listened to this one with headphones DV...very nice technique on the mix...like the way you moved things around...(notable the bass part in that last section)....very cool...enjoyed this one...Ed
Yeah, since I did the Dreams 2 Dream cover I've been wanting to fool with doing different approaches to the way I arrange the loops in the mix (diff pairings or fades/drops). That bass part at the end was done for that. It was also good to have 'em stand alone for a moment since the drum & bass patterns were kinda similar to one another (the bass was almost like an echo in some parts). Anyways, I'm glad ya dug it mate. Later on!
Yeah, it was odd how that 'pella worked out. Fluke luck I suppose, because when I imported it into the project it just seemed to fit almost perfectly in raw form. Didn't need to do much to it beyond a slight re-sample of the tempo and slicing it up to fit the loop spacing. The bass was another oddity, in that I had originally figured that they'd be better suited for another genre/style (why I put 'em in the R&B section). Anywho, I'm glad ya dug this mate. Later on!
Haha, pretty cool mate. It is a bit dif, aint it? I think that's thanks to Paulkeus' pella (just has a sci-fi vibe to it, ya know?). Thanks for stoppin by. Later on!
Hey was up bruv? Yeah, things're goin cool. Just graduated with 3 associate degrees last year. Now I'm workin towards a bachelors. Don't mix as often as I use to (decided that I'd shift focus towards my academics, tryin to join the honor society). At the mo' my main goal, musically, is to make more loops for the site.
So how 'bout you, what all's been goin on 'round yer way? Been able to do any more mixing? School, work?? Lemme know sometime, cool? Nice to see ya poppin in my man. Try not to stay gone so long next time, ay? Later on!
This is so creative! The bass and drums play so well together! Those vocals really stand out as being very special! Definitely has a cinematic vibe to it! Great work!
Yeah, Laura really hooked me up when she did those vocals (she's uber cool & talented to boot). Since I had wanted to do this for so long I approached it with that pent up passion. The cine' qual' comes from how I wanted to stick close to the tune's roots. Glad ya dug it. Later on!
Interesting choice to fade in and out the beat/percussion, a unique approach to a dance track for sure. Panning the individual tracks is a nice touch and adds an element of interest to an overall sparse and minimal track. I liked it, dance is not a genre I know a lot about but it was very cool and made me listen a few times to soak it all in.
Yeah, that indiv pan stuff was another experiment I though I'd try playin with again here. The minim angle was mainly for the vox stuff done for this. Glad ya dug it. Later on!
loving that deep bass synth brother..nice idea.. the drum track sets it all up perfectly for the build...nice ..
I personally would have loved have heard a little more in the way of sfx or glitches to really set off the DEEP house feel for this track... maybe even some more percussion...
I also would have liked to have heard some more of that beginning vocal..
now I must say dance music really isn't my thing but I did enjoy this track... although I think it should have ended about thirty second earlier..
Cool deal mate. The bass & the lead synths were my fav bits when I was mixing this. Drums were just pre-loaded samples from the prog I was usin. Took your advice on trimming down the track (which left me with some bass loops I might add here later). Also tossed on an extra bassy synthline to give it a more house vibe. Then I worked on tweekin the vocals to make 'em sync up better (posted it as a separate track to show the before/after difference). Anywho, glad ya dug it. Lates!
Sorry, didn't catch ya on V1 when you reviewed Go Into The Water. This is really good man, i love the whole feel of it! Pity you can't fav any more, but i guess it removes rankings... What's goin' about the forum? IDK Anyway, i loved this son.
Tis cool mate. That happens sometimes (like I was busy for the past few months with school stuff). As for the site- it changed, some good, some iffy. Like with favorites, I signed on with Google Plus as my way to fave 'em now days. Beyond that, I dunno. Anyways, glad ya dug this and thanks for stoppin by. Later on!
Prech that mate. I'm glad you liked it & feel free to use the sample in one of your songs (& lemme know if ya do, cool?). Thanks for stopping by. Later on!
Hi my friend. This is a fascinating track, I love the way you've fused the musical influences together. I'm definitely agreeing with earlier comments, this is such a head bobber (I like this word, I wanna use it more!)
Really nice arrangement and production. Great work my friend.
That's cool mate. Like doin that myself sometimes (head bobbin, almost as fun as head waggin IMO, haha). This was a fun lil track that stemmed from a rather simple tune. Glad ya dug it. Later on!
Hey thanks for sharing my friend. I was impressed with the feel of the beat, I can see infinite possibilities. really cool sound. I like the fact you've provided some sound feedback on iDrum as well, many thanks for that. Nice work my friend.
Yeah, iDrum's pretty neat. Did this just the 2nd time messin with it. The layout on it is easy to read. As for the beat, wanted to go for some dark D&B. Glad ya dug it. Later on!
This is great stuff! The bass line and melody aren't synchronous to the beat... I recognize it as a stylistic element. And that way I can easily imagine this song to a horror movie, or a game like Silent Hill, a scary movie shot at a carousel for childs.
Well done!
cheers
Yeah, you pegged it mate. Sometimes I think its fun to play with stuff being off-beat or off-key just to see how it sounds. And oddly I just read an article about the city that inspired the settings for Silent Hill the other day (the fire's still burning to this day). Speaking of which, the fact that this was on Tetris made me think of the crazy game thing (though I was thinkin more like those robot-arm prize games). Glad ya dug it. Lates!
It's definitely different lol... I guess I didn't really know what to expect - and I'm not sure what to think either lol
But being honest, I *don't* really feel this type of melody belongs on a house track - that's not to say this project doesn't have merit, I agree with spiv - this is a fun track and it made me perceive a sort of,... distorted, alternative reality! :)
I hear ya mate. I'm kinda iffy on the whole "house" thing too, but was thinkin that it did give this a different vibe (sort of in the Gigi D'Agostino way). Maybe if this had lyrics like his stuff did it'd be better (match closer). Dunno? Anyways, thanks for the input. Lates!
Hey mate...I'm liking this groove..plus it's great to hear a drum track on it's own and also give a good demonstration of the program...I use a lot of drum machine programs and always love inserting my own samples into their patterns..I have Izotope's iDrum is this the same?..Sounds like it might be...probably one of the best and easiest to use rhythm programs out their, which is a big plus, there's nothing worse than having to spend up to weeks mastering a program and then find your creative juices have stopped flowing!lol....definitely a cool groove box. cheers Dave
Yep it is, haha. Kinda where the track name came from. I hadta show it off coz of how cool the prog is (fav parts are the Bounce feature & song creation window). It just goes to show how powerful this is coz I was just playin around with it that night. Anyways, its cool that you've used the prog too and am glad you dig it as much as I do. Lates!
This is too cool! I like the bass a lot, especially when it plays along with that pitch bent synth! Really nice punchy and glitchy drums! Totally awesome track! Faved for sure!
Yeah, that bendy bass was like one of the first things I did on this track (the first notes and all). It was the particular soundbank I used. Kinda made me think it had a jump-up sorta vibe. Glad ya dug it. Later on!
Cool deal mate. Swing by StarTropix page coz he did a couple decent mixes of this. There was this other person (Staix I think) who did a mix of this, but I dunno if she's on here anymore. Anyways, glad ya dug it. Lates!
Yeah, when I heard this song I just hadta divide it down to hear what the bass would sound like on their own (and my guess that they'd be groovy was right). Glad ya dug it. Later on!
I gotcha mate. Thanks for the heads-up about the genre. I'm prolly like most folks who just lazily lump their stuff into Dance when they can't figure out what it is or whatev'. Thanks for stopping by. Later on!
