from you.
A lot of words have already been spent on this one, so I will keep it short.
Good track: it delivers what the title promises. Maybe my favorite StaticNomad's track. Very good indeed.
My personal highlight:
- the middle "psycho-rock" section (4:24)
- the wonderful development towards the end
crazy-rock at 7:05, stopping at 7:17
and growing once more to bring us to the end
Loved.

Good to hear from you.

I think the comment on the bass notes from our good DeciBel is worth a consideration... and if you decide to change the bass line I also would recommend you to choose a slightly "deeper" bass tone.
Thanks for putting this track out of the drawer!
