Definitely understandable Neo, for many months I didn't even touch my computers, build or play anything, slowly came back to me. Life happens to us all, for good and bad. I thought a name change was in order reflecting how things have changed in my life. Man, I have some catching up to do here! Sometimes we all need a break, we can get burnt out and lose interest. It's nice to come back with a fresh view and inspiration. Great to see alot of my old friends still here, even though I will likely never meet you guys in person, we still enjoy very much one another's company here. I did get to meet the guy I learned to build guitars from in person and a number of facebook friends at Maine's first annual cigar box guitar festival, what a GREAT time!! Hope to see you involved in this years Halloween thread, should be boneshakingly good.
Hey Burt, thanks for the responses. Just wanted to let you know the Halloween thread is up so hopefully you and others will give us some cool new tracks for scaring up some fun at the big Trick or Treat this year !!!
I recently got a Bone Shaker cigar box I'm preparing to turn into a sweet guitar, the name caught my attention looking through tracks here tonight. I'm hoping to take part in this years Halloween thread, even better, I'll record a tune on the Boneshaker guitar !How's it Going Neo?
Hello Burt, I almost didn't recognize you with the name change. Nice to hear from you. I have been extremely busy for many months with family issues, work and with my other hobby, my artwork. I literally haven't played or even opened my DAW in at least 2 months. I guess I have really gotten off track music-wise and that makes me sad. I think it really stems from what I perceived as an overall loss of interest here at Looperman among most of the members that I had developed a rapport with. Many had simply dropped off the radar entirely. This is entirely understandable, since we had all been doing this for quite a few years. I fully realize nothing lasts forever. Anyhow, I do still love music and I'm always listening. However I am starting to feel some serious withdrawl symptoms from not creating. Hopefully I can get things sorted out and get back on here with something new soon. Maybe the Halloween thread will encourage me to get going again. I'm at the least interested in hearing what you come up with from the Bone Shaker cigar box. Thanks for the comment Burt and yeah, looking forward to rejoining the fray real soon. So stay tuned !
Hey Neo your guitar playing is amazing i am totally in awe this is truly a boneshaker indeed makes me feel i was 30 years younger i need to listen to more of your work if this is the effect. Best regards and peace out. Robbie.
X man, thanks heaps for your most awesome comment bro. I know I'm so late to respond, sorry. I get so involved with other projects I don't have much time to check in here that often, but I'm very pleased to get the response from you guys. I try to work up a Halloween track each year which are primarily designed for fun. My whole reason for making music is for fun and enjoyment so yeah hopefully you will give a listen to some of my other tracks and like them as well. They are not all as novelty as this one but you might find some you also like.
Wow, yes, this does have the Halloween vibe that I came to love from 20-30 years ago. Some disturbing about it, even without the horror movie samples of the last few I heard (ha ha...sarcastic)! Oh wait, there it is at the end...
The guitar stuff is freaking cool and bizzare! Definitely very doom/glooom/glam to my ears!
I thought that this song had a bunch of ethics and potency. Very fun to hear! Fave!
Always a treat to get some feedback from you man, sorry for the late reply, I'm so bad at responding to the comments but I sincerely appreciate them all ! So glad you liked the track. I really had a blast doing this one. Yeah the bit crusher is a very unique effect and it worked really well here. These type of tracks are a lot of fun to make and of course when I hear that others had fun listening to them as well, it makes it all worth while. Haha, yeah the sound bite is Gene Wilder from "Young Frankenstein". I had to put it in. As I began working on this I watched a few Frankenstein movies and when I saw that scene it inspired me to add the storm and thunder effects which I think are integral components to the overall intensity of the track and really helps create the vibe I was going for. Thanks for your cool comments Spiv. I very much appreciate it.
Yeah several layers of guitar here and various effects. The Bit Crusher distortion and Boss Super Octave combo made for some pretty crazy sounds. Loads of fun ! Thanks for giving it a listen and taking time to comment bro.
Ha ha now that's a tasteless video there, but funny nonetheless ! I'm not sure if you've ever heard of him but I have been a fan of Sylvain Cloux for years. Hes a french guitarist who does amazing metal renditions of theme songs and covers. I sort of tried to do this in his style. if you get a chance check him out. I love his Munster's and Bond theme covers. Thanks for the comment Cru !!!

Description : This is my newest creation, at a stage very near to completion. No third-party mastering or mixing, as with all my tracks. Just have to fix a few tiny things. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO MIX EVERYTHING IN THE SAME SESSION. This song has all human-played instruments - no quantization or MIDI! My brother does all the vocals except for the interlude part, which I do. My other brother plays the rhythm guitar (a Gibson Les Paul Custom - only one of 12 in the world!!) and I play the accompanying guitar (a Johnny Mar Jag and PRS). He has a lot of guitars :P A good friend of ours, Ronnie, plays the bass and another friend, Freddie, plays the drums. The drum track was done in one take (had to use an electric drum set due to time constraints - but acoustic kits are so much better). Overall, pretty satisfied with the result. Let me know your thoughts.
Description : Feel free to check out the lyrics video on YT as well :) This is a new track based on the great vocals by Ashes and Dreams! Again, a mix of electronic/progressive/rock, any feedback is welcome
Description : The first track I sing on. Cheap stage mic & no fancy plugins. Heavily guitar laden to the point it's got a bit of a shoegaze thing going on. I pulled the lyrics out of my ass & yes, they're a bit silly.
Description : BIG UPDATE 26/02/2014 - So, this was an 18 min track that I have now successfully split in two. 2nd half I uploaded a few weeks ago (Things That Should Always Be, with the bouncy 2 min reggae intro). This is the first half, which has a new mix, a mega chill, meditative ending and a little jazz thrown in for good measure. Takes a few minutes for beat to really kick in. Constantly evolving electric guitar, bass guitar, acoustic drums and lead banjo driven by fat, busy 80BPM grooves with a bit of a reggae and shuffle feel. Also: synth choir voices, dulcimer, violin, cello, shimmering pads. Builds up gradually to nice and rocking and then gets taken back down for the big comedown chill. I really don't know what sort of genre this is except 'far out'. I think it sounds more like a live band than one guy playing instruments and manipulating a DAW. Not my best track but a bit of blissful, sunny island fun. Real positive vibe here so I hope you give it a chance to unfold and unfurl. Sit back, clear your schedule and immerse yourself in these trippy sonic experiments cooked up deep in my off-planet underground laboratory. I have to send the MP3 to Earth via space courier (not cheap).
Description : This track was like the inhale after an exhale of aggressive industrial-electro-sludge tracks that I had put out that summer and fall. This was the more reserved, and introspective winter track. It's nothing spectacular, but I still really enjoy it. I hope you do too. Take care. V.
Description : when i was a kid you could go down and buy acid drops at the dairy - sour boiled sweets....vox, guitars and keys by me. Bass a LM loop by megapaul.
