LOL! Can't help it. I've turned into a chick singing yearning songs for dudes.

Actually - I haven't been following anybody lately. In fact I turned off the site!

on STAND YOUR GROUND by CitizenMofo
Absolutely beautiful. Love the minimal approach, so vulnerable and personal, vocals and only guitar. We've become a society of intolerance and bigots, religion is no help either, I'll leave it at that. If we would work together, embrace each others differences then we could accomplish amazing feats, and maybe if there is intelligent life in the universe they just may contact us instead of sitting back learning what NOT to do from us. http://imgur.com/JwNw6PH Making slow progress, but here's a teaser :p

Right on, brother. Our institutions have failed us - are actively failing us. It's up to us as individuals. Just to be decent to each other. Seems we've forgotten how to do that. Lincoln had it right so long ago with his Divided House speech. And yet we still haven't learned. Mass protest is important - and necessary now - but even more important is personal kindness and decency to the people around you. As naive as that sounds. As you say, if we could do that, we could accomplish amazing feats. Because hate takes so much energy, whereas love is fuel for life. The cigar box looks really cool with the train, it's gonna be awesome. Thank you.

Any custom requests for that train tin cbg , like right or left handed, oak/maple fretboard/neck, colors or natural wood, anything special written on it (I sign and date them all and write built for 'name')? Got an oak neck blank ready to go and a maple piece ready to become a neck blank. I'll pm you to work out postage details when get to that point, will be a few weeks. Any customizations are simple when I know in advance of the build. Stay safe in those riots!!

CitizenMofo replied 27th Feb 2017 - 8 years ago
Hey man, thank you.

She's right-handed.
Oak's always been my favorite wood. I don't really care though - maple would be beautiful as well. Since oak's ready to go, maybe oak. Natural finish, please.

I think all it needs to say is:
Built for Sunny War

"The Lone Rider"

That plus the train really says it all. Your signature and date. Doesn't need my name on it.

I'll look for your instructions as to postage. Thanks!

It's not bad. I listen to a lot of Cradle of Filth and Opeth (seen both of them live a couple of times), so I appreciate dark melodic metal.
The ending's kinda cool. Loving the solo at 3.27 more :)

on Onward Toward Golgotha by ValveDriver
The title made me think of Incantation's Onward to golgotha album. Definitely as brutal and dark \m/ Good to see you hanging around again. We can always use more dark tunes!
ValveDriver
ValveDriver replied 25th Feb 2017 - 8 years ago
Burt, how are ya?

I've been a diehard metal fan across nearly all sub-genres since about 1985. Oddly enough, I've never listened to Incantation. Not by any choice, it just never happened. I may have change that!

More dark tunes to come!

Take care

Music soothes the savage beast. Peaceful protest gets alot further than violence. The country is divided and people are acting fkn insane! I'm out in the country so not much going on around here, nice and quiet just the way I like it. 'If we focus on helping each other, maybe we can climb back into the land of the sane' you speak truth right there CM. If more people would just see that. Keep doing what you do, loving the tunes!

Thank you, phatkatz. Yeah I'm too busy making music to hate anybody right now. And every time I make a new song with Sunny I feel like hugging someone instead of punching someone. So there must be something to that savage beast bit! Thanks for listening and commenting. Let's all try to stay sane and nice!

I like it better with the piano opening :p You have a guitar? How come we never hear you play it??!! Oh yeah, love how it develops further. The guitar is a nice addition, as you know how much I love guitar. No download :'( You forgot the disgusting SPLAT at the end, when your brains hit the wall and slowly slide down. Awesome TA!!!
toastedavalanche
toastedavalanche replied 28th Feb 2017 - 8 years ago
Sorry for not allowing download. There's still work to be done. I haven't even added the splat yet :p

And yes. The first instrument I ever learnt was guitar. I only play acoustic though (the lead to this was played on an acoustic guitar).

I like the minimalistic approach, just some synths playing with the drums. Has a bit of surrealistic in love feeling.
Mario
Mario replied 16th Feb 2017 - 8 years ago
Well like Mozart once said," The music is not in the notes, but in the silence between them". And that is most true.

and I like the sound of "surrealistic in love feeling" which was something I was going for as it was a valentines day contest song.
Thank You,

You only think you're going to win cuz you haven't heard my cookie tin guitar yet ;) LOL! Strong contender for sure! I LOVE music boxes!!! Loops work great for inspiring and building tunes. I like the distorted guitar chops, beautiful acoustic playing and singing. Great atmosphere. I'm getting excited to hear what Sunny can do with a homemade guitar.

Oh I used to win stuff, but those days are over. Sunny will do wonders with a homemade guitar, I have no doubt. That girl blows my mind every time we record - like we are tonight, yay! She is truly brilliant. I can't imagine a better collaborator. Anyway, thanks as always for your comment and kindness and for appreciating Sunny as much as I do!

on Rock Cover by Ben1972
Love the bluesy guitars :p Perfect the way it is! A touch of reverb does add a cool sound to vocals, and Evisma nailed it, a million dollar studio would ruin it. After studying and studying mix/mastering and not being happy with the sound I got, I decided more raw and less messed with was they way I preffered my own music.
Ben1972
Ben1972 replied 13th Feb 2017 - 8 years ago
Thanks a lot , thats exactly the way I feel when mixing / mastering , there is way too much options , knobs and controls , in the end I screwed it all up and start over ending up with a complete different sound.

Just downloaded all you harmonica loops for use in my blues tracks, thank you :D I build and play cigar box and various other homemade guitars for blues. I'll have to send you some maybe you can jam on harmonica on some in the future :D Great things come out of experimenting! Of to check out your site.

Your welcome. Would be interesting to jam on some new things.
Cigar box guitar,- yes I'd like to build me one, already have a good box and the strings but no experiance.
My Idea would be to attach the neck not in a rectangular position to the box, but somewhat diagonal. Never saw that.
Feel free to send me Your sample tracks. I can mix and master them as well in my little studio.

Pay shipping all I ask, I'll find out how much but not a big deal either way, as I don't expect it will be much for domestic shipping. I sent 8 license plates to California for a guy in Africa (I get those free too), his friend brought them to him because it was going to be $80 to send them to Africa!! $16 domestically. Another Looperman user, Designed Impression, is getting one soon too, he's also from southern California. I'll let you know when I build it, and your name (actually Sunny's) is on it ;) Mainly salvaged/free materials I get from my job at a dump, The only thing I buy is guitar tuners, piezo pickups to make them acoustic/electric, the 1/4 inch jacks and strings (cheap strings), but I build them on the job so I'm getting paid, shhh. The last 2 weeks of this month I'll be making a few. Just the joy they bring people as well as myself making them, is worth more than money to me and I'd LOVE to hear others on here playing and getting joy on an instrument I made :p I think I found Sunny's FB pg.

Thanks so much. Def Sunny's name - Sunny War. Check her out on youtube too, she's got a bunch of stuff there. This sounds like the perfect gift to show my appreciation and respect. Please let me know how much, when and where, when it's ready. I can't wait, sounds really cool. Thanks again!

Beautiful :D I love acoustic guitar!! I really need to record mine more often. Funny about the train story, I just got a Carhart tin with a train on it and I was thinking that would make a great guitar for someone that used to hop, drive or have something to do with trains. Maybe it's meant to be your's ;) I used to use Audacity as well, but was turned onto Reaper, it's free to download and use in 'Demo' mode forever, you just get this annoying splash screen asking you to buy a license. Love that slow paced lead, works beautiful over the acoustic. Live instruments have so much more of an intimate sound, love it! More please!

CitizenMofo replied 6th Feb 2017 - 8 years ago
Thanks phatkatz. I really appreciate any comment at all and especially one so nice. I'll have to check out Reaper. Hmm...that train guitar might make a great gift for Sunny. I've been thinking of what I could give her... I think maybe it's meant to be hers. I'd love to buy it if it's for sale.......

Your guitar seems a bit out of sync in places, the main riff isn't synced with the drums. the other riffs are fine. Cool tune though, would sound great with some soloing over it :D Instead of cutting the guitar off at the end why not let it ring out and decay away?

Yeah, I live near where The Rolling Stones formed. People here get upset if you don't think they're the best thing ever. So I keep my opinions to myself :P
I will definitely experiment with this sound in the future. Hope you enjoyed the movie.
