I'm a third of the way in and this is awesome!
Haunting spooky full of dread.
I'm about half way in now and that wobbly base sound against the guitar creates a fantastic environment of suspense. Theres also something very biker oriented in this.
I'm half expecting a Hells Angel to step out any second holding a head with a bit of spinal cord attached in one hand and a blood knife in the other ......
6.18 and the anti hero has entered .... just ignore everything I've written because I've decided it's a load of bollox and not at all descriptive any longer of what's going on with this or with me.
I could actually have enjoyed this a bit longer. I know you're trying to shorten your pieces but this one .... which defies description could have kept me interested and contained a while longer.
This aint blues. This cannot to be put in a box.
This is sublime. Possibly my favourite from you.
I think you last favourite of mine was one called Great Leap Backwards though I've removed that from the site so you won't be able to go back and compare it with this one.
Yes, a nice, warm slightly wobbly bass that I like so much I've used in at least 20 tracks, though they're mostly quite different tracks.
No, this doesn't make me think of bikers at all. A bit spooky, I guess, but I find it more beautiful than being "full of dread". I guess that's the Eastern stuff creating that vibe for you.
Yes, I agonised over whether to make it go on for a couple of minutes more and I still could, fairly easily. But I am continually trying not to go over 10 mins unless I really, really have to.
"This aint blues."
If you remove the bluesy guitar, I agree. I wouldn't know what to call it then, apart from atmospheric groove chillout, I guess. But as there's quite a lot of that guitar playing, blues is the closest rough genre I can think (as a single genre label).
Thoroughly enjoyed this.
Well put together.
Great mood great space and place to be.
What defines hip hop I have no idea but I seem to be enjoying more and more of it.
This is one of those tracks for me to be driving along to at night.
Really appreciate your comment! What defines hip hop is more than just 1 sentence... but for me, it is a free use of mind and intelect.. Thank you again silverman! Peace
Wow loving this. Love that very smooth change of gear at around 1.30 where we move into power mode overdrive or summat!
I hope this doesn't offend you in anyway but I was transported back to the seventies for a moment there.
Not sure but I might have been having a slight Jefferson Air plane moment or two there.
You have a great voice for this.
You've slotted your voice into this instrumental excellently.
So I'm ten years late but this sounds great. Doesn't sound anything like the sea I live near. More like the sea of tranquillity and that's out there somewhere .... somewhere that way >>>>>>>>>>
First impression within seconds was ... a bit odd weird a bit desperate a bit sad a bit rough and still my lasting impression and I love it.
The voice is a killer!
So much emotion painting the canvass. Good choice of loop/guitar too.
The kind of minimalism in the overall creation of this helps the desperation.
The only suggestion I'm going to make is keep the emotion strong in your singing ... falling to your knees and sobbing screaming pleading if necessary.
Had to fave this one.
All poower to you in the future.
You pretty much summed up the emotions I was feeling at the time of singing this, but then I expect no less of an observation from a fellow Tom Waits fan :)
Thanks very much for stopping by to listen and comment, much appreciated.
Thanks. I may end up doing that. I was going to upload it as a loop, but discovered it didn't qualify as a loop and I don't have loop upload access yet. New here and still learning the guidelines.
Sorry to hear of your loss Mud.
I can empathise as I've lost them all over the last few years. Leaves me as the oldest male in my family now which I find a little odd.
I keep trying trance buit it has a habit of falling apart around my ears!
This sounds good to me for a comeback track.
I would go for a few louder bits here and there though.
All the best.
Thank you! The same is for me now as being the oldest male around in the family. It is definetly odd but thats life. Maybe there could be added somethings but wanted to keep it basic. I might change things in the future.
I pressed play and knew more or less there and then that I wasn't going to like this. The only thing that kept my interest was the Billy dragon sounding pella. Then it just suddenly blossomed and took me in! This is a great little track. Well put together great sound and excellent use of that short lyric.
billydragon1 by the way is a contributor to this place by way of tracks and pellas. I think you'll maybe like the quality of his voice and his meaningful lyrics.
Faved this one because it is so pleasant and has real commercial possibilities to my ears.
All the best with your stuff in the future.
I thoroughly enjoyed that and in fact will have to play it again.
It's raw dirty filthy ragged and atmospheric.
It's well put together.
Faved.
If you look on my profile you'll find my attempt at an industrial track I called ... The Factory.
The difference with my industrial effort was making a tune with just industrial sounds of tools and machines and trying to make them sound like there were synths guitars humans ... took me months! It was just as I was changing from Windows 98 to XP. Windows XP was a giant leap forward for home computer users. The stability seriously helped with my music making efforts.
This is a great sound great effort and I look forward to hearing more.
All power to you.
My wife isn't exactly a fan of this place but just arrived at my desk with a cuppa and said what's that you're listening to?
I had it on monitors and she absolutely loves it.
I think MG you should promote your country while promoting your music. A lot of people in the west don't give a damn about nuking such a desert dust hole. Seriously it's how the media depict Iran. I am forever showing people Google images of the streets of Tehran and the women and the snow capped mountains. All the best to you whatever you decide MG.
Streets of tehran ... Crowded city and so big . But I'm in neyshabur , the capital of culture and poetry in iran ... Right now , we have a heavy wind and rain in the summer !!!
Tom Waits and Keith Richards appeared in my minds eye!
Falling about trying to escape this madness because they couldn't follow it .... falling all over the place they were.
This is one weird piece.
This is another one I can feel physically.
Superb journey into the unknown for me.
Big wow factor with this one.
Unique.
Absolutely fantastic.
I don't listen to Tom Waits though I do love his song Heart Attack And Vine. That's brilliant.
Not sure why this makes you think of Keith Richards. Maybe it's the cello parts that sound like guitar playing?
"This is one weird piece."
Yeah, it's unusual but that's what I go for, along with melodic and grooving, epic and so on. And unique - that's always my aim. If I can't be the best or a virtuoso instrumentalist (I'm not), if I can at least make unique tracks, that means a lot.
"Superb journey into the unknown"
Yes, I think it's hard to know where the track is going.
I can't associate this with Ska at all Spiv.
Frantic track.
Very well put together.
This is a nervous breakdown!
This is madness!
This is assylum music and I'm loving it .....
Interesting comment. Like I've mentioned in other replies - I feel that if I were to replace the synths with a brass ensemble, and play the guitar (and possibly bass) myself, then it would sound very much in the ska style. Ska is such a variable genre though, so I have switched it to hardcore. Life, where I am at, is a nervous breakdown. I've never been to prison or an asylum, and I've never killed any one, so I suppose I can be proud... but for how long? Thank you for listening!
Thank you, Sliverman, for the review and the listen. In retrospect, I should have added another verse near the end. Maybe next time. Anyway, thanks, kind sir. Vic
This was entertaining which is the whole point.
Works great.
This sounds nothing like Frank Zappa.
Nothing remotely like Frank Zappa yet it reminded me of Frank Zappa!
Maybe I've had to much medication ....
I sometimes watch a kids thing called in the night garden with one of my grandchildren and the scenes from it came instantly to mind with this ... brilliant tv stuff. That is not a put down as some people seem to think when you put their music in the bracket of kids things ... some very very creative stuff going on there to capture those young minds .... and their grandpa.
