Really cool track I like that blending of styles! The drums and the rhythm were awesome. It gets really atmospheric too at some places and the synth melody is very catchy.
Yeah, that hiss is something I always think about when I hear people discussing vinyl (analog versus digital and all that). Sometimes its nice to reach back into yester-year to remind folks of what that stuff was all about. Glad ya dug it. Lates!
Thanks mate, that's one of the first things I tried tackling with this (breaking the main Midi file down to loop size sections). Speaking of 'arranging' as is this looks like an upside-down boathouse (what some of Japanese Calligraphy is based on). Glad ya dug it. Later on!
Yeah, after the last folk remix I wanted to scope out some Asian folk stuff. Stumbled across this and BAM, def had to do a TH/HH mix of it. Glad ya dug it. Later on!
Sweet intro mate, this to me sounds more like a fusion,I like the synth melody, sounds really good!
The only thing missing in this track is deep bass or good sub ,everything else sounds interesting and good for me!
Good work man
Yeah, I was kind of scratching my head as to where to class this (technically its Folktronica, but since that isn't a choice on here I opted to go with D&B because of the drums). And good call on the bass suggestion (I totally wasn't thinking about that when I was doing this). If I decide to stick with this version of the mix I'll def do that mate. Thanks for the input. Later on!
Kinda got a haunting feel to it that overpowers everything else to be honest I think it should be turned down (the haunting synth) Beat is drowned out by it.
There's really no base melody to it that people can remember it by. Not saying it has to have it just saying it would be nice to hear something thats catchy than just the beat, you know?
Keep it up man,
Get some more DnB choons up!
Steve :)
I hear ya mate. This was more of an experiment with effects than anything else. The "haunting synth" was created that way. If I were to pick this up again I'd def keep those suggestions in mind (as this does sound somewhat flat beyond the beat & FX). Would prolly also add some nice floaty pads to it too now that I think about it. Prech the feedback mate. Later on!
I hear ya. I agree, this needs to be worked on more. Sort of why I want to do another mix of it. Will remember your suggestion the next time I pick this up. Thanks for stopping by. Later on!
Hey Man! Sounds quite epic! I like where you are going with it! :)
I think it could become a great track! Reminds a lot of Infected Mushroom! They are super talented so it's a big honor! :) Want to see this developed into a track for sure!! :)Keep it up!
Prech that mate (cool comparison too, would've never thought that, because of the whole Goa-Psy thing they usually do). And no worries, I plan on picking this up in a few days (will make a post about it). Later on!
Ha, you were right. The atmosphere on this, especially when it begins, is a lot like the track of mine you reviewed. Although here it sounds much, much, much better because it seems to evolve, there's a lot more going on with it and....well it just is better.
Honestly, I love everything going on in this track except for the drums. Personal preferences and all, but I think a clean, minimal beat pattern would work much better for the atmosphere you've created than the vaguely industrial techno drums you've currently gone with. As it stands, the drums are neither here nor there...they're not weak/steady enough to just melt into the background while you lose yourself in the atmosphere and they're not powerful enough to get you dancing either. As a result it just seems to distract from the cold eeriness of the pads and fx, which to me is the strength of this track.
The beat there is simply acting as a steady, solid base while you lose yourself in everything around it [it's a short clip of a 8 and a half minute song and honestly works much better over the whole running time, but you get the idea]. You could dance to it, if you were so inclined, but you could also just get lost in it. Or you could do both. Of course at the end of the day, taste is subjective and what I like/want from a song, you may not and vice versa.
I've rambled on far too long so I should just end this by saying I do actually like this track overall. Keep up the good work.
Yeah, I hear ya mate. Most of the cool stuff with this song is thanks to MrE & his original mix. My only contribution was the effects & some rearranging (as I did this back in my second phase of remixing).
I scoped that vid & its vibe was dead-on with this one. IMO, the way they vary is the approach (that one was more centered & in-the-same-room while this one was more indirect & in-another-room like).
My approach here was to make the listener move away from the dance floor & to put them somewhere like out on the street or something. A sort of Cinematic approach to EDM (kinda like what happened in Hollywood last year), ya know? And no worries about the ramble, I do it too every now & then (when it strikes me). Glad ya dug it. Later on!
This has a dark feel to it. I love how you used the wind samples. Actually I've had that idea for my tracks to. Add nature sounds in the background.Good mix to it sounds alright in my new laptop that has Dolby advance audio Lets see with headphones on. Good mix to I can hear the bass now. Reminds me of a tune for this one video game lol . . . not very helpfull but nice work :)
Yeah, the wind sound was actually a spin-off result of all the effects that I had placed on the samples. Oh & if you ever get the chance try to mix your stuff in 5.1 Surround (it sounds so wicked). Glad ya dug it. Later on!
Respective? Ya mean 'repetitive' right mate? Yeah, that's sorta my Achilles Heel when it comes to makin songs (get stuck in a cool groove & not wanna come out of it soon enough). Glad ya dug it though. Later on!
Cool deal mate, if ya like those Bells I think I got 'em loaded to my Loops section here (I remember adding half of the stems for this a while back). If ya liked this be sure to check out Splish's version of this. Alright, I'm headin off. Thanks for stoppin by. Later on!
:) this is something really nice you got going on. I feel this is 1 instrument in a orchestration. I feel this is going to be massive. Might take a while but it will be nice.
Yeah, it was somethin I was playin with a few years ago. Figured that I'd throw it out there for yall to play with. Am glad ya think that it has potential and look forward to hearing what you do with it (whenever, its cool with me, no rush mate). Thanks for stopping by. Later on!
Cool deal mate, go ahead & get crazy with it (why I uploaded it). Am lookin forward to hearin what ya come up with. Glad ya dug it & wanna mix it. Later on!
Prech that mate. The reason for its brevity is due to how it was made to be for a 30 second TV commercial (it ran 2 seconds over, but there's a +/- 5 second leeway most times). Glad ya dug it. Later on!
Yeah, I've been doin stuff like this for years (even before I got into mixing/arranging). Mostly it was because I was bored and it was during the time before MP3 players (Walkmans & portable CD players were a bit too bulky to take to football games & such). Just did this to prove that a track could be made quickly from scratch (and coz I was havin the bug to do some beatbox-like stuff). Glad ya dug it. Later on!
