I've listened to quite a bit of your stuff and this is the best one by far so you are improving with time and age which is what we all want. Not sure what you've done with this filter/effects wise but theres a very in your face feel about this like I'm sitting next to you playing this. Has a live feel I think. Are you maybe recording with a mic?
Enjoyed it very much. Moody piece.
All power to you.

So dark and worrying! What's down the road around the corner in this darknessssss? You must have one hell of a collection of that stuff by now Phatz. Top sound from a very creative man.

18 cigar box guitars (well, cookie and various tins too) here right now, that's not including the ones I've given away and 2 in a local flea market for sale :D Thanks Silverman, this one is my fav's, such incredible sound out of it! I guess we'll just have to venture into the darkness to see what lies beyond, what's the worst that could happen? I do have quite the collection of dark tracks as well with more on the way for halloween. Coming across some older incomplete ones I'm trying to finish up, if they're worth finishing.

There's a bit of a Tom Waits feel here crossed with a million other rockers. Love it.

Hey Silverman, sorry for the late reply...should do better I know. You know, I am listening to so many types of music, it is hard even for me to tell where the influence comes from. But it's all rocknroll and I like it ;)

I love this!
Love the way the rather alien guitar appears and fits so well.
I could have handled a couple of more minutes of this easily.
Totally pro sound.

Thanks mate glad you enjoyed it, I would have extended the track with more vocal samples but I only had a certain amount in that key so I didn't want to be too repetitive, though I should have extended the flute solo!...ah well, short and sweet I guess..next time i'll stick to a longer format...cheers mate

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much of Man left to get the full picture. I saw Atomic Rooster live at a collage in Manchester but got arrested half way through enjoying myself because I had weed in my pocket. 1969 MAYBE 70.

SupaFreakshow replied 27th Jul 2016 - 9 years ago
Yeah Silve, most of the videos of Man that I came across were in more recent times.

Haha! You can thank the whole Reefer Madness campaign (at least that's what it was known as in the States) for that trip to the clink!

This is going to sound harsh.
I can't understand any of what you're saying.
Hasn't mattered much in the world of popular music this last fifty years weather or not you could understand the words but if the idea is a message then then it's important people can hear the words.
What I'm wondering is are my ears waxed up because no one else seems to be having that problem>

I did one of the same name!
It's on here and reverb ..... https://www.reverbnation.com/jackbis61yearsold

What I like about this is you didn't take the route of sound effects like helicopters and machine guns men screaming etc. Easy to do that way but not as artistic.
You took the artistic route and painted the mood and the place without recourse to that. Nice angry feel to it.
There's room for some blood to spilled now I think .....

I checked it out! It was very pleasing, that distorted trombone! I may have to try something with that :D

It didn't feel right doing such a thing, I entertained the idea, put it into a few bars, it felt very cheap & generic so I removed it .

Even more room now it's complete! I hope you enjoy the final version :)

I've come on here today and so far it's psycho and rock which is great for an old fart like me!
Parts of this take me into the track I just uploaded today called Ald Timers Disease which just goes to show those synapses and neurons and dendrites in that old bone casing are experiencing similar sparks and short outs .... which is kinda scary cos I've been short circuiting mine for years!
Definitely mental music for the cybernaughts this one.
Great track.
I highly recommend some DMT should pass your way but make sure you've fastened your seat belt!!!!!

Hey my friend! I enjoyed reading your comments, and your conversation is pleasing! Getting caught up on replies today in between setting up the new lab and "studio B." I seem to remember hearing that track of your which you mentioned, though I'll be able to tell if there is a comment from me on it... it's pretty rare that I don't comment on a Looperman song. I'm happy to hear that I am not the only one who has circuit bent their brain! I always used the term "psychonaut," which must be US spelling and pre-internet. While I have never been blessed with crystaline DMT, I have been using DMT containing plants for well over a decade. Virola bark (DMT and bufotenine with others) has been a constant help to my soul expansion in the past year or so. The dreams I have, wow. I live in a company town based on the Mayo Clinic, so they have done wonders at reducing the non prescription presence around here. It's too bad, as I've been helped far more by street dealers than those dealers who call themselves physicians. I have yet to meet someone on looperman who openly discusses DMT, and for that you have a gold star from me! I'm so looking forward to visiting your profile again! Thank you!

Reminding me of a Welsh rock band from the seventies who most people won't have heard of called MAN.
Nice live atmosphere to this.
SupaFreakshow
SupaFreakshow replied 25th Jul 2016 - 9 years ago
Hey Silverman, big thanks.

Checked out Man, but not hearing too much similarity there. But in searching I came across some Atomic Rooster. I think they are from England. A bit heavier than Man and the vocals had that upper tenor range to them. The singer looked a little like Tiny Tim and was eating a sandwich in one of the vids. THAT is definitely similar.

on Navigating The Neversphere by StaticNomad
The word perfection kept coming to mind but it can't be that good .... can it?
StaticNomad
StaticNomad replied 20th Jul 2016 - 9 years ago
No, I definitely wouldn't say it's that good. I'm not quite sure what a perfect piece of music would be though you've certainly got me thinking quite deeply about it.

I could point out quite a few small sections (or single notes) in this track that could be better.

But if it seems perfect to you, I'll accept that.

I guess the first question for you to consider is whether you would want any element of the track to be in any way different. If not, then it might be close to being perfect to you.

Other people won't like the track at all...

on Navigating The Neversphere by StaticNomad
Oh man I wanted that to keep going on and on and on!
Yeah I know you've been trying to cut them down but this could fill the side of an old lp for me.
The driving beat that comes in was a dream and it's a dream that it goes out again and we get your talking weeping cello doing things cellos aren't supposed to do.
Psychedelic?
Yes and no.
It was more story telling journey music that words would only dirty. The story belongs to the listener here. No words no video just that awesome music is the story.
Got to go have another listen just to make sure I really like it as much as I think I do.
StaticNomad
StaticNomad replied 20th Jul 2016 - 9 years ago
Hi.

This is the second track of mine in the last month or so that you've wanted to go on for much longer. The other one was this:

The Mythical Gates

http://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/177482

They're actually both from the same project so are at the same tempo (100BPM) and share a few sounds and settings. Both have strong Eastern elements.

"driving beat that comes in was a dream"

That's two drum loops layered together. They seem to fit so neatly that they sound like one unified sound.

"talking weeping cello doing things cellos aren't supposed to do."

That's a good description and I agree that the new cello riff that kicks off the section after the first drum groove section does have a mad sound to it. It seems quite muscular and powerful but I'm not quite sure why. Despite getting all these weird cello sounds in this track, the only effects I'm using are delay, chorus and reverb. The rest is just playing techniques.

"story telling journey music that words would only dirty."

Only if they're dirty words. If they're interesting/intelligent words they help me make sense of what I've made and give me some useful things to think about and perhaps take into future compositions.

"Got to go have another listen"

Keep listening. I hope it's the kind of music that stands up to repeated listens.

Thanks again.

I like this it's almost cinematic. Go great in a tv thriller but ... there's always a but .... you need a little more bvariation in the background ... faint little additions and surprises here and there maybe. You have an individual sound which is very pleasing to me.
